Everything from the new host's manners to the manager making a deliberate decision to come and greet my family (multiple times) made us feel so special and welcomed into what could be considered an intimidating environment. Brandon displayed an extensive knowledge of the entire menu, answering any of our questions and making any adjustments or exceptions to our inquires. My sister has celiacs disease, and he ensured that any dish would be safe for her consumption after the necessary adjustments--and he was right! We're so grateful for such caring and intentional service, this establishment was such a breath of fresh and calming air in such a busy world (especially the high-end dining scene). He was also friendly! We made great banter and lovely chatter throughout the night, which was a nice and personable touch to such a prim and proper setting. As for the food, we ordered a great variety of cuts and cooks of meats, sides, and loads of carbs!! We would recommend the Filet, the Ribeye, and the Lobster- any cook suffices for any preference! Brandon gave us some pointers based on his own experiences and tastes, and it delivered big time! As for the sides, the Lobster Mashed Potatoes along with the Truffle Fries were the biggest hit! After Brandon memorized every one of our orders, including customizations, he helped to box and package our food that we didn't yet finish. The most warming surprise was the special deserts that Brandon brought out to celebrate our graduates-- a complete surprise! Once he realized that my sister couldn't eat her desert (the delicious butter cake) as it contained gluten, he immediately reared back to the kitchen and picked up a lovely strawberry sorbet for her, it was some of the best we've had. Everything that this establishment runs is conducted in a professional, warm, and respectful manner. They manage to find the precarious balance between approachable service while also maintaining an air of posh confidence that accompanies only the finest of dining. Entering the restaurant, you are surrounded by an elegant decor, white table cloth tables with well selected plate settings. While they provide complimentary bread, I was tempted to try something different: the milk bread with lavender honey butter at $6. One bite and it was the wrong choice for me. Too sweet, both the bread, the butter, with no contrasts. I had to return it and they kindly took it off the bill. Instead, the complimentary sourdough bread with the two accompanying butters was a major hit. Both the butters, the Champagne Brie and the Onion Cabernet, one was better than the other, and truly unique. For lunch, it was my desire to try the 2-course Prix Fixe menu. Of the two starter choices, it was Brie Mushroom soup for me. A well balanced thick soup, nice brown color and with a tasteful silky body. Out of the 3 main choices, I opted for the Petit Cabernet. It comes as a 6 oz hand-cut filet mignon, topped with danish blue cheese butter (garlic butter for me, instead) over cabernet demi-glace, sautéed spinach and a campari tomato (yes, just one). The dish arrived at the table nice and hot and superbly arranged as a dynamic presentation (see my pictures). You could smell the steak grill, and appreciate the charring. The spinach was fresh and the tomato succulent, not mushy and plump with an heirloom flavor. To put it mildly, I was truly blown away. In my experience at steak houses, it is rare for a restaurant to check out on all the boxes, with flying colors. I asked tor the steak to be medium rare and every bite was exactly that, no dry areas. Each slice of meat was juicy and when mixed with the cabernet demi-glaze, it took me to another place. Then the knife, well sharpened, cutting through like butter. Also, the optimum balance and complimentary seasoning between the accompanying sides of spinach and tomato. All this cannot impress without stellar service. And that is what it was. My server was Steven G. He and the manager Manny, kept checking on me numerous times. Every time I disappeared to the rest room, my napkin was changed to a new one and laid out in perfect position. What else can I say. I did compliment them both on the exceptional care, service and food. And walked out after having one of the best steak meals I have had, for a very long time.

Another young lady delivered a couple of meals and when I asked her to clear some plates she looked at me like I was crazy and rudely snatched up one plate before walking away. She apologized for not bringing it sooner. We wanted dessert but since our server was so slow my husband went to the bar to order. He was back within minutes with our dessert. The bill was presented to me and I figured there's no way all of this costs $240 I said I want to see an itemized receipt they came back with a $160 bill so more shady shit thrown to the shade. His name is Frankie and if anyone dines at the new Canoga location, I would highly recommend asking for his section. Frankie is everything you could ask for out of an attendant waiter. For a Saturday evening, it was pretty busy so I always give servers the benefit of the doubt and understand that sometimes checking in every 5-10 minutes can be difficult depending on staffing and the amount of tables assigned to the server. Frankie, even though he served the whole section we were sat in, clearly knows to manage his time properly. I used to work as a shift lead for a family restaurant. Frankie executed a perfect balance of check ins, brief but classy and humorous conversation, and an absolute delight and honor to have him join our special evening. I always prefer to leave a 20% tip because I know what it's like to be an employee of any restaurant, but it's pretty rare for me to feel the server fully deserves it nowadays. I ordered an extra side just so the total would help increase his 20% tip and give Frankie some extra sales productivity.
