My husband & I took our son to this build a bear for his 5th birthday. It was all of our first times! Everyone was nice that's all I could really say about them but once we were welcomed in nobody gave us any direction, just thought someone would give us quick general info/guidance. After speaking to a friend I found out we were supposed to be offered a certificate, but we weren't. So that's kind of a bummer. Not sure if it had anything to do with covid since 2 of the stations were down. The scent we got on the stuffed animal doesn't have a scent. Would want to return to hope for a better experience but not sure if I will for the price. Maybe if the customer service was better I would. read more

Man it was a rough experience today . On a whim decided to take my 2 year old here today. There were 3 employees working but only 1 stuffing the bears. We had to wait for 30 minutes just to get the dang bear stuffed . We were behind a party of like 6 older kids . You'd think they would put another worker on stuffing when they see such a big line . Needless to say my kid about lost it by the end bc he just wanted his bear (I mean he's 2 he can't wait that long). Then had to stand in line at the cash register for 10 minutes . Skipped the birth certificate and boxing phase bc my kid and myself were over at that point. I just don't think you need an employee "greeting" people when there are long lines at the stuffing station and at the cash register . When asked how my experience was I nicely but honestly told the women but she didn't care on bit. Update: so this is really getting comical at this point , so literally 4 hours after we left the store the bear's seam completely ripped open! So I had to haul us back to the mall to fix it. Of course we waited another 10 minutes just to get to the front of the check out line, I was nice but told the woman (who was he same from earlier that morning) that the bear was defective . She said "oh that happens sometimes" and hand stitched it up . No apology, no attempt to make it right. Honestly worst customer experience ever . read more

If you are planning on making a bear, be prepared to wait I've been to a few and all of them have caused me to wait to get the bear stuffed. It's a real big process and expensive one at that. The associates in this store were friendly and very peppy. My daughter is a pro at what to do and each bear as cheap as it starts out to be end outs totaling close to $100 each visit and with three kids, yeah its pricey. They really should work on a better plan when there are people waiting to be stuffed especially if there is 3 other people on the floor just walking around. read more

Beware if you want a bear or character that is not in stock, yet shown all over the store in different display forms. I mean it's Build-a-Bear so I know what to expect. Long lines with one person helping stuff and one person ringing everyone up. The reindeer my daughter wanted was displayed allllll over the store and also buy two for $35 prior to accessories. Well she decided she wanted two of them, but they were sold out of ones to stuff. Take the signs down then! I don't get it. We had to settle for two display ones, which are super cute, but they don't let you remove or trade any accessories at all. So we walked out of there $120 poorer (even with the buy two for $35......that's how decked out the displays are). Lesson learned. read more

Visited this store on 2/19/22. Kids love this place. From ages 3 to 14, they all enjoyed the store. The store was fairly clean. Two animals with accessories will run you about $100. I gave one star because one single employee ruined the experience. Alexander lacks simple customer service skills. Alexander comes off as a rude, pompous employee who is clearly upset he is working there. He's pushy with the promotions and almost makes it feel like you are not allowed to say no. Build-a-Bear used to be fun. You would get one on one attention and it was a special experience for whoever was building their (very expensive yet cheaply made) bear. This place was awful. Not even one person greeted us. Not one person helped us figure out any of the confusing parts (like what clothing could fit on a 4 legged animal or if we could try outfits on). We kept asking and they kept running by promising to "be right there" but they never stopped to even pretended to care. We were buying two bears complete with accessories so even a smidge of acting like we existed would have been nice. One of the workers was downright rude. I've never really been inside a Build-a Bear store until yesterday. We bought our little buddy one for Christmas. Basically, the process is to browse the plethora of stuffed animals they have on display first. These range from, yes, bears, to Hello Kitty, Batman, Spiderman, Ninja Turtles, the "Frozen" movie characters, and more. Once you make your choice, the animal/character of your choice is stuffed by one of the kind ladies at the stuffing station. Our pal Deegan chose a Ninja Turtle ($25) and he got to insert the toy heart into his turtle after he rubbed the heart, kissed it, and made a wish. I love how the children are able to interact with the making of their new friend. There are tons of accessories to go along with the toy, so I can see how the price tag can go up if your kid goes crazy. Deegan just added swords to his turtle. There's also a computer station where "birth certificates" are created for your new toy. Overall, this is a great gift for all ages and the prices aren't too bad at all for the experience and the joy on our little friend's face. Merry Christmas, D! read more

