To start the beet salad, Caesar salad or jumbo shrimp cocktail are amongst the best, and as an entree you simply can't beat the NY strip, medium with the house rub. Went to Chop for our first time, what a disappointment. We ordered two medium rare steaks. When they arrived our waiter served mine first then my girlfriends. Small annoyance but that was only the beginning of service which falls way short of a restaurant claiming high caliber. My steak was over cooked a solid medium. When I called the waiter over to correct this he chose to argue with me that it was not over cooked. After some sharp words he took it away saying he had been told by the kitchen to try to not return food. My girlfriend's steak was cook properly and she was really enjoying it. By the time my second steak arrived she was nearly finished her meal. Which defeats the sharing a meal concept of dinning. The waiter served my steak placing it in front of me backwards, bone facing me so I had to turn the plate around in order to cut into my dinner. Obouiouvsly the staff is either not trained or could care less about detailed proper service. That is forgivable at a diner but not a restaurant acting like an upscale eatery. Old fashioned steak house with older decor, good wine list but with high markups. The night we were there, a slow night, the service was slow and not of the calibre or at least efficiency that you would expect for the prices which are steep. I had the bone in ribeye which was very good while my companion had the lamb chops which she said were excellent. Creamed spinach was just ok to me(but I am not a huge fan of it), and mashed potatoes were just mashed potatoes. The ribeye was pretty heavily seasoned with a peppery coating which was good but also pretty heavily salted. Desserts were decent if unspectacular. Overall food was good but too not good enough to justify the prices. Be aware steak sizes are large but my preference would be smaller sizes, lower prices. read more

After dining here New Years Eve at the table 300 on its own level we were so impressed we called again to book the same table at the same time for 10 people this year. We were told that they would not be able to confirm our reservation until the day of because the owner may want this table for his friends. What a great venue. First impressions are five star quality from the architecture and wine list at the bar. We visited with a party of 5 friends for my birthday. It was nice because they offer a $50 credit on your birthday, then each guest was given a $40 voucher to use at a future date. The atmosphere is nice and you are paying for top notch service and professional waiters. Aside from that, I didn't feel the food was spectacular enough to give it a 4 or 5 star rating. The food lacked the taste sensations that so many other Buffalo restaurants deliver consistently. I ordered a filet which was cooked perfectly. Was it the best steak I've ever had? Hmm, I don't know about that. Everything was good but I just wasn't blown away. After we paid our bill, which was mostly cash and some on one credit card, the waiter came back and asked how much cash we had given him because apparently he hadn't counted it before he put it away. I didn't really understand why he wouldn't have gone back and figured it out rather than question us about how much we gave him. There was a substantial cash tip put in with that money and it seemed like he didn't even realize it. It left a bad taste in my mouth afterward. I was most disappointed later in the evening, when I realized my boyfriend had called earlier in the day and had given his credit card information to order my friends and I a bottle (or 2 if we wanted) of Champagne. We never got the champagne. It would have been a very nice surprise. All in all, the food was good. Our service was good, minus a few kinks. I love the Chophouse. They do valet so always drive up to the front circle. I love the decor it is so wonderful to sit in this restaurant. I love the menu I always can find a side that I can savor. I honestly have to say this restaurant has seriously gone down hill. We have visited this restaurant multiple times prior to our last horrifying experience. Never before have we recieved such terrible service in the restaurant or have been treated so rudely by management staff. A phone call was made to management the day after to express our experience. Management happened to be busy and yet we never recieved a return phone call. A letter was sent to management expressing the experience, and again no resposse. And most recently, we voiced our concerns on their Facebook page, only to have the management team call us "A joke" and then delete our post. Poor establishment. read more

The difference is clear, and it starts in the parking lot with friendly fast valet service. Great bar area to have drinks while your table is made ready. If you appreciate a perfect steak, then Buffalo Chophouse is your place. I've gone a few times...every time my steak was cooked to perfection. The steaks are so flavorful with a nice crust on the outside but still cooked to my liking on the inside while still being tender. That my friends, is hard to perfect. You may think you've had a good steak in your lifetime, but not until you try BCH. I prefer the filet while my boyfriend gets the NY strip steak and both are perfection.The sides that go along with the meat are delicious as well. You can't go wrong with the mashed potatoes or any of the vegetables. The lobster mac and cheese is divine....lobster and mac and cheese. What more could a girl ask for!? As far as appetizers go, I can only recommend the roasted banana peppers because that is the only appetizer I allow my boyfriend and I to get when we go. Honestly, the best banana peppers you will ever have. The cheese blend inside is perfect. We've also split the iceberg wedge salad and french onion soup. Now I know what you're thinking...it's hard to mess up a wedge salad. But they make their own bleu cheese dressing, which is appreciated. The french onion soup is in my top 3 for favorites in Buffalo! For dessert, we get the crème brulee, which is pretty good. The workers are so professional and constantly making sure everything is to the guests satisfaction. Very friendly and helpful...they even come over and fold your napkin for you if you get up to go to the bathroom! The inside is nicely decorated, a little tacky in parts. But I love their giant red chairs that you could be seated in. You feel like royalty! If you're coming to BCH, be prepared to spend a decent amount of money. Everything is a la carte...meaning you're paying for your meat and sides separate (sides are family style so they're big enough to share). Went here with my beau. Our server Dan was fantastic and the busser in his section was great as well. We started with crab cakes(cooked just right) then he ordered the Kansas city strip. He said it was seasoned perfectly. I ordered the bone in the filet. The most tender steak I have ever eaten we got side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. The mashed potatos were not out of this world and the asparagus were very good but who goes to the Chop House for sides?! Because it is a la cart I reccomend ordering just one side. We saved room for dessert of course. I ordered the crème brûlée and my beau ordered a bananas foster. Both were delicious. We both agreed for the service you recieve and meal the prices were fair. I was so disappointed with my dining experience at this prime steak house. Upon arriving I was interested in viewing the luxurious elegant ambiance of this building. Seated to the left of the bar facing awall I was unable to view the property. I ordered the 20oz Delmonico steak medium rare it was not tender. The waiter retuned my steak leaving my bloody plate with my cold potato. He returned with another steak and potato removed my plate and disappointed again took my dinner home. They removed the cost of my dinner and hoped I would return again. I will return again ask to be seated upstairs and order the 8oz fillet mignon 20oz of meat is way too much. Obviously a new chef on board here! My filet had so many peppercorns/spices on the outside that it was difficult to eat without a drink of water after each bite. House salad didn't have garbanzo beans or olives like stated on menu but hummus and a olive paste on side of dish! Very weird! Other people in my party had same issue with their beef. Way too much pepper being used! Waiter never came back to our table to see how our meals were until we were done! And when we told him about the pepper issue he replied "Everyone has their own taste palette" Ok, so I have to eat over peppered beef cuz someone in the kitchen likes it that way??? We were seated on third floor so maybe that is why our food came out almost room temperature and the waiter was so scarce. And we were the ONLY people seated on the 3rd level for some odd reason. Also, our tablecloth has some gross stains all over the side where I was sitting. At these prices? Maybe a clean tablecloth would be nice! This wasn't our first visit but it was definitely our last! The Chophouse is probably Buffalo's best restaurant for special occasions. It's classy, traditional, and old school in a good way. The waiters are attentive and you can expect your steak to be cooked exactly the way you like it and the Bearnaise sauce is amazing. All the dishes, including the more expensive ones like the surf and turf, are well worth the price. Usually I go once a year with my family around Christmas time and the family style portions are perfect for us, though I imagine they would be too large for just two people. If you're not up for sharing, this may not be the place for you. read more
