Burback Motors was recommend by an automotive shop near me as they did not work on BMW's. When I called, the ladies in the office could not have been nicer. The mechanic, Ryan called me over to show and explain the cause of and the expense of my problem. His very knowledgeable explanation albeit expensive, gave me confidence the job would be done in a timely fashion and would work perfectly. I left my car overnight in their enclosed garage and the next morning my X5 was like new. My wife and I had a trip scheduled to northern Washington that would give Ryans work a test. 370 miles later, no runs, no drips no errors. I am a very pleased customer and even though most of the cars I saw were Mercedes in their garage I was pleased they took pity on me to work on my BMW X5. I've been taking my car to this shop for the last 3-4 years and never had a problem and the cost has always been reasonable. When I took my 500e out to PIR to set a land speed record and ended up burning up the brakes and flying off the track at 115 mph, I saved the car from rolling, Mike was able to fix it right up. I've taken my last 2 Mercedes to Mike (and family) with great results. I have found them to be upfront with pricing, willing to help me prioritize when I can't afford everything needed, and super flexible with scheduling. Pricing...I've seen some reviews that have stated that Mike is on the high side. I disagree...I've done quite a bit of comparison and find him to be quite fair. These Germans are expensive to maintain, but I believe if you shop around, and factor in the quality of service, you'll be happiest with Burback. Recommended by several co-workers, and by following their advice I have had many happy miles in my Mercedes. These are solid people. read more

This place is great!! When I was looking for my Benz these guys were there to help me every step of the way. Pre-purchase inspections helped me avoid making some big mistakes. When I finally found the right car for me, I knew exactly what it need to be prefect. Mike and the gang completed all the repairs exactly as expected. They may not be the least expensive place in town, but whenever my car leaves their shop it is alway done correctly. I never have to worry about them lying to me or using low quality parts. I will not be returning to Mike Burback's shop for work on any of my cars in the near future. Our experience with Mike started out reasonable enough -- he was helpful and personable. He would often repair and diagnose problems quickly and efficiently. The rates were good and his turnaround on a repair was always reasonable. Of late, however, I've found that he's started nickel and diming me: doing work I don't approve before-hand, charging outrageous prices for parts, not following through on commitments he's made. Our last oil change was over $150 because he decided to swap out a couple fuses and some lightbulbs I would have been happy to replace myself if he'd just called to ok the changes with me. read more

Beware, I purchased a Groupon on Oct 16, 2014 which expires on May 1, 2015. I called them today Feb 2, 2015 and Linda + the owner said they are no longer accepting Groupons. I'm shocked, my Groupon clearly states expires May 1, 2015. I've never been to this establishment before but have been looking for a place to do oil changes on my wife's vehicle. Too bad this business has no customer service and can't honor what they sold or they might have had my business for a long time. read more

