If you're going in to sell stuff BEWARE of a buyer named Julian.....he's your typical retail customer hater.....as mean, nasty and awful as they get. I've learned the hard way that if I walk in and Jukian is behind the buy counter, the only move is to turn and RUN! Buffalo Exchange is a great place to shop for vintage-y clothes bargains and sell your old stuff in good shape....just not when Julian is your guy. Example: I walked in last week with a bag and a half of stuff that B.E. typically loves to have.....Levi's 511s, Chuck Taylor sneakers, J. Crew slim fit button downs, etc. much of which was actually posted on the "wants" board....Julian was the buyer and because of my desire to not carry the stuff home on a bus and the desirability of the items, I took my chances against my better judgement. He went thru it all in about 30 seconds AND BOUGHT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, citing as his only reason the items' condition.....intradasting as the items were clearly in fantastic condotion. In fact much of it was never worn/like new. He was so full of himself for this treatment. I've observed him being incredibly rude to many others....such a pompous arse. I even know of employees who work down the street who quit Buffalo because of Julian's treatment of them. The managers in this store are soooooo nice and cool, it's a mystery how he's been able to stick around there for so long mistreating customers regularly. Too bad. Love the store. read more

This was my first time at Buffalo Exchange and before I came into the store, I checked for reviews on Yelp. They had a very spacious place and a lot of clothes- more than I expected. I luckily didn't have a bad vibe with the employees, maybe because I came when it wasn't busy? I did ask to use the fitting rooms, but most of the time, the employees were elsewhere and so I had to wait a bit. I was interested in a few clothing, but they looked like they haven't been washed. Some marks and stains on some of the clothing and the clothes are pricier than I thought here... not sure if it would be considered as "thrift" shopping. I walked out with 2 shirts that almost totaled $40. And for used clothing? Definitely more expensive than if I was to buy something new from the clearance section at the mall. It was cool to experience the store for the first time, but I'll definitely take my money elsewhere next time. After lugging up several bags of nice Fall merchandise to sell, I was told that they only bought "seasonal" items. Since it was May, I left with all my stuff with the intention of returning in August sometime. I decided a few days later to take some nice Spring tops and dresses up there with the assumption that they would definitely want them. These were VERY nice items, (a few designer pieces) that I had barely worn. The girl that started out helping me was loving my stuff and things were looking hopeful until another employee with nothing better to do (even though there was a LONG check-out line of people needing help) came over, started handling my clothes like they were covered in poop, snobbishly (and I have no clue why) turned her nose up to everything I brought in and said they couldn't buy any of my clothes because they already had too much stuff on the floor. I told her that I had come shopping there a few weeks prior in HOPES of buying clothes JUST like the ones I was trying to sell them....I had sorted through everything in their store and WISHED I had seen some items like these! It seems they would rather buy gross, stinky, polyester junk out of a box from street kids (saw it happen while shopping around there a few days prior) than fresh, current, beautiful clothing. It wasn't that I was hurt personally or anything (they are just clothes) but I felt sorry for the next 35+ year old gal hoping to find something cool and edgy and would leave empty handed like me. They also refused to buy back a dress I had bought there just a week before (unworn with the tags still on it) for the price I payed for it. ANY reputable store will do that. This place has REALLY gone downhill. It's run by young, unprofessional (unfashionable) kids who are there to feel cool while they gossip and listen to their music while folding clothes. It's so pathetic. I was SO unimpressed and will probably never go back or refer them to anyone. I came here to get rid of my clothes, half of which had price tags. Every item I gave them, either I never wore at all or I wore one time. I gave them some really high end items with price tags still on it....I got 22 dollars for my new AG jeans with price tag still on it of 168. I had some other great items which were in great condition but I got no more than 15-20 dollars for the items. I wanted to get rid of it but on my way home I just wasn't happy about it. Guess it was too late. Maybe I was in shock initially as they were pricing my items as they were pulling it out. Maybe that's why I didn't say anything. I read one review about the people that shop here being snobby. I am not sure...when I went there it looked as if the people that shopped here really needed to shop here. I am sure they have great stuff here...especially since they have my stuff now...but I wouldn't want to buy anything that anyone else has worn. I can't say enough good things about Buffalo Exchange. I collect vintage and designer, and with the competitve prices this is by far the best place in Houston. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I always have Felix buy the clothes I am selling. He REALLY knows his stuff. He prices my items accordingly--a very reasonable number good for both parties. AND, he is pretty easy on the eyes too. Just watching him go through my used clothing with his adorable puppy dog eyes makes me melt everytime. Felix makes Buffalo what it is today!! read more

