I just left your brewery, and your manager on duty made me feel so terrible. The manager- Long brown hair, women wearing a baseball cap Her along with another bartender were harassing me about my I.D. due to a hole punch. The initial bartender asked for my I.D., although I was not drinking. I had no issue showing my I.D. The bartender told me that my Valid non expired I.D. was not valid even though I had the temporary DMV along with my I.D. Without any communication between the bartender and "manager" she started to belittle me about my "invalid" I.D. my I.D. is valid until 2022 might I add. she proceed to give me attitude as i tried to explain i wasn't even drinking. When I complained about the was she was talking to me, and harassing me about something that did not concern her in general She then confronted me a comment " is there a problem" in a tone to almost insinuate she wanted to argue. When i told he she was being rude she then With no apology she dismissed me. She showed us NO apology for the unnecessary harassment. I am already have had a pretty terrible day. Today is a day I survived being injured in a mass shooting 2 years ago. They way i was spoken to was unprofessional & unacceptable in every way. To be harassed over a valid form of ID and being well over 21 even when I was not even drinking. I do understand policy's but to be harassed about my I.D. was out of line. We also watched her serve others without asking for their IDs, which is a form of discrimination anyway. I'd like someone in upper management to contact me immediately regarding this incident. read more

Came by twice this week after not coming in for almost 9 months since they opened. Beer is still good but ladies at the bar need to step up their service. Last night, 12/16: The bar was not busy and I tried to grab one more drink before they started cleaning up. One of the girls was fixing a tap, so another girl came up to tinker on the iPad in front of us. I thought she was gonna close us out but she tapped away and didn't acknowledge us lol. That's weird... We're not standing here with 2 empty glasses and money or anything? I guess my friend and I are invisible because BOTH girls helped two different people standing directly behind us while we awkwardly stood around. Even the guy on the nearest barstool noticed and scoffed when they asked if we needed anything else LMFAO. "Oh but you should have just said something! Maybe they didn't know." Um I guess but considering the details, I shouldn't have to. And if they're that oblivious perhaps they should be trained on being alert. Finally paid and left (didn't tip, not sorry about it), and my poor friend said that was a lame first experience at Burgeon and that's what we get for trying something new. Try their hazy IPAs or stouts! A while back, I tried a vanilla stout that was crafted with coffee beans and hand broken vanilla pods. Needless to say it was delicious In the ever growing beer scene of California, Burgeon is a breath of fresh air. They are dedicated to using the best ingredients, while offering a wide variety of options. I walked in an immediately wanted to go camping and drink a nice beer. The brewery is in an industrial area in Carlsbad. Inside is pretty cool, an outdoorsy-woodsy feel to it. We stopped by because someone likened the hazy beers to Modern Times, which is our absolute favorite. The beer wasn't as impressive as we were hoping for, but it was still good. The northeast hazy beer was their best. It grows on you as you drink it. They don't do flights, which I don't get unless it's a licensing thing. You can only order two tasters per person at a time, which, again, feels really strange. All in all, it was a mediocre experience with relatively good beer. I've got nothing bad to say about it, though it wasn't overly impressive. read more

Good beer, not a great place to enjoy it. The beer is very tasty, they make a ton of IPA's which is my fave so all good there. I came specifically to have the Everybody's Juicin IPA as I had one last year at this time and it was amazing as hell and so wanted to have another one at the source and see if it was as good as I remember. And yes, it was as good as I remember, it's one of the best IPA's I've had in a long time, it's not hop forward so if that's your thing it won't be your favorite, however it's so smooth and has a fresh quality to it that can't be ignored. Again not a big hop bomb and doesn't finish really hoppy, but overall juicy flavor is amazing and just goes down so smooth. It's the kind of beer you could have many of and then are like man I drank a lot of IPAs I'm kinda wasted. Anyway, the beer is good but not my favorite brewery to visit. It's more like a bar than a brewery, there's loud ass music and TV's and it's just more a bar scene than a chill brewery. It's weird to me that's what they were going for since it's in the middle of a business park, it's not like you can walk outside and continue the party at another bar down the street, there's nothing around here, it's a freaking business park. I came on a Sunday afternoon so it's not like it was Saturday night, but the place just has bar scene written all over it. Also the tap jockey who poured my beers was not very friendly, she had no interest in telling me anything about the many different IPAs they brew, just pick one and get the hell out. It's not like i wanted to beer geek out with her, just tell me something about the choices since there are many but she was having none of it. If the people pouring the beer aren't friendly that's a bad sign and that's what happened here. There were also a ton of dogs here, and I love dogs but it was at the point you couldn't walk anywhere without tripping over one. And some jackass brought his pit bull in here and had all the other dogs bark at him, so not only were there tons of dogs many were not well behaved. Anyway, good beer but not my type of place so if I come back it would be to fill a growler and that's it. read more

