Been here a couple of times for happy hour, but finally went for a proper meal. I took advantage of their Buy One, Get One Free lunch special, which comes with the caveat of the second meal is covered only up to $15 (nothing is 15 dollar except the salads). So you will still spend a few dollars extra with the special. Still a great deal to get a meal for later or if grabbing lunch with someone downtown. I opted for the Chez Burger and Pulled Pork Sandwich (for later). The burger was 8oz Chuck/Ribeye Blend Angus with Fig Jam, Garlic Aoli on a Brioche bun. It came with a side of fries and was delicious! I highly recommend the burger. I took a bite of the pulled pork to try it while it was freshly served it was alright. It had a bit of a different taste to it that I'm used to with pulled pork, but that could have been due to the Citrus Coleslaw served on the sandwich. The brunch was amazing. The waiter, David, was great. He let us sit out by the windows. Checked in enough but also gave us enough time with our food. The mimosas were great. The bathrooms are so cute. Each one has its own theme. I had to look at all of them. They were super clean too! Only concern: the walk way before getting into the hotel area from the valet was super wet. Had a caution sign but I think it could've been dried maybe occasionally. I had crutches and when I was walking in, my crutch slipped. Scared myself. Only disike: the valet guy was twit. I tipped him as we were leaving since I was the last one out and by the time I turned around I was just waiting there for him to get the car but he gave the keys to the driver and told her to just walk to the car. So we had to go in the rain and get in between a tight space to get in the car. If I knew that he had told her to just get her car, I wouldn't have tipped him. Think he should be a little more courteous as valet is valet for a reason! read more

I will start by saying the positives driving some rating- our server was amazing. I can't recall his name (young kid with glasses) but he was so great and friendly and this doesn't reflect him. Additionally the appetizers we had were delicious- the burnt ends and the bread with the fig butter. But then it went downhill. We had to send back a steak for being well done when the request was medium rare. When the next steak came back it was medium rare but hardly any seasoning or sear on it. By the time the second one came out, my fiancée and I did not even get to eat together because it took so long. The potato wedges were hard and undercooked with his steak as well. Separate from the food, the hotel had what seemed to be workers who were off-shift dressed in going out clothes going in and out of the kitchen and at the hostess desk being loud and inconsiderate of those dining. That, coupled with the fact that the restaurant is not in a private area, was extremely distracting and doesn't fit the bill for an eating experience that is supposed to be more high end. Overall the cost of dining here was absolutely not worth the food quality or the ambiance which was super disappointing. We came here to enjoy a drink at the revolving bar after dinner elsewhere. They have such a unique seasonal drink menu. They also have elaborate mocktails with quality ingredients. I've noticed a lot of that in Ontario, especially Toronto, even at chains, but it's not really a thing in the States. Kudos. My husband had a s'mores martini with stoli vanilla vodka, creme de cacao, and chocolate liquor - complete with a big marshmallow and graham cracker chocolate rim. So good. I had something called a Fireside. With ingredients like Grey Goose vodka, pomegranate liquor, simple syrup, maraschino liquor, triple sec, sweet vermouth, and angostura bitters, I couldn't understand why it was called 'Fireside' but it sounded yummy. Then I tasted it. All those fruity ingredients, and it tastes like a more refined fireball. What witchcraft is this? Angostura bitters can have a hint of cinnamon. I guess it came from that. It tasted magical at any rate. Just an enchanting mix of flavors with a hint of spice. Great service. The only downside is the seats are secured to the floor. The menu is pretty steeply priced, although there are pizza options, but unfortunately the pizzas are only available at the bar. For dinner, we shared the roasted carrots appetizer, a caesar salad and the scallop entree. It was cool that they automagically split the plates into two portions, which was really appreciated! For those using a Staycation package, read the fine print in that drinks are not included, so be sure to order the full $99 worth of food if you want to get it comp'd (and don't forget to tip on the whole meal). Each plate was beautifully and eloquently presented. Service was good, but they seemed a tad understaffed and overwhelmed. This was my first time eating at Chez Ami. From other reviews, I had high expectations and they didn't disappoint. We had ordered our cocktails at the bar, just prior to our reservation time. The bartender did a great job preparing them. He was very methodical and mixed one cocktail at a time, which is probably why they turned out so perfect. I like my Martinis