Food and Service were good, Ambiance blah. Went w my husband at 3pm, just missed lunch time frame. Had to order off the dinner menu bc they were no longer serving lunch items. I was kind of disappointed they wouldn't let me order off of it bc I wanted lunch portions. After I discovered they don't offer the big steaks on their lunch menu, I decided to order the 20oz ribeye. lol. It was served with choice of salad and choice of side. I ordered the Wedge salad and Alamo potatoes. Liked the rolls we were served when sat down, w a sweet butter. The wedge salad was different to have blue cheese and Catalina dressing, but it was tasty. I requested my steak MR, but it was more on the rare side. I was ok with that, bc I took 2 bites and set it aside to carry out. I figured warmed up, it would be perfectly cooked. It had great flavor and lots of marble that makes it even better. I was surprised it had bone-in bc I completely overlooked that on the menu description. I prefer my steaks without bones. But, it was only $4 more than the 16 oz, so that captured my attention. I filled up on the wedge salad, Alamo potatoes (yum), and roll. So, I couldn't eat my steak too. My husband ordered the hamburger steak, sweet potato, and substituted creamed spinach for salad. He really liked his meal, but I didn't like the creamed spinach. With tip, our meal cost $80. We only had water to drink and no desert. I'm not complaining about the price bc it's hard to find a good steak for $40. I am complaining about the mngr on duty. He did not act like he wanted to be at work today. I asked a few questions and had a couple of requests, and he gave the impression he was very bothered. I didn't appreciate his unprofessional demeanor at all! This is the best dinner option in the area. My husband and I are on our babymoon, we didn't even tell the staff and we've never felt more special. We were seated in a private room for just the two of us and treated like family. Valente is one of the best, most personable waiters I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was very kind and helpful. Our food was very good and well priced for the portion sizes (very big plates). We spent most of our meal talking about what great choice this place was. Furthermore, our steak was delicious and the crab soup was yummy, but a tad on the salty side. The caesar salad was meh. However, the bread did not come out until we were almost done with our food. Our friends did not have the same experience. Their steak was overcooked and the shrimp appetizer was not consistent. This is a reasonably priced steakhouse and the steaks were flawless! Good food. I had a salad, a ribeye, alamo potatoes, all were delicious. The service was excellent. We called ahead to see if we needed reservations and were told no we did not need a reservation. We came in the door less than 30 minutes later. We could see plenty of empty tables inside and outside. We requested outside and young cocky man at the podium said well it will be at least 20 minute wait for outside dining. There were not any diners standing in the lobby waiting on tables. So they seated us inside a dark room where there were no other diners instead. Our server was fine and did a good job but we wanted outside dining and did not appreciate young man's attitude at all. Food was real good though as we both had steak. Tab was $100. We visited here on a Sunday night in September with 15 of our friends traveling. The staff was very accommodating to our group and we are grateful for them. The service tonight was outstanding. My wife and I shared "The Steak", the 20 oz, bone in ribeye. We had the wedge salad with it. (one of my favorite salads.) Everything was like it should be. Steak cooked perfectly. Best steak house I have ever been to! I love all of the options for your steak of choice. One night I added blue cheese and many in my party added other toppings to their steaks and loved the flavoring! We came back again and opted to just get it blackened, and both times was so delicious. Blackening it adds that extra kick, spice and flavor that I love. Steak was grilled perfectly. The Brussel sprouts were yummy as well. I went to order their crab bisque but when asked, our very helpful waiter suggested the French onion soup. I'm so glad he did because it was a lighter appetizer before my steak. And it was so good. The Alamo has become an annual tradition when we visit Gatlinburg. The food is great. The employees are friendly. And the ambiance is fantastic! You can't go wrong ordering a steak. Parking was a little confusing at first. We parked at the top and walked down the steps but they do have handicap parking in the lower area. One thing we consistently have here--great food! One of my favorites is a starter: Horseradish and Parmesan Steak Strips. I get these with a side salad or baked potato as my entree. The flavor is so rich and the meat melts in your mouth. I end up sharing because it is too much for me, but I enjoy every bit I have. I've always found everything I have here to be delicious. I'm happy with just their salads, they're so good! When we're in town we come here 2-3 times, we love it that much. Only con--the parking can be challenging if they're busy. Handicap parking is by the building, which you access on a side road down the street. Most of the parking is across the stream, which isn't far. read more