I am making a public record to warn others of Burback Motors, Inc's dishonest business practice with my car & their failure to take accountability. They advertised services on their website that they could not perform & their modus operandi was to take as much money as possible without fixing the actual problems they were tasked with, then trying to sell me to their friends for additional repairs. When I asked to get my car fixed properly or get my money back (neither of which have happened), both Pam and Mike screamed and yelled at me over the phone and in person on multiple occasions. I warned them I would be reporting them to the DOJ Consumer Protection Agency & the Better Business Bureau, but they still refused to help remedy this situation. They showed their true colors as unprofessionals who could not keep their word, and in business all you have is your word. They took total advantage of my trust. Do not do business with these people. My story: I took my 1989 Mercedes 190e to Burback to get a door-lock repaired and have them get my car winter-ready so I wouldn't have any issues in the upcoming winter season. They advertise free weather inspection on their website. I told them I was on a fixed budget. On 8/27/15 Pam and Mike at Burback told me it would cost $298 to fix the lock. During their inspection of the car they discovered a loose belt and quoted me $400 for the repair. Nothing was given to me in writing, and they made no mention of additional labor costs. I told them to continue with the repairs. A day or two later I got a call telling me it cost $1,400 for the repairs, and then the following day I got a call from their mechanic telling me it would be $1720 in total. I had sticker shock. When I went in to pay them and tell them about their initial quotes to me changing, Pam said I could pay the $1,400 now and pay the remaining later. THEN they informed me after I wrote the check that they noticed my transmission was leaking fluid in their repair shop. I was very angry they had just taken my money and were now trying to sell me a $3,000 transmission replacement at their friend's shop next door. I became angry and upset. When I finally came to pick up my car, there were many additional unauthorized repairs made: 1.Door lock $298.00, 2.Hood shock $61.00, 3.Belt tensioner adjustment rod $27.00 4.Belt tensioner $368.00, 5.Belt $45.00,6.Belt tensioner shock $59.00, 7.Fan clutch bearing bracket. $268.00, 8. Transmission fluid $21.00 Statement said: Parts $1,126.00 Labor $563.00 Total cost $1,720.00 Originally they quoted me $698.00 total. And at no time did they ever give anything to me in writing unit I paid. I took my car home, and less than three weeks later my car broke down on Hwy 26, leaving me stranded. I called Geico to tow my car back to Burback because we had a contractual agreement that they get my car inspected and repaired for winter and I was about to be picked up by a carpool to go to a wedding that hour. Geico never came. When I returned the following day, my car had tickets all over it. They then towed it back to Burback, who refused to fix my car & told me my transmission was out. I called Geico again, who refused to tow. Burback Motors refused to fix my car or refund my money for breach of contract, yelled at me to move my car, then sold me to their tow driver for $125. I had a solid service experience - Ryan took great care of me. I will definitely leverage Burback as my go to MB mechanic going forward. Up to this point I was using either MB Portland or MB Beaverton for service. Both dealers had good people, but I wanted an independent MB shop for my on going service so that I could feel more comfortable with a consistent team's quality of service. My 2006 diesel w211 is worthy of keeping several more years so finding the right indy mechanic for the long haul was a priority. So glad to have found this shop! They fixed my 2001 Mercedes right up. Turned out it was my mass air flow sensor. The car had been washed before I picked it up, unlike the last autoshop I used to take it to. The owners are super friendly, great people! Very clean shop! Best experience ever with an independent Mercedes specialist. I have had my old MB for 18 years and had a fantastic mechanic near Salem who retired and closed his shop in 2007. Since then I have been trying various options (dealerships in Salem and Eugene, independent MB "experts" in Corvallis and Eugene) but nothing compared to my old mechanic (Kees). However, a friend recommended Burback to me and I decided to make the effort of driving all the way to Portland to get my car fixed. There was nothing very serious with my car, rather several very annoying things that did not work well and that other mechanics had been trying and failing to fix over the last 2 years. The main issue is that many of the mechanics trying to work on my car are younger than the car itself and, even at some dealerships, I can tell that they have a hard time even opening its hood or changing one of its light bulbs. So, I took the car to Burback Motors and left it there for 4 days. Mike and Ryan did an evaluation and discussed with me over the phone the different options and costs. They were always very clear explaining things, logical in the working strategy they were proposing (fix this first, then that next, if this does nor work....then we will do that, etc.) and very upfront about costs. They also seem to have my monetary interests (not theirs) in mind. Long story short, they did what we had agreed upon and the car runs like a dream again. The air conditioning is working again (and without having to replace the compressor as other mechanics told me I had to do), all the vacuum elements (actuators) that control the locks, gear shifting, climate control, etc. that operate again as they should, finally, a number of minor details were also successfully addressed. When I returned to pick up the car, Mike took all the time necessary in explaining everything that was done and what I had to watch for in the future (a master lecture). Besides that, his wife Pam, was the most professional and pleasant front office staff I have met among all the independent MB repair shops I have visited in the Willamette Valley since I got here 15 years ago. I would give a "5 star" rating to this repair shop. Burback has gained another long time client with me. One final point, anyone who may complaint about how much this repair shop may charge does clearly ignore what maintaining an old Mercedes entails and what other shops charge to work on these cars. read more

We called about hours, info and types of Benz services -- the wife / co-owner hung up on us. We called back and asked her what happened -- she said she thought the call was done. We let her know that usually business owners indicate "thank you for calling" or a simple "goodbye," not a straight slamming down of the phone. We are using a great shop but located in Tigard. We have 2 Benz, an older 2004 and a newer 2010, and we live in the West Hills. We have been told mixed reviews, good and bad, about this place. If pleasant customer service isn't something you want, then go give this place a try. This is the VERY FIRST BUSINESS that we have ever filed a review (restaurant, hotel, travels, services) and we are in our mid-40s. read more
