    Satay Over Fried Rice
    Mona M.

As an Indonesian, I've wanted to try Bumbu truck ever since I discovered we have an Indonesian food truck here in town. However their stops are never close to where I've lived or worked. Until more recently as chance would have it, we had an appointment near Bothell area and they posted they would be in the surrounding area that day. We made a quick stop there on our way to our appointment. After circling the large office complex, we located the food truck and immediately placed our order. I'm a satay lover so naturally I ordered the Satay with Fried Rice which comes with 3 skewers, fried rice and side salad. He got the Curry Over Fried Rice which comes with a yellow chicken curry, friend rice, one satay and a side salad. It was too cold in the parking lot, we went somewhere else and found a picnic table at a park that we could enjoy our late lunch at. There was only one man working in the food truck who was super friendly and welcoming. He offered us a sample of their delicious sambal (you can taste the terasi/belacan in it). Though, there was a little oversight that the bowl which the curry was served in didn't come with a lid. We weren't informed of it so we spilled the curry all over in the car. We were able to save half of the curry. Regardless, I personally think the food were all delicious. You could taste all the seasonings - though I prefer the spices to be a tad stronger (if I'm being picky). The satay was all soft covered in a delicious satay peanut sauce and you can further dip your satay in a sweet soy dipping sauce. The fried rice is savory, garlicky, sweet and salty.. accompanied with a fresh chopped salad.. On such a biting-cold windy Seattle afternoon, the warm, flavorful and fragrant meals truly hit the spot.

Truck at North Creek area Bothell

The cute Bumbu Truck lunch was un-inspiring and over priced. Parked in the North Creek area of Bothell, on the edge of walking trails though the suburban sprawl of low rise office building, this food truck ruined my lunch. This was my first time visit, I had high hopes for a new lunch option (truck) as we meander back to our offices. Instead, I was served a lunch consisting of a single flavor. I ordered the "Undecided" $15, a sampling of several items. Thumbs down to the refried rice and noodles, marginal acceptance of the chicken on skewer, and a "nice" rating to the time little salad on the side. There is no thought, fore-sight, effort, or creativity added to this hastily assembled lunch. It was just an over-salted plate of reheated food that should have never been cooked in the first place. I only ate about half, that is all I could pallet. The unfortunate part is, I drove by 2 other "Asian" inspired, strip mall places that serve far better lunch than the "Undecided" $15 meal. No, I do not recommend No, I will not be back. Yes, I am now decided. No more Bumbu Truck for me.

Bumbu comes by regulary to our office and I have had them a couple of times. We get a list of food trucks emailed to us monthly, and if I forgot to bring a lunch and see Bumbu on the list for the day, I usually don't mind grabbing a lunch from their truck! Prices: typical food truck prices I have had: - Undecided Combo - Chicken Satay I really like their satay and egg roll. As for the noodles rice and salad that comes with the Undecided Combo, it's alright, nothing overly amazing. The lunch box is filling though. I love Asian food so whenever I see an Asian food truck in my work parking lot, I am usually more than happy to buy food from them!

This food truck is not bad. When we went to grab it, we were alone in the line and it look maybe 3 minutes to get our food, which was excellent. The food itself is definitely quick street food- it's pretty greasy. It's got decent tasty to it, but reminded me of Chinese takeout, but with Indonesian flavor. I quite liked the the chicken satay and peanut sauce, that was great! Fried rice was good too. I wasn't a fan of the noodles, but the fiancé was. Overall, it's not bad and a great quick option for dinner or lunch!

Undecided Combo ($11) - Chicken Satay, Nasi Goreng (rice), noodles, salad and lumpia!  Delicious & filling!

Fun Fact: For those foodies who are familiar with Food Network's show, Chopped.... the owner of Bumbu won in 2015! With that noted, I couldn't wait to try this truck. They offer daily specials, however, based on others' reviews, I already knew what I wanted to order from the regular menu: The Undecided Combo ($11), which includes two chicken satay skewers, fried rice (Nasi Goreng), noodles, a lumpia and salad. I'm all about sampling, so this was the perfect lunch and the serving was so generous that it provided me with two meals! Everything was delicious and bursting with flavor. The chicken skewers were tender and nicely grilled, brushed lightly with peanut sauce. Usually I find the taste of peanut sauce overwhelming, but their version was just right and had a touch of sweetness to it. I LOVED both the noodles and the Nasi Goreng. The noodles were cooked perfectly with notes of garlic and mixed with cabbage for crunch. Also, I can't remember the last time I ate up every single grain of rice on my plate, but with their bold and savory Nasi Goreng, I couldn't bear to leave any of it behind. YUM! I unfortunately found my lumpia to be soaked in oil and both the noodles and rice left a glossy film in the container. Although I enjoyed my order, I didn't feel the healthiest after eating it. However, the salad - consisting of chopped cucumber, carrot and cabbage - was refreshing and its vinegar-based dressing helped cut through the grease. It also had a surprising hint of heat! Service was friendly and pretty quick. It was pouring outside, but I appreciated how they set up an umbrella stand by the ordering line. In addition to fantastic food of course, it's the small gestures like this that I find memorable and convince me to return! 4.5 stars.

