I was in the area grocery shopping and was hungry so I decided to stop by since I was across the street. To start off the aesthetic vibe is nice remind me of vietnam. There were no greeting when entering, the store is very clean and neat I give that to them. I got a pandan soy milk it was still warm when I got it. I ordered a #1 sandwich. And let me tell you the sandwich was ready in less than 1 minute. I was like wow that is really fast. So if you are ever in a rush I say come here. Now to review the sandwich I gave it a 3 out of 5 because the carrot daikon pickle were pretty sour. So it over power the sandwich letting it taking away the taste of the meat and pate. I can barely taste the pate and usually the pate is the best part. Also they did not toast the bread not sure if you're suppose to ask but most places is already toasted for you. Stopped by on a Friday afternoon for a little banh mi and fried tofu snack. Very casual counter service, a couple other customers during the visit. Got their combo banh mi and some fried tofu. Bread is made in house, and can be purchased separately (very crusty and tasty bread!!!). One tofu was their house specialty, which had some spice from chili. Other two kinds were lemongrass + spices, one version where it's tossed in the mix, other is where it's incorporated into the tofu (latter where it's incorporated was better imo). Also got this tofu pocket with pork and vermicelli, which was good (definitely benefits from being heated up). Got a little plastic cup of nuoc cham, which was great to dip the tofu in. Browsed other items available while they prepped the banh mi. In the pre-made section on tables, their fresh tofu with ginger sauce, soy milk (plain, pandan-flavoured), many sweet/savory banh, pandan-wrapped / banana leaf-wrapped goodies, a few baked goods, savory rice noodle boxes to go. Hot bar had steamed buns and baked goods. They also had desserts/drinks in a fridge off to the side. Overall, cheap banh mi (~$7-8) and tasty loose tofu (~$7-8). When I first heard of this place I thought it would be a smaller Vietnamese bakery so I was wholly unprepared for the variety of Vietnamese appetizers and small eats. If someone wanted to they could buy the bread from here, the pickled carrots and radishes, the ham, and possibly even the pate (I didn't see it) to make their own banh mi! Outside of just the banh mi, they also had sesame balls, fresh soy milk (sweetened and unsweetened) and because of the variety of items they sell, there are two check out locations-- one for the banh mi and one for the other items. Super convenient and there are some parking areas in front of the bakery. The location it self is very sketchy, just a block down is a line of homeless people, a lot of them are walking in the middle of the roads, on a substance. It's really sad - but I'd recommend to be aware of your surroundings. However, the place itself inside is clean, big, and very detailed. There are frozen items and fresh items placed daily. If it's tofu and vietnamese, most likely I've tried it. Or it's on my list. This place has been crowned the top tier tofu place in my books. Truly a tofu factory dream come true - fresh, home made tofu every single day. Want real soy milk? Look no further. They also make their soy milk every day and it comes piping HOT. Like, so hot, you can't carry the half gallon yourself and need to put it down because it's gonna give you 1st degree burns. Lol. Grab the green one - the pandan flavor. That one is absolutely the best. If you're not daring, the regular one is fine too. They used to make one with no sugar (non-sweetened) but I haven't seen that one lately. Either way, fresh soy milk is a must here. And I believe it's $3 and some change. Their fresh pressed tofu is also a must here. Very fresh and way better than the stores. (even though they do sell these in-stores at various Asian stores now)...why buy it at the store when you can buy it at the source? Their hot foods are also amazing. I'm a gatekeeper... SORRY, not sorry. I gotta keep my favorite banh cuon a secret man. Come here like an hour or so after they open... sometimes, maybe 10-15 minutes after they open and they will have FRESH rice rolls. Sometimes, it's the pork ones that are ready first. Sometimes, it's the tofu ones. It's usually first come first serve and they don't make it all day. So best to come when they open and order by the pound. I usually grab at least 1 or 2 lbs, and it's worth it. Fresh made banh cuon. Sometimes, they'll have it past 12pm, but other times, good luck. If you dont want them stuffed, you can also just get the fresh rolls for whatever meal you are making. Down the line is also fresh fried tofu - stuffed, plain, mixed with jalepenos and cilantro, or lemongrass.. whatever shape or size you want, they will have some assortment. Delicious and vegan. Obviously except for the ones stuffed with meat. Want a quick bite? THey also sell chicken curry on the weekends. I have yet to try that one. But it's also fresh. Want a banh mi instead? when you enter, go straight to the counter but walk towards the right as that is the banh mi line. They have like 10 different options? I personally don't care for the banh mi's here (sorry). But it is fresh every day. They're good if you really don't want to go anywhere else, but I've had better in my opinion. They also do vietnamese desserts like the ones with coconut milk and rice products, or the tapioca stuff. They also have other deli items you grab on the tables they have set up. Delicious fried sesame balls, hum baos, you name it. Parking is hit or miss - again, come when they open or within the half hour they open for best stuff and better parking. Otherwise, people can't park and will often double park, or cramp in since it's a little tiny. Or just park on the street and walk the extra 100 feet. Delicious, fresh tofu. Lots of interesting foods but they didn't all have names or labels so I couldn't tell what's vegetarian and it seemed busy so couldn't ask. I got