Had a big family weekend and I treated my family and friends to the cuisine at Buon Amici. As always they did not disappoint, as always. All of the food was amazing and the service was amazing. Tip ... Pick out something on the menu and then LISTEN CLOSELY to the specials. If something grabs your attention, go with it. The owner is a great guy and very hands on with a positive vibe that filters to his employees and their service. You will not find better service or food in White Plains. Also, there is parking. Came here tonight with a group and had a great experience. The service was amazing and the food was delicious, although it is pricey. I ordered the chicken piccata with angel hair. It was very good. The pasta was cooked al dente and the chicken was tender and the piccata sauce was delicious. It wasn't too overpowering, which was nice. The waiters were all friendly and helpful. However, my filet came with the incorrect side dishes and was quite overcooked. But they made it right by buying the after dinner drinks. My wife and I had dinner at Buon Amici before our movie. I must say I was impressed the moment we walked through the door. We were greeted and seated immediately by an older gentlemen who was very friendly. Our waiter was Corey who took us through the daily specials and there were so many options. Buon Amici was well-organized that day and could have been easily overwhelmed by the large number of customers that day. We ordered just salads for some, usual pasta dishes, veal, and some specials. The strengths of this traditional looking restaurant are its service, which is professional, and its specials, which are plentiful. You can ignore the perfunctory presentation of menus that accompanies your seating. If you read it at all, it would be to give you something to do if your dinner companion is checking their smart phone. The waiters rattle off a ridiculously long list of specials, from appetizers to salads to main courses. They do NOT tell you the prices, but I'm sure you could ask. My wife and I took the risk. I had the Chicken Valdostana ($24.95) and my wife ordered the coconut crusted branzino ($32.95). Both were excellent, but hers was the star of the meal. We started out with the stuffed artichoke and avocado lobster salad respectively. The artichoke was just okay, and at $14.95 overpriced. The salad was priced the same, but with plenty of lobster meat. It was much better. Drinks, dessert, and Cappuccino were also priced reasonably. Our waiter recommended the cookie sundae, and boy was he right on. I could have eaten one myself, but prudently we split it. On the down side, the bread wasn't hot nor especially fresh. That's about the only negative. The main room was quite noisy, but we were seated in the smaller side room, which was perfect for us. With tax and tip, the bill was $156. That's on the hefty side, though it was a special occasion so who cares, right? But for the more budget-minded, having to ask the price of so many specials would be a little cumbersome. I'd add the fifth star if they could find a way to counteract that problem. An enthusiastic thumbs up from me for Buon Amici, though. read more

I have to start by acknowledging the friendliness of the staff. If not for them, this would be a one star review. The apps came and they were ok. The wine list is decent and the prices are not obscene -that is the two stars. Main course was a crusted fillet mignon with mushrooms and a seafood over black pasta. While the pasta was fresh, all the seafood in the dish tasted like it was cooked a week before. Scalops had the texture of pencil erasers and even the two shrimps in the dish were not edible. The meat dish was just ruined. The meat was cooked to proper temp. the mushrooms were flattened and burned. To completely destroy the dish, they poured some kind of sweet fruit sauce over everything. After two bites of the main course dishes, we sent the $45 meat back and fished out the pasta. The waiter offered to "clean off the sauce" from the meat but the thought of someone washing and re-heating the thing was just too disgusting. Desert was a bothched version of an Italian cheese cake. It was beige and gritty. The restaurant did not take anything off, not even a free soda. If you know decent italian food, do not waste your money on Bon Amici. My 3rd time here and they don't disappoint. The food and service have been consistent. I guess that's why I keep coming back. They always have a long list of specials that are out of this world. I just had their signature salad with shrimp and the shrimp were fresh and juicy. You can tell they are not frozen. Next I ordered the eggplant special and it was so tasty. I have been to rock concerts and sitting in the last row that have been quieter