Been trying to get to this place for a while and finally had the chance today. The service, the vibe, the food, everything was just right. Maybe on the pricey side but I think it was very fair for the quality they serve. On a Sunday afternoon it was a constant stream of customers, but they have some indoor seating and plenty of covered outdoor seating with misters. Ketchup and water dispenser available along with packaged condiments like more ketchup, mustard, mayo, and even malt vinegar. Names are called on the speaker and they have several windows to pick up at. Orders are placed inside or outside at the window. It's pretty neat and makes for a perfect blend of updated/nice with great old school charm. I ordered the Guido (pastrami burger), halfsies (family size of fries and onion rings, opted for waffle fries), and a vanilla twisty with heath bar. The Guido is excellent, but you have to know what you're in for. With the pastrami and the deli mustard, it tastes overwhelmingly like a pastrami sandwich and less like a burger. But the patty, cheese, and veggies do add something to it. It's also very messy, but it was delicious. The onion rings were excellent. They have that smooth batter style, sorta kinda like tempura. My wife prefers the panko style so she was more into the fries. For the fries, they were good but I'd probably opt for normal fries next time instead of waffle fries. I was expecting something somewhat similar to chick fil a, but these were a little on the thicker side and almost had the texture of potato wedges. I'm also not a big fry seasoning guy, and these were well seasoned. But that's a me thing. We still ate them all and you know when I come back I'm not leaving here without fries. The twisty was really good. I might be the only one, but I'm such a sucker for heath bar when I saw it on the menu I had to order it. The ice cream was really good quality. Had a great texture and taste. They were generous with the heath bar. I'm aware I took down a disgusting amount of food, but I think if I could change one thing I'd get the larger size of the twisty next time. It was really good. Wish they had a location closer than 30 mins up the hill, but that won't stop me. Note that my wife asked about the black bean patty and it has cheese in it so it is vegetarian but not dairy free or vegan. So if you go that way, there's that. I went w the Guido adding pastrami to their 1/3 lb patty. Their homemade burger sauce is a thousand island relative. Maybe a touch too much sauce but uber tasty. My wife had the Double D burger - double the patty!!! The waffle fries were well prepared and wonderfully seasoned - maybe some of the best fries seasoning in a long while. Mom took on the "cream" side w a Mocha Malt. It was thick and wonderful. The place is a counter order then pick up but that's just fine. Every and anytime we're in the area, we've stopped by Burger & Cream just because its a SOLID spot to get a burger, fries and/or a sweet treat! Order at the window outside or go inside. Bathrooms were located on the side of the building. On the other side of the building, you'll see outdoor seating which is perfect if you plan on dining with your dog. Food orders come out fairly quick as well so come hungry and ready to eat. I've only tried their burgers, onion rings, fries, waffle fries, chicken tenders and shakes. I have yet to try the other options on their menu but tempted to try their fish and chips next time. I appreciate that they have a kids menu since my daughters usually don't have a huge appetite. Upon arriving on a Saturday evening, this place was busy, and the vibes seemed great. I love that there's the option of indoor and outdoor seating. You can also order outside or inside. It took about 15 mins for my order but worth it for fresh food. For the sauces, they offered a variety including spicy thousand island, ranch, and etc. The burgers and onions rings were high quality and delicious. I was wondering if the burgers came with sides since they are in the pricier side, but it doesn't. But after eating my meal, I was pretty satisfied and everything tasted great, that the prices were justified. After a hike, I was looking for something to replenish my energy and this place did NOT disappoint! The parking lot is a fair size, but it seemed to fill up quickly. There was a good amount of outdoor seating along with a few tables inside as well. The vibe there was pretty lively and fun, almost reminded me of old-time burger joints. After ordering my Spicy Johnny burger and onion rings, it only took about 15 minutes to receive it, which is understandable because the food is fresh and made to order! At first glance, it worried me that the burgers seemed slightly small and I was worried I would still be hungry afterwards. However, I was decently satisfied after eating (although I do still wish it was slightly bigger). The burger was packed with flavor and extremely juicy. The spice on it packed a decent punch that satisfied my tastebuds! And the onion rings were great! They weren't hot when I received them, but they were still crunchy. My fish sandwich was not overly flavorful which enabled me to truly enjoy the fish's crispy texture and the bun's softness. I also appreciated how flexible the restaurant was in preparing my milkshake as it combined both chocolate and mint together. I would've liked if the milkshake's ice-cream was a more organic or a locally-made source rather than using the Ghirardelli brand. The first time here, we didn't have much time but after looking at their menu, we landed on the Guido, which is a burger with a lot of pastrami