I really like the coffee here and the buns are good too! It's my favorite place to get coffee on Commercial drive. It's smooth and balanced, not bitter. The street parking isn't too bad on this end of commercial. They have lots of seating and even some outside. The service is usually friendly and never bad. Seriously....these guys are great! I work right next door and it's really cool that all of the staff know me by name and know what I'm going to order. The snacks are great and healthy with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free alternatives. The coffee is stupid good! Cappuccino with chocolate? Oh yeah! The only downside to having such great coffee is that they're a popular spot. It's not like Starbucks where they just crank out the Joe. Perfection takes a little time, especially during peak times. I returned to Bump n Grind last week and it seems they've cleaned up their act a lot. I like the communal work tables and their espresso is a lot better. The staff were pretty nice and friendly. So I ask for a dry cappuccino and the barista says "we only serve traditional wet cappuccinos". First, there is no such thing. A wet cappuccino is a latte. Stop making things up because you are too lazy to make foam. Second, maybe you should consider trying to give the customer something they want, particularly when they are paying $4 for it. Finally, the owners of this cafe should consider hiring baristas who know what they are doing, and who understand what *customer* service is.... there are a lot of other cafes where I can take my business. read more

I sometimes grab a coffee on the way to work. Specifically the clover as they were one of the first places to get one. Superbly made and it's worth the extra price. Note that the other location on main doesn't have a clover, so you have to come to the Drive! read more

The london fog was one of the best that I have ever had. Perfect amount of sweet with the slightest hint of lavender... I hate lavender but they somehow make it work! Also tried the matcha brownie - delicious! Heavy white chocolate taste that went well with the delicate matcha flavours. The wifi was OK, connection was unstable but at least it wasn't Shaw because I don't have a Shaw account. I'm not giving 5 stars because the music was way too loud and the seating was uncomfortable, and there were no outlet plugs. I'll definitely be back for a London fog! read more

They have 49th Parallel coffee!! This has got to be one of the best coffees in Vancouver! The set up is great for a coffee date or meeting. I also loved the triple berry muffin! However, the choice of pastries is slim. read more

After an awful experience at another coffee shop trying to get a latte, I stumbled by this place by accident. It was a saving grace. They made me a killer soy chai latte. The staff were friendly, it was quiet (went at 5 pm) and I ended up having an awesome conversation with complete strangers about Much Music Video dance parties. They home made large gluten free/diary free Oreo cookie. The latte was $4.45 which is slightly expensive for a latte, however, still worth it in the end. I can't remember the last time I had a good friendly conversation with strangers. I didn't want to leave. read more

Awesome place for a coffee or spot of tea. Service and ambience are superb. It's similar to Revolver as they continuously rotate through local roasts, but the atmosphere isn't is dark and pretentious. They really know how to pull a good espresso here. A great spot to grab a coffee with awesome scenery in East Van. Grabbed a great tasting iced Americano with almond milk which is a nice option for the lactose intolerant such as myself. Simple, straight forward reading coffee menu along with pastries that you can point to and say "That one". Chilled out with some friends here on their looooong outdoor table which is great for up-close conversation and the always entertaining people watching on Commercial Drive. My favorite coffee on the Drive. Not sure what it is about it, but it's what got me drinking black coffee - so good you don't want to add anything to it! I love the idea of giving you a carafe of coffee and a mug as well. Great selection of goodies there as well (ranging from a lunch and breakfast items to full sugar explosion deliciousness, with some healthier and even vegan and raw options). The staff are GREAT, and the overall energy of the place is nice. I would walk down here nearly every morning in the summer for a coffee and bring my book :) read more

I love everything about this place. I love the eclectic music they play. I love the big windows looking out on to the drive and the outdoor seating. I love the always-changing sandwich board with funny sayings. I love the adorable baristas (especially the super friendly cute boy with brown hair). I LOVE their muffins they bake fresh every morning. The vegan chocolate and plum is literally the best muffin I've ever had. And of course... I LOVE the coffee. It's ground and brewed fresh to order. Great neighbourhood coffee shop. Good coffee, great friendly staff and a comfortable spot to sit and read. When every other coffee shop on the drive is packed to the gills you can come to bump and grind and still find a little corner for yourself. Highly recommend the clover coffee - this is the only place I've had it and it's a pretty wicked experience. Oh also highly recommend the homemade scones and muffins made in back. read more

Best coffee on the drive, I think. Renzo's is closer to me, and has super delicious cakes (from Rook, I think,) but disappointing cappuccinos and lattes. From now on I'm walking the extra blocks up to Venables. Consistently best cappuccino I've had apart from 49th P. AND, like 49th Parallel, they have very super delicious chocolate croissants (maybe from Thomas Haas?) and good muffins. They don't have a lot of baked goods but what they have is good, fresh, and not too gluten free. I haven't had an Americano but they smell good and these guys take their coffee craftsmanship pretty seriously I think. Small but nice minimalist decor and free wifi. Two thumbs up. read more

I went to Bump n Grind and asked for a decaf cappuccino with almond milk to go and was told they don't steam almond milk. OK, how about a decaf espresso with non-steam almond milk? I was given the decaf espresso in a ceramic cup and so I asked for a to go cup. The guy just stared at me, gave me the stink eye, and said "no". I asked why no? He said that they serve the best and most expensive coffee in Vancouver and they are rated on their coffee and my wanting it in a paper cup devalues the coffee. I said I paid for it and it's my preference. As he begrudgingly gave me a paper cup to pour my expensive espresso into he said "please don't ever come back here again". I replied that that would not be a problem and that he should consider customer service in their ratings. read more