that their dining room. Couple that with tables jammed together, slow service and how they still cant cook a steak (asked for medium and it was bloody in the middle), it is a very bad experience. A hidden gem in plain sight! I have been here a couple of times now, once for lunch and tonight for dinner. The place is rapidly ascending the list as one of my favorites. Before I get too far, the Oysters Rockerfeller are incredible; simply the best I personally have had with the right balance of oyster, cheese, spinach and whatever glorious goodness the chef used to create this magical culinary delight. They only thing better was the service. God forgive me as I did not get the young waiter's name, although he told me the first time. A young twenty-something who recites the list of special appetizers and entrees, no less than 18 combined, from memory and with a flair the makes each sound better than the last. He remained at your beck and call, but never pressured anyone for time. Truly a family-style atmosphere well worth the trip. The veal chop special was cooked perfectly, as was the accompanying broccoli rabe. A sampling of the Chicken Marsala and Spaghetti Bolognese were worth the nibble as well. I heard the Halibut Marechiarra was delightful. Followed up with Tiramisu (magnificent), Lemon Sorbet (sublime, not sublemon) and some Zeppoli (gratis) for good measure. I have been to Buon Amici for many occasions. It has been my boyfriend's family's "Go-To" spot for birthdays, family dinners, and just a good meal. You know when you are going there, you will get great service, a delicious meal, and leave feeling stuffed beyond belief! We always know that our favorite waiter, Nick will be the one at our table, and we can count on great service! When going to Buon Amici, you NEVER order off the menu. The menu has the traditional Italian specialties that you can order at many Italian restaurants, but the Specials of the day are what you order when you come here! They are always different that amazing! The one thing you can always count on is the Burrata! I have an addiction to wedge salads due to the blue cheese and bacon piled on top of them! The one at Buon Amici was just as good as I was hoping. It actually had Gorgonzola crumbles instead of the normal blue cheese crumbles, with blue cheese dressing to add a different flare to this salad. My boyfriend's favorite item on any menu is the Burrata! The burrata at Buon Amici is hands down, his FAVORITE burrata of any restaurant! We always listen to the specials menu, waiting and hoping they will say burrata, and luckily they always do. A trip to Buon Amici without it wouldn't be the same! It is the creamiest burrata there is, and it just melts in your mouth! At this most recent visit, the specials menu had Stuffed Zucchini filled with mixed vegetables. Based on the description, it sounded like a lot of vegetables, but it was absolutely divine. It was so flavorful and was covered in cheese and sauce, almost like a new take on eggplant parmigiana, but it was Zucchini Parmigiana! I wish I could have some now. This is a dish, I definitely may try to tackle in the kitchen myself. This year, soft shell crabs were a new thing for me. After trying them for the first time, I could not have enough. I have mostly had them prepared with Old Bay and grilled, or in a buttery sauce, but never have I had them as good as Buon Amici! There were crusted in a light flour, with almonds, and served with mixed vegetables. The sauce they were in was a white wine sauce that was just so flavorful and light. If I could relive this meal, I totally would! For the meal, we ordered the veal chop, which was flavorful and meaty, that's for sure! We liked the description of two of the dishes from the specials menu, and asked if we could combine them, and Buon Amici was more than willing to accommodate us. We wanted the veal chop from one of the dishes, but wanted it paired with the pappardelle instead of just plain veggies. The pappardelle was supposed to originally be paired with ossobuco, but we really wanted the veal chop instead, and we got what we wanted! :) For dessert, I am a sucker for a warm chocolate lava cake. I ordered the chocolate bomb, which ended up being just that! It was paired with coconut ice cream, which was soooo refreshing and so delicious! Another dessert at the table that was very interesting was pineapple sorbet served inside of a pineapple. Not my favorite, since I am not a pineapple lover, and tend to think its a very sour fruit, but I know that everyone at the table LOVED it! I highly suggest visiting this restaurant if you are in White Plains. It is low key, casual, and very good for groups. It will be a meal to remember, and one to celebrate a special occasion at.
