I went here for a smog check and a coupon that came in the mail. The coupon price is $24.50 but the employee said my car isn't included in the promo which excludes trucks, large vehicles, and luxury cars. I have a mini suv with only 4 cylinder so it shouldn't be excluded in the promo. Since I was already there and I didn't feel like going elsewhere, I asked him how much is a regular smog then? He said $60 but I told him that I could get in somewhere else for $50. He said $50 is fine so I agreed for him to do the smog. My car easily passed. He asked me how do I want to pay. I said credit card. He said there's extra charge for a credit card but not debit card. I didn't to pay extra so I pay debit but guess what, he still charge me extra $2. My SUV was sent thru CarMax to this shop, twice, first time they said they have to change the transmission and alternator, they did, they released my car and the problem was not resolved, (by the way they charged more than 11k to CarMax I'm so happy I didn't have to pay) after 3 weeks I have to return my SUV for the same problem. 11/20/25 to 01/05/26. more than a month and they only changed a sensor. when I picked up my SUV from CarMax, I noticed Burbank shop drove my car for more than 300 miles, and they didn't find the problem??? reallyyyy?? they left prove that they used my car for personal reasons (receipts, catalogs, invoices with the name of the person on it!!! on top of that, one of the tires had low air pressure, sensor warning was on and they didn't have the decency to pump air in it??!!? mud on the protector mats. It seemed like they were just guessing and pushed my car aside to charge CarMax more, Idk, !!! people, take your cars to a more trusting shop!! just saying!! if not, good luck with these guys!! Stay away from this place. You've been warned. I was here for a smog check and a young minority man (maybe 20's?) came in and begged to use the restroom. The young man said he had an emergency. The worker doing my smog check told him to leave and then started literally shouting at him to go somewhere else. He said and I quote "The restroom isn't for you. Get away! Go! Git!" He then chased the man to his car and started taking photos of the license plate. It was absolutely ridiculous. I regret that I didn't say anything or defend that young man and if I could go back and do it I would. The people here are cruel, callous and probably racist. I'm never coming back. Brought in my Porsche Cayenne for oil change here, as their prices are much better than the dealer. Waited in the waiting room while they worked on it. About 2 weeks ago my car engine took a huge dump on the freeway driving home from San Diego. I was in a real jam with finances and some other things, but my uncle referred me to a very reputable. I brought my car in, he took a look and found the problem instantly. My car engine had blown! As he waited for me to gather my funds, I called in Monday after noon around 2:30 pm to tell him lets get this process started. He said okay give me a few days, I'll have an update for you. Thursday at noon, I get a call saying my car was ready. Not only did Dro and his father fix my engine issue they had also taken care of a few cheap belts, gave me an oil change, fixed the coolant, etc. They made my 2013 feel like a new 2020. I stopped in on my way to work, and waited around outside their front office for about five minutes without seeing anyone on staff. Finally was helped by a kind man who got me going for my smog check. A taller man - presumably the owner? - finally came round, while on the phone, and motioned ambiguously at me with his hands while passing me. Finally he got off the phone, and started to attend to me. Where things got weird was when he asked me how much I'd heard the smog check service was. I said I hadn't heard, but that I had a ten dollar off coupon from checking in on Yelp. He then thought a minute, and said "OK, service is normally $60, but $50 with coupon." My car was then hooked up to the computer, and away the two men went... Leaving it all running. After about 8 minutes I glanced up at the computer diagnostics screen, and it said the process had completed. Still, my car and I were left unattended to for another 15 minutes. The man came back finally, and shoved a paper in my face to sign. I asked if my car was almost done, to which he said "no, still going!" without even checking the computer screen status, and walked away. I hopped on Yelp to read prior reviews while I continued to wait, now having been there 30+ minutes, and was amazed at how positive they were considering the standoffish ness of this man, and the lengthy wait I'd been experiencing. Mind you, I was the only customer present for the duration of this visit. Also, I noticed that recent reviews on Yelp described a $40 payment with coupon, so I asked the man if the prices had gone up or something since I was quota red $50 with coupon. He got super defensive, stuttering that those people must've had a paid membership, and if I wanted to sign up for that, I could get the discount to $40. He defensively shoved a bunch of random coupons in my face, none of which offered a $40 smog check. Anyway, this is long, but in short, I left this place with a bad taste in my mouth. If there was a no star rating I would use it for this place, and that's sad to say being a former customer. Originally I felt comfortable bringing my cars here or referring friends because at the time it was owned my a great mechanic who was honest and ran a shop where you felt at ease leaving your vehicle. Now If I had no other option but to go to Burbank automotive I would be watching my vehicle like a hawk making sure everything was done right. The last two interactions I had with the new owner were pretty much the typical dealings with a shady mechanic . "Don't worry my friend I'll take care of you" , "I'll hook you up" , "shouldn't be much we can talk price later" . Both occasions the price was pretty much standard initially then jumped when it came closer to pick up the vehicle. Both vehicles I had to bring back several times with new problems both cars I ended up having to get rid of due to the fact the never ran or drove the same again. One of them I sold to a friend and explained to them if they had any issues to take it back to the mechanic..... They ended up taking it back and bringing back more problems. I cannot stress enough to any future customers, avoid this establishment at all costs there are literally three shops within walking distance if you are in a bind . I could write a book on how shady this place is now, please learn from my mistake and any other customers that post their dealings and interactions with this establishment . read more

