Milktea Way is a refreshing and unique milk tea spot in a city that is oversaturated with them. The menu has drinks and toppings that are inspired by Vietnamese culture. There are interesting toppings such as cheddar cheese and cheese balls! There are only a few flavors for milk tea, which I like because it's easier to choose what you want lol. I opted for the traditional milk tea, 75% sweet, with the cheese cream foam. The cheese cream foam was sooo delicious and creamy. It actually had a cheese-y flavor and reminded me of Cheez Whiz. The cheese foam was sweetened as well, so I'd opt for 50% sweet next time. I will also probably ask for less ice. The service was great. The cashier was very passionate about their drinks and sharing Vietnamese culture with us when we asked questions about the menu. The drinks were served pretty quickly. We were looking for our next study spot and Milktea Way immediately caught our attention. We needed a place with wifi and late hours. It's a really cute and quaint shop. Despite its size, they made really efficient use of the space so there's a good chunk of seating area for people to hang out or study. They also have a pretty good range of drinks to choose from split into three categories: milk tea, coffee, and matcha. The service was great and they were super patient with me as I was trying to figure out what to get. I ended up getting the Milktea Way which was a fun create your own drink where you can choose the milk tea base, foam, and an extra topping on top of the set toppings already included in the drink. I really enjoyed the drink we created. It was super creamy and I loved the different textures from the toppings. I am a picky person for boba stores, so finding this place is a goldmine (not really, can't think of a word). I like that the menu features drinks I have never seen before, like the Jasmine Green Rice, Traditional Purple Rice, and Cacao Thai. For the rice drinks, they use a Vietnamese rice called "soi", and it is a delicious ingredient with the coconut milk (non-caffeinated version. I am currently ordering the Jasmine Green Rice and Cacao Thai, so I hope it will be good. Be prepared to wait because they usually have one or two people being the cashier and making drinks. I hate it when the owner(s) don't hire more people when the worker(s) is struggling so hard. If you see this, hire more people and pay them a good wage. Stop being cheap. Treat your workers the way they deserved it. There's also multiple parking lots because this is in a strip mall. Ambiance is good. I am Asian, so I don't care about ambiance. I got the milktea way drink! It was pretty good, next time I would probably not choose all 3 toppings BUT I appreciate the option to have all three. The service is amazing here, the barista was super nice and considerate. We did unfortunately deal with a curious non-customer coming into the store bother people, but the barista made sure everyone was okay and apologized for the incident. This shop is located across the street from Vietnam Town. There are plenty of tables and seats, and they have several board games if you want to hang around and play. I opted for the Cheese Cream (per the staff's recommendation) and boba. I also adjusted to 25% sweetness. This drink was delicious. I was a little scared the cheese cream would taste very "cheesy" given the orange color but it was surprisingly subtle in flavor. It added a nice creaminess to the drink. The boba had the perfect balance of chewy and soft. I really liked the rice but I wish there was slightly less of it (just personal preference). My bf ordered the Salted Cream Coffee at 25% sweetness. The staff did warn him that the coffee taste would be very strong at that level of sweetness, and indeed it was. Ordered the Green Rice Jasmine Milk Tea with Salted Cheese Foam 75% sweetness and added boba for $8.20 total after taxes. The difference between the salted foam and the salted cheese foam is that the salted foam is just cream and salt whereas the salted cheese has actual cheddar cheese in it. Regardless, the salted cheese foam just tasted like any other normal salted foam to me. It didn't have a distinct cheese flavor but the bright yellow color gave a nice contrast to the green rice in the drink which was fun and of course delicious! The green rice tasted like pounded sticky rice. It was lined on the outer edges of the cup, so be sure to use your straw to push the rice down to actually be able to get more chunks of it while you drink. I really liked the contrasting textures of the boba and the rice mixed in with the creaminess of the foam. 75% was not too sweet but I think I'll do 100% sweetness next time because the salted cheese foam was so creamy that it diluted the jasmine milk tea a little. I was in the area for Duc Huong banh mi yesterday and wanted a drink so decided to stop by. Got the green rice Jasmine milk tea at 50% sweet as recommended by the very nice barista working the register, also added the cheese cream, Jerry's cheese, and grass jelly. With the toppings added the drink was almost $12 which was kind of pricey, but I don't drink boba too often anymore so it's fine once in awhile. Since I have been avoiding caffeine for the last 2 years, I am now very sensitive to any amount, but surprisingly I was able to tolerate the tea from here as it doesn't smell or taste very strong. The location of the shop isn't in the nicest area, there was one man inside the store and that was cursing and talking to himself when we came in. It's was good to sample and try everything but was definitely very heavy. I really enjoyed the green rice in the Jasmine Milk Tea, it was the sticky