The service was great here! The woman who took care of me was very friendly and helpful. We were sad they had no tea that day, but that's okay, we will come back to try them! I got the signature ginger chicken box with kimchi fried rice and omg, it was soooooo tasty. The chicken was so crisp and delicious. The box came with so much food too! I had a couple bites leftover that I just couldn't finish. So much food for such a great price! That alone, would bring me back! My partner had the dumplings and he very much enjoyed those too. The box came with the protein, the rice, sauteed veggies, salad, half an egg with some sort of sauce, and what seemed like potato salad? The bulgogi fries are amazingggg with the egg! I do wish the yolk was still intact I think you can probably ask them to keep the yolk but we forgot. You get A LOT of fries so be prepared. Very flavorful and a really fun fusion dish. You cannot leave this place without trying the boba tea. They have a slushie milk tea boba that is VERY good. Placed an order for take out with Bul Box over Yelp as my usual go to had closed during COVID-19. Thus, this was also my first exposure to the Transfer Co Food Hall. It's been a bit since I ordered, and I don't remember all the details right now. I'll just say that the food was okay, not my favorite. Perhaps I expected a bit more traditional Korean food. For example, the tossed salad in the same box with our bulgogi was simply not my favorite and, as takeout, the textures and flavors all started to mesh in a not-awesome kind of way. I also would rate the food just kind of on the bland side, something I don't usually encounter with Korean food. The fried egg also got rubbery by the time I got the food home and had it a bit later that day, just making for a so-so experience. I imagine if you live close by or eat in the Transfer Co Food Hall, your experience may be better, or if you're looking for a more interesting blend of Korean food with a few American staples. Personally, KoKyu Na'Mean in Durham does a better job of keeping the food delicious while blending flavors creatively, and holding up to both take-out and dine-in. read more

I got curbside pickup and delivery from here through door dash. I've tried the beef dumplings, beef bulgogi bul-box and ginger chicken bul-box with upgrade to kimchi fried rice. I really liked the beef box the portion size was enough for 2-3 meals and the beef was flavorful and not the cheap fatty beef that is typically found in take out fare. The box comes with a scoop of potato salad, spring roll, soft boiled egg , mixed green salad and roasted veggies. I appreciate them trying to balance the meal with veggies. The salad comes already dressed but wasn't soggy by the time I got it. The ginger chicken was a little disappointing the rest of the box components were decent though. The chicken was dry and tough and the sauce they used wasn't that flavorful I couldn't distinguish any actual ginger just a slight sweet taste and fry oil. read more

I put off going here because there are so many byob places but my first time here wasn't bad. They have a half salad half rice combo that doesn't get too soggy, which I like. I also appreciated the number of meats and it's different marinades. I WILL say I misunderstood what the employee was telling me when I first got there - I thought he said I could get 5 hot sides and then unlimited toppings but it's really 5 sides total from both hot and cold. Don't be like me!! So while the downside is no unlimited toppings the toppings themselves are pretty unique. I got an extremely spicy bowl with every type of spice - buldak chicken, tumeric cauliflower, kimchi, and peanut curry. The chicken and curry drizzle were highlights. Spring rolls taste frozen but it's hard to keep things crisp so I don't blame them. Since the different toppings are so distinct, you may end up in a situation where you end having numerous potluck sides that taste good separately. I would suggest getting a predetermined bowl and substituting it with one or two sides that you like instead of a byob from scratch! read more

The best was the crispy fried spring rolls, they were much better than usual, tasted fresh and homemade, and with ginger instead of the usual blandness that relies on a sauce for flavor. The dish itself was just ok, definitely fresh, but not a lot of flavor. The roasted veggies tasted sort of Mexican, and together with the salad and the pleasant but minimally flavored tofu it was a decent meal but could really be optimized for a Korean flavor. Bul Box just opened on April 10 and I'm already planning my next visit! Their menu seems to be mostly Korean inspired with some Asian fusion. We tried the garlic truffle wings (which comes with a side of pickles), the bulgolgi box (which came with potato salad, grilled veggies and choice of side) and the gal bi small box (side salad and grilled veggies). Everything was delicious but the stand out favorite was the garlic truffle wings. We found ourselves dipping the other meats in the leftover sauce from the wings. In terms of things that could be improved, it was their opening week so things were a little disorganized (as can be expected). I wish they'd had some salt and pepper packets available next to the silverware/chopsticks since the gal bi was a little under seasoned for my taste. They also seemed to be struggling to get the line to form in a single direction so at one point there were 3 different lines converging. Overall though, I'd say these are small fixes and this place has amazing food. I'd order everything again. Great new business! read more

The dumplings were okay but were pretty dry. I didn't care for salad at all because it didn't have much flavor. I got the Ramen, and unfortunately wasn't overly impressed. Part of it is my fault because my paradigm for Ramen is a big bowl with broth. This was a box full of lettuce and other vegetables with some ramen in the bottom and some meat (think I got chicken). When I actually got into the ramen itself, it was tasty but didn't blow me away. I brought a real Korean with me, and she said it tasted like "it was cooked on an American grill with vegetables that weren't Korean....[the whole thing] was not Korean at all. Or even galbi. It was not marinated even close to real Korean bbq. It wasn't marinated at all. It was just steak. But at least the quality of the meat was decent. Also, the bulgogi fries almost tasted like real bulgogi, and it was good."
