    Archery lesson
    Berta B.

My son just had his first archery lesson with Tara and she was amazing. She was so patient and made sure to keep my son safe while teaching him exactly what to do. She didn't mind that she had to repeat some things a couple of times for my son to get it. I appreciate the fact that she made him feel comfortable and confident during the lesson. We didn't buy anything yet, but I did see they have a large selection of items to purchase. The private lessons are $35 for 30 minutes. My son loved it so much he asked his dad and I if we could please take him again soon. We are going to take him back for some more lessons as well as his sister. I think this is a great sport for children. It teaches them to listen, hand eye coordination, safety and patience.

First shot! Wish they were all like that... practice makes perfect right?

Fun place. Mom & Pop shop - run by some nice people. Fairly inexpensive to rent out the range (maybe call first, I walked in and had to wait a bit) They offer lessons, rentals, and both sell & repair equipment. Great place to take a date if you are trying for something unique!

TLDR: Came in here because I was interested in archery. Owners took the time to help me choose a nice compound bow, measured my draw, and taught me how to fire it correctly. I've never fired a bow before and my bow was fixed too good, I was firing in the center. Walked out purchasing over $1300 worth of equipment. 10/10 will shop here again, next time for a traditional bow!

Thanks for all the planning and hard work to construct the tournament range and the volunteers who put these events on. Fortunately the weather was great (not too hot). We had a great time in Simi Valley and looking forward to coming here again. Cell phone reception on the range is not too good although you can get a little bit of reception in certain spots, and it does work if you drive 5min into the surrounding neighborhood.

The staff goes over your eye orientation (whether right or left-eye dominant), provides you with an archery arm guard, and goes over the safety rules. They had multiple instructors who helped you orient yourself and your bow and arrows to shoot at the target. It felt like many directions, but as you go more rounds, your body and brain start to retain the information. I cheered when I finally hit the target! My only goal for the day, besides getting out of bed, was to hit the target! Maybe I didn't hit dead center, but an arrow (and even more arrows) made it onto the target! Yay! There is no good cell phone reception at the range where the public course is held, so if you're meeting anyone, try to make sure you decide where to meet beforehand. There is free parking on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. through a fence to your left, a little from when you enter the park. The public session costs $5, and you must sign a waiver. Bring cash, as, once again, you will probably have no cell service. Thank you to Kevin and the other instructors and staff who helped me patiently. I couldn't believe how quickly the two hours flew by. Everything was well-organized, and this is such an amazing weekly event that Conejo Valley Archers hosts. Thank you again!

