Great place for breakfast and plus point is they open early. The place decorating is very cute and staffs are friendly. We got the skillet breakfast and it's very good. Chicken and sticky rice also very yummy and the banh mi is great. The only thing is the large banh mi still not enough for my husband.
We wanted to try something new. Friend suggested Buon Me Cafe. The menu was big... plenty of options from rice, noodles to baguettes. It wasn't too busy on a Friday night and was quickly seated. Restaurant is rustic with wooden chairs, tables and couches. Mural and big display on the walls. We started with mixed rice paper salad. Instead of vegetables, it's cut up rice paper with mango, nuts, quail eggs and chilies. It was different and we liked it. Great way to start a meal. We tried the sizzling filet mignon pot. It had sunny side egg, pate, sausage, filet mignon, cheese and other stuff. Served with a baguette that you can dip on the sauce. It was delicious.... Might be too heavy for others and can be shared. Meat was tender and juicy. What a combo! Would try the ribeye version next time. We ordered some desserts to close out our meal. First, we had the avocado cream. I suggest mixing the two cry cream with the avocado cream. I was ok with it. We also ordered the sweet dessert. It came with lychee, Pandan, and seedy drink. Great way to end the evening. Staff was very efficient. Came up with an iPad to take your orders. To pay, you go to the counter similar to other Vietnamese places.
Got #8 bap xao the grilled corn dish and #17 the Bo Bia popiah rolls a set of 3 spring rolls. I got to go and rolls were wrapped nicely to prevent sticking and drying out. The meat and filling was great and also came with a generous amount and delicious dipping sauce! The corn is so good it has a great bite to it and has amazing flavor I love this Vietnamese corn dish so much!!! Topped with fried bits of onions or shallots it is an ultimate combo of savory goodness!!
Parking: Large free parking lot that is usually super packed during the day on the weekend. Quite empty and easy at night. Interior: Large interior with plenty of seating for all group sizes. A lot of viet decor and pretty cool vibes. Wait Time: 5-10min for drinks. Seated Immediately and not packed at all with most tables empty after dinner. Items Order: 8/10 35a. Durian (Foam) Coconut Smoothie $8 - This was actually a coconut smoothie so it was quite heavy in coconut flavor which is good if you like that. I was expecting more durian but it was only in the foam which was a bit lighter when mixed in with the smoothie. Still a creamy and yummy drink. 6/10 7a. Bac Xiu/Milk Coffee $7 - Coffee flavor was WEAK. Sweetness was low and not that creamy. Closer to the watery side.
So yummy!! Haven't expanded my palette when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine but I decided to here and was so impressed! - Du Thu Loai Cuon (Spring rolls): came w/ two versions & 3 different sauces. So refreshing and a great palette cleanser. - Banh Mi Chai Bo Wagyu Steak: so flavorful and rich and paired insanely well with their banh mi. The steak was nice a juicy + fatty. Favorite dish we ordered - Xoi Man Thap Cam: got this with purple sticky rice which was sweet. The proteins it came with were all savory and just so texturally pleasant and the sweet and salty flavors paired perfectly. - Tuy Bo Nuong + Garlic Noodle: Bone marrow was absolutely delicious, but the garlic noodles were unfortunately stiff and dry. Overall, very shareable spot offering delicious and authentic Vietnamese dishes! Super packed on a Sunday morning with what looks like tons of regulars. The inside was very spacious and decorated nicely. I will be back!
Buon Me Cafe is a hidden gem for Vietnamese comfort food. We ordered various dishes, a few stood out the most. The Hu Tieu Mi Bo Kho stole the show with it's deeply aromatic broth, fork-tender beef, and the perfect noodle combination to soak up every drop. The Bun Cha delivered smoky, caramelized pork balanced by fresh herbs and a bright, tangy nuoc mam. And the Bo Ne arrived sizzling, filling the table with buttery, savory aromas. This dish definitely pairs best with their crusty bread to mop up every last bite. Check out this spot for viet food that hits the spot that leaves you full & comforting.
I haven't tried anything here that I didn't like! I come here with friends and family all the time, it's our go to when we want a variety of Viet dishes & we just want to hang out to chat as well. They have both common Vietnamese dishes and street food that you can only find in the streets of Vietnam. + Their drink selection is top tier. It's like a café and traditional restaurant all in one here with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a super clean environment and all around has the vibes like back in Vietnam. The workers are nice and provide quick and pleasant service. I've had their bo kho (a bit on the thicker side but still tasty), hu tieu (dry or also with soup - both are delicious), bo luc lac (super tender beef), banh mi chao (super tender meat with a tasty sauce that pairs well with the crispy bread), nem nuong cuon (just like the famous one in SoCal!), banh trang tron (so good i love the toppings and how the sauce is mixed in perfectly well without compromising the texture), this one chicken rice plate with mung bean sticky rice (a bit on the sweet side but still good), and the spicy noodle soup (i think this is their take on korean army stew, it's not too spicy and it's good). There may have been more dishes that I've tried but these are the highlights!! As for drinks, you really can't go wrong with their blended yogurt (i love the peach or mango or passion fruit one), egg coffee, and matcha drinks. In terms of price, it is a bit more expensive than other restaurants serving similar dishes. BUT, I think it's worth it because you can't find all the same dishes in the same place, they have a huge variety here and they do it all so well. The dishes are tasty, the quality of the ingredients is fantastic and the overall experience here is not one to miss. I'd highly recommend everyone check this place out!
Quite possibly the best Vietnamese restaurant in San Jose, right in the heart of Little Saigon! Everything here is delicious and the service is great. Do not skip the bone marrow with garlic noodles. The Bò Né is also incredible and comes out sizzling and full of flavor. Pair it with one of their coffee or/and smoothie drinks and you are set. I will definitely be back!
This is my second time dining at Buôn Mê Cafe this year and it's quickly becoming my favorite restaurant in the Grand Century plaza! The variety of dishes on the menu is huge, and they are most known for their Northern style dishes like bún đậu mắm tôm and bún chả Hà Nội. Both times we've been here, we've ordered bún chả Hà Nội and nem cua bể: absolutely delicious! The chả cá là vọng was a new dish for me and the lightly fried fish with heaping piles of dill was a great combo. You also can't go wrong with their sizzling plates: they come with fresh bánh mì! Not to mention, their drink menu is quite extensive and almost every table ordered some type of drink. We couldn't help but order an avocado smoothie, but need to try other drinks as well! Service was blunt but extremely fast, as most Vietnamese restaurants are. The ambiance of the cafe was lively with loud music playing overhead and lots of guests engaged in conversation, but overall a good place to have a meal as seats are almost always filled, but turnaround time is fast.
Aesthetically, this is one of the nicer Vietnamese restaurants that is also extremely clean. They have a very big TV outside (projector) and some more TV on the left side of the reustraunt but not the right side. So you will have people on the right side peeking often trying to watch the game. Salted coffee: 3/5, lots of ice and too much cream Shaking beef with macaroni: 2/5, zero flavor and bland as heck, no veggies included Bun thit nuong: 4/5 Banh Mi Chao: 4/5
We were visiting the Bay and it was our first time being here after Paloma Cafe closed and this place replaced it! GETTING HERE AND PARKING: We went on a weekday afternoon, so not as bad as Grand Century gets on a weekend of course .. you may need to do some walking if you get here during peak hours. WHAT WE ORDERED: Wagyu Steak - Bánh Mì Chảo Bò Fried Sticky Rice with Roasted Chicken / Xôi Chiên Gà Quay THE FOOD: The banh mi chao was pretty good - the steak was very juicy and tender, and a perfect mix of toppings throughout the dish. I wouldn't say anything about it blew my mind per se, but very delicious. The fried sticky rice though, phenomenal!! The rice was sweeter than most places, which made it pretty unique. The chicken was crispy and juicy. SERVICE: Pretty good. Food didn't take too too long on a weekday and servers were friendly and helpful with questions. VIBES: Great for eating with family. Variety of different table options. Not sure how packed this place gets on the weekend though. BOTTOM LINE: Good option for a lunch when you're visiting Grand Century!

