My brother recently introduced me to Sit lo Saigon in Elk Grove. Most Vietnamese restaurants feature pages and pages of offerings, but not Sit lo. They serve 17 varieties of pho. Their uncomplicated menu lets them focus on making the best pho I've ever had. While their menu is simple, their soups are not. You first taste the richness of the broth that has been simmering for hours. The beef bones, meat, garlic and ginger work together to produce a soup base that will compliment the accompanying ingredients. I opt for their signature pho, the Pho Hanoi, which comes with wok fried ribeye and garlic. You can choose either thin noodle or fresh noodles. We always go with the fresh noodles. Their servings are huge and easily sharable. The soup comes with garnishes such as basil, cilantro, mint, bean sprouts, onions, jalapenos and lime. Some folks like to add hoisin or siracha. I'm a simple gal and only add a few bean sprouts. If the broth is good, it doesn't need anything else. Service is straightforward. You order at the counter, sit down and your order arrives in under 5 minutes. The staff is accustomed to fast pace. There's a self serve water and tea station so you don't have to wait to get refills. While it may seem like there's few interactions with staff, the set up is streamlined for efficiency. This has become a go to spot for us. It's close by and we don't have to deal with the traffic of South Sac especially on the weekends. read more

We stumbled in late because we were craving pho. This places is open late so we thought we give it a try, going in with low expectations but it turns out their pho is sooooo good! The broth was well seasoned and broth was so beefy. I usually will drown my pho with all the condiments but here, I didn't need to do that. You can choose thin or thick fresh rice noodles. The ambience was nice and the place feels clean. Love the self serve drink station. They had cold tea, cold water and room temperature water to choose from. You order as you enter and service was great! I have been raving about this place to all my friends near and from here. We left happy! Another major plus is that their chili oil is actually spicy just how I like it. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area. I thought I had reviewed Sit Lo Saigon when they first opened, but apparently I was mistaken. I appreciate how late they stay open. They've been pretty busy when I've been coming late in the evenings, with a max of just a table or two empty at around 10PM. It's not a huge place, but I didn't feel overly close to the tables next to me. You order at the counter then they tell you a table number. Self-serve water and tea. I recently ordered the #5 Pho Tai, Gau and the #14 Pho Hanoi. There's only one size here. It was more than enough for me. Some of the meat was tough/overcooked in the #5, but overall enjoyed the pho. The #14 was good as well and the meat was flavorful. I'd order both again. Since there aren't any other pho places open late in EG, Sit Lo Saigon has been my go-to. read more

Looking for a good bowl of pho up in Sac and we got some from this spot. Friendly cashier, clean restaurant, and a good size serving. I got the #1 Pho Tai- Rib eye pho- broth had lots of flavor and a good amount of beef... negative was the beef was on the tough and chewy side. Based on the chewiness, I'm not sure I'd get it again. Date night for some Pho, this place is really neat and kind of reminds you of being there. They have a cart at the counter that looks like a street food vendor and the decor was really cool. Kind of fast pace ordering and serving. We got the Oxtail Pho and garlic with ribeye, so much flavor in the garlic pho! The oxtail was nice but could have been braised a bit more. I ordered the #5 brisket and ribeye with thin noodles and it was delicious! The meat was tasty, although the brisket could have been cooked longer it was still edible. The broth was very flavorful and did not taste overly salty or oily. The veggies provided included pickled onions, lots of beansprouts, basil, jalapenos, limes, and ngò gai. The pickled onions complimented the pho well and were not overly strong with a mild flavor. Ordering is at the counter, tables are assigned, and the food is brought to the table. This is the kind of place that you walk up to the counter and place your order then they assign you a seat.Its a very casual ,comfortable restaurant. There were two of us eating so we decided to go with the #3($15.95)which is with just brisket & the #4($15.95) which is brisket and meatballs. After a few minutes of sitting down,they brought our bowls out-I'd say less than 6-7 minutes. My first response was "WOW!!" The sheer size of that bowl is what struck me-it was huge. Then again for $15.95,I think it makes sense. I'm a weirdo when it comes to pho,as I eat mine in a particular way.I drink all the broth before eating any of the noodles or meats or side additions. So after doctoring this bowl up with the sides,onions,bean sprouts,jalapeños,lime,Thai basil and chili oil-I went to town on that broth. I thoroughly enjoyed that broth,It had a rich flavor that truly only comes from a long simmering process-It was very good. After enjoying all that broth,I went after the brisket and noodles, Slurp City for sure!! The noodles were wonderful and the brisket was nicely flavored and textured. I really enjoyed my #3 from Sit Lo Saigon. That being said,after dissecting their menu a bit,I feel like I missed out on some quality