I asked for gelX and shorter nails while still having the pointy, skinnier french mani I desire and she didn't hesitate to give me what I wanted. However, I'm used to working with a private tech who takes good care of my nails and does a soak off instead of getting my previous nails buffed/drilled off with an e-file. I do prefer to get my nails done the healthiest way, and this might not be the place for that kind of care. I added pictures of 1 week after getting my nails done, and my nails are already lifting at the base. It might be because my job requires constant hand hygiene for long hours. I was a loyal client of Mercedes at Buff N File from 2018 to 2024, and after my last experience, I will never return. I was originally recommended to Mercedes by my best friend, who is basically like family to her, which made me trust this salon even more. I booked my appointment three months in advance for my wedding reception nails because my wedding week was packed with back-to-back South Asian wedding events. These were not regular nails. They were my wedding nails, and I trusted Mercedes because I had gone to her for six years. When I arrived, Mercedes seemed cold and uninterested. I asked for a simple deep French square set. Once she started shaping, I noticed after just one pinky nail that the shape was becoming too tapered and skinny instead of square. Since these were my wedding nails, I calmly pointed it out. Instead of simply adjusting the nail, Mercedes told me that was what I asked for, stepped back, and said she could not do my nails that day. She offered to pass me to another nail tech, but I kept asking her to please continue because I had specifically booked with her months in advance for such an important occasion. She repeatedly refused. I was already overwhelmed from wedding week and had a henna appointment immediately after that was going to take several hours. I ended up crying in the salon for almost the entire appointment while another nail tech finished my nails. Mercedes went on a cigarette break and then continued with her next client right beside me like nothing happened. There was no apology, no compassion, and no accountability. What hurt even more is that I had known Mercedes for years and had conversations with her about her family, her daughter, and her grandkids. I know she would do anything to protect her own daughter or grandchild if they were treated poorly. So I could not believe she was treating me this way in front of my own sweet mother during one of the most important weeks of my life. My mother was also there getting services, and this was especially upsetting because I had brought her back despite a previous pedicure experience where her heels were cut so badly that she was in pain, nearly infected, and had to seek medical attention. For us to return after that and still be treated this way was unacceptable. Despite all of this, I was still charged full price. If this had been any other day, I would have walked out with my mom, but it was Christmas Eve during my wedding week and we were desperate to get our nails done before the next event. After six years of loyalty and a personal recommendation from someone close to Mercedes, this experience was hurtful, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I have since found another nail tech who does better work, works faster, and treats clients with respect. I would not recommend Buff N File or Mercedes to anyone looking for professionalism, empathy, or reliable service for an important occasion. read more

I have been going to buff n file for a full sets and pedicures in the past and on valentines weekend, they were doing a promo where I was able to get a gift certificate for an express head spa with the purchase of my nails. For $55, I think it is such a steal! Its around an hour long with cleansing of the scalp face, and a bit of a massage too! It was just the bit of calm I needed for my week. The room is very peaceful with the spa track playing, very opposite of the other bustling side of the spa with everyone getting their nails done. read more

Their customer service is great, and I believe they do want everyone happy with their nails. The second pedicure was MUCH better. She cleaned up the polish on the edges, cleaned up the nails, shaped them better, and did an even coat of polish. Something that should have been done the first time, but happy its fixed! I'm so upset. I decided to treat myself to a manicure after having been home 24/7 for the last 11 weeks with my new baby. I asked for the same length and shape of the white nails, and had to leave with the dark nails shown. Yes I asked for the dark color, but everything else is terrible, and honestly the pictures make my nails seem not so bad. I would've asked for them to be redone by someone else except I had my baby with me who needed to be fed and put down for a nap so I didn't have another two hours for them to take the nails off and redo them. I came in on Aug 28th for a mani/pedi. The Mani was done by Tommy. Hasn't lasted even 2 weeks. I've always received the exact same services... but I've been charged 3 different prices. $120, $145 and then this last time $90... I spoke with Mercedes about this because I always get