Good drip coffee and a cool atmosphere. The empanadas were delicious and a must try for breakfast. The service was on point and friendly. There's no seating inside, but you can stand outside and drink your coffee.

When I first walked in to bump coffee, I noticed in a case behind the counter they were these items. I thought they were maybe danish or croissants and then I was told no what we sell is empanadas. Bacon, ham, sausage and I remember thinking, I have never thought of having an empanada for breakfast or lunch. So yesterday, my curiosity got the best of me and I went in after my walk and bought some. All the flavors that I wanted had been sold out and are sold out every day before 10 AM. OK, reboot. I talked to the lovely lovely women behind the counter and then I think the manager or the owner came up to me and said we can sell them to you frozen and you can heat them up at home. So we did for appetizers last night. OMG! They were without a doubt the best new appetizer we have ever had, we could only eat between us three maybe two, but they were so full of flavor and cheese and a little egg and the meats. It's in a little mall next to VG so easy to find a lot of parking on the street and their lot, the service is nothing but smiles and how can I help? This is a rad place and by the way, the coffee is outstanding.

Cute, little open air coffee shop for grab 'n go coffee and empanadas. They are only open until 2pm so make sure to visit in the mornings. I visited just after lunch and 2 empanada flavors were left: bacon, egg, and cheese and ham & cheese. The staff member at the register said her favorite was ham & cheese and she was right! It was pretty good. The bacon, egg, and cheese flavor was just ok. There is a little bar top (standing only) to enjoy your coffee and treats. It looks out to the parking lot an in the direction of the ocean so you get the nice ocean air.

Basic and simple coffee shop, more of "grab n go" type of place. No seating at all. There is a small counter top table where you can stay and linger for a bit while sipping your coffee. No expresso or other coffee drink varieties. Just simple pour over coffee. Pleasant customer service. I was able to try Caprese empanada which was small but still pretty good. I would stop by again if I'm in the neighborhood.

The sausage, egg, and cheese empanada was very flavorful. The breading was crisp on the outside and flaky on the inside. Great and efficient service. Fantastic live music was also being played. Great experience overall!

4++ small coffee spot located in a strip mall in Cardiff. The place has a neighborhood favorite feel to it with beachy vibes probably emanating from the literal beach two blocks away. With her highly streamlined menu and quick and friendly service, this is a perfect spot to do a grab and go or to quickly enjoy your food here at the island counter where you can stand and soak everything in. I believe most if not all the coffees they do are pour overs and they only serve breakfast empanadas. Came here with my cousin a couple times now since she lives a brief walking distance from the spot. The coffee is great and the breakfast and empanadas are tasty. They give you Tapatio packets if you want an extra kick. This place is definitely a great spot for a small bite and your coffee fix.

Cute Cardiff by the sea beachside coffee shop. I has the mint mojito and was similar to Philz but less sweet, which is good, but I feel also less caffeine, which for me I'm a caffeine addict, but the drink tastes great. The girl serving me was helpful and while minor, the cup the drink is served in seems high quality for a disposable cup.

More of a coffee window than a coffee shop. Very limited indoor space with nowhere to sit inside. Service was quick and friendly. I had the the coffee mojito and it was pretty good, not as sweet as Phil'z. Not a huge menu but they have the basics and they make the coffee fast. Some pastries are available.

My friend and I both had the Iced Mojito Coffee (two separate orders) at the Farmer's Market this Saturday. Sadly, we were both very disappointed. Very weak coffee, tasted more like an iced tea than an iced coffee. Not sure if this was just a one time brewing issue or is their coffee always this strength. read more

Place never disappoints. Total local spot with great cold brew, pour over coffee and fresh juices. The staff is always welcoming and they've added a few tables and benches out front to stay and relax. We've lived in Cardiff for just over a year now, and this is hands down the best shop around. read more

Went to Camp Shred this weekend - the world's largest surf demo. At this wonderful event they had a coffee truck, Bump Coffee. They had two options, hot coffee or cold brew. Ordered the hot coffee with cream and sugar. I thought it was going to be just a regular perk me up for a bit type coffee but oh was I so wrong. It was so delicious! I walked up to their truck not knowing anything about them and left a huge fan. Thank you Bump for kick starting my Camp Shred experience! read more

