Stopped here for the first time on the way through the valley. The service was quick and friendly! The decor is standard for a SoCal taco place, despite how far it is from the actual beach. The food itself is excellent. I had the two chicken tacos (standard and jerk sauce) as well as a gourmet beef taco. Extremely disappointed with the food . . . I used to eat at this location when it was Lola's Tacos. The food at Lola's Tacos was so delicious and the portions were very large. I haven't been there since they changed owners and decided to give it a try. Apparently, the chef and the waitresses are the same so I was thinking the food would be the same as before. This time when I went, I ordered the chicken taco and shrimp taco. The chicken taco was cold and contained small pieces of dark meat thrown into a taco. Usually tacos use shredded or stewed chicken so this was not the norm for me. The minute I bit into it, I could taste the chicken was old and gamey. I bit into a large piece of grissle from the bone and almost threw up. I took one bite of the shrimp taco and could not identify the flavor. It definitely wasn't cilantro, but some other kind of herb I didn't recognize. I ended up throwing it away. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately, I will never go back. I was craving some seafood so I did a quick Yelp search and found this hidden gem in granada hills. I made it in on a Tuesday evening and upon arrival, it was busy. I picked where to sit so I chose to sit inside; they have a small section upfront for outdoor seating. Service was pleasant for me, but only two of them on the floor however, they worked together to get orders out as quick as they could. Props to both of them! Just in time for their Tuesday happy hour, I decided to get two Baja fish tacos and for the appetizer the tuna bites. I also ordered a Pacifico michelada. My food came out rather quickly and I started to indulge in the tuna bites first. Fresh tuna sitting on three individual won ton like tostadas. Drizzled with their sauces, fresh avocado slice and cilantro. The fish tacos included: fresh diced tomatoes, cilantro, crema and cheese. The fish tacos were smaller since they are part of their happy hour but they were still delicious. Pacifico Michelada mix 5/5! Served on a cold mug and that made my day! First time here and the food was amazing! Everything we got was so fresh and full of flavor. We got the potato tacos, steak tacos and shrimp cocktail and it was delicious down to the very last bite! I asked for sauce on side but only received 1 sauce for 4 fish tacos. Don't know if that's normal as it was my first time. So I ate 3 dry fish tacos. That wasn't as enjoyable as it should be because I'm a sauce guy. The shrimp ceviche was a miss for me. Something about it was off. I was expecting something similar to what you get at mariscos but it felled short. Would rather get ceviche elsewhere. Overall it was a 3.5 experience. First visit under new management. I have not been since pandemic. I used to go here all the time for an order to go. The Chef is the new owner and his menu is definitely a delicious twist on local Mexican food. The aesthetic is beach surf culture meets Ikea earthy comfy. They do not offer rice/beans on entrees. Everything is basically ala carte. I had one asada baja taco, an order of chicken taquitos and they were fried lightly and had a good crunch but not too dry which they can be when overcooked. I split an order of buffalo cauliflower and it was so good. The sauce that accompanied it was very flavorful. The winner of my meal was definitely the chimichuri sauce. It was definitely packed with flavor and I put it on everything. I had the special featured strawberry cheesecake recommended by our server. I haven't been here since they changed ownership. I asked our amazing server Natalie and she said it was the same chef who now owns the restaurant. He actually brought out the cauliflower and was very kind when serving our dish. Cauliflower was amazing! Cooked just right. Not too mushy or over battered. It had a perfect amount of heat with a perfect amount of cotijo cheese sprinkled on. $10 Steak taco was delicious. Tortilla seemed homemade and the chimichurri sauce was amazing. I definitely could have eaten 10 more. A little pricey for a small street taco but worth the price for the flavor. $6 Potato taco was a fried taco with vegan chorizo and plenty of pickled onions on top. I used my friend's salsa from her chicken taquito plate. It was a flavorful fire roasted salsa and made the potato taco even better. $5.50 I only went once before the new owner. I wasn't in love and thought it was okay. I like all the vegan options on the menu. Full of flavor and a fantastic meal. I love that it's close to home and supporting a small business. We got ADA parking right in front of the restaurant. There are other businesses in the same strip mall so parking could be a little hard. There is additional parking behind the building. Everything was very clean. Alex was constantly cleaning the menus when he had a chance. We ate at 5:00pm. The perfect time on a Friday night. There are a few tables outside. (Small parking lot) I got the baja shrimp tacos and the ingredients topped ontop of the battered and fried shrimp was super fresh! The creamy sauce was plentiful as well as the tomato salsas. It was sadly only one shrimp piece on it.. Like really only 1 piece for 1 taco? I wish there was at least 2 pieces of shrimp. I don't think it's worth $6 that was on DD? Food is solid and they have great specials on Tues and Wed. Usually I get a platter of 12 tacos for ~$30 and you can add on additional guacamole and chips for ~$10-$12. If you want fish tacos there's a bit of a surcharge but I'd just order a small fish taco in addition to the platter. Service is friendly and I've never needed to wait too long for the food. Give it about 15-20 minutes for the platter of tacos to be ready. Great spot to watch a game as the vibe is casual and there's usually plenty of seats. I usually go for the fish and shrimp tacos. They're sooo good every time. The fish is crispy and flavorful, and the shrimp is always cooked just right. They load them up with toppings too, so every bite is packed with flavor. I recently tried the spicy tuna crunch taco and wow, that one really surprised me. We were so sad to see Lola's Tacos close only to be delighted weeks later when Baja Beach opened. Same chef, nearly the same menu, and same taste. This is our go-to place when we are in town and we have never been disappointed with any of the tacos we have ordered. We got two fish tacos baja style (battered and fried) a grilled halibut taco and grilled mahi mahi. The pictures don't do justice because you can't really see the large fish filet under all the toppings but each taco is a nice helping. They also have some of the best chips and salsa around. The salsa spice will give you a runny nose, which is always a good sign. The staff and servers are always prompt with refills and knowledgeable on all the dishes. The ambience is pleasant and usually parking available right out front. The only ding I can think of is that there are no beans and rice as side dishes but I didn't mind that emwhen the tacos are filling. We can't wait to return. read more