a dip mani and a gel pedi... I don't get designs etc. Before this Salon I was getting dip and the dip would last me several weeks... I am new to Arizona and I had been hesitant on finding a place right near campus where I could go for a nice set of acrylics. But I found this place online and decided to give it a try. I was greeted immediately and all the employees there are super friendly. It was a welcoming environment, you can tell. When I first walked in, the place was busy but that is definitely a sign of a good salon. My appointment was 1:30 and I came early and they helped me as soon as they were available, which was around 1:00. My stylist was very kind, a great conversationalist and I am just so upset with myself for not getting her name. She was efficient, she designed my nails perfectly and I am so pleased with her service. One of the reasons why I absolutely enjoyed the salon is that they do a rewards card where if you pay cash or are an ASU STUDENT a certain amount of times, you can get $15 off your sixth session/appointment. P.S. I am an ASU student and I definitely recommend going to this salon for the rewards program and because of how close it is to campus. When I went in they made me talk to the same guys who was convinced they were straight and then tried to just file them (which would make it look worse) but refused to fix the nails. My friend and I needed a last minute walk-in appointment to get our nails done for a wedding later that day and decided to come here because they had good reviews on Yelp and they were in a reasonable driving distance from my apartment. The location is very nice inside and super clean. The chairs that you sit in while you get your nails done are super comfy and stylish. They have endless colors to select from and everything has a matching gel color. I love that they use cute colored wash cloths for the sink rather than disposable paper towels. I love the environmentally friendly aspect of this. The guy that did my nails (sorry I never did catch your name) was super funny, he was very careful about doing my nails, and he did a wonderful job! I had broken my thumb nail a few days prior and it had gone into my nail bed and was really sore and he was so careful with my finger. He consistently checked in to make sure I was doing ok and that he wasn't causing me any pain. He was meticulous about making sure there was no polish overpaint specks on my cuticles. After, he did a quick hand and forearm massage with some very nicely scented OPI lotion. The store was getting busy but I never once felt like he was rushing. Visiting from Los Angeles, just got a Gel manicure and regular deluxe pedicure. I had Trish for manicure and David for pedicure. Overall the service was 4 stars. First time getting a Gel mani. Both manicure and pedicure were done simultaneously. My appointment was at 2:30 and I was done by 3:05. They're quick! In terms of quality: the pedicure was nice because even though it was a deluxe pedicure it include a massage and brief hot stones. David was great with the massage. Pedicure looks good too. No complaints. For the gel manicure, there were some mistakes and maybe it was because it was being done at the pedicure chair and not on a table. From afar, the manicure looks fine. But if you look closely, it's not very neatly applied. I wouldn't say it is sloppy, but I also wouldn't say it is meticulously applied. The top coat bubbled on three fingers but Trish noticed it and fixed it (thank you!) But even with that, the gel manicure experience I got today was probably worth $20-25. I'm used to my manicurists going slow because they're really meticulous about a very clean, even, and polished look. But this experience was not so much focused on polished and even. I've been here twice, both times for a pedicure and I really like this shop. The environment is so relaxing the staff is super friendly, the decor is beautiful and most importantly they do a really good job. I always walk right in and get acknowledged immediately. I pick my color and go to my pedicure bowl where the staff brings me a bottle of water and makes sure the water temperature is to my liking. The chairs are very comfortable and relaxing. I always opt for the express pedicure because to be honest when I go it's not for a leg massage but to get my toes looking acceptable. You get pretty much the same treatment as a regular pedicure just minus the massage and I'm totally cool with that. The price is awesome too compared to other local shops. I like the shop, they do a good job, the staff is friendly, price is right, there's a lot of nearby parking, and there's plenty of space and employees for multiple customers. I have been here before but stopped because not worth the money. My tech was closed and I needed a fill and OMG I have never had uglier nails and way to short. I want square with rounded corners. She messed up one hand and she was rounding the nail so bc of error had to make them shorter. The rounded corners are uneven and look it how think they are. I have never had mail be higher then my fingers. It's not blended so cheap and tacky. I paid more then my normal tech for this garbage. No I have to have my nail tech fix it and cost me more money.
