I used to enjoy coming in here to get my nails done until my last pedicure. Tina kept pushing for me to get my hands done but like I told her I already had them done. She kept pushing for my cuticles to get cut because they were dry. I said I my hands are dry I don't really need them. She pushed to start doing them and never told me what I was getting charged for this. Next thing you know I'm getting charged $30 for a pedicure and technically $2 away from a manicure. So I paid thinking maybe I'm reading this wrong. Asked again so you charged me $10 for cutting my cuticles that I didn't even ask to get done. Tina replied yes that's what I was told to charge. Let's be real here I did not get my nails done, fixed or shaped. I have a no chip done and she didn't do anything but cut my cuticles that I didn't ask for. This place is a rip off. I will never come back here again. I went back and asked to speak to the owner and then they claimed that Tina said she said I got my nails done which I didn't. Clearly she was trying to blame Tina for that charge when I'm guessing she is the manager that told her to charge me that amount. Got my $10 and still not going back. That was it for me. read more

I really like this lovely salon in Skokie. It is spotlessly clean, and the technicians are friendly and efficient. And I should mention the mani-pedi is (at least when I've gone) consistently $30, quite a value for the area, where the typical mani-pedi price is $40+, unless you're on a "special" day. I found both the manis and the pedis to be high-quality and lasting - the manis get me through a week, which is great. They have mostly OPI and Essie colors, with a few China Glaze. My only suggestion is that they could feature the latest colors more prominently. I do pay attention to the seasonal releases, and while they may have them on the shelf, they aren't pulled out for easy access. read more

We had an appointment today for five people to get our nails done at 11 for a wedding. When we got there we were told they didn't have enough room for all of us. After 45 min they still don't have room for two of our guests. They said it would be another 15 min. They had to leave before they got their nails done. I went here with a group of four girls and they were able to fit us in which was lovely. But I decided to get a full set acrylic and the job they did was very unfortunate. My nails turned out lumpy and uneven and the nail polish was done messily. Also if you are a regular to getting acrylics, she didn't ask what shape for the nails and the process was done differently than normal. The lady who done my nails rushed the process and didn't pay that much attention. This is my third time coming here and every time I am disappointed with the job that was done. The salon is decorated beautifully and is a relaxing place to be after I get off work. My daughter and her friends liked Tangs soI thought that I would give it a try. The first time I had a good experience. The technician didn't speak much, but she took her time and gave a high quality mani/pedi. The second time I went I was given an inexperience technician. She was very slow and she was not thorough. Another technician leaned over to help her when I said "ouch" and asked her to stop doing an area on my big toe. The other worker was trying to help her, but then her client started to get mad, which is understandable. There was also a mix-up with the polish color; another technician who seated me took the 2 bottles of coral polish that I had chosen and gave them to my technician, I thought. When my technician started to polish my toenails she didn't ask me which bottle I preferred, so I thought that she just picked the best color that matched the dress that I had brought in. When it came time for my fingernails, I said that I did not want that same color because it looked too orange, and then I realized it was orange! The technician used a totally different polish. She offered to re-do the polish on my toes, but Van (?), who said that she was the store manager refused to let her. She said that I would have to pay an additional $10. I said that I would just remove the polish myself, but Van took it off of my toes. (I bought my own bottle of polish and did them myself, and that is when I could really see the poor quality of the pedicure.) The inexperienced technician started to do my hands, but then Van took over. She re-did the cuticles and I told her that the other person had just done them, and then Van said that she is new. Obviously she could see herself that they were not properly done. Even with this negative experience, I would have considered going back. The room is bright and cheery and some of the people there were very friendly as were the other clientele, although when it is busy it feels like the chairs are too close to one another. The reason that I will NOT be going back is because my daughter had a no chip manicure done there and by the very next day 3 nails chipped. She went back and someone said that they would re-do 2 nails, but not 3. They blamed her for the 3rd nail chipping on her because her actual nail chipped. My daughter asked why her nail should chip if she just had them filed, etc. but they stood their ground and refused. The next day more nails started chipping from the original manicure. I didn't know that no-chip could even chip! She did not go in again to ask them to fix it because they were so disrespectful and made her feel small. Neither she nor her friends will be going back to Tangs. In a nutshell, if you have a good manicurist it will be a good experience, but if you have a problem or issue, customer service is poor. read more

I won't be back. I always get no chip manicures and when I get them done the technicians always soak them and then proceed to take them off the polish with a utensil. The lady at this place took my nails off by using her nail to scrap off the color. So unsanitary! She was rude when I ended up changing my mind about getting a no chip to a regular manicure. Painted my nails and left all the nail dust on my hands and told me I could go to the dryer station to dry my nails. Didn't put any lotion on my hands or didn't help me out to turn on the fan. I always go here for no-chips. $25 is a price you can't beat especially for someone like me with very easy to manage nails/lack of intense cuticles. I have left a couple of times with a bit of polish on my skin, but it peels right off without bothering the main polish, so it's not a big deal to me. As I type, I'm going on 17 days with the same no-chip and it looks perfect (no chipping/lifting at edges/etc.) If it weren't for the actual nail naturally growing and making a line at the bottom, you would probably think that I just got them done. Will continue to go back here! I always end up being scheduled as a last appointment for the day, so I really appreciaae these ladies for always fitting me in last minute even though it's so close to closing time. read more

