I am a bbh snob and I came here off the suggestion of a random stranger at a casino when discussing the best pho spots. I didn't have high expectations, but boy was I wrong. We ordered grilled pork spring rolls, bun Bo hue or the spicy noodles, and a combo pho . For drinks we had an orange juice and Vietnamese iced coffee. The spring rolls were so good! Packing the flavor in the grilled pork. The bbh AMAZING! I'm telling you it tasted authentic and delicious. I would have wanted more chillies, but I added the chili on the table instead. The drinks ... top notch. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was their pho. The broth was a little bland and took a lot of me seasoning for my partner. I understand because it is Elk Grove and they have to cater to different palettes. The chili oil was also not spicy and looked like a mixture of the Chinese red chili. I have my go-to pho spots, but my husband and I were feeling adventurous, so we decided to try this place since it was near the movie theater we were at. Walked in during Sunday dinnertime, and the place was full. Nothing breathtaking in the decor department. It felt like most of the other pho establishments I've been to. Luckily, a table was finishing up, so we sat within 5 minutes. Side note: the front is a bit awkward because it looks like you should stop right when you walk in and be greeted by a host, but you need to keep going past to the cash register. Don't get caught standing awkwardly as we did. When we sat and got a chance to look at the menu, we were very pleased with the prices. Very affordable, and when we looked around, we saw big bowls and plates, so we thought we were in for a reasonably priced feast. We started with calamari. My husband got a small chicken pho bowl, and I got a beef vermicelli bowl. First off, the calamari, while the pieces looked humongous, was mostly just fried batter. The calamari itself was super chewy and tough. I ended up stripping most of the fried part off so I could really chew into the calamari. I did like the veggies and garnish, though. I ended up nibbling on those afterwards since I was so disappointed by the calamari. I had a small bite of my husband's pho bowl (pretty decent amount for a small) and honestly wish I had gotten that instead of my dish. My vermicelli dish had a meager amount of beef and didn't hold much of any of the flavor I tried to add. Perhaps I didn't add enough sauce or seasonings (I don't usually get vermicelli dishes). Still, I think I enjoy the overall experience of eating pho more since I can always easily take a sip of the broth to chase my food down. First time customer, was craving something soup based and came across Pho Ivy. Noticed the outdoor seating and store front. A few tables outside and upon entering, menus are up front. You order and pay first and choose a table to sit and the staff will bring your order to you. Since it's a lovely and sunny day, we had chose to sit outdoors. Finally tried the bun bo hue after so many friends recommending this place!! Definitely did not miss and hit the spot immediately after the first sip, really flavorful broth. So much meat and the noodles weren't too big which I prefer. They were so busy even on a weekday too so that definitely speaks for itself. Phone-in orders are convenient, pay at pickup, wait times not bad on weekends. They open pretty early, at 10AM if you're wanting to beat the lunchtime rush. Lots of tables inside; they don't really have anywhere designated for waiting so either take a table outside or inside if it's free. The marinade for the grilled pork is also on the sweeter side. The peanuts come as whole/halves rather than chopped. Their nuoc cham sauce leans more on the sweet side rather than fishy, and their peanut sauce for the shrimp spring rolls is just okay. read more

I was able to request extra hoisin packets and they actually honored my request which I very much appreciated! The restruant is pretty small and feels cramped especially when full. When seated we didn't get menus or anything until after we asked. They took our order and the food came out. So I have been wanting to try this place and finally got to last night. It's in a little strip mall with a lot of parking. We went for dinner and there were a few tables full but still seating for us. When I went inside I was a little confused. It looked like a order at the counter and then go to your table place. A worked said to pick a table and they will take our order which I was good with. I don't really like the places that you have to wait in line to order then find a table. I started off with the salt and pepper spareribs. It came with onions and peppers mixed in. It was really spicy and my wife couldn't eat them. It was alot. Next we got the fries. Wow what a big portion and they were crispy. liked them but once they got cold they didn't taste the same. good buy. Lastly I got a large B1. The combination. Usually at places the large isn't really that much bigger in stuff they put in it but not here. It was huge with big portion of noodles and other stuff. My wife got a Small B2 and it was much smaller. The broth was nice and so were all the cuts of meat in it. I really enjoyed it. I couldn't even finish my soup. I asked for a container and the server offered me a cup of broth to go home with me. Such great customer service. I have never seen this before. First time trying this pho spot and I have to say quick service, large portions and good prices! I ordered C8 with rice noodles (assorted seafood) and my husband ordered B1 large. Both bowls had a ton of toppings! They're really generous with the meat here! Broth was very flavorful that I did t need to use hoisin and sriracha sauce. We also ordered the salt and pepper calamari. Not the flavor I was expecting, it was tossed with a ton of onion, jalapeño, and green onion. The calamari wasn't very flavorful but it came with sweet chili sauce. It was crispy on the outside but not my favorite. Next time I'll stick with the spring rolls! Both times our group got: chicken pho, beef pho (#8), bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup), and cha gio (fried spring rolls) + cafe sua da - pho tastes OK, seems like they don't use bones overnight to make broth but we have always come later in the day, so maybe their good batch has run out by the night time. - bun bo hue: first time was good, second time was spicy but not so flavorful - best things are the cafe sua da and cha gio Service always tends to be understaffed - not enough waiters/bussers to help service the crowd. Always pleasant enough for how stressed they must be though. Convenient location for being in Elk Grove and better than other stores we've been to before in the area, but think I will be trying other spots next time. The UGLY: - They didn't understand ADA federal regulations. - They didn't want to hear an explanation of ADA rules and just kept looking around the restaurant like they didn't have room. - They clearly had a table where we would have been out of the way and my German Shepherd would not have been in the way. - They were rude. I would not recommend this place for the sheer fact that they do not understand ADA regulations and this is something they should know if they own a restaurant. Decent overall experience with one major downside. We came in on a Sunday with no line and saw an available table that just needed to be cleaned, so we waited. It was not a big deal. It would have been nice though if someone had at least acknowledged us or asked how many were in our party. After a waiter finished cleaning the table, he called us over by just pointing and wiggling his finger. No words and no eye contact. It came off pretty rude, like we were not even customers. I do not expect top tier service, but basic manners go a long way and this felt disrespectful. Honestly I have had more polite interactions at some fast food places. The food was decent. They loved how good the broth tasted (they've never praised a restaurant before!) and it was refreshing and delicious, delicious enough for my elderly father to finish the entire bowl! Food comes out quick, their kitchen is well staffed (gma, mama and maybe dad) and there's usually just 2 yound individuals on the floor/register who attends to the customers. I've never seen this place empty. If you come, and it's full - STAY and Wait! They are very pleasant and attentive, checked in on us often for water. Place is clean, plenty of parking, $tag is a few dollars more expensive but it's Elk Grove so it's expected vs Sacramento. Worth it! There was also a weird booth right in front of the door where people were sitting on the other side and a ton of people standing around it so I was very confused on what was happening as this was my first time here, it looked like you needed a reservation and to be seated. I have anxiety so that made me anxious and went to my car. Decided to come back and ended up ordering finally. There's also nowhere to stand comfortably away from people and wait for your order so I went outside but I don't think they go outside looking for you. As for the food the short ribs were good but very oily and the rice is just regular. The Sprite is also not sprite if you're neurodivergent like me and can tell the difference in sodas, it was most likely Sierra Mist. Not a big deal for some but I hate fake Sprite.