items. One of my go-to pho spots in Elk Grove. You order first, then get seated, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. My favorite is the Hanoi pho--it comes with a Chinese fried doughnut on the side. I like that it's loaded with green onions, and the beef is already cooked and comes in generous portions. Since moving to Elk Grove, we have looked at a few places to find our "go-to" pho spot and this place is among the top on our list. I ordered the special pho and bone marrow with broth. I was extremely happy with the portion size of it! Most of the time when I order pho at other places, I finish too quickly. But here, I always leave with a full tummy with left overs to take home as well. The pho broth has a rich, deep flavor and the ingredients taste fresh. And the bone marrow is MASSIVE with a good amount of marrow in it as well as extra meat on the outside. I also love how they have tea as one of the complimentary drink options. I also love a lot of hoisin sauce with my pho but with Sit Lo I put a lot less sometimes even none and the broth is good. I had an excellent experience here! Even though the restaurant was packed, the service was incredibly fast and efficient. The staff worked together like a World Cup championship team--everyone knew their role, communicated well, and kept everything running smoothly despite the crowd. The pho was outstanding. The broth was rich, flavorful, and tasted like it had been simmering for hours. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the meat was tender, and every bite was comforting and delicious. You can definitely tell why this place stays so busy. The atmosphere was lively, and despite the long line of customers, our food came out surprisingly quickly. It's impressive to see a team handle such a busy rush while still providing great service. The only downside is that they require you to pay before you eat, which isn't my favorite system. Menu consists mainly of pho, appetizers, and beverages. We ordered a couple of bowls of pho, one of which was made with fresh noodles... it was quite better than the other bowl made with dried noodles. We thought the broth was good-tasting but average. My son has been raving about this place for months so I decided to finally check it out. This is a place where you walk right up to the register and place your order. The gals behind the register were super friendly and helpful for a first timer. I opted for the #1 pho bowl with ribeye and my husband decided to try the #4 pho bowl with brisket and meatballs and the fresh thicker noodles. The place was plenty busy but there were a few empty tables. Nice and clean inside. One of the workers already had a table ready for us with all the extras already at the table. The extras consist of bean sprouts, Thai basil, cilantro, limes and sliced jalapeños for those who like it spicy. I think our pho was brought out in about 5 minutes, crazy fast! We experimented with the sauces at the table - hoisin was my favorite addition. As for the dish....WOW. The broth was so rich and tasteful and truly tastes like it was cooked for 72 hours as advertised. The meat (ribeye) was tender and so flavorful. The noodles and veggies were very fresh. I ordered the #13 Saigon Special for $17 bucks and it came with meatballs, ribeye, tendon, flank and tripe. It was a fat bowl. it had lots of meat and the broth was very good! I was curious to try Hanoi style pho and saw they specialize here so decided to try it. My friends love this place and I can see why. Interior is nicely decorated and modern looking. You first order at the cashier and then they tell you the table to sit at. We ordered the Oxtail pho ($19.50) and the Hanoi Pho ($18.95). Service was super fast. They came out instantly with the food. They had onions, bean spouts and vegetables on the side. The biggest difference between regular southern Vietnamese pho and Hanoi (Northern Vietnamese pho) is the broth. Hanoi style has a more clear and clean broth with different cut of meat. It also has flat noodles. The Chinese donut on the side was also a nice touch. The oxtail was very delicious as well. Very rich in flavor and tasty oxtail bones. I like how big the bowls were. They do have patio seating and since it was a nice night, we asked to sit outside. You order at the counter and they will seat you, rather than you having to find a table. The line wasn't too bad and once seated, food comes out pretty fast. The staff was working hard to bring out food, bus tables, and get customer requests. Our table did not have any Sriracha or hoisin sauce so I kindly asked one of the workers zooming by and he brought a big bottle of Sriracha but forgot about the hoisin sauce. No biggie because the broth didn't really need it. We did ask for more vegetable toppings and they brought that out right away. I ordered the #17 "premium pho," with the oxtail, short rib, and tendon (normally $19.50). I really enjoyed the broth, just wish the temperature was a little hotter. I needed more broth and less noodles. I was disappointed with the meat. The one tiny oxtail I found was not tender at all and the big bone of short rib had a lot of meat, but wasn't tender either. And actually, my first bite of the rib, the meat was cold! I ended up giving the big bone with all that meat on it to my dog, so she was loving it. One word. WOW. When we first walked in, we were greeted by staff and noticed the surplus of customers in the restaurant on a random Monday night at 