up. I don't know how he did it but it was the coldest Martini I have ever had. My guess is he chilled the glass with a shot of liquid nitrogen. It was great. After being seated for dinner and reviewing the menu, I ordered French Onion Soup as a starter. The soup tasted very good. The only thing that was odd about it was that there was some sort of breadcrumb/grated cheese mixture on top of the melted cheese that although tasty, had a weird mouth feel. I would still order it again. The rest of my meal was fine. I had short ribs for my entree and bread pudding for dessert. Only thing I didn't care for is that the bread pudding had a wood smoke taste. It may have been baked in a wood fired oven. I don't mind smoked savory food but I'd rather not have smoke flavored desserts. It was a very enjoyable meal that was made even better by great conversations with friends. However, next time I will order the chocolate cake for dessert. The diner at the next table was raving about it. read more

I ordered the Goose in the Garden drink because it sounded refreshing and citrusy, but it legit tasted exactly like a watermelon jolly rancher. Maybe that sounds like a treat to you! My mom ordered a steak with a side of brussel sprouts and bacon after reading a rave review on the sprouts. Unfortunately they were pretty under cooked but the waitress did a great job getting my mom a replacement side dish. Other than the amount of flies (which were starting to get out of hand) the atmosphere was really nice and we all enjoyed our meals for the most part. A few weeks back I had dinner at Chez Ami for the very first time to celebrate my girlfriend (Tianna C) graduating college. Her family came up to visit and this restaurant was the perfect place to enjoy everyone's final night of the weekend. This restaurant is located inside of the Curtiss Hotel and is absolutely beautiful. If you enjoy sitting at the bar then you'll enjoy sitting at a bar that rotates every hour, which is pretty cool if you ask me. The staff was friendly throughout our visit and my only complaint is that you are not allowed to wear a hat in the restaurant, I realize this might be trivial to some but as someone on the autism spectrum my hat is kind of my safety net and a lot changes when it's not on. It's 2019, I think my overpriced Gucci hat qualifies as nice enough for this outdated policy. Onto the food! The menu is pretty large and offers a ton of different burger, pizza, chicken, pasta, salads, and every option in between. I ended up going with the prime rib special that came with vegetables and potatoes. The steak itself was absolutely delicious and I loved the marinade that was on it. The steak was rare (just how I like it), juicy, and full of flavour. The potatoes were pretty standard and the same can go for the vegetables, but neither of those things were what I was really interested in. Overall, the staff was great, the food was delicious, the restaurant was beautiful, and even though I strongly dislike certain policy's, I did enjoy my night at Chez Ami. We went here as a group of 4 for a birthday brunch on a Sunday. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. I had reservations and we were sat right away. We started with some cocktails. At first the waitress told us some of the cocktails weren't available but then we were told they did have all the ingredients so all were available. I ordered the Butterfly Effect with citrus vodka, butterfly pea flower tea, and a few other ingredients. 2 other cocktails were ordered and a pitcher of grapefruit mimosas. When drinks were delivered I knew mine wasn't correct as it looked like a coffee drink. The waitress corrected quickly and my correct drink was absolutely beautiful, bright purple, and it tasted good as well. The grapefruit mimosas were good too. I had the crab benedict for my meal. The eggs were perfectly cooked, there was a fair amount of crab and the hollandaise was good and did not overpower the dish. The crispy potatoes that came with the meal were delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. One in the party had the steak and eggs and the meal was huge and they said the steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I just know she was frustrated because I work in a restaurant as well, so I know how it is going these days. The menu wasn't as big as I would like, but I did find something I would eat. I got the chicken. It was perfectly cooked, and the presentation was great. My boyfriend got the bass, and he said it was great. I don't eat seafood, so I didn't try it. We ate here a few weeks back as part of the staycation package and although the meal was fine, I have to admit I was overall a little disappointed. As part of the staycation package you get three courses from a greatly reduced menu - a soup/salad course, and entree, and a desert. We ended up ordering the bread along with it (and honestly this light have been the best part of the meal). I had the caeser, steak frites, and creme brulee. The caeser was pretty dry and came with fish on top, I ended up going through the motions and eating about half the salad. The bread however was fantastic. Fresh, warm, with