Always my go to for pizza or a hot sandwich. I visited the Jersey ave location yesterday for the first time since the Grove street location unfortunately burned down. It's really small / cramped and I definitely miss the original restaurant, but the quality of the food is the same. I'll skip any of the new fancy pizza joints any time for a slice here. The hot turkey sandwich with mozz and gravy is my favorite comfort food and always amazing. The cannolis are on point every time. There have actually been two occasions when I've found myself in little Italy, craved a cannoli- and waited til I got back to JC to grab one here instead. My order took over 1 hour and 20 mins to receive. Uber driver made other stops along the way. My chicken roll was cold and served with no marinara. The chicken Cesar salad was just ok. Chicken was over cooked and dry. The lettuce was fresh but very watery. The dressing was good. I don't know I would try them again. Disappointed!! read more

While the food is not bad, the customer service will DEFINITELY cause you to reconsider spending your money with this establishment. I've ordered from here several times, for the most part out of desperation simply because there are not any other wing places that deliver in the area. Each time the same "SASSY" and attitudinal young lady answers the phone and immediately places me on hold. She returns only to rush me through my order, and without fail the order is slightly or COMPLETELY off when it arrives to my home. Needless to say how unacceptable this is especially when you are hungry and have already waited 45 min or more on the delivery. Thinking about calling the manager: Save yourself the time of complaining or calling and expecting any level or resolve, you will be placed on another hold and met with a greater level of attitude. What frustrates me the most is the particular establishment takes for granted one's hard earned money and acts as if they are doing me a favor by allowing me to patronize them. Absolutely terrible I mean terrible delivery service. The driver not only calls after I said specifically not to call but texts and facetimes. He always says my buildings front doors won't open even though they are doors and like every door it opens! Refuses to walk up the stairs and harasses me until I go down. Brutal I ordered a calzone I expected a nice doughy bread filled with mozzarella and ricotta cheese, just like I have gotten in the past from other establishments. Not here---I got a horn shaped tasteless flat bread that had little mozzerarella and no ricotta cheese. One of the several great Italian places in JC. I am hooked on their penne vodka, but the garlic bread! Whoa look out! I'm a garlic lover so this bread is heaven to me. Though I have not tried all of their food, I'm sure it's as great as my usual orders have been. Delivery has always been on time and they have always been friendly. The only thing that has not been consistent is the freshness of their cannolis, sometimes it seems like they just made them ....soooo good. -and then sometimes they are just not as fresh (not stale though)...but when they're fresh they are REALLY GOOD. read more

I came here looking for an Italian sub and decided to try the Capicola, Prosciutto, Sopressata and Sharp Provolone sub. All in all, it was a solid sandwich. My fiancee and I split a medium sub for $8.50 which was more than enough food for the both of us. The provolone was fantastic as it came in large chunks that provided a nice relief from the all of the meat. The service here wasn't anything to write home about but it wasn't horrible either. We dined in and sat down after placing our order and the sub was brought to us about 10 minutes later. My only compliant is that the sub had a bit too much bread to meat ratio, I'd ask them to scoop it out next time. Other than that, flavor and size was fantastic. read more

I order from this place 4 to 5 times a month . After today I will never order again. They sent a small pie not a medium. I sent a message asking to refund the difference. 20 min later I get a call from the checkout girl. She proceeds to imply I am lying about 2" of pizza and like 2.00 different.. the questions from her went on way to long. Hey changed owners in end of 2014. Their service is borderline bAd. Their "sauce " comes from Sysco pre done it seems pizza is chewy and bland Vodka sauce is regar sauce with cream with no care take. I ordered from the place twice before writing this review. My first order was incorrect. I ordered a sandwich that comes with provolone, lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar, etc. What I got was a ton of meat on a hero with nothing else. Last night, I ordered a chx parm hero and it was not good. There was enough mozzarella on the hero for three sandwiches and the bread was white in color and too soft. The thing that really upset me and will be the main reason I do not go back is their use of salt! I ordered a pound of sun dried tomatoes that are inedible due to all the salt. The olives were delicious but the stuffed cherry peppers (stuffing, not provolone and prosciutto) were pretty crappy. Some of them looked different from the others. Some bright and fresh looking, others gray and old with a weird taste. They have an owner/manager who runs their booth at Grove St. Path. I would welcome a response to this post. read more

