So I've been on eat out at home kick. Where I find local places that have really good prices and I buy enough for a day or two. I popped in after finding the other local Vietnam deli. I love the little aunties inside. They're so helpful and kind and welcoming. I wanted to see their different variety. It was a little different, but just as good and with the different flare. The wonton soup let's talk about that. It was absolutely amazing. It came in two separate containers and had some spare ribs inside of broth. The wontons were on side hot. Alot of wontons with shrimp and pork inside of them. Let me tell you it was an absolute treat. The spring roll were yummy. I think I got one free. I've got these little cookies that were crunchy I loved. The shrimp those were something to write home about. I think I paid nine dollars for that container and it was absolutely fantastic. One of the best Vietnamese Deli in Seattle! This deli is pretty busy, but the service still pretty quick. We ordered the #1, which is the grilled pork bahn mi. But I also added pate to my sandwich and oh my, it made the sandwich better! (The sandwich is already good without it, but made even better with!) We got here early, so lots of the other food were coming out fresh for customers to purchase. Some of the items they brought out were; vermicelli bowls, bahn cuon, spring rolls, and desserts, etc. As for the deli, it's busy. Customers always walking in and out of the place. I do think they get tidy up when the lobby is empty. Because it's not messy or unorganized. The lobby is not very big, there isn't much room when there's customers ordering and waiting for their food in the lobby. The wait time is not long at all! The deli is tucked away in a rather run-down part of the neighborhood. I managed to find parking, but the lot itself was grimy and had a noticeable odor. Thankfully, the interior of the shop was clean and well-kept, which was a relief. I picked up three of their signature pork banh mi sandwiches at $6 apiece--a solid deal, especially compared to the pricier options on the Eastside. Each sandwich came stuffed with grilled pork slices, fresh cilantro, pickled carrots and daikon, jalapeños, and a savory sauce. I had my first Bahn Mi here the other night and was shocked how delicious it was!! The sandwiches were a hefty portion, especially for $6!!!! I got the tofu and my friend tried the roasted and BBQ pork. I don't eat meat but he really liked both pork options. I loved the tofu! The food was warm and fresh. Bring cash if you have it, as they seem to prefer. As for the location- unfortunately, as locals know, the ID has some issues. This is a slightly rougher area than the areas the tourists go to! Came on a Thursday around lunch and it was busy with a small stream of people ordering and moving in and out of the store. It's cramped but certainly loaded either way lots of grab and go items, some refrigerated items, and hot food items. I ordered some viet coffee, chicken curry, banh cuon, nem nuong banh mi, and a rice platter. All of this came to a total of $37 which is an amazing deal since this can be eaten over multiple meals. They have so many pre-made, ready-to-go food items on top of a vast Banh Mi & plate lunch selection--it can definitely be a bit overwhelming if you don't have a game plan! Nothing is labeled so I'm never 100% sure what I'm getting, but it's hard to go wrong. I'm very partial to their banh cuon and what I think is pan-fried radish/turnip cake w/ egg. The Mango Salad is also very refreshing, and a great deal at $10 (and comes with shrimp)! Their banh mis are solid for the price point, but I usually try to stick to the pre-made or plate lunch options to try to eat as many unique options as possible! They have another location right around the corner, but I found the parking here to be easier in their shared lot with the strip mall this location is in. Once inside, there was a large menu board and some prepared foods laid out for purchase. I ordered 3 banh mi dac biets and 1 charshu banh mi. I also picked up some banh cuons, which were prepackaged. Upon arriving home minutes later, I discovered I was given 3 charshus and 1 dac biet, the opposite of what I ordered. This made it difficult to give people in my group the right banh mi. Otherwise, they were pretty good, but nothing special. I did like how the banh cuons came with just the rolled stuffed with meat and no sides except fish sauce as I typically don't enjoy the sides as much. This is a small niche in the International District. It is to go. The food is excellent. My favorites are the beef shanks, meatballs are huge and the best Vietnamese Saigon meatballs I've ever had. Their braised pork belly with hard boiled eggs is really really good- I like to crumble the whole egg over my pork. The pork and beef and chicken is so very tender- it's excellent. Their bàhn mí is excellent- the bread is so fresh. It tastes like they bake their own bread. I've had the roasted pork bàhn mí about three or four times now, it's excellent. The roast pork is super tender and the flavors are wonderful. I'm not quite sure if the vegetables are pickled and or what butter they use- along with paté but the flavor is superb. I would try their other sandwiches but the pork really hits home. The