smash burger w/lettuce & tomato, side 'o fries & mandarin jarritos.
    Chris C.

A homey, cozy burger shack that runs alongside Highway 1 in a sleepy seaside town that offers choices of regular, smash and some specialty burgers. the smash burger's charbroiled perfectly and I opted to add lettuce and tomato for some fresh elements though I wish the buns were toasted for some texture. the salt level on the fries were good and arrived crispy. I'll have to come back and try the Peruvian and maybe even those cut up dogs on fries, as well. they offer some beers, including IPAs and Jarritos (mandarin flavored). plenty of parking around the area.

Delicious burger, made to my request of medium rare. I got the Peruvian burger. I forgot to take a "before" picture. I will go there again and again. They also have Mexican bottle cokes and a good selection of beers in can/bottle. Good people behind the counter, too.

    Smash Burger and Fries.

No frills, straight forward smash burger and fries for $15. Grilled onions, American cheese & pickles. The fries could have used another minute in the fryer but im rating the burger. Bigger than most smash burgers ive had. I will come back.

Smash burger x 2, sweet potato fries, onion rings and chicken sandwich

Second time... the smash burger was just as good as last time! I will probably try the Peruvian burger next time but wondered how spicy it would be.

Smash burger with lettuce, tomato, and egg

I had two smash burgers. One with tomato, lettuce, and egg ... and the other with tomato, lettuce, bacon, and mushroom. I preferred the bacon mushroom one. Both were well seasoned and tasted good, with nice textures. They were also so juicy that I had to eat them fast since the bread was getting soaked underneath from all of the juice. I enjoyed the fries which were crispy outside and soft inside I would have rathered a different type of bread since I don't care much for potato bread. That kind is a bit sweet but that's just me. Service was friendly and nice. Ambiance was relaxed and comfortable.

Super excited to see a locally owned burger joint pop up in town. Let the pictures speak for themselves! Great location, tasty burger. Fries are perfect crisp on outside and soft on the inside. Ambiance is cozy. You order at the counter and seat yourself, food is then brought out. Simple and good - a must visit for anyone with that burger and fries craving! Go now!!!

First time here. This is the same (very nice) owners/family that moved down the street. You order at the counter- no table service- but they do deliver your food to your table. We shared the fries - they were pretty heavy handed with the salt, next time I would ask for less. Good basic burgers.

The menu items we wanted were also available from the kiosk. There was a frequent customer that came just for the key lime pie so I had to try it. It was good and I wouldn't mind getting it again. Would I come back just for that? Probably not. Everything tasted as expected but nothing really stood out as something I have to come back for. I wouldn't mind coming back again though since I do love fried calamari and fish n chips. 3.5 rounded up.

I found Barbara's on Yelp--solid 4-star rating, good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived and were told there was about a 20-minute wait, which felt reasonable for a weekend seafood spot. Once we were seated, things started off fine, but the experience quickly became a bit frustrating. There seemed to be a breakdown in communication with our server regarding our order. We placed everything clearly, but when the food came out, it wasn't what we had ordered. Instead of just clarifying or correcting it, we were told the order had been placed incorrectly on our side and were asked to reorder. Unfortunately, we were also still charged for the original order, which made the situation feel even more confusing. We also ordered the clam chowder, which was honestly disappointing. From the very first spoonful to the last, there was a consistent gritty, sandy texture that made it difficult to enjoy at all. It took away from what is usually a comfort dish, especially in a coastal town where you expect it to shine. On a positive note, our timing coincided with sunset, and the view from the window was absolutely stunning. Watching the sun dip over the water while dining added a really beautiful moment to the experience, and the scenery itself was honestly the highlight of the visit. The setting itself is nice and the location is convenient if you're exploring Half Moon Bay, but based on our experience, the execution on both service and food quality didn't match the expectations set by the rating. Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity. With a bit more attention to order accuracy and consistency in the kitchen, this place could easily live up to its Yelp reputation--but unfortunately, that wasn't our experience that day.

It's the only reason I come to 7 Mile House during Asian History Month that aims for Filipino fun. My specialty drink: Ube Colada (non-alcoholic). I want to try the Lambanóg, but it's few years late and I wouldn't mind since I prefer any drink that's zero proof. This creamy purple smoothie is so refreshing, I wouldn't mind getting a brain freeze. Main course? Actually, I take something out of the lunch menu, which is Beyond Burger; pickles at the top, lettuce, tomato, and cheese; old school American style with a plant based patty! I eat the fries first since they're fresh and chewy. Wish I stick around for an appetizer or a salad; but given that there's several people dining indoors while few of us outdoors, I'll have to pass. Before I walk a couple of blocks toward 7 Mile House, I noticed the gas prices for both gas stations are just as high as near my neighborhood. I'll be wondering how long will a famous family run restaurant can go an extra mile before it runs out of steam. My best bet is that we must support each other as local communities, just like how the 7 Mile House of today had kept us together for generations.

The greeters were pleasant, with seating also instant, with some view of the Pacific Ocean. We were a party of three (my wife, her cousin, and I). No cocktails; we opted for soft drinks. The service was attentive, and we lacked for nothing. My only observation was the bill came to over $320 with tip for three sandwiches (I have eaten at higher-end places many times, but fine dining has gotten a bit pricey). With rights to stroll on the beach after the meal if you wish, part of what you get is the experience. Still, I recommend Nick's for a very special meal with folks you care about. We came on what looked like and felt like a locals regular night full of families and well dressed seniors. I hate being seated by a busser station or kitchen listening to the noise or the staff thinking they can talk crap about customers because they are stacking dishes or running a credit card but that is exactly what happened. Being hangery (hungry-angry) makes us change our dining standards. This being said we had to listen to the young staff's complaining. My partner ordered and received a large seafood salad and I ordered fish and chips. My food tasted like a large refrigerator Orida fish patty that was fried and large slices of potatoes that came out of the same oil. Being from the San Francisco bay area I compare all my sea food to that and have to say that I was greatly disappointed with the lack of taste even though I see that it was "handmade beer batter" dish. Unfortunately, I dont have too many positive things to say about this place except it is a good place to cure hugry.

I also asked for pickles and onions to be added. The pickles were fine, but I wish the onions had been grilled or cooked in some way--they were very strong tasting raw. Still, the overall flavor profile was satisfying and meat super juicy. I paired it with garlic fries, and let me tell you, they are NO JOKE. Super garlic and salty with tons of flavor. Both items came packaged in compostable wrap, which I appreciated BUT there wasn't a compost bin nearby that I could see. The only downside? The garlic was almost too overwhelming.