lots of salted butter. The steak that came out was practically still alive on my plate and sitting on a thick bed of bearnaise sauce. The problem here was that the steak had no real flavor, I'm not even sure they seasoned it and the sauce was pretty much the only thing I could taste (since every piece was sitting in it, it was unavoidable at that point). I really wanted to enjoy the steak but it tasted like hot lemon meat. The creme brulee was also really excellent, one of the better ones I've ever tasted. I got an email advertising their takeout Easter Brunch and was very intrigued by the pricing. There were several choices and we got the 2-4 people for $30 and then added on kielbasa and Sauerkraut for an additional $20 to enjoy tomorrow on Dyngus Day. I called a few days before to order ahead and gave my credit card information over the phone for contactless payment. We were able to pick the time we wanted to pick it up. We pulled into the circular drive and called to say we were there, and they brought it right out to the car within minutes. We picked the breakfast pizza, frittata, root vegetables and potatoes, vegetables, pastries/muffins and very berry pie. Everything was delicious. We did have to heat it up when we got home because we live about 25min from downtown but that's to be expected. There were 2 of us eating it and we have plenty of leftovers, half of everything including the pizza. The pastries and pie tasted homemade and not store bought. This was the first place we went to when patio dining became allowed to celebrate my bf's birthday which was earlier in the week. The menu was small, but offered something for everyone. The tables were spaced appropriately and I was very comfortable with the wait staff's sanitary guidelines they were following. My bf got the filet which was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It had an incredible bacon jam over the top. He is typically more of a ribeye guy, but said the filet was excellent. None of the entrees were calling to me, so I ordered the summer salad and the crab and avocado toast appetizer. Both were delicious. The salad was refreshing and the avocado toast had four large pieces that were very filling. It was served mixed with a harissa aioli which gave it the slightest kick. I always get the fall salad which consists of mixed greens, fresh apple slices, craisins, pecans, blue cheese and citrus vinaigrette. I love the sweet and savory. For dinner I ordered the boneless short rib with polenta. It was so huge that I couldn't finish it all, I wanted to save room for dessert which is my favorite. The apple almond bread pudding with a side of vanilla gelato drizzled with caramel... delicious! The next morning we met for breakfast at the restaurant. It was buffet style, however, I was pleased to see a made to order omelet station set up! My omelette was delicious, it was the best part of breakfast. Oui Oui, Chez Ami, not exactly a French Restaurant but its fun to Say, but what it is though is one of Buffalo's most Upscale Restaurants in an Old School Building. Just on the intersection of Franklin & West Huron is Buffalo's most luxurious 5-Star Hotel where out of Town visitors and locals can be pampered like royalty and partake in a unique one of a kind Fine Dining Experience. Who better to run that Kitchen than the Dynamic Duo of Bruce Wieszala & Jess Kubiak, who compose Plates so Beautifully that it looks like Elegant Artwork being put in front of you. Just like any usual Saturday, Downtown Buffalo is always busy and there's always some Construction going on. Instead of coming through the front Entrance, we mistakenly got in through the Back way and what a Coincidence that Kathy, Jim, Mike & Abby were right at the Table by the Back Door. It always so good to catch up with one another, but then we got on with it. First up was the Drinks, Nathan getting the Classic Blue Moon with a light Foamy Head, Grandma getting the Butterfly Effect mixed with Lemon infused Vodka & Lavender Simple Syrup, Kathy & Abby enjoying a Refreshing Goose in the Garden, in really Tall Can filled with Watermelon Basil Vodka & Strawberry Puree, Mike sipping a Blueberry Lavender with Blueberry Vodka & Sour Mix, Jimmy just went simple with a Gin & Tonic, as for me in order for me to figure out what I wanted for Dinner I had to have a Clear Mind. Which was also the name of my Drink, this tall chalice loaded with Ice and Loganberry Gin, Mediterranean Tonic, Pink Peppercorn, Hibiscus and a Slice of Grapefruit. Next up was a bunch of Appetizers, First up was Beet Cured Salmon with Pickled Beets, Cucumbers, Creme Fraiche, Salmon Roe, Everything Bagel Crisps & Dill (The most elegant way of Lox), Charred Octopus with Chickpeas, Marcona Almonds & Romesco (should've had more than one Tentacle), Roasted Carrots with Orange Blossom Honey, Herb Ricotta & Smoked Pistachios. One of my Favorite Bites was the Brussel Sprouts with Togarashi, Fried Shallots & Soft Boiled Egg, Leaves were Crispy, Balance of Sweet & Salty from the Honey & Fish Sauce and you break that Yolk and let it ooze Out, We also had their Caesar Salad with little Anchovies scattered around. Abby & Kathy had