A friend and I were craving Pakistani food and decided to give this place a try. We walked in and the host greeted us with a warm welcome and promptly made sure we were seated. The place was clean and spotless. We were stopping by in the afternoon for lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty. Once seated, we were served with fresh red onions and cucumbers with two chutneys and given the menu. We ordered the Chicken Seekh Kabob, Kashmir Karahi Chicken, Garlic Naan Bread, and Puri Paratha. Our food came in after some time (about 20 minutes), and our waiter apologized. However, after tasting the food it was clear that everything was made fresh and with quality ingredients. The Kashmir Karahi Chicken was more creamier than I would have preferred for South Asian cuisine, but still very delicious. The chicken seekh kabob was juicy, tender and perfectly marinated while the puri paratha practically melted in my mouth. The Garlic Naan was soft and every bite had that buttery garlic flavor. The service was also great. Our waiter looked happy to be serving us and was very enthusiastic. He checked on us periodically to fill up water glasses and make sure we were satisfied with the food. We asked for more chutney to eat with our meal and he was happy to fulfill our request. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was very enjoyable and I definitely will be coming back to try other dishes! read more

Bundoo Khan has become my must-stop place anytime I'm in the area (which is atleast once a month). After going there over 4-5 times, I can say each time the food has always pleased me. My bf and I always end up getting the BK Platter that has yummy chicken, beef and other grilled items that come with 2 naan or 2 parathas. I usually like the parathas. Usually we grab a snack from Tahoora before getting a meal, so the food is always enough. The meats are perfectly seasoned, and my favorite one has to be the bihari kebab and whole chicken. Meats are tender, juicy and perfect. Last time we also got 1/2 order of the smoked chicken, that was delicious. I haven't sampled the rice dishes or the burgers, but A+ for the grilled items. First place on Devon I was excited to come back to the minute I walked out. Aside from Ghareeb Nawaz, i found the majority of options on Devon to be sort of boring and not worth a second trip. Because of this, I was reluctant to give this place a shot. Besides that, I thought it was just another place using the Bundoo Khan name to market customers. I had the Kashmiri chicken Karahi. And this stuff was BOMB. Paired with puri paratha. I will be going back very soon. They could have given us better parts of the chicken though, I'd say only 40 percent was actual meat on bone. I am surprised not one of the reviews mentions the portion size, I thought they were small, actually the four of us who came together thought the portions were small. However, food was delicious and you can think of it as if you're paying for QUALITY and not quantity. But usually on Devon, I expect to get both. If this was in suburbs, I would have no complaints. My friend raves about this place and it's his absolute favorite, this is his go-to place on devon. We each got something different off the grill menu and we all enjoyed it. You can tell the food is freshly made and they pride themselves for that. I would def say there grill items are one of the better tasting ones on devon. There burgers/wraps are just average. After this place popped up on my Yelp feed and after realizing I had not been to Devon in several years, I was excited to venture out to Little India recently to try this restaurant. On Devon Avenue, this is definitely one of the nice restaurants, with great customer service and a very clean, well managed interior. We came in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, and the place was moderately busy. We were promptly seated by an extremely friendly and welcoming waiter. If there's one thing about this place that stood out the most I'd have to say it's the hospitality of the staff here, which stands out in contrast to the often unwelcoming attitudes you see from staff at neighboring stores/restaurants. We ended up ordering a half order of the Kashmir Karahi Chicken, Chicken Seekh Kabob, and one each of Garlic Naan and puri paratha. The food came out promptly, within about 15-20 minutes. The Chicken Seekh Kabob was delicious! It was very well seasoned, and was a great appetizer. I also really liked the two sauces they have (a yogurt based white one, and a red spicier one). The Kashmir Karahi chicken was solid and flavorful, and very creamy. We were expecting something a bit spicier, so were a bit let down with this dish, although it was still pretty good (just not mind-blowing). The Garlic Naan was great, and the puri paratha is also something I'd recommend as a side for any curry items/main orders you order. I so badly want to give this place 5 stars, but I can't at the moment. Next time I want to try the smoked Karachi chicken, which looks to be more of a classic curry