on it, and a chocolate milkshake. I have had pastrami burgers at at least two dozen other places and this was my favorite so far. You can tell, they use high quality ingredients and that's especially important with pastrami. You can tell they take pride in their food, so this time when we were in auburn, we picked the Guido again, added half fries, half onion rings, and another chocolate shake. The rings and fries were perfect. It's hard to get onion rings that aren't greasy but neither the fries nor onion rings were. The burger to pastrami ratio was generous and perfect. The chocolate shake was a wonderful, old fashioned, real ice cream shake. I plan on visiting Burger & Cream every time I visit Auburn. The hot dog is 1/4 pound split grilled served on a brioche bun $7.50. The burger and hot dog buns are grilled giving it a slightly caramelized and nutty flavor. The beef taco is ground angus served on a grilled flour tortilla $3.50. For the taco, the cheese was a slice of American. Due to the heat of the ground beef, it melts a bit creating a beautiful rippled, slightly bubbled up slice. They even offer a a dairy free, vegan friendly Dole Whip. It hardly slowed down for the few hours I was there. However, the wait for the food wasn't too bad around 15-30 minutes. The ice cream orders were quick, ready in seconds, at most 2 minutes. Haven't visited a Burgers and Cream location in a few years, but I still remember how good the burgers were--and to this day, people still swear by it. I'm rarely close enough to one to justify the stop, but work had me in the area, so I had to swing by. I ordered the Spicy Johnny with a side of small fries and ate outside since the weather was nice. Probably took no more than 8 minutes from the time I ordered and was a fair price. Let's talk fries. They were thick, insanely crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. I'm a fry enjoyer--I'll eat them soggy, undercooked, overcooked, whatever. I love fries. But once you've had a truly good fry, you start noticing the details... the nuance. And these? Borderline perfect. The texture was phenomenal, and they were salted just right. As for the burger--I'm always down for bacon and jalapeños, so the Spicy Johnny was a no-brainer. The worker even recommended it, even though I was probably already going to order it anyway. The bun was sturdy and fresh, the red onions were sweet (must've been rinsed or soaked), and the patty? Amazing. The flavor was somewhere between a backyard family BBQ and a classic diner burger. You can tell they're not lying about their beef blend; it's noticeable in every bite. Whatever sauce they had on there was addicting. My only complaint was that the cheese quite literally got lost in the sauce. Would I drive 45 minutes just for this burger? Probably not. But do I wish they had one in Sacramento? 100%. Better than the mandarin milkshake I had from a local farm. Smooth, thick, creamy with a fresh orange juice flavor. If you love the Orange Creamsicle bar, you'll enjoy this. So sad that it's only available a limited time during local mandarin orange season. I also highly recommend the CHICKEN TACO and BEEF TACO. The tacos are large, not street taco size. The flour tortillas are grilled on the flat top, so they're lightly crisped. Toppings include lettuce, tomato, and onion. The $4.20 Chicken Taco is overflowing with diced chicken breast with Tillamook Cheddar. I feel like I am making a healthier choice by choosing chicken. Because there was so much chicken, I didn't notice the cheese as much. The slightly less expensive $3.50 Beef Taco has Angus ground beef with melty American cheese. If you want to taste your cheese, go with this tasty Beef Taco. FYI: I asked about the $3.30 Burrito. It comes frozen and is deep fried. If I recall correctly, it contains ground beef and beans. The burgers are very charred, dry, lean, and seem like they were tossed on the grill frozen or not thawed properly. I see that the owner claims they are never frozen, but that's just simply not true. A non frozen patty doesn't have the consistency of chicken liver, spongy, and crumbly. I just can't believe that people think these patties are good. They must not have that much experience with real beef patties. No seasoning on the patties whatsoever, leaving a bland burger. Also putting the tomato on the bottom bun which creates a very soggy bottom bun. Wouldn't be an issue if the buns were thicker. The thousand island sauce is generic too and I could barely taste it. The twisties were good and the waffle fries are good. The onion rings leave something to be desired. The breading is almost stale. The presentation of the burgers is solid. Nice cardboard box and wrapping of burger and fries is solid. For just over $50 for 2 meals I'll definitely not go back though. Way too expensive for rookie quality burgers and basic ice cream. Spend half as much money getting way higher quality burgers and cream at Taylor's. The service was okay. There wasn't very much service being done other than take order and call you up to give order. It's very confusing to order, however. There's a line outside to an ordering window, and you can also go inside (where it is extremely stuffy), and order. No indication of what you are supposed to do, so walking up and going inside to order we stand there, a worker comes up says hello, sees we are still looking and just walks away. No one ever comes back to us for about 2-3 minutes as people coming in next to us get door dash orders, so I figure okay I guess we order outside then. We walk outside to get in that line. Come to find out you can also order inside too as the people coming in after us go to do it with zero problems and get ordered immediately? There needs to be at least a simple sign. The people that came up behind us in line outside asked us how it works as they were also confused which line you go to order. Overall not an amazing experience, and I would be okay with everything (except the extremely dry and seasonless burgers) if it wasn't so expensive. 