people that work there are very friendly and it's a nice atmosphere- I walked in one day and the place was packed full of people and they quickly served everyone in minutes- extremely efficient and great quality. I used to make my own braised hot pot - tendon, cartilage, beef, meatballs etc. but why when you have it done perfectly by this nice spot in the city. I happened to be near the CID and decided to stop by for a takeout. The food is plentiful. I mean, I wish I had some photos but they were stacked. I decided to get two item combo with pork belly and beef stew. Additionally, I got a premade drink which I have no idea what the name is. It was milky drink with jellies and beans. Delicious! The to-go container was so packed. The food was enough for two meals at minimum for under $15. Not a bad deal. Used to work at the Seattle Indian center close by here. Lunchtime meant I picked my daughter up from the downstairs daycare and off we went, looking for lunch. We Liked to walk and explore the neighborhood. We found good banh mi here. Overall, a great inexpensive sandwich. One caveat, Not filled to good sandwich capacity, it would have been a better sandwich if the filling to bread ratio was higher. Can be skimpy. Heads up, there is a service fee if you pay card so cash is definitely preferred by them. in planning, this is strictly a to go place. No seating inside. I would order our food and find a place to eat outside. Other than sandwiches, they also offer other items. Such as Vietnamese dumplings, rice, egg rolls and dessert. As a novice, I can add these to my order for an inexpensive price and try out the various flavors. You can order these to round out your lunch order. Confusingly there is another deli with a very similar name, but luckily both are quite good. My parents and Iike this deli for their inexpensive and tasty banh mi, the banh it tran, the bo cuon la lot, and the pate chaud. For me, the banh it tran (glutinous rice balls stuffed with mung bean and shrimp) and the bo buon la lot (beef wrapped in herbal leaves, like the Vietnamese version of dolmas) are the best. The banh mi bread is excellent and light, but the standard Viet cold cuts version is meager on the meat. The roasted pork (heo quay) version has a good portion of meat, but sometimes the meat doesn't seem the freshest. The grilled meat version is solid. The pate chaud is flaky and the filling isn't too fatty. Prices are very reasonable. read more

Hard to find another place around Seattle that's much cheaper than $4.50 per banh mi. The bread itself was light, airy, and well toasted. The pickles could've been a bit more fermented. A little heavy on the mayo. An okayyy portion and quality of meat in the sandwich, I've seen better and worse, but again... this is a great value meal. I did feel a little sick afterwards though with a mild stomachache and diarrhea. As far as cleanliness goes, this is a pretty rustic place with heavy foot traffic from the homeless population. I really felt bad for the shop because in the 5 or so minutes I was waiting around for my sandwiches to be made... 3 homeless individuals stole food off the counter. This deli has been around for a LONG time! I've been coming here since early 1990's. I think they have been around since early 1980's! How's that for a fixture in Little Saigon?!? This place may seem a little intimating when you go in. Chances are you'll hear lots of Vietnamese being spoken. Don't worry though, there is at least always one person who speaks perfect English. Sometimes it's the kid. :) Their offerings are in 4 categories: 1. Banh Mi sandwiches Look up to see their menu. I believe the current price for one is $4. Same price regardless of type. 2. Behind the counter hot foods This is where things start to get a little bit mysterious. There are no labels to the names of the foods nor prices. They sell by container size. I've bought eggplants + tofu and green beans + tofu, and was happy with both the amount of food and the cost. It was maybe ~$4 to $5 for the small container. 3. Grab and Go foods These are less intimating but still no names and no prices. The savory items tend to be $4 while the sweet items tend to be $3. You can't really go wrong just grabbing some to try it. 4. Snacks, grocery story type foods and refrigerator sweets For the latest purchase, I did #3 only and chose: Banh Cuon (savory, $4) - 4.5 stars Tender rice-flour crêpes filled with a mix of pork and mushrooms and topped with fried shallots, dipped in Nuoc Mam Cham (fish sauce mix) Taro, egg, scallion stir-fry (savory, $4) - 4 stars This re-heated really well at home. I pan-fried and it was sizzling hot in no time. Banh Da Lon (sweet, $3) - 4 stars Pandan and Mung Bean Cake - I honestly don't know what is the authentic version of this. Roasted pork was pretty tasty but I wish there was more meat in the sandwich Bbq pork: pork was chewy and not super flavorful Shredded chicken: chicken was super shredded and super dry. It's a small space, so there isn't a straightforward line or clear waiting area that doesn't feel like you're in the way of someone. RE COVID protocols: Social distancing is nearly impossible, and although it wasn't required, I kept my mask on inside. I've never had a meatball banh mi before, and I really enjoyed it.