I've been coming here with my mom for 3 years since we moved nearby. She gets her nails done consistently and I tend to go every few months or for a special occasion. I almost always get a no-chip french mani & a regular french pedi. Depending on the tech, and my personal upkeep I'm usually able to keep my nails perfect for 2-4 weeks. (This quality is the only reason I've left any stars at all.) I have been a repeat and loyal customer. I haven't my nails done elsewhere since I started coming here and I tip 20% on my services in cash. Normally, the staff is generally pleasant and not rude. Today I had an appalling experience. I waited 50 minutes for an appointment I had on the books, they let a walk-in go before me, and charged me differently than other times. At which point I noticed they had removed their pricing signs. I've told dozens of people to come here, and I regret that. They do not care about their loyal customers. I called for an appointment yesterday for this morning at 11am. They told me to come in at 10:30am. I showed up at 10:34am to some confusion and being told my appointment was for 11am. I saw they had all spa chairs in use. I wasn't particularly bother and threw on my headphones to wait quietly. While I was waiting someone came up to me to apologize about the wait and asked me how my mom was obviously recognizing me. After some time, I noticed another customer walk in. They waited for a few minutes and were lead to a spa seat. While I was still in the waiting area. This was past my appointment time of "11am". Eventually at 11:20am, I was led to a table for my no-chip mani. I balked at this. I like to have my regular pedi first so I know all my nails are dry when I leave. I got them to do the pedicure first with some prodding, noticing the other customer that arrived after me was mid-way through her service. My pedicure service was good. The technician Tina asked me about my mom and I relaxed. Then the manicure happened. The technician was switched. I have long natural nails that grow fast because of supplements I take. The tech cut them shorter than I would have liked to begin with, but they were at least even. I like my nails to be seen past my finger tips. However, my shortest nail became my longest nail. My fingers feel stubby at the lost of my nails. There was nothing I could do about this. They were cut. I waited for the prep to finish. Stopping her when she hurt my fingertip by filing against it. Proving my nails were much shorter than I prefer. She got to the polish stage. I like a simple white tip, no pink overlay. Normally a simpler, faster process since one step is skipped. She laid an example thickness out for me. It was very thin. I explained I wanted the white tip much thicker. I corrected this three times before giving up. (A big part of the way I'm able to make a manicure last is getting the french tips thick so they don't look grown out in a week.) I also have health issues that lead to noticeable marks under my nails. The thicker white line can help cover this. At the very least, I leave the nail salon without these markings being obvious. This wasn't even done today. The technician asked me if I was okay towards the end of my service. I explained I was frustrated and simply wished to leave after waiting for 45 minutes. She smiled and vaguely said sorry. Didn't say anything else about it or offer to let me speak to the manager. Then it came time to pay. I went to the front with my credit card, and was told $60. (I checked my previous receipts and credit card statements, I've normally been charged $55.) I asked about this. To argument. I was upset at this point paid my bill and immediately left. I now have to wait for my nails to grow out before I can go somewhere else to get them redone. They're technically pretty good, but they were not what I wanted or even what I tried to correct while it was being done. I'm sad that being a good customer did not stop this business from treating me very poorly without any offer of compensation or incentive to return. read more

After reading the reviews, I decided to take my nieces (7 and 12 yrs old) for their first mani/pedi. i didn't find the staff very friendly, nor did I find the service great - just mediocre at best. They dampened my nieces' excitement with their flat affect. One nail tech made comments to her coworker in their native language while working on my niece - which made my niece uncomfortable - very rude and unprofessional! Not impressed at all - there are many other nail salons that offer quality services with better attitudes. They accepted to do mani and pedi for me without an appointment but little did I know that they are going to rush me and rob me from the intended relaxation. Basically they squeezed me in between appointments and they actually did my manicure using one of the armrests while I was getting a pedicure on the chair. The people that work here are the rudest ever. Like no words to describe it. I came in a few times before and the work was okay. It began to get worse. They use the same products (like the slippers and toe separators) on the same people which is gross. The application of the polish is sloppy. The last time I was in here I had an appointment at 6 and came in at 445. I asked if we can move my appointment up (there were two people just sitting there not working) and the lady asked me to wait about 10 minutes and so I did. After 30 minutes I asked for an update and she said they can no longer do my nails just my toes. I told her I wish she would have told me that before I wasted my time waiting. In the middle of the sentence SHE BEGAN SPEAKING TO SOMEONE ELSE BLATANTLY IGNORING ME. This isn't the only time this arrogant woman has given me attitude. The first time I went here, we were the last appointment for the day. I got a mani/pedi and it was all decent, but I definitely felt like we were being rushed. Why do you schedule an appointment that late if you are going to rush it? I decided to give them a second chance and went there yesterday for a manicure (as a relaxing day on my birthday). It was the worst manicure I have ever received. She was very rough with the cuticle pusher so I asked her to be gentler. She eased up a little, but not by much. Then, when she was using the cuticle nippers she pulled my skin on my index finger and my finger started bleeding. I get a timid, "sorry" as she's trying to clean away the blood. At this point, I get very irritated, but still say nothing. She moves on to put lotion on my hand and she takes a tiny drop of it and puts it on the back of my hand (not my fingers or my palms). I look to my right and my one friend is getting lotion up to her elbow. I look to my left and my other friend is getting a hand massage. I get nothing. She puts the hot towel on me for literally two seconds and then uses it to try and clean up the nail that has blood on it. I had to keep correcting her painting my nails because she kept missing the sides. Overall, the most horrible experience and I will never be back. I paid before she painted my nails and I did tip her even though she didn't deserve it. I wish I could take it back. This was supposed to be a very relaxing day, and I spend the hour tense and cranky. Never again. read more

They ask you about the tip which I give tips don't get me wrong but you don't ask someone for a tip that's just wrong. Also make an appointment before going always make an appointment.