I brought my car in to for repairs to pass the SMOG test. The mechanic "fixed" my car by changing the catalytic converter and changing the spark plugs. $530 later my car is running worse. I brought it back to them 3 times to finally get a diagnostic and was told that they would need to change the injector for an additional $250. The worse part is I had no issues with the car prior to bringing it in, I just needed to pass the SMOG test. I am highly dissatisfied with their work and now I having a different mechanic look at it to see whether they did anything to my car to purposely require more work. My recommendation, stay away from this place. You will end up paying a fortune and risk having your car worse off then when you bring it in. Oh and when he priced me at $530 I contemplated not fixing it with them. Their way of forcing you to is charging a variable "Diagnostic fee" which he says was as little as $0 but could go up to $180, depending on how much work your car needed. Its their way of hooking you for $180 minimum just in case they can't find enough wrong with it to run the bill up. Lesson Learned. read more

Been hearing a noise and Dro the owner checked it out after the check no charge no questions asked. Rode with him. He didn't hear anything and didn't make anything up. First off, I am from Michigan where everyone I know fixes their own car or truck. First rule of car maintenance is know how to fix your own vehicle. Second as a woman it's extremely difficult to be taken seriously by auto mechanics unless you can speak their language. What's that got to do with reviewing a car repair shop? This: I am not an expert, still, I have a general knowledge of autos and how to repair them. My ex-husband (who is very knowledgeable about cars and their maintenance) introduced me to this shop with whom he has been dealing for many years. I have found that Drew (for whom I always ask) treated me with respect and deference but not with condensation. He analysed my car's problems correctly, gave me a reasonable estimate which allowed me to judge if I wanted to invest in the repairs. The repairs were done in a timely manner and with satisfactory results. The final price did not deviate greatly from the estimate. I never assume the final price will be like the estimate. Until you get your hands dirty you never truly know what the job entails. It is my belief that auto repair costs in California are like everything else in this state: incredibly overpriced, especially compared to back home. But armed with knowledge and exercising diligence your experience can be a positive one. I have never had a negative experience with this shop or the shop I use near my work. I would recommend Drew's work to friends and family. I would stress to anyone seeking auto repairs to know their car, and do their homework before talking with any mechanic. read more

Went in for my smog check and employee that I worked with was very rude. The price I was quoted over the phone and again when arrived went up by the time they were done. I asked for an explanation, but was just told that was the price I was to pay. When he was finished with my car, he went behind his counter, waited a few minutes and said in my direction, "I'm waiting!". I asked him if that meant he was done with my car, to which he did not reply. They also have a fine collection of pot aficionado magazines, which perked up the "waiting room". Avoid this joint at all cost, major rip off. I took my suv there and had to wait 10 minuets to even find someone to wait on me. Then me and my wife were sitting very comfortably outside when the tech insisted we sit inside. Fifteen mins later the tech returns and says your suv didnt pass. I asked him why not and he said it smoked too much Ill show you, So we went back outside and the smoke was thick in the air already and then he hit the gas pedal quick and soon I couldnt even see my wife standing next to me. 24 bucks later we were on our way again and went to another smog shop in which told me that the smoke test was a visual test and mine would pass. By the way everything else passed with flying colors except the smoke so beware of this joint and dont be fooled by their so called discount coupon which states one price and they are quick to add another 10 bucks on for whatever reason. If you have a honest smog shop stick with em alot of rip offs out there. read more