A delicious spot if you're a coffee lover or want authentic Vietnamese food! The portions are very generous here and are filled with lots of flavor. While they are known for their drink specialties, don't be shy about trying the food! I was surprised to see some unique dishes I didn't see on other Vietnamese restaurant menus like balut and a variety of spring rolls. I have officially found my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Vietnam Town! Tried it out and honestly ended up disappointed Vibe: 4/10 The store itself is clean and cute but when you first walk in, they kinda just stare until you say something... like Umm hi? Service: 5/10 They're kinda like... mean??? I don't know the word. They don't really greet you, and it feels like they're kinda annoyed you're even there. And I had to wait a little bit long to order :( even though there was only one other table . Food: 5/10 Seeing how it looks made me really excited and have really high hopes, but I ended up disappointed. We ordered: - Avocado Smoothie: basically tasteless, there was the smallest hint of avacado if you tried hard enough to imagine it, not even sweet :,( - Banh Bot Chien (Fried Rice Flour Cake) These are my #1 thing to eat, I love love me some Bot Chien, but it was honestly so disappointing here. It was soft/Soggy (usually it's supposed to have a little crispiness to it) -Chicken Cartilage: you can't go wrong with this. Literally just chicken cartilage deep fried, pretty good - Fried Sticky Rice w/ Roasted chicken: I honestly think this saved tge meal for me. The chicken was a little on the dryer side but the Sticky rice was crispy and soft :))) and the sauce was so good!!! Overall: 4/10 A pretty nice place to come and chill with a group of people, and certain food items I'm pretty sure are good! Hopefully we came on a bad day. Service definitely needs more work, but overall, I'd definitely come back to see if I can try something else on the menu! read more