Food: *** | Service: **** | Value: *** We got the undecided combo, the fried rice combo, and the roti. I'm usually a big fan of Javanese stir-fried noodles, but this time, I actually prefer their fried rice over noodles. The roti is pretty good but the chicken curry that comes with it was just meh. I think the best thing from their menu is the satay - I will go back just for that! Would I make another 20 mins trip to go back and have their food? Probably not... But if I happen to see them at an event, I will probably grab some satays :)

Bumbu parked in the courtyard near by office so I thought I'd try them and was delightfully surprised. Got some tasty Indonesian street food - curry over rice with potato, a cold, sweet cucumber salad and chicken. Only cost $10. The gal that worked the window was polite. Took about 8 minutes to get my order with three others ahead of me waiting.

This is one of the trucks that we are a regular at. Good food and quick service make this one a great option. They usually do have specials, but I always end up getting th undecided combo. It includes fried rice, stir fried noodles, salad, 2 skewers of chicken satay, and a lumpia. Th3 food is always good. I like this because you get a little of every thing to make a complete meal. The one complaint we have is the aluminium foil they add in the takeout boxes under the food, makes it a little tricky to eat with a fork.

I was very excited that my apartment building brought this food truck in for us. The menu looked promising and the plates sounded like they were going to be good. I ordered my food and I was taken care of by a very kind woman. The business seems family owned. I ordered the "The Undecided Combo" which brings "Fried Rice, Stir Fry Noodle, 1 Lumpia, 2 Chicken Satay, Salad" and my boyfriend ordered the "Chicken Curry Over Fried Rice" which brings "Fried Rice, Chicken Curry, 1 Chicken Satay, Salad". The food tooks over 30 minutes to make. As soon as I opened our food I was disappointed. The portions were really small for what we paid. At first bite the food tasted bad. The rice had a weird taste and our chicken did not taste like chicken. The food seemed like it was old even though I saw them cooking after I ordered. Maybe it was a one off chance, but I will not be giving this place another chance. The food was just not good.

If you live here long enough, you know how hard it is to find good Indonesian food!!! And I found it and I am so happy! I went there 2 different times. First time I got the famous undecided combo to try everything out, and the second time I was not too hungry so I chose the Roti with curry. The undecided combo is all you have ever wanted. Where to even begin? The salad is moist and fresh, not mayo mix vinegar trash sauce but the authentic saucing. The noodles look dry but actually moist and flavorful. The satay was perfect and the nasi goreng is amazing! (Only had the knockoff American version..But kinda know what it should taste like) Just... perfect lunch right there. The curry dipping is BEST I have EVER had! I was worried that it would be like the trashy knockoff curry they make in Teriyaki places, cause that's what Americans are used to as "Asian curry". But NO! They got the lemongrass and coconut milk flavor right there. Just like the authentic Indonesia curry. IN LOVE! And the roti is finally a perfect grilled crispy and soft roti, not some trash one they heat up to hot enough temp. That says something if you know you knowww! The "fire" (aka "wok hei" in cantonese sorry idk how to translate that) is there! OMG I LOVE IT. I am craving for their food constantly!!! So good and so authentic! Not from Indonesia but been to Singapore and from Hong Kong. Have had so much Indonesia influenced food in both Singapore and HK. I AM SO HAPPY for this! Recommended 100%! Wish they get to open a spot somewhere later cause I WILL GO AS MUCH AS I CAN! Thank you for making good food! No more sad lunches (sometimes)!

    Curry over rice!
    Lydia N.

Bumbu makes super tasty food! I came here for lunch tempted by the promise of Indonesian curry over rice and was really happy with what I got. A generous portion (appx half a square takeout container) of fried rice topped with savory and spiced curry. With a side salad topped with peanut dressing, chicken satay stick & cucumber relish, it was altogether satisfying. I especially liked the satay and the curry. The curry to rice ratio was a little off - I was wishing for more curry to go with the last quarter of the remaining rice.. At $8 I'd say it's a decent value for a food truck. The curry ramen with egg looked a little skimpy in comparison ($7.5). The biggest drawback was the wait time. It took about 25 minutes for the food to be ready. Granted there were ~10 orders in front of me but given that they have only so many things on their menu, I'd imagine they'd be able to streamline something.

    Nasi Kuning

My first time trying Bumbu food truck. It happened to be at a bellevue apt near the area I was in. I find $15 reasonable for the nasi kuning - special menu item for the day. There were two meat - curry chicken and turmeric chicken drumstick and the portions were decent too. The Curry was not spicy, although we would have preferred both the chicken and curry to have a stronger /spiced flavor like we thought Indonesian food should have. We like the chilli, turmeric rice and the potato, peanut tempe medley. The medley was sweet and savory, very appetizing to go with the whole entree. I wouldn't go out of my way to get Bumbu but sure wouldn't mind ordering again if it's in the area.

We ordered an abundant spread, and every dish impressed. The clear crowd favorite was the Singapore black pepper prawns - fragrant, perfectly spiced, and completely addictive. That black pepper sauce was hands down the star of the meal: rich, peppery, and deeply flavorful. It was my favorite and could easily be eaten on everything. The Mala curry crab and XO crab were both outstanding; layered with complex, indulgent flavors. The Thai green chili clams and saus mentega clams were vibrant and comforting, while the crab fried rice had generous morsels of crab folded throughout the dish. We also really enjoyed the Indonesian chicken wings, which were crispy and flavorful, and the stir-fried vegetables, which added a fresh, well-balanced contrast to the seafood-heavy menu. Everything traveled well, was thoughtfully prepared, and made for an unforgettable catered meal. If you're considering catering from Marimakan Crabhouse, I can't recommend it highly enough. Get the black pepper sauce! Amazing from start to finish, and Chef V or Rachel is lovely to work with.
