The first place I tried (not this one) did a terrible job with the shape of my nails. My mom had recommended this place since she had a good first experience here. When I called Bui808 Salon to book, I already had a great first impression. I spoke to a gentleman (I'm assuming is the owner) and he was able to fit me in just 15 minutes after I called and had an appointment available right away. When I arrived, I was kindly provided directions on where to park because I was unfamiliar with the area. Jenny was my nail tech and she happily fixed the shape of my nails and gave me the correct almond shape I originally wanted. She was very kind and paid attention to detail. This was not a good experience. I was rushed from the start and pressured to make quick decisions, especially with color, without being given the space to think or ask questions. The energy felt impatient the entire time. I don't deal with anxiety, but this appointment actually made me feel anxious--that says a lot about the environment. The work itself was average. Not bad, but definitely not worth the experience. There are many nail salons to choose from, and I would go anywhere else before coming back here. First off talk about amazing honest business! Before I started I had put what I thought was a $5 bill in my pocket to tip! Turns out it was a $50 bill I honestly would not have noticed until later! Been coming here ever since I've had horrible experiences with places closer to me. I love that I'm able to walk in and be seen by someone I know who will do a good job. My nails last me about 3-4 weeks. I get acrylic nails with colored powder. This place has become my go to nail spot which has been so hard to find but now I'm not letting go. As long as you speak up about what you dislike about your nails if you're not happy with them they are always willing to fix it. read more

First time that I came, I made an appointment for my daughter and myself. I like that they' take time in ensuring my expectations of what I wanted were met, and my daughter loved her nails. Second time, I did a walk-in with my daughter and cousin. My cousin is difficult to please, but she was also very happy with her experience. The vibe is chill. The service was okay. She could've done a better job on my pedicure. They were sloppy. I had to tell the nail artist to fix something on my toe that was clearly sloppy. I was supposed to get a full set right after but I was afraid of my manicure being sloppy too so I just decided to leave. Waste of money. read more

My nail tech rushed through doing my full set with ombré powder. She did not get the color I picked but chose two different lighter shades to pick from. I had to ask her to file the corners of my nails because it still felt rough and sharp in some areas. I even had to file my nails more when I got home. She also didn't clean up my cuticles at all and didn't put any lotion or massage my hands or forearms at all. Even the customer sitting next to me got a massage at the end of her service. At the end of my service, my nail tech, Tram, just put cuticle oil on my nails and told me to wash my hands. My nails came out nice but not at all happy with the service. Where to start 1st time I went here I had a mediocre experience.I spent most of my service entertaining one of their 6 year old kids.(No one told me it was bring your child to work day)He was playing Roblox on his tablet and came to sit next to me while I was waiting for service.I'm not a horrible person so I was being kind.Finally, the nail tech comes to the second floor and I get to finish my service.Mind you, I DID NOT GET A DISCOUNT FOR BABYSITTING,however I liked my nails and they lasted,since then it's been 1 thing after another.In December I got "cat eye" style for the first time ever. During my pedicure I expressed that I wanted paraffin wax and hot stones. Lan recommended a service that either didn't include it or it included it and she forgot to do it.Either way, I asked for it and did not receive it.For the manicure, the television wasn't connected and I was staring at a wall for the entire duration. I expressed numerous times throughout my service that I would like the movie that was on in the pedicure area be put on there.Idk if they ignored me or it got lost in translation... but it was never turned on.It seems that only a few employees CAN actually speak English which in my opinion should be a reason that they shouldn't be serving customers that ONLY speak English. Finally the service was over and I noticed she was using magnets to move the polish? Idek tbh. She showed me and asked "you like?" I said yes cause it did add a cool effect. I figured it was included in the service for cat eye but I was wrong. Mind you no one has said anything about the magnet being an extra charge. And they proceeded to CHARGE ME EXTRA for a "French tip" magnet design I never requested..... (my sister who got cat eye as well did not get charged extra and her nail tech also used the magnet) I gave them grace yet again and decided to give them one last chance. This time getting dip powder. Vickie at least was fluent in English so I was able to articulate clearly what I wanted. The service was wonderful and while my nails weren't perfect, they looked pretty. My husband on the other hand, developed ATHLETE'S FOOT after his pedicure with Lan and shared that his toes were BURNING the whole time. (That's cause Lan SCRAPED/LACERATED HIS SKIN on not just one but TWO TOE NAILS. ._. She asked my husband if he was okay and his people pleasing self said "yeah". She then continued to RUSH and SCRAPE MY HUSBANDS