the tofu bahn mi, pandan tofu pudding with ginger syrup, mix of various fried tofu and the fresh hot soya milk. I really liked it all. The bahn mi bread was not hard, and it was a little sweet but delicious. The pandan tofu - I wish was more pandan flavour. The soya milk was excellent. Bahn Son Tofu is a popular spot which carries a variety of foods. I came here on a Sunday afternoon to get Bahn Mis, since a friend had reccomended it. While the outside of the restaurant was quite dirty, I was surprised to see that inside, it was quite popular with lots of people ordering food. I ordered a combo Bahn mi, a side of spicy tofu, and also brought home a jug of freshly made soy milk. Huge fan of this spot! So glad we found this on Yelp because this is my tofu heaven! It's a casual walk in spot. They have a little parking lot so if you come when it's not too busy, parking is easy. Service is nice! It's kind of like a store and deli combined. They have an area where you can order bahn mi sandwiches, an area to shop for prepared items, and an area to order cooked tofu by the pound. The fresh tofu is YUM at this Seattle loc. Just YUM. Inexpensive compared to the little boxes of tofu one buys in a store. The Service is great. No worries, it is Asian style a mainstay of the community. So do not feel slighted if you are waiting and others get served too. They do their best and I have never waited more than a few minutes. What a nice surprise to find a Vietnamese tofu shop in the middle of International District! Like its name, they serve a variety of tofu options along with desserts and carnivore dishes. We bought a tray of their homemade Pandan Coconut Jelly, which were affectionally shaped like hearts. The dessert was nice and light, and not too sweet which is what I like. Ordering and paying for our item was very confusing. We didn't order from the hot bar so we didn't feel the need to stand in line, but there was also nobody at the counter to allow us to pay for our one item. Ended up standing in front of the cashier until they finished serving a large group and allowed us to quickly pay and leave. Better signage would help and maybe bringing someone that knows Viet, otherwise you might not get served for a while. read more

She said the yellow one was durian flavor, the orange one was gấc flavor and the green one pandan leaves flavor. I purchased it for $4.50 and took it home. This is probably one of my favorite banh mi deli places as the flavors of the banh mi's are just delicious! It's also great that they make their breads in house and fresh. The building consists of two different businesses. The left side is where you can buy desserts and fresh tofu products. Whereas, the right side is where you can order the banh mi's and any other deli items. It is a very spacious and clean building, with nice interior decor. It's great that they do have signs that encourage health safety, as in wearing masks and social distancing. On the deli side, they had a good number of people building the banh mi orders using an assembly line of three workers putting in the fillings for the banh mi's. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only downfall was the limited parking. They do have a private parking lot, but the parking can be rather difficult because of limited space in the lot. Other than parking, everything was great and I'd definitely continue to go here for my banh mi. read more

Came here to buy some tofu. I hadn't eaten this kind of stuff for years and I was missing my parents cooking. The store is clean and there's things around the deli as well as the cases where they serve you. The lemongrass tofu had a lot of lemongrass flavor. The mushroom and onion had a lot of noodles and mushrooms which I loved. Also grabbed a grilled pork banh mi and that was pretty good as well. I also got vegetarian food. Thanh Son has a few locations around the US but not the same quality across the board (referencing the one from OC). Food-wise, this is one of the best places for bánh mì in Seattle. I'll probably try the soy milk and tofu one of these days, as these are their specialty items. There's 2 different lines to buy take out items versus bánh mì, by the way. Because this is a take out spot, some items are sitting around, which affects the taste: * xôi (sweet sticky, glutinous rice): I got the tri-color one, and they all tasted exactly the same, so it must be food coloring. Usually, the taste is different from natural flavors. * bánh giò (banana leaf wrapped pork dumpling): The flavor for this was good, but my stomach didn't like this one too much. I prefer the one from Nissi Banh. * bánh tiêu (sesame bread): pretty good Like a lot of Vietnamese delis/take-out spots (or at least the ones that I'm used to), prices aren't posted for items not on the menu board, so you will have to ask though I agree it would make life easier if they were more transparent. read more

You're here for the banh mi. They make very good sandwiches and that's all you should order - vegetarian options are also available. The bread could be improved a bit (go early to get fresher loafs) but the fillings are moist and generous. This used to be a little place on 12th and Jackson when it primarily sold tofu that is hot and freshly made. Then it moved to a much better looking building while retaining the same great tofu while adding a nice deli with bánh mì. It used to be worth the long drive to Thanh Sơn Tofu. Where this is no longer worth the effort is after experiencing dramatic price increases with the mysterious pricing. This place was honestly overwhelming when I went for the first time but I've only had the fried tofu and now I crave it! Here are a few tips for newbies like me. You wait in the line and then a staff member will individually work with you to grab every item that you want. Just tell them what you want and they'll grab the items one by one. Then once your order is complete, they'll flash you a number. You'll go wait in front of the cash register until the cash register