A great place for dinner. Beautiful interior. Great food and the owner/host was very friendly! Highly recommend for an intimate or group dinner!

Bumpkins is a cute steak house in Downtown Toronto. Location is great, extremely clean, very romantic on the inside. Service was great as well, both servers were attentive and were very interested in getting to know us. We ordered the French onion soup, the garlic portobello mushroom appetizer, the fillet, and the NY strip. Everything was delicious. The steaks came with simple veggies and oven roasted potatoes, but the garlic butter on the steak and the meat juices really allows you to enjoy the steak. The only issue we had was that the steaks were a bit over done, we ordered medium and they came very close to well.

Came to this place as my first dine-in experience in Toronto after 2020. The location is great, heart of the downtown and parking spots available. The staff are nice, helpful, and funny. The only thing was they did not know the wifi password haha. The bread was fresh out of the oven, delicious with butter. The french onion soup was amazing, the seasoning was spot-on and the cheese was good. The main course is where this place loses it. I ordered medium rare beef tenderloin and got medallions of tenderloin, some rare some well-done and chewy (my gums still hurt). The plating could be better, it was a mess. The lamb was a bit cold and not cooked well.

Great ambiance, wonderful staff and delicious food. Also the wine recommendation was fantastic! 5 stars! Great experience!

Contrary to what you may think, you will not find any Bumpkins at this place.

Bumpkins has been around for decades and contrary to it's name, it is actually a very high end spot. I had to check it out after constantly walking by at night time when it was closed. The place is beautifully lit and tastefully decorated with art and sculptures. There is a nice patio which in the day plays beautiful music. Everything from Vivaldi to classic Italian opera hits. The staff are not the traditional "young and hip cool people" you get in Toronto but rather well spoken, educated and refined gentlemen and women. The food as with everything else exudes class. Seafood, pasta, steak and much more. All reasonably priced and I would even consider them to be great value when you factor in the quality. All in all, this place is an old neighborhood staple which is less known than most and located just far enough off Yonge to be tranquil and romantic for those special evenings. I truly do recommend people give it a shot because these guys do it better than your average Bumpkins!

We enjoyed the dinner here at Bumpkins. Service is very attentive and not feeling rush at all. We choose the prefix menu 44.00. Appetizer was a choice of a Ceasar salad or Spinach soup, along with a hot dinner roll. There were many options for the main course. We all decided on the boneless leg of lamb. The plate came with 3 large portion of lamb, quartered potatoes, mix of brussel sprouts, broccoli and carrots, steamed perfectly. Dessert was a choice of cream caramel(egg custard) very well done with fresh fruits and a dab of whipped cream or ice cream which came fresh fruit as well. For our friend who was afraid of both choices being too sweet she was offered a bowl of fresh fruit. I found the staff very accommodating. If you have subscription to the Mirvish theater make sure you let them know ahead of time for a additional discount.

Best rack of lamb and Cuban lobster I have ever had. The appetizers were good too and the French chocolate torte was to die for. So good totally recommend for fine dining. Service was excellent. Totally catered to us because it was our anniversary. But I think they do anyway.

I think having caviar at the top would have made it even better though. Le Pithivier - Beef Wellington "À la Française", Foie Gras, Spinach, Mushrooms, Beef Jus : I added this for $80 and it was delightful. As an add on i I suggest sharing this as it is substantial. You can feel the Paris inspiration the moment you walk in, from the chic brass-accented bar to the warm ambient lighting and stylish design. We went for a Saturday dinner at 7pm and surprisingly had no trouble booking a last-minute reservation. We started with cocktails -- the Beurre Noisette (Brown Butter Spring Mills Whisky, Spice Rack Demerara, Aged Bitters) and the Eau Poivre (Tromba Blanco Tequila, Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Cointreau, White Pepper, Lime, Cucumber Bitters). Both drinks were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. For starters, we had two French Onion Soups (rich beef broth, red wine, caramelized onion, toasted baguette, and Gruyère cheese), which were seriously comforting and, in my opinion, some of the best French onion soups in the city. We also shared the escargots with garlic, butter, parsley, lemon, and brioche -- classic and satisfying. For mains, my date ordered the Duck Confit Cassoulet with Herbes de Provence sausage, lardons, white beans, tomato, parsley, and jus, and I had the Beef Bourguignon with braised beef, pomme purée with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, and bordelaise. Both dishes were beautifully cooked and rich in flavour. We finished with crème brûlée (vanilla bean custard with Chantilly and berries) and lemon curd cheesecake (pâte sablée with lemon curd and blueberries). Both desserts were a lovely finish to the meal. The place was busy without feeling chaotic, and the service was friendly and professional, even if a little slower than I expected. The food was delicious overall and showed quality and creativity. The room was a bit chilly for my liking. I ended up draping my coat over my lap to stay warm (I get cold easily, though). Frenchy is a beautiful spot for date night or a special dinner, and I'd happily return to try more from the menu.

Located on the 54th floor of the TD Tower, the views alone already set the tone before the food even arrives. The ambiance was romantic and intimate, with dimmed lighting that made the space feel elevated without being stuffy. A nice touch right from the start: complimentary coat check (always appreciated in the winter), and validated parking -- just remember to provide your license plate to the host. We ordered the featured cocktail (big rock candy) and spirit free to enjoy throughout our meal. The cocktail was on the sweet side but the tequila really helped balance out the sweetness. It also came with a mini skewer of candy that you can munch on. For starters, we ordered the beef tartare and the smoked trout tostada. Both were beautifully presented and well balanced. The beef tartare was rich and clean in flavour, while the smoked trout tostada felt lighter and refreshing, making it a great contrast to begin the meal. For mains, we both chose the Alberta beef. The beef itself was cooked nicely and very tender, but paired with the mashed potato and truffle mushroom cream sauce, the dish leaned on the heavier side. Comforting and indulgent, though a bit rich after a full appetizer course. Dessert wrapped things up on a high note with the chocolate tart and pudding chômeur. Both were beautifully presented, with the chocolate tart decadent but not overly sweet, and the pudding chômeur warm and nostalgic... a cozy, satisfying way to finish the meal. Overall, Canoe's Winterlicious dinner offered a well-rounded experience with elevated flavours, thoughtful service, and one of the best views in the city. The steak was cooked to perfection, the potatoes that came with this main were also impressive with their strong but robust flavour of thyme, and it wasn't greasy, just fried perfection. The app, I had the stracciatella cheese with rye and the grapes were blanched I think and the skins were peeled off, this was a very delicate dish, not very flavourful, but the textures is really where you'll see the layers come out.