CUTICLES FURTHER TO THE POINT THAT IT SCABBED. This place LACKS INTEGRITY, that much is clear. I was very happy with my service though. I love getting dip powder cause it never chips. I could do just about anything and the only time anything would happen is if they got too long, the tip of my nail would break off But never have I ever had dip powder chip......... until today. I returned to the salon to find a woman lying flat on the front bench. I went to walk past her to see if I could get the chip repaired and she sat up quickly and asked me "how can I help you?" Turns out the relaxed woman being unprofessional on the front porch actually works here. I give grace yet again cause it's the end of the day you know? I'm sure she's tired. She then begins to repair the chip. To repair you must first remove the previous dip powder. Instead of soaking off the polish to preserve my natural nail she proceeds to SHOVEL a plastic nail tip between the powder and my nail to FORCE IT APART. I've NEVER seen this technique done. Naturally, it HURT. I said "OUCH" and she didn't stop or apologize. There seemed to be ZERO concern or empathy for my well being. Finally the pain is over and she begins to file the nail down. She dips the nail 3x where I guess Vickie dipped it 2x-3x? (The shade of blue ranged from light translucent blue on some nails and darker opaque blue on others on the first day already) The repaired nail is a darker blue than the others now. (The absence of uniform application/color also happened with the cat eye ) Then she proceeds to show Lan to confirm that is it a darker blue. Speaking their language the whole time.I find it disrespectful to knowingly speak a language in the presence of someone that you KNOW doesn't speak your language. I know it's common in nail salons and that doesn't excuse the disrespect. I will not be returning. ALL IN ALL, Nail Longevity: 3/5 English Speaking:2/5 Proficiency: 1/5 (it felt like they kept asking each other for directions on how to do their job? For example, they were acting like they didn't go to cosmetology school and I wouldn't be surprised if that was accurate tbh. Idk I don't speak their language, but that's what I gathered based on body language. Customer Service: 0/5 Integrity: 0/5 Vibe: 1/5 The vibe felt like I was not welcome every time. Convenient location - that's the only good thing about this business. My young teen daughter, exploring her independence, walked there twice. Friday, before Easter was her first experience there...alone. We live nearby and she FaceTimed me to show me who her nail tech was. She was excited and said she had "good service" by the middle aged woman, but forgot her name. When she returned home, she showed me her nails and was really excited about the design. Plain white pedi and acrylic with French tips and a design on two nails for her mani cost her $186!!! She was happy and proud of herself so I said nothing. I had never paid that amount for myself anywhere else, but ok...she's learning. A few weeks later, she calls for a walk in and is told to come in. Once again she goes alone and tells me about her experience with "KIM". She said to me, "Kim said your nails are so bulky; she was so impatient with me after I told her I got them here. I asked about the prices to make sure I had enough and she told me to just sit. I tried to explain what I wanted because I was worried I might not have enough. She looked at me like she was disgusted with me. I asked her to go a little shorter because of my school uniform policy then she seemed really annoyed with me and cut them much shorter than I showed her. Then she filed them even shorter. I'm glad you came mom; I almost cried." Although I'm disappointed that my daughter received this treatment, I'm thankful for the lesson it taught her. They may have ripped her off with their sub service and mediocre skills, but at least she knows the difference now. My teenager would much rather spend her savings at EnvyEyes and Pearl Nail Salon in Pearl City. "They always make me feel comfortable and explain to me what I don't understand," she said. A manicure/pedicure should already include cuticle work and callus removal. For baseline pedicures, they only scrub your feet with a sponge. What a sponge is going to do for your feet I don't know. For manicures they soak your hands in warm water but you have to charge extra for cuticle work, which is normally included in the manicure itself. I paid for a soak off and got my acrylics taken off with a nail tip instead. I paid for callus removal and they didn't use a pumice stone. There's so many fees you pay for service. The only good thing about them is they're not hidden. Other than that, the service is nice. read more

Even the most ghetto nail salon I've ever gone has asked if I wanted clear polish or a buff shine if I didn't want color... and they charged an additional $5 as if they used the buffing cream and the drill or something, but whatever... I had to ask, and that's after the guy doing my nails didn't even put cuticle softener before cutting them... just trash... I will continue to just go to Mili Nail 2 off of Dillingham, they make sure you walk away satisfied ... This place, Bui808, on the other hand, they apparently could care less... It is only 2 min by walk. I read reviews and didn't have good reviews but I tried because it's close to my house. I called and scheduled my appointment for gel nail and pedicure. Regular pedi is $30. Gel nail is $65 Inside is very clean and organized just like regular nail salon in West side. Pedicure was ok. But the person who did my manicure