Omg. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Please stay away from this place!!!! I brought in a 100 Liter bin filled with almost new clothing, perfectly folded, clean, more than half of them with price tags, nothing under 40 dollars and they completely wasted my time. I was there for 20 mins as they went through everything just to tell me that they wanted nothing, then she(tall black girl) proceeded to BALL UP ALL OF MY CLOTHING and stuff it back in my bin as she's "apologizing" for "messing up my perfectly folded clothing". This place is a joke, honestly. If you'd like to save your time, and efforts, please just donate your clothing ANYWHERE else but here!!!!!!! Everything in the entire store has stains and wear and tear on it. It all looks dingy and dirty, and faded. I bought a jacket from this location and the lining fell apart in the washing machine that night and got on all my other clothes when I went home to wash it. I returned the next day and explained the situation and the manager would not let me get store credit for the jacket saying that they can't do anything about it, which was obviously not true. The managers kept saying that they are a resale store, which isn't a good excuse in this case because, as a returning customer who has bought and sold at Buffalo Exchange before, I know this is a higher end thrift store and that they're very selective about the clothes they take in and price their items based on quality and brand. I would expect a store like this to be more responsible for the clothes they select and care more about their customers. A manager even blamed us, the customers, which was unprofessional and rude. Eventually I did get store credit for the jacket and was satisfied about that, but the fact that I had to argue with a manager and fight for my money back was annoying and awkward. This visit left a sour taste in my mouth and I probably won't be coming back except to use my store credit. I don't think that the extra prices at Buffalo Exchange are worth it since customer service is terrible, and I'd rather go back to digging around at cheaper thrift stores. Why is a second-hand Forever 21 turtleneck shirt 21.99? You don't know? Well, neither do I. But this is the way of Buffalo Exchange. I've heard so much about this place and decided to stop by while I was doing some shopping in the area. The store is basically an over-priced Plato's Closet; a clothing thrift store aiming for a younger demographic. The clothes, shoes, and accessories they sell here can be found at the previously mentioned spot. However, the difference is, is that this place charges like the items are brand new and not previously worn by god knows who. I mean, 39.99 for second-hand, well worn heels from Traffic? All of the hipsters whom shop here are getting robbed Robin Hood style. But honestly, get that money Buffalo Exchange. All they did was target the hipster crowd with the store decor and mood and hired store clerks wearing Bill Cosby sweaters and instantly have hundreds of gullible shoppers ready to drop 30+ dollars on used, half of the time name brand items from the mall and other retail outlets. read more

When I first moved here 5 years ago Buffalo Exchange was AMAZING! I both sold and bought all the time. Now they don't buy anything and it shows in their selection. They have a bunch of cheap forever 21 type crap and really ugly costume jewelry. I think I'd take Hot Topic over BE, which is saying something. Too bad, I use to spend tons of money here but don't think I will other to stop by anymore. The old two locations were great but the one on bissonet used to be the best. I am really surprised that anyone is gullible enough to give this store anything but the back of their hand (which is exactly how the Neanderthal 'staff' usually treats customers.) AVOID GOING HERE! Don't waste your time here. I want to start by how horrible customer service is here, some girls here think they're working at Gucci or Prada and they're around bags of recycled clothes that need to be hung up. I'm sorry but that is expected at a designer store. Not a thrift store. The environment used to be chill and it's now gone down the drain. Over crowded with old clothes that are super over priced. Secondly, take your gently used clothes elsewhere they won't take any of them. I had all Zara, Armani, H&M, Express, Diesel, in great conditions. And they took not one item. Yet they had overly used items hanging up for sale. As I waited in line the customer in front of me had all designer, in mint conditions and they only offered them 20 dollars!!! For his items. GUYS THERE ARE MORE WAYS OF SELLING YOUR CLOTHES. They don't pay much for items and turn around and spike the prices on them. Never again! I've visited this Buffalo Exchange a number of times, I've found a lot of cool finds ranging from boots to dresses. It's a really awesome place to find something that no one else you know has. It can be a little pricey, but if you look in the right places you'll find something. I'd love to give this place a rating of five stars, but employees here walk around like they do not want to be bothered and it's kind of intimidating at times. I have not sold at buffalo for a while, but I went against my gut and went in to sell some clothes. I AM SO GLAD I DID! I got a girl with lots of tattoos do I was sure she would think all my stuff was "lame". Wrong! She turned out to be a new manager and was lovely. She was very attentive and chatty, and apologized for me having to wait (10 minutes, not that bad). Anything she didn't take she gave me advice on where else to try taking it to sell. The place were you sell seemed fine. I have seen snottiness there before but maybe they got new staff. They fired that short haired store manager and got some new loud gay guy, he's hilarious. That other girl was MEAN! But anyway. Change your attitudes people maybe you should try again. read more

unlike their snobby sister store in the heights, this location has very friendly service. they have a much better selection of clothes here compared to the other location as well. i did see some clothing and accessories that i thought were pretty cute, but i they didn't buy any of my stuff, so i didn't have money to buy anything :c i'm an impatient shopper, and have shopping OCD and ADD. if i were to shop here i'd have to go through every rack in a particular order, and that's when my ADD kicks in, then i'm outta here. if i walk into a store and don't see anything that catches my eye right away, i don't bother rummaging through every single item. read more

