I had a great experience here. I was in New Orleans for the weekend & decided to try the restaurant in my hotel for my last meal before heading home. The service was very friendly and accommodating. Our server made us feel right at home. The food was delicious too. It was weekend brunch, so I had the crab cake benedict, which I would definitely get again. We came at 11:11 but they stop serving breakfast at 11 on the dot. I was initially disappointed but that quickly went away once we tasted all of our food! The French onion was heavily seasoned and had a quality cheese melted on top. The lucky soup was the soup of the day and had white rice, andouille sausage and black eyed peas. It was served with sweet cornbread. It was delicious with a little crystal. The Caesar was yummy, my son said the Caesar dressing was spot on and the croutons were fresh. The burger was cooked perfectly. The mozzarella were SO GOOD and had an amazing cheese pull. They didn't bring me a detailed receipt and took my card without bringing me the bill bc I had it laid on the table. This place wasn't horribly bad but it wasn't that great either. It seemed like they only had one server working and he was doing his best. This venue is pretty small but I like the cozy feeling. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, benedicts, hashbrowns, and grits. The biscuits and gravy were the best part of the meal. Plenty of sausage in the gravy. You can tell the hashbrowns are cooked with a ton of oil. I wish they added seasoning to the hashbrowns. Grits were decent. The benedicts were horrible. Mine were cold and the meat was tough. I am being kind because they had one server and he was trying his best. My food could have been cold because we were in a large party and they were slammed at the time. Stumbled into this place today. I heard the house manager mention that they were short handed, so I will try to chalk up our negatives to that. The service was okay. It took quite a bit to get refills, but that could have been from the no shows. The chicken and waffles were tasty. The biscuit and gravy was good. However, the crab cakes Benedict were disappointing. The poached eggs were hard boiled. There was an egg with the chicken and waffles that was ordered over easy. It was a mess. It was well done and in pieces. This was not great. It was okay at best today. Perhaps we should give it another go, but with so many NOLA brunch options, we doubtfully will. read more

Clean diner that's connected to Blake Hotel. We mainly visited because it was raining hard all morning and wasn't going to be stopping till 1pm and we wanted some brunch. I think most of the hotel guests decided to eat here since it's convenient. It was really crowded, all tables were occupied. We had to wait about 20 minutes to order because I think the server forgot about us. A nice white lady came to help us out after seeing us wait for a while and took our order. THANK YOU TO HER. Even though we asked to order twice, I guess they were just too busy, but she made sure we were taken care of. Our food took about twenty minutes. We had a BLT hamburger with side of fries and the fried catfish with a side of sweet potato fries. The catfish order states that it comes with a side salad. Unfortunately the side salad was forgotten. However, they did give us condiments, napkins and utensils. My friend also requested no cheese due to dairy allergy and there was a bit of cheese but we were able to peel it off. There's also butter on the bun, so for everyone allergic to dairy, make sure you request a plain bun! Overall The food was good! Loved the cat fish and the fries were perfectly crispy. Very poor customer service. We stood at the door 20 minutes while two of the waiters and the manager walked past us and never once acknowledge that we were standing there. After waiting 20 minutes at the door I finally asked if they had a table and they both stated they did not know we needed a table and that we did not say anything. I mentioned to them that was somebody standing at the doorway waiting to be seated. Maybe you should ask as a courtesy. One way to walk us into the restaurant and set us at a table, gave us menus and asked what we wanted to drink. The manager who I think is racist came up with an attitude and angry as I don't know what stating that they're closed and the kitchen is closed. she then proceeded to snatch the menu out of our hands and what a rude attitude stated the kitchen is closed when not serving anymore and walked away. I do believe she does not like Black people and is racist by her attitude clearly totally unprofessional. Please don't eat here. Very bad service very bad attitudes. Period to sit and watch two people standing at the door for 20 minutes and stating that the customer never said anything is beyond stupid to me. read more

I reserve 5 stars for the best of the best but don't let my 4 star review deter you from checking this place out. An easy walk from the hotels on St. Charles Avenue, and even Canal Street, this place has food that's as good as any of the touristy spots (or better) at a decent price. I had the avocado toast at breakfast and the portions were huge. Food was tasty and fresh and the service was excellent. My coffee cup never went empty. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The menu isn't extensive but it has something for everyone, ranging from healthy and vegetarian options to calorie-laden comfort food. My only complaint is that they don't change the tablecloths between customers. They just put a white paper over top so my tablecloth (the side that actually touched my lap) was dirty. In any case, the portions were huge and we had no complaints from the burger salad, to the pasta! The only critique is they were a little skimpy on the half and half. I don't think places fully appreciate how minuscule the amounts in those tiny little cups are. 11/02/23. 1800 hrs. Dinner Comfort food. I needed it and tired of paying $100 for meals. This food served up a "Slap your mama good," large portion of red fish, green beans, and red potatoes (mashed), all on one plate. IPA beer and the best Bread pudding to date. Here in New Orleans a restaurant has to pass my Bread pudding comparison test. I do the same with Chile Relleno at Mexican restaurants. The staff here was sooo attentive and show some southern hospitality, The South is good for. Great conversation I didn't even mind being stood up by my dinner date. He had a work thing lol (wink wink). The location is just a short short walk from the Hotel (The Lafayette) which is located at 600 St. Charles. The bacon, fried green tomatoes, & cheesy grits are good--however Ms Julia who cooks the grits, as well as Kenneth, DeRoy, & Charles who serve the grits made everything taste even better. I held two meetings here and my people raved about the shrimp and grits; about the sausage, eggs, and biscuits: and even said the oatmeal was yummy.