is very rude. I have never had this rude person before. She has never smiled not greeting, I didn't have good sample to show so I explained her what I want. But she said " you should tell me exactly what you want!". But if I say something I want, she said "$10 each, $10 each" or "$15 each $15 each". So annoying. I felt so bad and I was about to leave but I just stayed and decided to write a review lol. She never talk to me while working on my nails. They still use very old tool to flat nails. I dont see it for a while because I heard those tools make nails damage. She didn't clean my nails before she put on gel. It was horrible nails are done. She never asked me how it was or anything. Her skill is very bad and the price isn't worth with it. They should training customer service and skills if they do a business. They just learn basic skill and get those price. I don't think so. Bui808 is a small business located in Kapolei in the mixed housing / business district. You'll think you're lost but just follow the Yelp /google directions and you'll be fine. Parking was tricky. Street parking only and be sure not to park in any residential stalls or driveways. I forget her name but she did an amazing job cleaning my toes and buffing out all the rough spots on my feet. Clean toes mean that your polish will last longer without chipping or flaking. I always go with gel polish but even with that if not done right, your polish will chip or flake off if not done right. Truly a fan of Bui808! They will they text you with reminders and discounts but if you decide you don't want this - you can opt out of text messages. The price was appropriate and service was wonderful and homey! I loved it! They didn't make me feel like I was just another seat they had to service. Hoopili location is great, just recommend parking on the front street since the entrance is on that side. If you park by the back alley and garage, you'll have to walk around. A/C is blowing and the hand lotion moisturizer at the end does not smell that great to me. So much so, that for the price, I probably won't be returning. They are located in Mehana of Kapolei so there's a bunch of free street parking. They take bookings online which makes it so easy. I text the number on their instagram to show them my design to get a price quote and they always stuck to it. No hidden charges at the end. They have 5 pedicure chairs available although I haven't tried them yet. Great customer service, awesome reasonable prices. Easy to book! My new go to!! read more

I normally go to Bui 808 and had a specific nail tech. My fav nail tech is on leave and I specifically asks someone who works just like her and they gave me this lady named Lily. From the time I sat down, I already had a bad feeling of bad attitude. After 10 mins , I decided to turn on the massage chair and I told her it wasn't working, instead of transferring me to a working condition massage chair, she said I should go to a massage spa to get my massage. So I never answered as I didn't want it to ruin my day . After a 15 mins she was working on my toe which I did explain to her what I wanted, she painted it the wrong way. When I said that's not what I wanted after painted my big toe nail, she was giving me an attitude saying I didn't tell her , so I said I did but you said you know what you are doing. So she just redid one big toe nail to get it right. When she got to my nails I also explained from the beginning what I wanted and when I noticed that she wasn't doing it right I told her that's not what I wanted and she said don't worry I know what I'm doing. And I was right I didn't like the way she done it because my previous nail tech does it a different way. I just zip my mouth and deal with the ugly nail and I will not go back to see this lady again named Lily. When I'm almost finishing up, she was complaining. She said it's the first time she's doing a nail more than an hour she said My design was tedious. Went in for a soak off and new set. Instead got my old set ripped off (popped off with another fake nail tip) which was extremely painful. Customer service sucks, space is so small and tight here. The nail tech named BUi informed me that one my nails was a "fungus nail" it was my first time ever having this and he reassured me that it'd "grow out" so I didn't think anything of it since I had no pain or discomfort. Watched him continue using his electric filer over my "fungus nail" and my thoughts were screaming "how unsanitary" to use nails tools on fungus nails and not even clean it before or after use. Too many red flags I had ignored frm when I first got in that chair js to walk out unsatisfied paying $120 for nails that looks like a kid had done for me. Left straight to get them redone at another nail salon. Where they had educated me a little on what that "fungus nail" really was. Which was a "greenie" not fungus. It's way too crowded in here and even when the appointment made for two people to sit together it took a while for that to happen so we were starting and ending at different times and it was a rush to get out of the chair because someone else is obviously waiting. I'm not sure if they overbooked appointments or if they take too many walk-ins but it's really crowded and it's like a assembly line of pedicures. I asked for a design on my toes and I got stickers. I should've said no but I didn't. I picked a sticker and it's not even three hours later and the sticker looks disgusting. I'm so bummed eight dollars for stickers that don't stick more than a couple hours And now look awful. The pedicures are expensive.