Took my daughter here today for her 8th Birthday. She was so excited to be able to pick out a new friend and dress them. When we arrived there at 7:34pm (closing time 9:00pm) we were quickly stopped by a rude employee basically yelling at us that their waitlist capacity had been met and they were accepting anymore people. The store did not look like they had 20 people at all in there. When asked if we could be added to the list we got a response with a lot of attitude and basically calling us stupid "uhhh no!, our waitlist is full" but didn't give much information and no where on their door is it posted that you need to sign up for a waitlist. Needless to say this was a MAJOR damper on my daughters birthday celebration. There was plenty of time left before the store would close, and they could have easily been accepting more people to their "waitlist". We told my daughter we'd go back tomorrow, but to be completely honest I don't think we will be shopping at build a bear again. First time we came in Gerri was great. She greeted us at the door and helped us make our Kevin minion. The experience was awesome and our 2yo loved every minute :) She made sure we new every step and made it fun. We picked our banana accessory and went to checkout. While there we saw a Pawsport and got that too. It's a pretty handy kids travel guide actually and our cashier, Alona stamped it. She also guided our little one to ring the bell. We just went back today for more accessories and Hannah helped us out. She was very helpful too, showed us a cool back pack for our minion and checked us out. We will definitely be back! I would give zero stars if possible. They were the ONLY store in Downtown Summerlin limiting the people who could enter. 15 people Max at a time. Took us 3.5 hrs on a wait list to get in. We walked around in the freezing cold wind killing time because our daughter would have been crushed if we ditched the idea of going in there as we had promised she'd get to build a bear on Valentine's Day. Stupid Us!! I will never support this brand or company again! When we were finally able to walk into the store they told us we had to leave our drinks outside which again was ridiculous as no other store was making this demand and of course my warm coffee and daughters warm hot chocolate got cold while we were in the store. I asked if I could at least set my drink down by the register or somewhere so it wasn't in the freezing cold and they denied that request. Every thing my daughter touched someone went right behind her sanitizing, my husband said he watched them follow her around the store doing this. I wasn't aware that the science indicated that four-year-olds were the super spreaders of covid but it definitely made us feel unwelcome and in a hurry to leave. I skipped the part where you buy clothes to dress up the dolls because of how uncomfortable and angry we felt by this point. Nothing but great experiences here! Staff is always energetic and friendly and we've never had a super long wait time. The only downside is the price, after the bear, the "scent", and an outfit you won't get out of there for under $50. We purchased 2 build a bears. I knew my kids would enjoy the experience. It was a mess from the beginning as the customer service was not great and didn't seem to care about helping us throughout our time there. The kids were super bummed by the end of it. Then we come home and both the dolls broke in several places. When I called them they said they don't like to send the bears home with the tough string they send them home with weaker string but we can coke back and they will do it with the tougher string. Seriously?! I told them I sewed part of it up since I won't be able to make it for another week or so and then they said because I sewed it they don't know if they can help. My kids just said they don't plan on going back because the bears weren't great and it wasn't fun anyway when we were there so I just don't plan on going back and it stinks because we were super excited about it to begin with :( read more

