I've been here for brunch and dinner and I can confidently say that this place brings the vibes. It has great ambience really cool decor and the staff is also really attentive and friendly most recently. I went for brunch and I ordered the combo silog which is Filipino style. I think the longaniza and bbq pork were good but I'd pass on the Sisig it's a little dry. This place has really unique and fun drinks and cocktails for sharing or individuals too. My boyfriend ordered the chicken loco Moko and the chicken was so juicy and crispy so that is a great brunch option too.

Hula Hoops caught my attention years ago with their Hawaiian- and Asian-fusion-inspired fare. Having moved to the Bay Area from Hawai'i, where I was pampered with this cuisine. I made reservations for Father's Day since my Dad was interested in checking it out as well. Right when I stepped in, I felt like I was in a touristy part of the island with the decor. Lots of tiki and beach items. The space itself isn't too big, so there are some high tops, tables, and an outdoor seating area--but tables are kinda close together. There's a lot of local music playing, which I loved. The staff who served or helped us were nice and friendly. Our food did take a while to come out at times, but we weren't in a rush.0 From the starters, savory entrees, sweet dishes, and veggie options, it was hard to choose among them. We ended up sharing the Spam Fries, which were very flavorful, salty, and crispy. It was good, and I'd recommend it if you like spam! I had the Silog Breakfast with Sisig, and my Dad had the Impossible Loco Moco. I found my dish to be just fine; it didn't blow me away. It was tangy, but I wish there were more flavor. My Dad said his dish was decent. I'd probably order something else if I were to come back. If you're looking for something distinct . Find the restaurant in Westborough Square with parking in the free lot. My little taste of the 808 here makes my Dad and I miss it even more--mahalo Hula Hoops!

I want to like this place... I think the decor is brilliant and the staff is friendly, I just can't get around the food. The portions were good, but everything was just OK. Nothing stood out, nothing was exemplary or scrumptious. Hula Hoops is tucked away in the Westborough Square shopping center in South San Francisco. Parking was not an issue, with plenty of spaces available. The venue itself is not the biggest, however they use their space well. The decor is Polynesian Island theme along with anime and Marvel characters. Very eccentric, I liked it and thought it was unique. The big let down for me was the food... ENTRÉES: ~ Loco Moco Combo (Mochiko Fried Chicken & Kalua Pork) - 2.75/5 It was OK. Good size portion. The Mochiko Fried Chicken was a disappointing and the Kalua Pork was OK. I thought both lacked flavor. Mac salad was also just OK. The bigger issue was the eggs. We asked for over easy, instead we got over cooked eggs. I'm not one to send stuff back to the kitchen or make a fuss. It was just not what we requested. FROM THE SEA: ~ Grilled Squid - 3/5 Meh... We didn't enjoy the texture. The edges were fine, but the body of Squid was rubbery. This could have been much better Dessert: ~ UBE FLAN - 3/5 Presentation is brilliant. That was about it, the taste didn't match the visual presentation. Somehow it was bland. ~ UBE BARS - 3/5 This was just OK. It was more like a dessert bar with a hint of Ube. We also had an issue with their gift cards as well, they were unable to sort it out. We're still waiting to hear back from them. Not sure if Hula Hoops had an off day or we just didn't get the right things. Probably my first and last time here... I do wish them well tho.

I really like this Hawaiian/ Filipino spot in Daly City. I know it's known for their brunch but I went there for dinner and it hit the spot!!! My favorite was the sisig tots and the spam fries, the flavors were so good and flavorful. The server was a little slow but they were so friendly and nice which made the experience better!

This place has a nice island vibe where you can eat indoors or outdoors. We were doubting if we were going to be seated anytime soon since it was Father's Day, but we ended up being seated right away in the tiki room. Also, our server was great, kept on checking on us, giving us suggestions, and entertaining us with some magic tricks. From our server's recommendations, we ended up getting the Lapu Lapu, Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco, Kamehameha BBQ Chicken, Sisig Fried Rice, and Poke Nachos, Ubemisu, and Ube Bars. The Lapu Lapu is a sweet and refreshing drink, definitely something you will like if you want something sweet instead of strong. The Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco was really good. You get the taste of Beef Loco Moco in chicken form. The Chicken also added more of a crunchy texture from the crispy skin while having very moist meat. The Kamehameha BBQ Chicken was also tasty, with the moist meat. The Sisig Fried Rice was really good, being moist and had plenty of Sisig. The Poke Nachos had a decent amount of Poke and Avacado, and had a nice crunch with the Wanton Chips. The Ubemisu was a crowd favorite. I thought it was not going to taste like Ube because of the light color of the Cream, but I was glad to be wrong. It was very moist and thankfully had good Ube flavor. The Ube Bars were not bad. Also, could taste the Ube, but was more dense and just found the Ubemisu better. Overall, great food and service. Definitely would come back here again to try more delicious treats.