Honestly...HONESTLY, the best coffee I have ever had. It puts anything: Starbucks, Dunkin', Gevalia, Peet's or anything local I've ever had to shame. These guys know their stuff. Rich, smooth and full of delicious flavor. I dare you to try this coffee for a cup 'o joe and then switch back to your regular coffee. It'll depress you. Cheers to Bump Coffee!! read more

Ummmmm..... I love love love Coffee. Especially Pour over coffee. Ummm... This is how you do a proper pour over. Measure out coffee to a desirable amount( 1:15) about 20 Grams to 300 grams of water at around 200 degrees. Bloom grounds with 30 grams of water for about 35 seconds . In batches of 60 grams of water in a circle till you reach 300 grams of water . Time should take 2:30 - 3:00 mins . Proper extraction time. Great tasting coffee. This is how Bump does it. One scoop of grounds(not weighted). Hot water (god knows what temperature) from a machine into pitcher and dumped into the pour over .Floods the grounds and fills up the carafe. Squeezes the filter to drain coffee .Pours coffee into cup. About 1/8th coffee still remains and back under the pour over for the next cup. Coffee tastes like tea and not coffee. The grounds didnt have time to extract coffee correctly. I guess high volume over quality. The cashier guy seemed kinda annoyed when my wife gave him a $1 tip . read more

Ran into this truck at the San Diego Crew Classic this past weekend. I needed some coffee and I swear I thought I followed them on Instagram but I wasn't sure lol. Anyways I ordered the hot coffee (limited selection but I'm not complaining!), but wow I haven't had a cup of coffee that amazing in a very long time I was even offered cream and sugar but I like to try my coffee first before adding anything in, and I'm glad I didn't add anything else since it was just perfect! Sweet, not bitter at all, and just a perfect cup to have with me while at the regatta. Thanks Bump! I'll go out of my way to find y'all's whenever I'm in SD again! read more

Great place, good food, and friendly staff. Empanadas are very tasty- I have tried the chorizo and egg, sausage and egg, sweet corn, and veggie. They are all delicious and made with high quality ingredients. Love the pour over coffee with coconut milk. Smooth rich coffee flavor. read more

Best spot in Encinitas. I personally like to starve myself for about 12-18 hours and then gorge on 3 ham and cheese empanada's (my personal favorite but all are great). I am working up the courage and appetite to tackle the family pack (which is 12). Coffee makes me super excited too so checks the boxes on my caffeine fix. Cool guys too read more

The best spot for pour over coffee in the Encinitas area. During this coronavirus we saw on Instagram that they were doing delivery so decided to order a 2lb bag to last me a bit. The delivery was set for the next day and within 2 hours one of the guys, Trevor, had already delivered it to my door! Had my first cup this morning and it was the best cup of coffee I've had in months. BUMP is awesome! read more

Friendly staff, reasonable prices and a good location. Coffee was hot and strong just like I..... you know. Met a friend for a cuppa this morning and loved the fact that I was in Cardiff looking at the ocean, drinking delicious coffee and didn't have to fight for parking. The ONLY coffee shop I go to when I make my weekly commute from Long Beach to San Diego. This coffee shop truly has it all: great food, delicious coffee, and top notch customer service. I would drive the 80 miles just to have the Italian Sausage breakfast empanada. The flaky, soft, bundle of goodness is beyond comprehension when it comes to happiness. I usually wash it down with ice cold cold brew and I am one happy customer. I have also had their Kombucha on tap which is divine. The employees consistently are smiling, talkative, and always provide above and beyond service. The overall vibe is a place I want to come back again and again. 5 stars for BUMP Coffee! read more

Ok suddenly become a huge fan of pour over coffee which I had never even heard of before visiting this place. Actually came to see VG's crack laced donuts and stopped there when I was done. Very nice, highly recommend, especially with donuts in the same shopping center. read more

Love the simplicity of Bump Coffee. Delicious pour overs done right. Want cream and sugar in your coffee? Let them know and they'll mix it in just right. I highly recommend the empanadas, too! I enjoyed the Mushroom and goat cheese and this empanada was overflowing with mushrooms. Delish! read more