The staff was so accommodating, even though there was a huge crowd of teenage girls taking a very long time and treating the store like it was their plaything. Janae, Jake and the kind girl on the stuffer (sadly I can't remember her name) all made me and my children feel like we were part of the build a bear family. Janae even had a wonderfully cute conversation with my 4 year old! We're from California and this was the best build a bear experience I've ever had. Stephanie (store manager) had the worst customer service. She doesn't follow the store return/exchange policy, she makes her own store policy. She said, "I can't accept any exchange or return if your child personally made the stuff animal and played with it, then suddenly change mind to another stuff animal. We don't follow the return policy that's written on the back of receipt." I insisted that it is written on the back of the receipt that you can return or exchange within 90 days as long as you have the receipt. To make the story short, she didn't accept my return/exchange, and so I called the build a bear customer service and verified the store return/exchange policy with Emily (customer service). She said that you can return or exchange the stuff animal no matter what the reason was as long as it is within 90 days and you have the receipt. I am so disappointed with Stephanie because she was entitled as a manager, but doesn't know their own return/exchange policy. She needs to be trained again! Also, she made my daughter cry. read more

Told we had to make an appointment and it would be about 30 minutes, so we walk over and order a slice of pizza about five minutes after we were told to wait 30 minutes they call to say it's our turn and seem quite irritated when I explain it will be about 10 minutes for us to get back. We walk in and I observe no less than ten others being permitted without an "appointment" because all of the employees are busy. We pick our bears and about 15 minutes of waiting in line later a couple with two kids who were still picking their bears even after we got into line literally push their stroller in front of the line. Myself and the family in front of us kinda trade glances but nobody says anything till they start to walk forward. The Dad starts to yell and say "he's not trying to be difficult" but their next, the Mom walks to the register and starts to berate the poor girl up front who explains that we are in fact correctly in line but the person at the bear station does nothing shrugs her shoulders and says "holiday season" and proceeds to allow them to cut all with an ashamed look on her face. All while their friends start to yell at us. Belligerent and rude people who don't know how to act should not just be allowed to do whatever because they are loud and annoying. It's my kids birthday so I just hugged her, told her it's ok and we'll wait but we will NEVER be back. read more

Friendly staff, unfortunately the past 2 times we have been in has not been the best for us. We had a lady named Janae that was stuffing both times and she did not to the whole thing with our son with hugging the heart kissing it and the whole experience. I hate to give this place anything less than 5 stars but tonight we were in there after the parade and the Gals working, always fantastic. They go above and beyond. Even though the store was packed they never made my littles feel rushed during their building time. The reason for the stars gone was the male employee working. I cannot believe his managers didn't point it out but his BO was absolutely knocking people out. It was so bad that it actually made my husband and I nauseated. This was a huge problem for the parents and kids that waited in line for a price of the age of the child day and then got told that there is nothing they can do but leave because they got to many people to go out for this event and knowing that it id Vegas and hot is not a excuse to use. To break the kids heart and having a upset child all day because they got to stand in line for 3 hrs to get told they dont get anything and have to leave with a coupon and come later and a way higher price. Typical Build-a-Bear store. Only one employee working so expect to wait. Parking at Downtown Summerlin is horrible. Parking is mostly "on street" parking which is limited. Plan on a long walk through a "small city"downtown. Literally impossible to park near stores. If you have mobility issues, don't come here. Your better off going to the store at Galleria Mall in Henderson with better parking. read more

The cashier, Janae, should really be embarrassed. I stood in line awkwardly as the customer in front of me stepped outside for nearly 5 minutes to look for a coupon on her phone or something. So I was just standing there with my one single item... just trying to leave, and she had me wait there and she did apologize and say "just a second" but... yeah I waited plenty of seconds that was just ridiculous. So me and Janae are just standing there watching some lady outside on her cellphone who couldn't even find her coupon. For more than a couple minutes. It's almost like she was annoyed at ME for being annoyed waiting there. You can't open up another register ? I've worked retail for 5 years and I would never make someone wait while someone runs outside to grab something. You handled that poorly. Also, I feel like customers who have children with them are treated better by the staff. Remember not everyone can bring their child with them and not only that maybe the bear is for myself! This place already has 3 stars so I guess I'm not surprised. But seriously Janae, don't make someone wait like that. You don't do that. Especially someone with ONE lousy item like void that persons transaction and make THEM wait!