Nice ambiance, chill vibe. Menus has a lot of options which suitables for big group. However, the service is no good. Very slow and not friendly and not welcoming guests at all. Table missing a lot of things, no water, no utensil, no condiments, no refill. Table is wet by water rings from previous tables and 2 waiters come take order but not one clean it up. Sugarcane juice taste old! But salted coffee is good. Fried chicken is ok. Chicken balut is ok but the sauce is too sour. read more

The vintage decor makes this place feel extra cozy - almost like an escape from Grand Century Mall/San Jose. Service was good. Some of the best Vietnamese food in the Grand Century Plaza. This spot has great food and drink options, and everything I tried was excellent. This cafe is located at the front of plaza facing Story Rd. The Bánh Mì Chảo Bò Ribeye Xào is honestly one of the best Vietnamese dishes I've had in a while. Super flavorful and great with the baguette that you can soak up the all sauce with. I will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes. The service was quick and everything was brought out nicely cooked. The space is roomy and comfortable, and there's plenty of parking. If you're looking for great Vietnamese food beyond the usual pho and bánh mì, definitely give this place a try. read more
Tried the Shaking Beef with red rice, Roeasted Chicken with Sticky Rice, Hu Tieu with Egg Noodles and Assorted Spring Roll sampler. The Shaking Beef was really good. Grilled juicy chunks of tender beef. The sauce was yummy too; sweet and infused with bell pepper flavor. The red rice definitely had tomato flavor. The Roasted Chicken looked like it was actually fried. Crispy skin on the two pieces of dark meat chicken. Good by itself but even better with the dipping sauce. Sauce reminds me of teriyaki. Pretty cool that the sticky rice was cube shape. The Spring Roll sampler was good too. I like the nemnuong the most with good sized sliced sweet sausage. I like the orange sauce the most too. Paired the best with all three types of spring rolls. Hu Tieu Noodle bowl was ok. Not the best one I've had. I got it dry style which means soup on the side. The bowl of noodles had a slightly sweet salty sauce which could be fish sauce. The soup was really good though. Meaty flavor broth but oily. Great balance of flavor, slightly sweet and salty with the peppery cilantro flavor. Also like the pork rib that came with it. Prices were reasonable. Service was quick, too. Friendly staff. The decor was vintage style so it almost feels like eating in a small museum. read more

My husband and I are addicted to this place! We have been here 3 times in one week and can't get enough. We have came twice late at night and gotten bot chien, nem Nuong cuon, and bun cha Hanoi twice now. We also tried their hu tieu and sizzling plate with baguette. Also was able to try their drinks as well. Safe to say we shall be back soon. read more
We came here for dinner on our last night in town. When we walked in, we were seated within a minute. It was not very busy for a Sunday night. We ordered the summer roll sampler, Hu Tieu rice noodle soup, Mi Dac Biet soup, bun cha Ha Noi, and a strawberry smoothie with popping boba for my girls. Everything was very good. The broth in the Hu Tieu was especially flavorful. My bun cha was quite oily due to the fatty pork, but it was still really delicious. My kids especially loved their smoothie, which was made with fresh strawberries. It is on the pricier side, but the quality of the food made it worth it. Overall, I would definitely come back when we are in town again. read more

It has charming decor and is located inside a large plaza with plelnty of parking. The food comes out hot and there may be a bit of a wait but nothing unusual if the food is being made fresh on a cast iron skillet. This is my second time here and I ordered a #26 while my friend ordered a #25. I found mine to be somewhat salty and needed to drink a lot of water to get it down. My friend thought theirs was fine and was very good. Service here is always a miss in my opinion. The first time I came here was with a large group and they got our orders correct but set it down on the wrong side of the table. As it was a large group, we couldn't see what was happening and there were confusion when most food arrived and things were missing. It would have been better to ask the table on both sides (We had 4 tables put together) whose order they were holding. It didn't happen this time around but our waitress never came back to check on us. We needed extra napkins and most importantly, water refills. The time we went was past the lunch rush hour and the restaurant wasn't even close to being busy. read more

