Every time I pass their window display I'm lured in, especially when there's a sale going on, which is always a generous amount off. The inside is nicely laid out & the staff are super friendly & helpful. My favorite shoes are their heels which my feet refuse to enjoy, & the flats that dig into my heals. That leaves the chucka boots, I can own just so many! Obviously, I'm a fragile flower, not their fault. Basically, I'm looking for fancy slippers with a sturdy rubber sole. They are a "small shop". They don't seem to carry any "larger sized shoes" and they don't seem interested in business from women who have larger feet, possibly not non cis-gendered women. They will reply that they are small and do not have enough customers with larger feet, really just one size off. I have also cis-gendered female friends who share my shoe size. I wonder if they would be treated better. Offered up something to try on. Not tacitly shuttled out of the store. read more

Disappointed! Yes, very disappointed. I bought a great pair of shoes last year and headed back to Bulo looking for some black boots. They have a decent selection of Italian shoes that are reasonably priced. Not cheap, but very good quality and styles that you won't find at mainstream stores. A pair of boots caught my eye, so I asked a sales person to help me find my size. The sales people were huddled up in a corner, barely noticing that I was shopping. She came by and went to the back looking for my size. She came out telling me they no longer had my size. I then asked if they would be getting more. The sales person answered coldly, "It's December." I asked her if she had other styles she could suggest and she said everything was out. She then turned away before I could say thank you and started talking to another customer. I understand it's December, but I don't think I needed that rude answer. She could have just told me they weren't planning to get anymore because it was already late in the season. Also, she really didn't seem to want my business and offer any help. And a shoe has to be light weight and durable and comfortable. So basically I want a Naturalizer disguised as a stiletto. Killer Italian Shoes! I discovered Mauro Giuli handmade boots here. One of the sales girls had MG boots on and they looked so good broken in. Sales girls here are approachable and friendly. My shopping rule 4 pricey items: If I leave the store and never think about the item again, it was not meant to be. In a financial pinch, but obssessed bout these boots. 3 months later I came back and knew I could be SOL. Boots were not on the floor, but the salesgirl knew exactly what shoe I was talking about. (inventory savy) Lucky me! The shipment came in and she retrieved if from the basement. I snagged these boots and get a zillion compliments. You don't have to go to Italy to get amaaaazing shoes. I love this store. So much more reasonably priced than GIMME SHOES. Two of my current favorite shoes are from there, a pair of marry-jane style red low heels, gorgeous, but they are now 50% off :-( I should have waited, but I couldn't. We came here for pretty much one reason alone, they carry Cydwoqs for men and women. I don't know why these shoes are so hard to find, at least in our city, but our concierge at the hotel was able to track down Bulo as a place that could help us. The fiancee picked up 2 pairs for herself, one on sale even, and I was able to find a pair for myself, very similar to a pair I already own, but a different color. For the most part the service was pretty good from the staff. I think we put them off a little bit by showing up as complete dirtbags, fresh from a day in Golden Gate Park, but they were able to find the styles and colors we were looking for and we were out the door in record time. My only real complaint would be their minimal Cydwoq bag collection, I asked about a particular style they make and was simply told that it wasn't very practical. You mean like more practical then a $350 pair of shoes, good lord, I don't need a critique, just what I'm looking for thanks. Great selection at this relatively tiny location but they had exactly what we were looking for and that's the main point I guess. read more

Sometimes I feel like shoe shops should charge admission...the amazing experience of smelling and touching quality leather is well worth a visit to Bulo. I am an animal lover and have a particular problem with some exotic leathers...but GODDAMN! I would like to mention that in addition to the wonderful imported (and pricey) footwear one can molest in Bulo, they have a great discount section tucked into the corner. A great place to find those great colors of Saucony's - ON SALE! Probably the cheapest thing I could purchase...but I had to walk out of there with SOMETHING! They really have fantastic shoes here. I purchased a pair online, which ended up not matching the picture in color and, therefore, not matching the outfit for which I'd made the purchase. Since the store was in the City, I also made the purchase knowing that if it didn't work out that I could get store credit on another pair. I went on my lunch break to make the exchange and found a perfect pair. I loved the little black & white cat kisch there - he brought me a shoe horn in his mouth and dropped it at my feet... how can I not play with him after that!? You have to stop into this shoe shop if you love well designed shoes that are unique and high quality. I have to say I have never heard of "Cydwoqs" but now I am a big fan. Everything was beautiful in this store. I was not able to afford a pair of Cydwoqs this time around, but I didn't leave the store unhappy with my "Keens" which were 50% off! Shoes that you would see in Vogue magazine are featured at Bulo! As well as comfort brands that we shoes fans all know and love! In this area you will also find many many more wonderful shoe shops, but definitely stop into this store if you are in the area. Helpful hint: Sundays the parking is easier because the residential permit areas let you park. This is the only day that you are allowed to park on the residential streets that surround the Hays Street boutiques in this area. read more

Worst shoes I have ever purchased in my Life! VERO CUOIO brand, "made in Italy". Expensive. Looks like leather, but from the way I was slipping & sliding - mix of plastic & faux leather. I won't shop here again, based on a recent experience. I bought several pairs of socks for my wife but didn't give them to her until a few months after I bought them. She went to return one of the pairs, with the receipt, and first they gave her a hard time about the time lapse. Then, although the socks still had all their original packaging and had never been worn, the *manager* was insistent with my wife that they had been worn! My wife is one of the most honest and highest-integrity people I know, and she felt completely insulted. They finally took the socks and gave her a refund, but even if they have nice things there are enough stores in the city; why take the risk of being treated like that? read more

Just brought back my new Chelsea boot that I wore for 15 minutes and the seam of the sole got broken. This shouldn't happen to a shoe in that short amount of time. Thought I could get it replaced, but since I wore the shoe the girl tells me they couldn't resell it...since when is this my problem? Bought a pair of shoes that were on sale and had buyers regret so tried to return them a few days later - shop girl told me they were from 2 seasons ago and they never take those shoes back. Wow! I had a bad experience shopping here. Ordered some shoes one evening (online), and right after, I found (on another site) that the manufacturer's sizes were smaller than shoes I normally wear in this size. I immediately e-mailed Bulo, then called the next morning to make sure the shoes didn't get sent out. They sent them out regardless... So I called to discuss the problem. The manager agreed with me, saying I should get a refund + shipping costs, but apparently the owner was a bit difficult? I called the owner and he started arguing... then said to send the shoes back. I sent the shoes back... did not receive refund. E-mailed a few more times, sent a CERTIFIED LETTER... NOTHING Had to call my credit card company and file a dispute. What a waste of time/energy... Will not shop with these guys again :| read more