a Couple of Vegan Appetizers of their Own, Roasted Cauliflower with Golden Raisins, Capers & Pinenuts and Chilled Apple & Fennel Soup with Pickled Apples & Tunisian Olive Oil. The Main Event was right around the corner and just before our Entrees came out I got myself another Drink. That's my Jam, a sweet & sour drink consisting of Luxardo Cherry Liqueur, Lemon Juice & Vodka. Then the Main Courses came, Abby & Kathy got Vegan Plates of Cauliflower, Tomatoes, Brussel Sprouts, Carrots, Corn & Mushrooms. Nathan got one of their Specials, Fresh Ravioli filled with a Farmer's Cheese with Apples, Guanciale, Spiced Walnuts, Brown Butter & Applewood Smoked Ricotta Salata. Mike & Rick got the Shellfish Bucatini with Lobster, Prawns, Tomato Confit & Pecorino Romano, while Mike enjoyed it, Rick thought the Pasta was a bit overcooked. Jimmy got the Smoked Pork Tenderloin with Cannellini Beans, Swiss Chard & Plums. Sometimes in life there's nothing better than a beautiful Roasted Chicken with a Corn Puree, Charred Corn, Smoked Fingerling Potatoes, Cipollini Onions, Black Trumpet Mushrooms & Confit Tomatoes. Perfectly cooked Bird with Potatoes that have a subtle hint of smoke with each Bite you took and Sweet Corn in 2 different Variations. To finish off the Meal both me and Nathan got Desserts, no better way to finish off a Meal. Nathan got the Vanilla Panna Cotta with Roasted Peaches, Peach Compote & Lemon Gel. I would not have enjoyed that Dessert as I am not a fan of Peaches, Nathan thought the Panna Cotta part of it was part of the Plate because it was white and blended in the plating. I got the Almond & Cherry Mousse Cake with Chocolate Ganache, Cherry Sorbet & Cocoa Crumble. Bruce even told me that Almond & Cherries are a Classic Combination, the Sorbet was refreshing, Chocolate was rich but not overly sweet and it was a nice way to Finish off the Meal. Bruce came over to our Table and talked with us for 5 Minutes, we thanked him for the Food and he went back into the Kitchen. We asked our Waiter if we could go up on the Rooftop Patio but it was closed for the night. Either way the experience from the Food to the Service was spot on. My wife and I went out for dinner and loved it! The atmosphere was great and so was our waiter! He did a great job of taking care of us. We never felt rushed. Ever course was paced out perfectly. Don't listen to the complaints about a small menu, that's fine dining! Appetizer: who would ever think a vegetable like carrots would make a good appetizer? They were so good! And the bread is made there every day and they even have their own sweet butter that goes with it! Main Dish: My wife's scallops were very good with apples, celery and chorizo. My ribeye was very good with a tasty steak sauce and fried potatoes! Dessert: our server asked if we would wait for our coffee as he dumped what was sitting and he made it fresh for us! The desserts were different but very good because they were so light. They satisfied your sweet tooth without making you feel bloated and over stuffed, lol. We got the flourless chocolate cake and an almond raspberry cake. Both served with a scoop of sorbet! Would highly recommend and my wife and I will definitely come back! read more

I think i generally agree with many of the mention here - this place has the atmosphere of a lackluster hotel restaurant with some sky high prices. I had been planning on booking this restaurant for a while for a special occasion and glad that we only ended up going here because my parents were staying at the Curtis and it was convenient. Pros: Burrata Salad & Focaccia apps Our server David or Daniel (Im sorry I can't quite remember his name) but he was extremely enthusiastic and took care of us well Sitting by the window area is nice for some people watching I didn't have this but apparently the duck and the 8oz steak was quite good Cons: Lay out of the restaurant is weird and does not feel premium Carbonara was not good, lacked flavor Desserts left much to be desired. read more

I was a little skeptical because of the mixed reviews but I'm glad we tried this place. Service was good. The food was great. We both really enjoyed our salmon dishes. The beet sauce and beets on the side were delicious and accompanied the salmon well. I wasn't a fan of the martini I had. The waitresses replaced it with a Tito's on the rocks which was a $13 (pretty overpriced). Overall, the food was great, the atmosphere is elegant, and the vibes are good so will be back. Tip: you get a free birthday entree! We came here for my birthday and my meal was free. Definitely can't beat that especially for such a nice restaurant. read more

Came here on a Saturday evening after checking out the rooftop bar/lounge first (our bartender Andrew was amazing) This three-course dinner was included in the staycation package. We had the choice of soup or salad. We both opted for a salad one Caesar and one fall salad. For the entrees we had the salmon and the braised short rib. And for our dessert, cheesecake and the bread pudding. All of the portions were huge and tasted great. The restaurant itself is beautiful as well as the exceptional service from Timofey. read more