glutenous rice that provided lots of fun texture. All 3 of their special topping were good and creamy but the cheese balls stood out to me. The drink came in a big cup so this one drink alone fill me up. This spot opened up about 5 months ago. The menu is small, serving a few teas, milk tea, and coffee drinks. I was intrigued with the Jasmine green rice milk tea from the photos on Yelp. You have the option of adding additional toppings (Jerry's Cheese, Vietnamese pudding and cheese balls) but I opted out. I added diced strawberries since the boba was not ready at the time, and topped it with the cheese cream. The strawberries masked the subtle jasmine flavors and the taste of the green rice were completely absent. If I were to reorder this drink, I'd keep it simple and leave out the strawberries and the cheese cream. The salted cream coffee (cafe muoi) was better. The coffee was strong and the cream was smooth and not too salty. The owner seemed to value customer insight and genuinely looks to ways to improve. My friends and I are always down to try a new boba spot and this is where we landed today. Genuinely not impressed with my experience here; details below. Drink: Strawberry Matcha Dream: x This was supposed to be my drink, however, when you look at the picture, there is no strawberry visibly present in any of the drinks. Back story:: When ordering, there is going to be a screen in front of you that clearly shows you what you're ordering. My recommendation to is carefully look at it and confirm x3 that this is what you want. When I ordered, the cashier inputted "Matcha Cloud" when I stated that I wanted to order the "Strawberry Matcha Dream". I caught this and inquired about why it stated "Matcha Cloud" instead. What I was told was that this *is* the "Strawberry Matcha Dream" and that it is "just under the same name and labeled the same as the "Matcha Cloud". I believed it after I saw that the price was, in fact, for the Strawberry Matcha Dream. However, with all of that said, what resulted was not a Strawberry Matcha Dream, but the Matcha Cloud. I probably could have went back, but 1) My drink isn't actually labeled "Strawberry Matcha Dream" on the receipt and 2) I wasn't going to wait another 20 minutes for that because we already spent around 40-50 minutes waiting in line and to get our drinks. Matcha Cloud, 50% sweetness, regular ice, salted cream: 2.0/5 If you're looking for milk that's sweetened with sweetened condensed milk and a hint of matcha, look no further because this is the drink. This is what they mixed my drink up with. My friend and I ended up getting this drink...kind of. My friend weirdly had hints of strawberry essence inside of this drink and his was less sweet, which is interesting because I'm the one that wanted the strawberry drink. That beside, this drink just tastes like milk to me. There's really not a strong flavor of matcha anywhere inside of this beverage. Seems like a very one-dimensional drink and needless to say, I was more than underwhelmed by this drink. The salted cream that I also did not ask for was added to this drink. Makes it too thick, and rich for me. Perhaps too much heavy cream. For this, I can partially blame myself for because I didn't confirm why that was added to my drink even after I saw it there on the list of specifications for my drink. However...did I really stutter that much for my drink to be completely mixed up? Anyways, the saltiness from the cream helped balance out some of the sweetness. Not super significant because of the amount versus the size of the drink. It was nice and creamy and mixed well into the drink. Soursop Tea: 3.8/5 Perhaps best item out of three we got. My one note is that their sweetness leans more on being super sweet. We got 50% sweetness in our drinks and that was already sugary sweet. Can't imagine how sweet 100% would be. What I did enjoy was the soursop bits at the bottom of the drink. Perhaps this is frozen soursop, but it was still enjoyable. Overall very refreshing drink. --------- Quality: Ehh The quality is subpar for me. This is mostly based on the matcha because the flavoring of my drink bothers me so much. It was truly just sweetened milk with a hint of matcha. The green color isn't as vibrant as I have seen at other places either. Perhaps the amount of matcha isn't enough for a cup of that size or the match is just not up to quality. Price: Fair for size, not worth for quality The pricing is actually fair for a drink like this because of the size drink that is provided. However, if you think about quality, this might not be the spot for you. Price ranges from $6 to $8, which is quite average. Topping of greater than or equal to $1 are not cute though, but this is another location that charges that. Service: Seems friendly They seem nice and very friendly with their customers. The tables do take up most of the space and the remainder of the empty space is taken up by the customers waiting to order. The cheese cream is sooo good and addicting and I love how they give so much cream. The toppings are flavorful and soft. It had vietnamese pudding, cheese jelly, and soft cheese balls plus a bonus topping of your choice. I picked crystal boba for mine. The cheese balls were delicious! The amount of toppings with the milk tea made my drink feel more like a dessert than a typical boba drink which I love. It kept me full as well. Love the creaminess of the milk tea paired with the potent tea flavor. My drink came out fast. Cashier and workers are friendly. I enjoy the cute layout of the store that's really aesthetic and picture worthy. Wish I remembered to take a photo of my drink while I was still inside!