based, spicier dish than the Kashmir Karahi chicken. Went for the first time last week with two of my Pakistani friends. They always told me I need to come here and eat real Pakistani food with them, so I did. Stopped here on a 5 hour layover in chicago. Pretty good food here. But the place does not even offer chicken tikka masala (crack), which is a staple at every pakistani restaurant. Their mixed grill was pretty skimpy for $29. The appetizers, wings and samosas, were very basic also. I would say the chicken and goat karahi were winners. Naan was very crispy and the puri was tasty also. Not too greasy. Overall I expected a bit more given the name holds weight across multiple continents. I ordered the Highway Chicken Karahi, requested that they use as little oil as possible. It came sitting in half an inch of oil. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. For me, it wasn't edible. Wasn't a happy customer. So why four stars and not one? I told the owner I wasn't happy and why. He insisted that I not pay and explained to me that Karahi is always deep fried. It might be helpful to have that on the menu. I will return to try their BBQ meat items, they looked much more appetizing. I was not impressed with the crispy zinger at all. It was a regular chicken sandwich lacking the crisp n crust needed to make this a zinger. So why the five stars you ask? It was one of the best BBQ in the country. Karachi style bihari kabobs, paratha and chicken tikka. I was glad to skip sabri for a change and try bundoo. I will be back next time I'm in the area. Ps. When I say one of the most delicious biryani Ive ever had, I mean it. The rice was so fragrant it was addictive, hints of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and bay leaves hit in every bite. I'll start by acknowledging that we think Bundoo Khan is perhaps the best Desi BBQ around and we go here quite often. However, our experience a few days ago was truly horrible. All of the food tasted completely bland as if it had neither known or been introduced to the joys of salt. Our combo did not have a paratha or naan with it like it was supposed to. Feed me your Kashmiri Karahi for the rest of my life and I'll happily oblige! I've tried plenty from the menu but I usually come here for this one dish and it has changed my Devon experience forever. (Coming from India I'm yet to find a place on this street that does justice to my cuisine.) Note- Half order of all karahi options are more than sufficient for two/three people but I usually get the Full just for myself cz ladies you would want to take this home. The meat is melting off the bone here, delicious and freshly made (hence be ready to wait at least 20-30 min before your food arrives). The vessel in which your food arrives- karahi as we call it is pretty interesting as well, very rustic! - As a humble suggestion I think this place can work on its service a bit. Last night my food arrived but I had no plates on my table, asked the server who apologized and was mannerly. A bit of a wait as well in placing the order during a non rush hour. - I remember dining at his place last month when they were giving out complimentary Roofaza, pakoras and dates to all. Maybe it was because of an event that night but I wish this tradition continues. Very rude customer service. First the lady kept pestering us to order and I asked for a few minutes. After we were ready, she didn't come check up on the order for 35 minutes. The food was good but if we just wanted food we could have taken out. Then the asked us to hurry up and leave so that they can give our table. Didn't even ask us for dessert. Ordered chicken Karahi and Kabab platter. Karahi was full of oil (chicken was floating in oil) and was inedible. We also got wrong recommendation for the quantity of food by the server. She pushed us to get a kebab platter instead of tikka. We felt platter + Karahi was a lot for 2 individuals. Chicken tikka in the kebab platter was burnt, they lucky changed it later. From reviews I learned that the name "Bundoo Khan" refers to a household name which is a big deal in the restaurant biz back in Pakistan. The original, known for its mastery with kababs and grilled meats. I'm unsure whether there is any correlation in ownership or shared recipes. I've been here twice and tried to carry out more than that. Their hours don't mesh with mine. They usually open at 4pm and go till about 11 p. Check their website or storefront for more details. They tend to close on the dot, so, even if you try placing an order a quarter before closing, I doubt they'll take it. Food preparation takes time and it is all made fresh. For takeout, they have usually quoted a 40 minute wait. Walk in there if you get a chance. I am sure, sure, that the smells alone would tantalize your taste buds. Doesn't matter what day of the week it is, they tend to have a packed house daily. On weekends it can be even busier with folks traveling from out of town for a taste. On my first visit. Based on their look, decor, great smells; I inquired with the