Super yummmmmy! Felt like we were back in Hawaii. We got 5 appetizers to share for dinner. They were all so good and fresh. It's a smaller restaurant but we went in a Friday at 7 and didn't have to wait at all they sat us right away. Had a girl singing live inside the restaurant which was nice for a Friday night. Servers were all friendly and helpful. My only 2 complaints would be our mai tais came half way though dinner, and we kind of didn't want them anymore. And 2, the singing was so beautiful but it was a bit loud for such a small restaurant, we were kind of yelling over the table to talk. We will definitely be back to try more of their stuff!!!

For appetizers, we liked the lumpia Shanghai more than the spam musubi. I think the sauce for the poke bowl is based off the one for lumpiang sariwa, but you have the umami aftertaste of soy sauce without the strength of garlic. Loco moco has good gravy. The accompanying mochiko fried chicken reminded us of Jollibee. Seafood pan roast had good scallops and green onion garnish kept the sauce from feeling too heavy.

Reserved on open table for 3:30 pm but since it was traffic, I can't modify my reservation online but it prompted me to call. I was able to get hold of someone & took note of it then hang up without asking for my name. Anyhow, we made it after 15 mins, we got seated bec the place is almost empty. Food is good, a great fusion of filipino & polynesian. Place is small, bet it'll be crowded if full. Service is quick & servings is just enough.

A party of 3 with reservations celebrating a friends birthday. They provided us a table in the back in their unique tiki room which was nicely decorated, quaint and semi private. The service was prompt and attentive. We ordered the poke nachos for appetizer, POG mimosa bucket to share and the coconut drink. We each ordered a dish-I had the silog sisig n pork bbq-I had left overs to take home.

Six of us came to dinner at 6pm on a Saturday night. We didn't know they would have live music. It was hard to talk over the live entertainment. We ordered family style and shared all the dishes. I had a pineapple martini. It was tart just the way I like it. We shared spam fries, sisig fried rice, whole squid, a large short rib with kimchee fried rice, chicken kaarage loco moco, island wings and brussel sprouts. Everything was a little small and pricey. Only about 8 pieces of spam fries in the container. The large squid was actually really good. We also enjoyed the short rib to a tune of $40. Make sure you pay in cash. If you use a credit card they add on 3% service

Went to Hula Hoops in South San Francisco for happy hour with a friend and it was a solid time. We got the Ube Martini and a Mai Tai, both really good and easy to sip on while snacking. For food we kind of went all in on happy hour items: Shanghai lumpia, cheesy tots, truffle fries, kalua pork sliders, and spam musubi. Everything was actually really good and for happy hour pricing it felt like a great deal. Shoutout to our server Maddy who was super sweet and really on it the whole time. Made the experience way better. Only thing that felt a little off was the vibe. I expected more Hawaiian music, but it was mostly EDM and R&B. Also the doors were open so it got pretty cold inside after a while. Overall though, I'd still come back. Good drinks, good food, and good service for a casual happy hour in the Bay.

Great happy hour offerings from 3-530pm week days. Plates are $6-8 average saving a few dollars each plus drink options! 5/5 Lumpia Shanghai were crispy and slightly sweet sour sauce. Really enjoyed I could inhale more 5/5 Bibingka Cornbread is a nice coconut flavor and not too sweet. Soft and delicious 4/5 Kalua Pork Sliders are like a BBQ pulled pork though sweeter flavor profile. Enjoyed the super soft Hawaiian roll 4/5 Spam Musubi was very filling and nice portion. Challenging to bite the seaweed wrapping which was a bit rubbery vs flakey 4/5 Ube Pina Colada was cute presentation and solid flavor and alcohol ratio. There were some hard bits of some ube blocks(?) not fully blended at bottom. Overall a great drink deal since the full price menu is much more Staff was friendly but not a ton of facetime. Note a 3% surcharge using credit card vs paying cash