Half a star off because they don't have flights--two 5oz tasters at a time for $2-3 each depending on the beer. Maybe it is just as well, since seating is hard to find...there is a lot of it, but on a Thursday at 5pm the place is already full. It is pretty here, and they are clearly making an effort to ensure you enjoy the full experience. Lots of nice woods, finished walls, art, plants, even a fountain made from kegs. And, a tree. A dead one, but it looks cool and they have lights strung from it. Their logo is a root system growing into a pint glass, so it works. I found it somewhat loud with so many people, and it was a little difficult to communicate with the bartenders--certainly nothing more than ordering was possible. Burgeon has ten taps, but during my visit three were marked "out" on the menu. Burgeon Beer Company is an IPA heaven! I was blown away at the smoothness of their Hitched On Haze Single IPA. It is hazy, not too bitter, tastes fresh, and every sip tantalized me to take another sip, and another... Their double IPA is just as enjoyable! Their environment is cool but the place can get crowded on week-ends. It is nice that they now offer their beers in cans, which seem to stay fresh (versus bottles.) Their prices are a little higher than one would expect, but once you taste the quality of their beers, you'll be hooked. read more

This is a little gem in Carlsbad. We came by on a Sunday afternoon and we had 6 tasters and one normal size beer. The tasters are small shots that you can get for 2 dollars each so you get to try most or all of the available flavors. I personally struggle with IPA's but I had two sour beers (mango and strawberry flavors) that were delicious. We will definitely come back and try more flavors. This is a great community brewery. For starters, the tasting room itself is an elegant place to be. As soon as you walk in you can tell that there's money behind this venture. The theme and design are cohesive and pleasant, and it's just a nice place to be. They don't offer food but they have a consistent presence from various food vendors. Hopefully that won't change with the recent law change, but I don't follow local politics closely enough to know if it would apply here. "But what about the beer?" It's good. I appreciate that the menu isn't 95% IPA. I've sampled enough of the menu at this point to say that all of the beers are well made, and there should be something for every palette here. My favorites so far have been Moo Moo Farm and Burl. I say this is a good community brewery because it just feels very close knit. Every time I've been in, you hear the staff greeting clients in a knowing fashion. They do activities like beer yoga and fitness classes a couple of times a month. They're still fairly new, but they threw a Super Bowl party, and I get the sense that more events will be on the horizon. Overall, this is a place you should add to your list of breweries to visit. Or list of places to kill a Saturday or Sunday. Or list of place to just go to. read more

Heard about this place via untappd trending beers and I'm glad I came. We ordered 5 samplers and all were top notch! They do mostly IPA, but have a lot of different styles. We ordered the Double Tree, Seasonal Veggies, and From Concentrate. All were very different and tasty. We also ordered the Dutchman's Pipe which is a vanilla bean espresso stout. This was our favorite beer. The flavors are spectacular and very well balanced. The brewery has some cool tree-related decorations. My favorite brewery in North County! I can honestly say there hasn't been one beer that I've tried @ Burgeon that I didn't like. Their IPAs knock it out of the park. Mixed Greens DIPA has been my favorite so far but the Thuja is a close 2nd. Their Moo Moo Milk is an awesome Milk Stout (and I usually dont even like milk stouts!) The atmosphere is always chill, even when they are packed. The space is set up really well. I've come here and just sat at the bar for a few pints, grabbed a growler for a party, come with friends and posted up at a table with a board game, and came on a date and ate at the food truck outside for dinner- always been a great time! The staff is SUPER friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. Cait is my favorite. You can tell everyone has a passion for beer. Beer lovers definitely need to check this place out! read more

This place rocks! Really cool warehouse with live edge wood everywhere and a really neat homemade shuffle board table. Beers are fantastic, staff very friendly and fast. We originally went on a Friday around 5:00pm and it was packed a lot of folks making a pit stop from all the start up companies near by. Love that they are dog friendly as long as you have your pet on a leash. That usually have a food truck out front and you are allowed to bring the food inside. Lots of parking, but would love if they had some live music in the future. We just went back with a bunch of neighbors last Sunday and had a blast. read more

Burgeon Beer Company is a great shiny new addition to the very fantastic Hop Highway that is North County San Diego (along the 78 freeway). Burgeon has burst onto the local beer scene in great fashion and it is good to see they seem to have their growlers in a row (pardon the craft beer humor). Stopping in on opening day for their "soft opening" I was met with what appeared to be a well oiled beer machine. The decently sized, naturally themed and well appointed tasting room was almost standing room only yet no one seemed to be lacking in libation or company. I was impressed that all the staff seemed to be well involved in their roles and even though the line for beer appeared daunting, I wasn't without a full glass for very long at all. I have seen many a soft opening that does not go nearly half this smooth. On this visit I was able to try both their brown ale as well as one of the IPAs that they had on tap and both were good. I wouldn't mind drinking them again. The selection of 10 or so beers that they had going looked good and fairly accessible to your average beer drinker. But look for some more extreme offerings as they get their production feet under them and moving for sure. I am excited to try more of their beers and see what is in store for this new operation and you should be too. read more