Their pasta is amazing, seriously the bolognese is great its like there is cheese and cream in the sauce, it tastes unhealthy (which is a good thing if you're in the mood), this isn't where you go for organic locally sourced fancy authentic italian, it's where you go when you want a mouthgasm and you don't care about the consequences, this is where you go to cheat on your diet and love every minute of it. Been a loyal customer for 5 yrs and the way I was spoken to on the phone cured me of any consideration of ever giving them any kind of business again. Ewww! That's exactly what I said to my bf who used to rave about this place. I got delivery once and thought the food was horrible but he ordered again from this place last night and we both agreed that we would never order from this place again. We got an order of fried calamari which looked good but it was so tough and overcooked we could not manage to chew down the food to swallow it. We threw it out... We tried to eat the Italian Hot Dog which was aesthetically unpleasant and of course tasted what it looked like. I had THE most horrible experience catering from this place this past weekend. I went to the store in person 2 weeks before my event to place an order for my daughters christening. Asked about sternos to keep my food warm for my 3 hour party. The day of the event, Buon Appetito calls at 12:15 (while I'm at church) to confirm address. I confirm address and I also confirm my 2pm delivery. 12:45, in the middle of my daughters christening, delivery driver calls to ask why gate is down at the event (Venue didnt open until 2pm). My husband then asks to speak to someone as to why food is being delivered an hour and 15min early. Girl on the phone asks "for someone to deal with him" (my husband) as she looks for answers. As if I wasn't aggrivated enough... delivery driver proceeds to call me 7-10times after church, saying they cant find their way into the venue. Sat for 30 minutes infront of a closed gate when I told him to goto the left of the gate. He parks and asks me if the venue has a cart to transport the food inside. How the hell would I know?! He then proceeds to have MY FAMILY MEMBER help him carry the food in. Here's the kicker.. NO STERNOS. My receipt said "setup". Is putting trays of food on a table "setup"? I call Buon Appetito and they say they'll bring them for $40. Joke right? I don't give them a penny and after a 15min battle on the phone (all during my family party) they send them (and the delivery man has to idea how to use them) so he stands in the middle of my party waiting for someone to help him. This place is the WORST. Never deal with them for any large party or for anything for that matter. The hero platter I ordered was cold. What a waste of $500. I'd never order from here again mainly because of how rude staff is. I had 2 incidents with them, one time I was hung up on by the girl that answered the phone after having an issue being overcharged and the second arguing with the manager over my order that was wrong. Apparently chicken parm and baked ziti are made the same. I explained to the guy what I received and he was telling me I was wrong, while I'm staring at it. I used to come to Jersey City all the time and when I did, I begged for my girlfriend to order some Buon. Their marinara sauce is perfection, it reminds me of home cooked gravy from Brooklyn. Their pasta is cooked to perfection. The delivery drivers have always been very kind and on time. I really can't say one negative thing about this place. My go-to for ordering pizza in. It's nice to have a classic Jersey style pizza place mixed in with so many of the brick oven/neopolitan pizza places in the area. Will not be ordering from here again! Ordered garlic knots which came with no marinara sauce. Their pasta with vodka sauce did taste good. I also ordered a chicken cesar salad and it arrived with NO DRESSING. Waited an hour to have my food delivered and it was extremely upsetting that something so necessary for a salad was missing. The person I spoke to over the phone didn't even bother to apologize as she kept saying it should be in the bag and it obviously wasn't!!! It took them AN HOUR to bring them my dressing. I ordered (online) the Italian chicken salad and french fries (gotta balance out the good). It arrived earlier than estimated and was delivered by a lovely older gentleman. The french fries were crispy and yummy. The salad was HUGE -- lots of fresh vegetables and a TON of chicken. I was ready to dig in: I took a bite and...wasn't too disappointed that the chicken was dry, but that thing was SAL! TY! I'm talking Kids In The Hall "salty ham" skit come to life. I actually tried to rinse off the chicken -- scrubbed, even -- but that salt was IN THERE. The chicken was inedible. They must've marinated it in the Dead Sea. What a shame, AND a waste.