This store is not what it used to be..the old location on westheimer was a fun experience filled with affordable vintage alternative style, and unique pieces. When they moved to the new location a few years ago the atmosphere totally changed. The style of clothes all looked either like the pieces nobody picked at the thrift store, or random "modern"boutique items from a few seasons ago and the few pieces that are worth picking up are overpriced to the point where I think I'd rather buy new clothing since it would be the same price or cheaper. (Seriously. Used tops for 25$ is what I saw today) even when the quality of the pieces and general style of clothing the store is selling changed, at least the prices were kept reasonable for a secondhand shop. A little pricier than thrifting but not unreasonable. When I came in today I was shocked to see most of the items priced around 18$ or above per item, mostly in the 20-30 dollar range for one item. No thanks. Maybe I'm getting old as a mid-20 something but I miss the old days of Buffalo.. read more

I am thoroughly disappointed as a first-time, seller at the Westheimer location in Houston. I recently brought in two (2) pair of men's designer shoes gently worn, (originally $200.00 each), a pair of Gucci aviator sunglasses, (originally $295.00), a brand new pair of Tom's shoes I have never worn due to being a gift and a raffia straw hat by Makin's Hats purchased at Nordstrom in the Houston Galleria. (originally, $245.00) The store outright refused to accept any of my merchandise and the items they were interested in, they wanted to give me pennies for! All items brought there were fine items and to reject them with such vigor is appalling! The store supposedly offers pre-owned, designer items and if I may say so, I have never found anything or seen anything in the shape or quality that my items garnered, so the staff cannot be that adept in their knowledge of quality items if they deem pieces from Aldo to trump an item from say, Gucci, Cole-Haan or Nordstrom. Perhaps the staff needs a refresher-course in buying, selling and trading designer items instead of priding themselves in selling worn-out tennis shoes, cheap quality hats, overly-used designer handbags and off-price store overruns! Sometimes when I go to sell my items, the girls know fashion and what is in. When I try to sell to the men that work there, they have no clue what they are looking at. The guys pass on all of the good stuff like theory and my seven jeans, ect.. Yet when I look around at what they have for sale, I see a lot of Old Navy and cheap clothing that I wouldn't buy. Old Navy new, maybe. Old Navy used, no.The staff has been nicer than they used to be. One time I went to sell a $350 dollar distressed leather jacket that had been worn one time unfortunately. The dumb teenager told me that they jacket was too used looking. What an idiot!!! She didn't even know what distressed looked like! Here's a pointer, if there are guys that are buying clothes that day, don't sell. Wait until the girls are buying. They will know what to buy. Well most of them! read more

Be very careful if you decide to shop there. Parking is limited and if you park around back your car WILL BE TOWED! There are no signs that designate between vendors and the bar next door. I purchased $28.17 worth of merchandise and with the added towing fee of $218.00. My total experience cost me $246.17. If you are thinking of stopping, drive on by. I've been shopping at buffalo exchange since I was a freshman in High School and man oh man has this store gone down hill since then. When Buffalo was at it's old location on Westheimer it was everything! The staff was always helpful and friendly for the most part, and the selection was always on point. Time has gone by and not only has the location changed, but the overall authenticity and magic of the store has also disappeared. The selection is so dull and my last few visits I couldn't find anything interesting when I usually walk out with at least five or six items. My last visit there is the reason for this review and why I will continue to never shop there ever again. About a month ago I went in to sell some of my clothes. To my knowledge the store manager was the one who did my buy. She told me I could shop around and that she would let me know when my buy was ready so I did exactly that. The store wasn't busy whatsoever and it was taking a little longer than usual for my trade to be handled so I went up to the counter where a nice young lady explained to me that they didn't find anything they could sell. I thanked her for letting me know, but that I was caught off guard because I was waiting for the first person that was handling my buy to let me know and that she never came up to me. As soon as I was finished explaining myself, the manager came back up to the counter munching on a salad bowl and chatting with the girl I was talking to, and then proceeded to walk back to where the register was to check people out. I had found some pants I liked so I walked to the other line and waited to be checked out. I get closer to the line and the woman starts banging on a bell and shouts "I NEED SOMEONE TO CHECK OUT, I NEED SOMEONE TO CHECK OUT NOW!" A gentleman came rushing from across the store and starts checking out the girl in front of me and she proceeds to tell this girl that she can't shop there and that she was banned, pretty much making this customer feel very embarrassed. The customers that were around stopped what they were doing and looked up at the two and we all were nervous it was going to be a bigger issue but the manager proceeded to keep telling her that she couldn't shop there and wouldn't give a reason when asked. It was my turn to check out and the whole time she was very red in the face and didn't say one word to me. When I took my pants from her I told her thank you and she just looked at me with some crazy eyes. I will not be returning to this store ever again and I'm deeply saddened that a store that once was so beloved in my heart can't be apart of my thrifting adventures anymore. read more