I would be remiss not leaving my stamp of approval for the Alamo Steakhouse. In the picture below you see "The Steak," a 20 oz bone-in ribeye, grilled over oak fire. This was one of the best steaks I've had this year! A lot of flavor, tender, juicy; I suspect it may have been cold smoked prior to grilling giving it a hint of smoke flavor. Also, the baked sweet potato was pure perfection. Service perhaps lacked a pinch of charm but otherwise efficient and to the point. We always make it a point to visit the Alamo when we come to gatlinburg every few months and I have to say this experience was absolutely ridiculous, horrifying and to me completely unacceptable. We were sat quickly (after the experience I now know why no one else wanted to eat here), and we ordered drinks. Once we received our drinks we ordered. My meal and how the situation was handled was the problem so I'll just stick with that. I order the New York strip with a wedge salad and fried green beans. While we are waiting for our food my salad never came out so I knew there was a problem but I just thought maybe they ran out of prepared stuff and had to get more together so I was patient. When our food comes out I mention to my server (Diego) that I never got my salad. He just says "oh, well do you still want it?" First off yes I still want it, because I wouldn't have ordered it if I didn't want it but second off I paid $38 dollars for my meal which included a salad so why would I just say no I don't want it or some sort of discount if I'm not getting what I paid for. Second of all I ordered my steak medium rare, and when it came out and I cut into it I saw that there was no pink inside this steak, it was blue and cold (which doesn't even match their menu of cool red center, for rare because mine wasn't cooked long enough to have color, it was still blue). Once my steak was removed from the table the server came back and asked "what do you want? Do you want your steak medium?" I stated that I wanted my steak brought up to the temperature that I ordered. The server then went on to argue with me and said "I brought you a medium rare steak and you didn't like it so you want medium" I again tried to tell him that my steak was rare and I wanted medium rare and I just wanted it up to temp, and he cut me off so my husband started getting upset, and ultimately I just said "sure make it medium" because apparently when you pay $38 for a meal you don't actually get a say in how it's cooked. The only time I saw what I believe to be a manger was after I told the server I was allergic to salmon when we ordered. I wasn't super worried about it because we eat here regularly and the servers always handle it and ask for my steak to be cooked in a separate pan. The manger (if that's what he was) was super rude about my allergy and almost off put that he had to do something about it. I never saw a manger or had one check on me while trying to get my steak taken care of and cooked correctly. Overall my steak was over cooked because it was medium and not medium rare, granted I would rather it be over cooked instead of raw. I know they can cook a steak medium rare because my husbands and sons were perfect, it was just mine, and ultimately I'm more upset about how we're treated and how the situation was handled than I am about steak. I know steaks can come out cooked wrong, I'm sure it happens regularly at a steak house, but the way we were treated is quite frankly unacceptable. We definitely didn't have the nice family dinner we had planned on having and it's unfortunate, especially with the prices we paid for dinner. I think we are just going to try some of the other steak houses in the area for little while. Maybe we will come back and try this one again if they have a change in management. Mixed on this one, but if we're comparing to other spots around I cannot quite dole out a five-stare review. The service was decent enough and we admittedly arrive just before the dinner rush so we were seated straight away. The food quality was a bit mixed though. I had a ribeye while my wife had a filet. Both cuts tasted great. It's been a long while since I've had wood fired steak grilled over mesquite wood, such a good flavor. However the cuts of steak were at two different spectrums. The wife's filet was one of the more tender filets she'd had in quite a while. On the other hand, my ribeye was "overly marbled", a bad cut no matter how you slice it (pun intended). Good flavor from the grill can't quite make up for how much chewing I had to put into the steak. All in all decent prices, and you want to support the local restaurant seen, but for a bit more money you can do the same thing and have a better cut, or for about the same money you can go to a roadhouse from a certain Texas persuasion and have the same cut at a lower price. read more

Great service by Parker. Attentive and made some recommendations. Ordered the crab dip, horseradish Parmesan steak strips, wedge salad and T-bone steak. The steak was seasoned well but since it's served on a hot plate would recommend ordering it one degree less. I usually like my steak medium rare but more on the rare side than medium. I would order next time rare and let it continue to cook on hot plate. The crab dip was very good, wedge salad was also very good but definitely would not order it with Catalina dressing. The only item would not order again is the strip steak appetizer. It was on the dry side but the Parmesan horseradish topping was good. read more