9:30-10pm. A line soon followed behind us as we ordered. The person at reg was extremely kind and informative! We finally ordered and went to the water station. There's a small selection of pho and drinks available. There's no rice plates -- only pho. You pay at the counter and they assign you a table for seating. Big fan that this restaurant is open for those late night pho cravings. They were having a deal for I believe 20% off if you came at a certain time and we were a couple minutes early and didn't catch the deal. I believe it was due to a POS particularity but no biggie. The restaurant is casual and after ordering you get a number and seat yourself. There's water available and spoons/chopsticks/etc. are available at your table. We got the #1 and #7 with thin noodles and my partner got a Thai Tea. The pho was flavorful and delicious, served very hot and a large portion with many noodles. I do believe they're all one size and it's a good quantity for the pay. A nice touch that I loved and haven't experienced eating at other pho restaurants is the serving of raw onion along with the veggies. The meat though, I like my traditional meat to be on the side, raw so that I can dip it in the boiling hot soup. This was a more Americanized version of a traditional soup and needs a little more flavor, but that's because I'm used to very traditional Vietnamese style. Pick what you would like, pay and then are assigned a table and your offer is brought to you. There is a complimentary water/tea bar. Your assigned table will already have the side fixings that would normally go into your soup. As I started eating my meal, the foot traffic started to pick up with more people arriving. My meal plus a Thai tea ran me around the $20 mark. My table area on the floor could have been cleaned at bit better as there was still evidence of food on the ground. Finally got to try this place out after hearing about it for so long! I didn't know they had an Elk Grove location because I was more familiar with their Davis location. I didn't realize it until they brought my bowl of pho to the table but the menu didn't have options of pho bowl sizes to choose from because when my pho bowl got brought to my table, the bowl was huuuuge! Which I didn't mind because I was starving and I was actually able to finish all my pho. I can't express how good their pho broth was. I liked how the broth didn't taste too salty and it was overpowering. I also appreciated the generous portion and balance of the amount of noodles to protein that the bowl had in it. The Hanoi pho comes with a side of Chinese donuts, I haven't ate pho without them since trying it this way lol. Pho broth is solid and although it is on the pricier side for a "quick pho spot", I'd argue their portions (esp meat) are worth the price. But this is my favorite pho spot in Sacramento because they serve fresh noodles and I love the thickness of it. Food: (3.5/5) Hanoi Pho ($16.95 + $1.50 for Fresh Noodles) - The pho was good. The broth had a strong beef and pho flavor, and it was also very clear. There was a huge portion of noodles which was great given its high price point. The Hanoi Pho also comes with donut sticks which is an added bonus that other bowls do not have. However, the beef was on the tougher side and the broth had a strong garlicky flavor which took away from the traditional broth flavor. I would recommend the Saigon Pho for anyone who prefers a more traditional pho flavor profile. Service & Ambiance: (3/5) The service was decent. They have you order and pay for your food first thing when you walk into the restaurant rather than the traditional pay after you finish your meal. From there you will have to get your own water (towards the back right) and seat yourself wherever there is an available table. I made a last-minute detour to Elk Grove's Sit Lo Saigon Vietnamese Noodle House, and I'm so glad I did. I was actually headed to Journey to the Dumpling, but suddenly got a craving for comforting, made-from-scratch food--and pho was calling my name. To my surprise and delight, they had my all-time favorite: short rib pho, which is nearly impossible to find in the Sacramento area! Usually, I have to drive all the way to San Francisco or wait for A New York trip to get for pho with short rib, but not anymore--Sit Lo Saigon pho had delivers, and it's right in Elk Grove!rich and flavorful broth perfectly topped with green onions a side od white onions and the usual fresh fixings--mung bean sprouts, jalapeños, lime, and Thai basil. They served the short rib bone-in, just like the spots in SF. I was only a few bites in when I decided I'm coming back next week--and bringing a friend who appreciates a good bowl of pho as much as I do. It's a casual, walk-up counter spot with lightning-fast service and friendly staff. This might be the best authentic Vietnamese place in town. The food was so savory and flavorful. The portion size was fairly large compared to some of the other places in Elk Grove. I would say the fresh noodles are way better than the dried ones so ask before ordering. Sometimes they are out of the fresh ones. The meat was very tender. Not dry and chewy like some of the other spots. Service is fairly standard for this type of place, where you order at the front and then find your own spot to eat. Their Hanoi style pho is my go to the broth is so flavorful and comforting, and I really appreciate all the extra garnishes like fresh green onions and the soft, fresh noodles.