they should've closed this buffalo exchange instead of the one on bissonnet. everyone was friendly at the other location, and had a good sense of customer service and fashion. if i could write 10 bad reviews i would, but i will try and put it into 1. i walk in. there's about what seems like 1 million employees, and not one of them greets me. i start to think they are all robots instead of humans and never had a human interaction. so, i walk to the counter to try and sell my old clothes. then i finally see 2 employees chatting with each other, so i realize they are not robots. they continue chatting while i'm standing in front of them with a bag of clothes, until i say hello, and they respond with "how can i help you?" while they search through the bag, i begin to realize they will not purchase my items because none of them seem to have a sense of fashion, especially the woman looking through my bag. however, she slightly proved me wrong and picked a vintage army jacket ($60) and a fringe top (25$) and offers me a grand total of $10.99. I leave, no one tells me bye, not even the unstylish woman who was "helping" me. I realize I left my phone on the counter. 5 minutes later I walk in, and it is still on the counter, in front of 2 employees chatting their life away. I grab it, they do not even look at me, or say a word. I could've been stealing the phone! They couldn't even put it up in case someone were to take it. Ridiculous. I would give -1000 stars if I could. I hope they bulldoze this place down along with the employees in it, but I hope no one gets hurt in the process. read more

I've been to this store twice--one to check it out (did not see much variety--lots of costumes--and was not impressed by quality of items for sale). Parking was also limited. The second time was to consign some items, which I thought were pretty good considering what I had seen on offer before. I had J Brand, Gap, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, Nine West, and some vintage type items in small to medium sizes. They were in very good condition because I had not worn them much and had simply outgrown them in size. After waiting in line and having my things picked over, I was told they were willing to buy ONE item for $4 (four) and that I had to go and wait in ANOTHER line to collect it. I passed and packed up my things as best as I could since they were now in a pile and wouldn't fit into my bags like before. Decided to donate them to Goodwill so at least they go to a good cause. Next time, I will just donate items and let that be my reward as trying to consign here was a waste of time. read more

I have been toseveral Buffalo Exchanges in different cities and I understand sometimes the people who work here can be snotty. But the Houston store take the cake! I came in with a bag of clothes some only worn once and most of them from Nordstrom. The guy took my bag of clothes and went threw them as if they were trash! Then he would turn around to tell his co-worker something in the ear right in front of me. He was obviously gossiping about me. Hello ! I know whats good and whats in I used to be a personal shopper. The things he did take were the items I would have thrown away! Go figure? Newayz he gave me credit ( I chose store credit) for about 6 out of like 40 items I had. Whatever, I just wanted to get rid of my old stuff . But dude, next time you want to scrutinize someone, at least look like u got out of bed and took a bath. It took me a long time, about 2 hours of scouring the racks for something decent but I did manage to find 3 things in the end. I liked this store until a specific incident occurred, one of the employees a girl can't remember her name but she started off really nice than tried to lowkey purchase something. I took in a pair of comme des garçons shoes along with other bags, she went over my clothes than told me my offer without being specific about what they took, knowing I didn't need the clothes I agreed and took the money, after I was about to leave I looked through my bags to make sure I had everything she didn't take and I noticed I was missing my shoes. She saw me looking for them frantically and acted clueless but I could see she Was worried I than asked about The shoes and they Found them hidden under a bunch of clothes priced super cheap! She knew exactly what she was doing she wanted to hide the shoes than purchase them later and didn't tell me they took them because she knew I wouldn't take such a low offer smh I will never return here the employees are young, low life's and sneaky go to the pavement instead they offer discount if you give a good review and let me say they deserve a better review than buffalo anyway read more