Second time frequenting Hula Hoops and the experience was really fun, delicious and full of great vibes :) Hawaiin Filipino Brunch goodness with a twist on the fun tiki bar vibes you'd get! Our server this time around was very full of energy (wish we got her name haha) but we swear the tips she gave us for each dish..... she aced the exam basically! Bring a group for a great time with delicious filling bites! Onto the foodie review: Spam fries: GO HERE FOR THIS!! The aiolis all mixed together with salty crunchy good bites Chicken adobo / Longanisa / tocino silog combo! A classic breakfast staple with delicious garlic rice, a beautiful runny egg paired with a palette cleansing vinegar sauce! Honestly got this for my self but easily shareable with a table of 3!! Tuna Poke Nachos: Simple, beautifully plated like it's Michelin with a light sweet soy akin sauce. A great starter to the brunch!! Scorpion bowl: Their spin on a gigantic flaming fish bowl! Wow this was really strong but delicious! After the server recommended cinnamon (made the drink look ugly so take a photo for the gram sbforehand hah). It definitely changed the profile to mask the alcohol wowww!!!

Is making a reservation necessary? We are planning on coming here ( just a walk in on a weekday (Friday) for a party of 3 once it opens at 11am. Was hoping to be seated of our own choosing, if possible?

Reservations are usually recommended coming here but if you're going first thing when they open, especially on a weekday and not weekend, I think there's a good chance you'll get seated without a reservation

    What time is happy hour?

    Weekdays 4:30pm - 6:00pm

If I'm sitting outside, can I bring my dogs? It's been too hot here in Silicon Valley and I know there's a great dog park nearby. Hee

Yes! I brought my dog there and sat outside- it was a bit on the tight side! My dog is small and had a carrier- I was lucky and had a corner table that brought some shade (-along with the propped umbrella- he was comfy- Hope that helps!

Do you always need a reservation or can you walk in for a table?

U can walk in at anytime. On weekdays it’s easier with no wait. On weekends, there’s usually a wait.

About how many can you seat outside?

Good morning! We can seat roughly 20 or so guests in our patio seating, weather and all things considered.

There's not a cover charge to enter, but if you sit at a table and "dine in", a $20 per person entertainment fee is added to the final check. I was really annoyed by this, especially because I didn't order anything since I thought we were bar hopping. In the end, the math didn't make any sense. I calculated percentages on the final receipt to determine what I owed the person who paid the check. The gratuity (15%) only applied to the food and cocktails my friends purchased, but tax was added to the entertainment fee ($100 for my group of 5) and just the food but not alcohol. In the end, I paid my friend $22 for the space I took up at our table. Music was extremely loud and not very good when I first entered but improved slightly when the live band performed on the boat. Overall, this place was not the vibe. It felt touristy, not surprising since it's located in a hotel. I can see how it could appeal to certain audiences, but still, I find it absurd to charge guests just to sit at a table with their friends. If the venue wants to recover the costs of providing the live entertainment, then they should set expectations up front by either charging cover at the door or making tickets available to purchase in advance because essentially, I could've entered separately from my friends, ordered a drink at the bar, and not paid cover, but what's the fun in that.

The trivia nights require one beverage to be purchased per person in the party- I was coming off of a nasty burn in my mouth, so I asked our server what the best nonalcoholic choice would be with no citrus and she suggested the Mocking Bird. I feel that I cannot pass judgment on the Mocking Bird as a beverage since I asked for such an altering modification to the drink itself, but it was just not good without the lime. It tasted too strongly like actual alcohol. I get why they would make a rule about having one drink per patron here for the sake of their business, but I'm personally not sure if it's worth it considering even their mocktails are upwards of $15 with tax and tip. The trivia itself is very fun. There's x amount of rounds and each round is 4 questions, and you can pick whether you want certain questions to be worth 7 points or 3 points if you're certain of the answer. This pushed our team up from 9th place to 8th place! If you also are just not sure of the answer at all, the funniest answer gets a free round of shots. The night we went, the option was milk punch. I would say that it's a cute place to take people visiting from out of town or once in a while, there's also much more seating within the location than at certain other trivia bars.