2 burgers, waffle fries, onion rings, and 2 "twisties" costing $52 for subpar quality is just outrageous. The burgers we ordered were cooked very well, the fries and onion rings were also great. My favorite was the banana cream twisters - it had so many banana chunks in it. I am taking away a few stars for my experience eating inside the restaurant. The woman taking our order could not get our order right as we were ordering. We had to repeat our order to her 3 times. We asked for both ice creams to come out after our food. Our first ice cream came out immediately. When I went to the counter, I told them it was supposed to come out after my food. Their response was they would put it in the fridge until I was ready. I asked if it would melt in the fridge, since we still hadn't received our food, I wouldn't get to the ice cream for 15 min at least, and she assured me it wouldn't. Our food came and they forgot to put raw onions on my burger even though I ordered it with both kinds of onions. They left off the spicy sauce that we ordered on the side, so we had to ask for that again. After we finished, I went back to the counter to get my ice cream. I waited at least 5 minutes until someone noticed me, even though workers were walking by me constantly. And surprise surprise, my ice cream was half melted. Again, the food was good. There's a small indoor area with a few tables, and a larger outdoor area with more, which means it gets a lot busier during the warmer months than the cold ones. But regardless of how busy it is you'll never wait too long for your food. The burgers are cooked to a perfect medium, which isn't easy to do, and there are several flavors to choose from. All of the sides are good, but the waffle fries have always taken the #1 spot for me. Finally, the shakes are all made with soft serve chocolate or vanilla ice cream, and you can choose between dozens of fillings or candies. Came in for a boss burger and side of chili cheese fries. They were out of chili! Decided to try the cheesy fries piggy style. Idk why its called piggy style its just melted cheese with grilled onions and a thousand island like sauce on it. Piggy to me would imply bacon, but I guess that's not the case. They were alright, but the chili cheese fries are much better. They also had to redo them as I paid for piggy style, but got plain cheese. I then asked about bacon and was told no so i asked why they were called piggy style with no respinse. I also ordered the peach shake as it was the seasonal special. In the past with seasonal shakes they have been exceptional I have had both the mandarin and pumpkin pie. This shake size large was not as large as the others I was told it was due to supply of peaches. I was curious as to why even offer it then. Well I was highly disappointed with my large peach shake for $12 it was not very peachy in flavors and no peach chunks all I kept ducking through the straw was big chunks of peach skin, not very appetizing. Burgers and Cream in Auburn is a charming, small spot with a relaxed, outdoor-focused vibe. Inside, there are about six or seven tables, and outside there are eight more. Even on hot days, the outdoor area is comfortable thanks to a misting system that goes off every few minutes to help keep things cool. You can place your order online, but from my experience, it's actually faster to just order at the counter. I ordered ahead on my phone, and my friends who arrived later and ordered in person received their food before I did. There's also an outdoor window where you can pick up your food, though I'm not sure if orders can be placed there. I liked that they use an intercom to call out names when orders are ready, and it's loud enough that you can hear it even from the restrooms, which are private single-stall bathrooms. The food itself was good, with the ice cream standing out the most. They offer it in a variety of ways like cones, twist-style mixes with multiple flavors in a cup, floats, and sundaes. It's thick, creamy, and rich, which I really enjoyed. I tried the chili cheese fries, and they were a highlight--the chili was flavorful, the fries had a great crisp, and the serving size was generous for the price. While the menu leans heavily toward burgers, chicken sandwiches, and tenders, they also offer items like corn dogs and have a full kids menu. My friends liked the burgers, saying they were solid. One thing to keep in mind is that burgers don't come with fries, which feels a little steep given that most of them are priced over ten dollars. They do offer different cuts like regular fries, waffle fries, and onion rings, and the onion rings were a good portion. I didn't love the chicken strips personally, though others in my group thought they were good. Their sauces, especially the spicy ranch with pickled jalapeño, were definitely a hit. The service was quick and friendly, and the staff kept things moving smoothly despite the crowd we came with. The food overall was satisfying, and the space has a fun, casual feel. While some of the pricing could be a bit more competitive--especially with burgers not including sides--the quality of the food and the atmosphere make it a worthwhile stop. read more