staff pulls up your number. The tofu and noodles were awesome as well. You have to purchase at least a pound of the bulk tofu or noodles to purchase though. The flavors were great. I came back again for dinner, but the place was emptied out or they put most of the things away. WIsh we could have had another meal here, but oh well. They sell desserts, steamed buns, soy milk, picked vegetables, etc here too. A pretty good selection. The service is a little slow though. This second review is not an update per se, but to provide additional information and sharing some of the unposted prices that I previously mentioned. Everything in the previous review remains to be true, except I'm saying they are a solid 3 Stars now, not a 3.5 Stars. Today's purchases are: Fried Tofu with Green Onion and Vermicelli - the 6 pieces were $4.56. They sell by weight since the pieces are not uniform. These are still a favorite. Banh Cuon (steam rice roll with cooked seasoned ground pork, minced wood ear mushroom, and minced shallots) - 4 pieces, it was over 1 lb. The total cost was $9.06. These are sold by weight. The per lb cost was $7+. They did something really gross here. The lady who packaged them also put in the nuoc cham container sitting on the Banh Cuon. The lady who weighed it then took the nuoc cham container out onto the dirty unwiped area next to the scale/register to weigh the container, and then promptly put it back in SITTING ON THE FOOD. BARF!!!!! She did it all so fast I didn't even have a chance to interrupt her. If it wasn't a small business, I would be flipping a lid on them. I was very impressed by the huge building, selection, amazing efficiency, and cleanliness of this Vietnamese tofu store. It's in a more hidden alley so mostly everyone in line seemed Vietnamese or long time loyal customers. Bahn mi are made at the right side, middle is pick and choose all sorts of ready to eat tofu, and left was the warm freshly made soy milk, pandan desserts, and salty grabs. Parking lot is busy and full with only a one way in and out but you can wait your turn for a spot since it's such a go in and out type of shop. While you're here you can shop across the street at the local Asian grocery wet market. It's quite hidden in a back alley so I wouldn't be surprised if local Seattlites did not know it existed. read more

Well.. Let me first say I enjoy the wide varieties of tofu available at Thanh son! However, having NOT visiting their establishment since the remodel it has been several years since I stepped foot inside. WOW! was my first impression upon entering the front entrance! I was somewhat familiar with the protocol and immediately got in line. Shortly after doing so another patron entered the store and to my surprise BOLDLY stepped in front of me!? My first thought was okay it's a female and she seemed to do so innocently however RUDE it seemed to me! I decided to let it go as it was barely 10 :00 a.m. on a sunny Saturday morning! Shortly afterwards she placed her order speaking in Vietnamese. It also dawned on me that there were no labels or prices on the various selections? How was I going to place my order if I don't speak Vietnamese? While waiting for her order I asked her what varieties of tofu are on display. She kindly informed me in English that there were 3 varieties Plain, Lemongrass, & another with fried shallots is what I thought I heard. By this time she had moved along to the cashier to pay. I was next in line and stepped up to the tofu display and asked the attendant how much per pound was the tofu. "5 dollar per pound", she barked out to my shock and dismay! I was astounded by her abrupt and hostile tone towards me! I was also a bit irritated at the same time as I did NOTHING even remotely offensive to warrant such a RUDE response! I let it go and told her I would like 1/2 a pound of lemongrass tofu please! She quickly picked up 2-3 pieces of tofu and angrily placed them inside a plastic sack without weighing the contents. Seeing that 1/2 a pound only consisted of 3 pieces I then asked her to please give me a pound! I don't know why but this request for some strange reason pushed her over the edge! She immediately grew hostile and agitated with me and practically threw my sack to the side! I was DONE with her! I immediately told her it's obvious that you don't want to help me so can you get someone else to assist me as you apparently are NOT AVAILABLE TO DO SO! She tried to smile and walk back her insolent demeanor BUT it was TOO LATE! The store manager apparently was the cashier and overheard my exchange with his employee and kindly stepped in to assist me as his present employee could/would NOT! He was apologetic and quickly provided me with the courteous customer service that once upon a time was customary! My question is, What happened to the friendly customer service whenever you purchase goods and services? Is it a bygone era replaced by rude and insolent clerks and employees who only care about profit margins and smoke breaks? I won't let an AGITATED & HOSTILE clerk intimidate me from shopping at Thanh Son Tofu! If and when I do come back I'll make sure that she DOESN'T get the opportunity to assist me! They have a whole selection of tofu you can pick from and pay for it by weight! They even have sandwiches you can try from. On 11/8/25 I stopped by and bought a lot of snacks: 2 grilled beef sandwiches, 2 grilled pork sandwiches, 2 bánh giò, 1 bánh tét, and 2 pork buns. On the way home, I found out only 1 pork bun on the bag while the receipt showed I paid 2. Not only that, the meat on grilled pork sandwich was stale and tough; the pork in the bun was too rancid and the quail egg was too tough to eat. Thus, I had to throw them away. Moreover, I couldn't swallow bánh giò và bánh tét for they were the worst things I have ever eaten. What a waste of money! Apparently, they sold me their old food which they couldn't sell on days before because I was the 1st customer on that day. I really don't want to give them any star even one!
