Awesome spot for Vietnamese desserts. This was my first time trying Oche Dessert. I've come across this business on social media quite a bit but it took for my sister's craving for me to actually check it out. The menu isn't as big but definitely big enough to serve its purpose. There are 10 dessert options with 3 being traditional versions. Oche also has a separate offering of tau hu [silky tofu]. Flavors aren't typical and range from egg cream, taro, and matcha. All items are made fresh- although they are pre-batched. I assume this is to help speed things along for both the staff and patrons. Sweetness levels are customized to your liking. Our order: *DURIAN DESSERT *SPECIAL JELLIES DESSERT [suong sa hot luu] The durian dessert is by far the best purchase. Fresh chunks of durian are found throughout the cup. The special was good but my only wish was for more pandan green tapioca "worms". I like the fact you can adjust the sweetness and ice level. Mainly these drinks and desserts can be pretty sweet by default. The employees were very friendly. I ordered the D6 Durian Dessert (Che Sau Rieng). Unfortunately, the flavor was lacking. I probably would not pay the extra fee for the durian add-on, but this came with the order. The che slightly underwhelming despite a large after lunch crowd. The green jelly was not chewy enough and the ice was nuggets rather than shaved. Frankly prefer Bambu although the prices there have gotten steep. Che here is about $8. Ambiance is cute and nice for family hangouts. The durian chè was the main reason I decided to visit! The interior of the shop is super sleek and modern, making it a great spot to just hang out and enjoy a refreshing dessert on a hot day. While you can definitely taste the durian in the chè, I do wish the flavor was a bit stronger. It was just a little more than a hint, and as a fan, I would have loved a bolder durian punch. The service was a little on the slow side, but to be fair, I visited during their soft opening so they are likely still working out the kinks. They have some more traditional Viet desserts as well as some interesting modern takes, so there's a good variety. Stopped by here real quick during a weekend Vietnam Town trip with my bestie. I've never really tried soy pudding or the more modern chè, so when I see Oche Desserts offers that on their menu, I decided to give it a try. The shop is actually pretty spacious, probably fits around 20-30 people, and I LOVE the minimalist aesthetic. Super clean, simple, and just nice to be in. The cashier was really friendly and we got our order in like 5 minutes. I ordered the S1 Egg Cream Soy Pudding and D8 Special Coconut Flan. Everything was packed nicely in to-go containers, and omg their mascot/logo is sooo cute. For to-go they also give you a separate bag of ice, their ice are the type of premium crunchy ice chips that melt in your mouth. Flavor-wise, I really enjoyed the S1. The soy pudding was soft, fragrant, and had that smooth jiggly texture. The egg cream was sooo good, and the toasted coconut flakes added a nice little crunch to balance everything out. The D8 Special Coconut Flan is def a must-try if you're into coconut + flan (which I am lol). The flan itself was a bit thicker than my personal preference, felt like they might've used heavy cream, but still well made and not overly sweet. The caramel layer had a nice color and flavor. All the toppings inside were pretty good too, especially the coconut strips. The coconut milk sauce tied everything together really nicely. Overall, even though I'm not the biggest fan of chè, Oche Dessert actually did a really good job. Weekday around 2pm. No one to take my order. Employee behind curtain didn't notice us. I had to ask for help twice. Ordered the number 1, and a flan. Everything is pre- made and sitting in refrigerator for who knows how long. Picture of flan on menu was large. What I received for $2.75 was comical...like it was for a child. Tasted stale. Ochē desserts are amazing! I make sure to stop by every time I'm in Viet town. The decor is trendy and the staff is very sweet. They are always happy to answer questions and make changes to the drinks. I've tried several of the desserts because I am usually here with my family so we order many of them. My favorite one is D4 Avocado Dessert. It comes with avocado puree, avocado chunks, pudding, jelly, and coconut milk. I always get regular sweet and it is perfect. Not too sweet. Very refreshing and delicious! D5. The Thai Dessert was also good! It has more fruits with a coconut base. Also refreshing and delicious! D9. Pandan Soy is a pandan lover's dream! Oche is hands down the best che place in SJ! I used to frequent Ba Co Desserts, but recently tried Oche and was pleasantly amazed at how good each and every dessert was! I tried the suong sa hat luu (special jellies dessert) and the pandan soy. I adjusted the sweetness for both to half sugar and it was perfect. The jellies dessert was a classic and the pandan soy was very fragrant with pandan flavoring. The soy pudding was soft and there were even fresh coconut shreds inside. I ordered D2 off their traditional menu -- "Three Colors" while my wife ordered "Special Coconut Flan" off their modern menu. I love that you're able to customize the sweetness of your order here. You're able to choose 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%. Additionally, you can also choose the amount of ice you want in your dessert, including ice-on-the-side. I really enjoyed the variety of beans and jellies in my dessert. I ended up not adding any ice into my dessert and felt like that was the right decision, as it kept the coconut milk from getting diluted. For coconut lovers, D8 is the honestly the perfect dessert, as it includes flakes of fresh coconuts as well as toasted coconut garnish on top. A cute little dessert shop that just opened in San Jose Vietnam Town. If you're familiar with this area, this shop is located across from Tofu's Trading, and behind Blue Monkey. Their menu is simple and small, and they specialize in Soy Pudding. We got the Pandan Soy Pudding, and the Egg Cream Soy Pudding. The Pandan Soy Pudding contains durian, but it had dream durian bits in it, which I loved because I cannot stand artificial durian flavoring. The durian did overpower the pandan taste a bit, but the soy pudding was silky and smooth. The sweetness of this was perfect & not too sweet. The Egg Cream Soy Pudding is a plain soy pudding with egg cream, similar to the ones they use as a topping at some coffee shops. This one was a bit on the sweeter side.