So stoked this spot is open! This is my absolute favorite coffee in SD. Always roasted to perfection, smooth and chocolatey. I love that their pour over only takes a minute or 2 unlike the hipster spots that manage to make me wait 15 minutes for a cup of coffee. I tried every empanada and they were all super tasty. My son liked the breakfast one the best. The owners Ryan and Trevor live right up the road, so you are supporting locals as well. Definitely worth popping by. read more

Not your typical coffee shop(in a good way!). If you are looking for lattes and cappuccinos head somewhere else. Bump makes all pour over coffees for hot coffee and they also have cold brew. The empanadas are delicious. Reminds me of a small cafe in Latin America or something. Love it. read more

Bump is the bees knees!! The coffee here beats every other coffee shop. It's not your typical coffee place where they make fancy lattes or anything and I personally think that's a great thing! My go to is a cold-brew with their house-made, lemme repeat that HOUSE-MADE, almond milk. And the empanadas are soooo bomb, my go-to is the potato chorizo . Came by here on a Saturday morning soon after they had opened. Got an iced Mojito - pour over is smooth, and the mint is a nice touch. Also got empanadas, they weren't quite ready when I got there but only had to wait 5 mins. The breakfast empanada contained an entire perfectly cooked egg with a runny yolk. 5 stars just for that excellent execution. Also got the mushroom and the corn and basil empanadas, both excellent. Wish I lived in this neighborhood, this would be my go to for coffee and a snack. read more

Got a bottled cold brew at the Holiday street festival in Little Italy this weekend. The coffee was a bit darker and more bitter than I expect from a cold brew and was priced for California (see: expensive). The guy was super patient with my grandmother though who insisted they use her Coffee Mate she carries around though I'm sure it took a chunk of his soul to do so. I would have probably enjoyed the experience more at an actual cafe but overall, I wasn't impressed with the coffee. read more

We also got a carne empanada and the flavor was to die for. The beef and onion was so delicious and savory. It was juicy inside but the outside was crispy and dry not soggy at all. The portion size was fairly large as well. We also got the yuca frites. They were good. Crispy but still nice and starchy and filling. Not my favorite dish but only because of personal preference and not because they didn't do it well! Lastly we ended with the pork shank special they had for the night. It was absolutely amazing. The meat just fell off the bone and was so tender. I loved how the mushroom and spinach came with the pork. All of the different parts of the fish came together really well to made it exceptional. It was a hearty and comforting meal and I wish it were on their regular menu! I'm excited to come here again in the future to try more dishes.

This is a legacy…read more My husband grew up riding his bike all the way from Del Mar as a kid, risking life, limb, and probably traffic laws, just for a hot glazed chocolate donut. That kind of dedication tells you everything you need to know about these donuts. Decades later, our cousins drive them 3 hours to Los Angeles like precious cargo for the family to enjoy when they come to visit. A donut. 3 hours in a car. Still incredible. Some things are just built different. Our cousins are hero's! Only one complaint, they are not open late, which is truly a crime against everyone with late night munchies and poor decision making skills. The world needs VG Donuts at midnight. Someone please make this happen. We will be back. My husband's inner 10 year old on a bike absolutely demands it.

Super weird experience. The 1 star is NOT for the coffee which unfortunately I was unable to taste. The 1 star is for terrible customer service. Saturday, busy & beautiful day with lots of people out and about in this adorable beach town. We yelp for coffee and Bump comes up. My daughter & I meander over to find said coffee shop. Yelp assures us it's open. We call to make sure. Guy answers says "yeah" when we ask so we proceed. Arrive 3 minutes later. Place is dark. Door locked. No sign of human activity. Hmmmm. Well, my coffee was pretty good, but the owner shamed a customer and she was shaken up. Seemed she was going to cry, but she kept composure. I won't be coming back to this place. Later outside I talked with the woman, who in my opinion was in the right, and told her about other local coffee shops. A few days ago I ran into her at a coffee cafe (which I won't name here) and we sat together and chatted. Happy ending, the Bump owner's meanness turned out to be as blessing in disguised as I made a new friend! read more