Popped by for lunch on a Saturday right at noon and the place was completely packed, ended up waiting about 15 minutes for a party of 3 before getting seated. You add yourself to the waitlist in person on an iPad and the restaurant shares a large (but very busy!) lot with the rest of Little Saigon in San Jose. 4 Roll Sampler (4/5): Nothing crazy, just solid summer / spring rolls with a variety of fillings. My favorite is always going to be the one with a fried spring roll in the center for that added bit of texture, but I did like that they also came with a flight of sauces: classic peanut, fish sauce, and my favorite which had a base of crab butter. Banh Mi Chao Bo (4.25/5): Beef was super tender and the sauce is deliciously savory with a bit of tomato flavor. Their version comes with a block of laughing cow cheese, a meatball, and runny eggs. My only complaint is I wish there was a bit more steak, but absolutely delicious and paired exactly how I wanted with the freshly toasted baguette. Hu Tieu Nam Vang (3.75/5): Solid rendition, but didn't blow my socks off. Nice chewy noodles and okay amount of toppings. Broth unfortunately was just okay. Walking around Vietnam town and came across this cute cafe! The decorations outside are so pretty perfect for Chinese new year. The cafe had a lot of drink selection and food. The service was very nice and fast. The food was delicious we got the soup rice noodle and the meat dish with bread. The pork spring rolls were yummy especially with the crunch inside. We popped in here for lunch. There was a bit of a wait but it wasn't long. My tablemates ordered a crispy pork ban mi. This was very good. I ordered a shaking beef garlic noodle. Noodles didn't have enough garlic but beef was flavorful and tender. Restaurant is clean. Service is indifferent. No one came by to refill out water. My noodles showed up after everyone finished their sandwich. Deduct one star for meh svc. read more
Came back to try some dishes. Service was good, especially for Asian restaurant. We opted to sit inside as it was too hot outside and people were smoking. The shaken beef with red rice (you can change for garlic rice or noodles):3.5 stars. Good amt of beef and tender meat. However it needed some flavors. We ask for lemons and salt and pepper and dip it in that. Got the #32 which I thought was crab eggroll but it was shrimp egg roll. 3 stars. It was decent and crunchy (freshly made) but it had one shrimp and minced pork and veggies. Liked the accompaniment of veggies and vermicelli but will not be getting that dish again. read more

My first run in with Buon Me Cafe was great. I ordered myself a banh mi ba chi [pork belly] and it was honestly the best ba chi sandwich I had ever had. No lie, I literally dreamed about having another bite of this!!! Fast forward, I made the trip out to Buon Me Cafe and placed my order for another banh mi ba chi, egg coffee, and a large sugarcane juice. The order came out fairly quick. The egg coffee was great. It tasted exactly as it should- a balance of sweetness mixed with the typical punch of caffeine you would expect from Vietnamese coffee. The sugarcane juice was good- fresh, quenching, and not overly sweet. The only complaint with that was the cup it was placed in. Instead of the normal plastic cup, the staff put the juice in a hot cup which not only caused for a mess during transporting but the liquid eventually started to make the paper cup feel soggy. The banh mi was by far the worst buy!!! The baguette lowkey tasted stale, the flavoring was bland, and it was absolutely missing/needing the soy aspect that was included in my initial buy. Definitely not worth the calories or the cost. 2 stars overall. This last visit was such a disappointment. read more

Food 5/5: This is our second time coming here and it was just as great as the first time. I ordered the crab rolls and everything was fresh and tasty. Huge portions and I loved all the fresh herbs. The ambiance here literally feels like being in Vietnam! Their menu has a wide variety of food and drinks, being more on the traditional side as there's some homestyle meals served here. Solid experience dining in and ordering for takeout, though some dishes are rather pricey. RECS: + Banh mi bo kho ($14.95, 5/5 stars) is so beefy and comforting + Mi dac biet kho ($18.95, 4.5/5 stars) had a solid, savory sauce that really reminds me of my ba noi's. The mi is better than the hu tieu here for this + Banh mi chao bo luc lac ($28.50, 4.25/5 stars) is hearty and filling, with a more beefy and tomato based sauce. The decor of this restaurant is so cute! I love the vintage details and so many options for drinks and dishes. They had a giant screen showing us pictures of some yummy items that we wished we saw earlier. Service was quick and attentive, they brought the food out pretty fast as well. They did run out of banh mi sandwiches when we got there, but I got the bò né and it came with a lot of stuff like eggs, ground meatballs, cha lua... cheese!! The laughing cow cheese was such a nice touch since I haven't had it with creamy cheese before. My friends got different items and we all were really happy and full by the end. read more