owner whether they handled private parties. I am searching for a spot for a party later this year. Unfortunately the owner declined saying they tried that once. Although they had signage, voicemails, etc indicating a private party, walk-in customers were irritated and leaving comments for management. Based on that experience, they have decided to trump walk-in customers over private parties. (Pretty crazy if you think about it, larger restaurants on Devon would surely grab at the chance to host a private gig. More $$$. #toeachtheirown) My favorites based on reviews: Zinger burger (Fried chicken burger with special sauce, chopped lettuce and tomato. Comes with fries.) Everything is made in house including their sauces, they stand by this. And It is good. If you order your wings or tenders spicy, get ready to sweat. Went their on a Ramadan Saturday Night just around the Iftar time so it was pretty busy! But the wait was worth it. We loved the Goat Chops, Chicken Seekh Kabab and the Smoked Karahi Chicken! Chicken Biryani would be 4/5, but rest of the items were too good. Especially the tandoor items are the best and the quantity on Smoked Karahi was insane! Four of us ate it and still got some to-go. The owner/manager was very good at communication (brief funny talks) and making sure everything is going well. All in all a good experience, already recommended this place to couple of my friends as it's one of the few good tasting places left on Devon I believe. read more

This is some amazing Pakistani food. I live in New York but I crave this all the time. When in Chicago this is a must try. The Kashmiri kadhai was amazeballs. And the naan and the paratta was so soft and delicious. Definitely worth the wait and money. Oh yeah the wait is a little crazy. We went there 2 times already. Tonight we had a very bad experience- we ordered seek kabab from the grilled items menu and were presented some seekh apparently in curry. The waiter argued that this is seekh fry. Upon asking why is it listed in the grilled items section when it is a curry - he said no it is not listed in thy section; I opened the menu and showed it to him as such. He was like "o okay I am new I didn't realize that" so I asked him to verify if this was intact the right order. He then stated that he has sent MANY of these orders and it is correct (the same guy who said he is new and didn't know this was a grilled item section menu item). He took that back and we asked for a Bihari kabab. He said 20 mins and so we waited. We waited over 40 mins for it - then asked him if it was closed to getting ready. He checked and told us no it will be longer and gave us our bill. Okay. We had some leftover Nihari so we asked for boxes - the girl came over and said she will get it. We waiting 20 mins and she did not get it. We had to leave then. Food was wrong. Service was wrong. And it wasn't like they were short handed - there were literally more waiters than tables yet the kind of service we received really was off putting. Hope they realize this was not right at all! Unfortunately their ambiance (and food usually) is really nice and so I want to go back but not if they don't fix their problems with customer service. read more

We ate there yesterday and ordered highway goat leg karahi and chicken tikka. We also wanted biryani but our waiter said they were out. Then another waiter that was delivering our food mentioned that they do have biryani. Not sure why the first waiter was lying to us. Then the next day we ordered the same karahi again to-go, drove from 30 miles away and instead received chicken karahi. When I called the restaurant Kamran said he can refund $1 for the difference in price of chicken. What am I supposed to do with a $1 refund for a mistake the restaurant made with my order. Was a returning customer so you would think at least that would be appreciated and a refund for the price of the karahi would be made. Update: I came back after covid restrictions Even in comparison to the best food I have in pakistan, this competes with that. It's amazing. I'm a native New Yorker and we are spoiled with amazing desi food but this blows it all out of the park. When my family members came from ny I knew I had to take them here bc this is my favorite Pakistani restauraunt in Illinois. We had the Kashmiri karahi, highway karahi in both chicken and goat leg, puuris, garlic naan, lassi, chicken tikka( always get the bone in!) Strips, samosas. They were all stunned by how good the food is. I know naan is popular but I highly reccommend getting some puris to eat the karahi with, it's a great combination! The white karahi was all of our favorites. I assumed it would just taste like butter chicken due to the cream in it but no, it was completely different spices than the highway karahi, and it was amazing. The restauraunt is very clean. While there were issues of not getting the food for over 45 mins and other tables who arrived after us getting their food 30 mins before we got any, they handled it really well and I'm hoping this was a one time issue.