This is a well-run shooting club in Santa Clarita. If you're coming from LA, it's actually just…read morebefore you get into Santa Clarita. There are multiple ranges, depending on what you want to shoot, a restaurant with quality food, a small bar (they do not allow you to shoot after drinking, but the reverse is fine), a gun shop with a very good selection and knowledgeable staff, and several events throughout the year. What really makes this place great is the staff at the ranges. If they see someone doing something unsafe, they call it out and put a stop to it immediately, which is what you want at a gun range. But more than that, they're friendly and more than willing to help you with tips on shooting or with any weapon malfunction--very important for new shooters. Guys like Savage and Jimmy really help make the rifle range an enjoyable experience. As far as the different ranges, there is a long row of shotgun clay/skeet shooting at the front when you pull in. That's also where you find the restaurant and some clean bathrooms. There is also a small shop with clothing, accessories, and some very high-end shotguns. This is where you check in for the shotgun range. To head to the archery range, park there and make a left past the main building and up a hill. I haven't been to the archery range yet, so I can't comment on it. For the rifle range, continue to the left past the ramp for the archery range. It's a bit of a walk, especially if you're carrying a bunch of weapons and ammo. It's paved, and I believe they have golf carts available to help transport you if you're disabled or just need the help. There is a small shop where you check in, with accessories, ammo, and targets available for purchase, as well as various rifles available for rent. At the rifle range, you can shoot most calibers of rifle, shotgun, or handgun (but no hollow points), so it's fun for all. You can set up cardboard target stands or use the steel targets spread throughout the range. I'm not sure how far back it goes--probably about 75-100 yards. I've heard a rumor that if you bring in a watermelon or pumpkin, you can shoot it, but I haven't checked the validity of that yet. The only negative about the rifle range is that the only bathrooms there are porta potty's. For the pistol range and gun shop, when you pull into the parking lot, instead head to the right, where there is an additional smaller parking lot. There are some nicer bathrooms out front. Inside is the pro shop/gun shop, where the guys (I think their names are Frankie and Rick) are very helpful. If you want to try any of the handguns before purchasing, they have them for rent as well. There is a paper range and a steel range. I believe that, aside from handguns, you can also shoot small handgun-caliber rifles there. At the paper range you can shoot hollow points (at least that was allowed last time I was there), but not at the steel range. There are about 10-12 stalls on each range. I don't think either range extends past 75 yards. For the paper range, you can purchase targets at the shop or bring your own to put on cardboard stands. One of the guys there is extremely helpful if you need tips or have any questions. I believe his name is Page-hope I got that right. On the steel side, they have a plethora of steel targets set at different distances. The nice thing about the steel range is that you never have to stop and wait while people change out their targets. There are also an additional two speed plate lanes at the end that are first come, first served. Again, the employees do a good job of keeping an eye on everyone and maintaining a safe environment. Don't forget to bring ear and eye protection. But if you need it, they have both available. I don't think they currently charge you to borrow either. They also have memberships available, with massive discounts on the membership a couple of times a year during events. One tip - if it's your first time, make sure you fill out the waivers online before you go. It will save you time when you get there. There is a main waiver everyone signs, plus additional waivers for each range you plan on using (ie shotgun, rifle, archery, pistol, etc.). I highly recommend Oak Tree to anyone looking to try shooting for the first time, anyone looking to purchase a firearm and try it out first, and experienced shooters looking for a good, safe, convenient place to shoot.

Very pleasant range tucked away in the hills by Valencia/Santa Clarita…read more Good service at the desk, you can and should sign waivers in advance via their website for smooth processing. They have a great selection of rentals if you so happen to need it or want to try stuff out, pricing is available on their website. This visit I enjoyed their steel pistol range, they have an option to shoot paper as well on a separate part of the pistol range. The bays are nice and wide, lots of space to comfortably shoot on the steel range. Reasonable pricing and the location is a nice and quiet woodsy forest vibe. There is parking in front of the club/restaurant/shotgun range (Rifle is to the left), as well as if you hit a right, there was a bit of parking in front of the pistol ranges and gun store. This place is a must try for any hobbyist, recreational or professional shooter.

Every time I'm in town, I carve out space for a lesson here. They don't just hand you a bow and send you to the range. They break it down--stance, breath, grip--without condescension or ego. From absolute zero, they had me loosing arrows with something resembling grace, and over time, they've built me into a halfway decent archer. That's not just instruction; that's craft. The gear side is no less impressive. Advice here isn't about upselling--it's about finding the bow, the arrows, the finger tabs that actually suit you. The staff talks from the heart, from decades of pulling strings and hitting targets, not from a sales script. And the vibe? Generous, patient, and real. You're not judged for being a beginner. You're not rushed. You're simply folded into the ritual of a practice older than most religions. For someone like me, who arrives a tourist and leaves a little bit better than before--that's gold. Woodley Park's archery range isn't just another community spot -- it's hallowed ground for archery in Southern California. Established in the mid-20th century, it became one of the premier training grounds for competitive archers, including those who've gone on to represent the U.S. in the Olympics and world tournaments. The range was home to early pioneers in modern archery and has long been supported by the Woodley Park Archers Club, a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to keeping the sport alive and accessible for everyone. Whether you're brand new or a practiced archer fine-tuning your form, this place is magic. It's free to use, open to the public, and beautifully maintained -- a rare mix of L.A. chill and Olympic discipline. The sound of arrows hitting targets is weirdly meditative, and for a moment, you forget you're in Van Nuys and not a medieval forest. If you're serious about learning, do yourself a favor and take a class here. The instructors are incredibly patient, passionate, and knowledgeable -- many are lifelong archers who learned the craft right here.
