Ever since moving to the area, we've been meaning to go here. Saw they were open at 8am. Full menu except for Dinner is available for breakfast. Theres only the cook and busser. Food was ready pretty quick. They were nice and told us to try their salsa. The ambiance was giving old, retro-y, somewhat clean place. Its pretty spacious. Lots of seating and different tvs on. Few arcade games and quarter machines for tattoos and toys. We ordered to-go the Camarillo Burger and the Big Barn Breakfast. Camarillo burger was a nice fresh tasting cheesy burger. Couldn't really taste the avocado but it was good. Fries were freshly fried and salted. The Barn Breakfast came with Eggs, Toast, sausage or bacon, and home potatoes. Loved that they had options for bread (ie. sourdough, wheat, etc) Got the sausage and it was a classic round patty sausage. Potatoes were a bit undercooked but came with a nice portion and was well buttered. Their green salsa had a strong kick but the flavor was delicious! Overall , will definitely come back to try more!

Pastrami burger and onion rings were good. For the burger, good size and portion of ingredients as the whole burger stayed in intact with and without the wrapper. The taste was good, only preference were to include pickles but flavor came along well with mustard and ranch on the side. Onion rings were fried well and came in small and big, not too big rings. Overall good quality. Service was thorough and simply helpful, can't complain. Ambiance was nice as the restaurant was small but enough seats all around. In addition fun arcade and slot and prize machine areas for kids or anyone. Good experience, would come here again!

Came by for a quick bite right before closing. Thought we might get turned away, but we weren't. If you want home style burgers with better than home fries, this is a must try!!

The restaurant itself is fairly small and feels intimate. With so few tables, I think a reservation is a god idea. Ely, our server, came by right away to get our drink orders and answer questions about the menu. With a warm smile, she makes you feel very welcome. The paella is only served on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Three of us decided to share the shrimp tacos ($17). The dish has 3 small soft shell tacos with shrimp and tomato slivers (see photo) and a sauce - delish! Then came the paella ($55). Brought to the table in a hot skillet. Terrific presentation (see photo). Saffron rice covered with a ton of pork, chicken and sausage, a cut open cooked lime, and other goodies. WOW!!! Terrific dish. The menu describes it as feeding 2. We were 3 hungry diners and didn't come close to being able to finish it. My friend, the non-paella eater, ordered the salmon ($30). Huge piece of salmon over a bed of what appeared to be sautéed veggies. Beautiful presentation (sorry, forgot to photo) and he said it was delish. Lovely ambiance, excellent attentive service, outstanding food at reasonable prices. We will be back. Definitely for the meat paella.

We ordered an iced tea ($4.00), TO Honey I'm Blonde ($7.75), Stone Buenaveza ($8.25), Limoncello Mascarpone Cake ($7.50), and the "special cheesecake" ($9.50). With $2.68 in tax, the total was $39.68 before tip. Despite the word "tavern" in the name, this place is family friendly. During our visit, there were two large group gatherings (with kids) happening at the same time. The interior is spacious but can get noisy due to the hard surfaces. However, when the weather cooperates, there are outdoor patios available in both the front and back. Although the color palette of the interior décor is dark, the space feels clean and comfortable. There's a variety of seating options--booths, tables, high-tops, and communal tables. I'm sure the pastries on the menu came from a third-party vendor, but they were really good. (Edit to follow.) * The business owner informs me that the pastries are actually made in house! They are very good--so save room for dessert. * Our server Julie was a great hostess.

I don't think there's a bad seat in the house, but we always love to sit outside so that we have a really good view of the aircraft coming and going. I tried the BLT and, oh my!!! One of the best I've had, with lots of thick cut bacon, very crisp, lots of lettuce, tomato and mayo (I ordered it as-is). Half was the size of a regular sandwich so the other half went home with me! RRR ordered the triple decker club on sourdough and loved his as well. Half of his went home also. We both got the cole slaw as our side which has a little pineapple in it. I found it ok, RRR really liked it. We shared a special milkshake, pistachio, and it was heavenly, highly recommended. Service was perfect, there when needed but not overbearing. We so appreciate well-trained staff! Highly recommended.

Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular…read morethey are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.
