Still as amazing as ever! I wanted to update my review because the burger we had tonight (which was the burger of the month) was straight fire!!! And I feel like it deserves to be said. I don't know how they keep coming up with such incredible burgers but they hit it out of the park month after month. Where is food network at?! Diners, Drive ins, and Dives...hello?!! Why has no one filmed this establishment yet and when will they come out with their own burger cook book!? Also to note, the staff was extremely friendly and awesome! The burgers were absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. One thing I really enjoyed was the variety of board games available while waiting for the food. It created a fun, relaxed atmosphere and made the wait time fly by. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning. On a warm day, the dining area became quite uncomfortable, which took away from an otherwise great experience. Adding air conditioning or improving ventilation would make a huge difference and make customers want to stay longer and come back more often. read more

I see there are comments about wait time, but it does say on the menu that times can be longer. I don't think I've ever had an issue whether I've gone alone or with a friend, personally. This is the second year in a row (literally to a day), my boyfriend and I ate at Burger Box. Safe to say this is our favorite, go-to spot in New Paltz! We were there in May 2024 when the restaurant was super busy and in May 2025 when it was only half full. Last year there was obviously a bit of a wait - but we didn't mind since there were games like cards you could borrow to play. This year food came out much faster! Both times the food was f****** amazing! First of all, the burgers are ginormous. I forgot what we had last year, but it was good enough to be our first choice in restaurants this year. I ordered the garlic rosemary burger with the locally sourced, grass fed beef patty. The rosemary onion jam and garlic aioli flavors perfectly fit together. Also the beef tasted very great! My boyfriend had the breakfast burger which he says "was good." He enjoyed it. I saw him drooling for it. The restaurant is not very big, but bigger then you would think from the outside. With different size seatings (booths, high stools and regular tables) they really made a great use of the space. One thing that bothered me was that apparently there was an error with the printer and all the menus had letters that looked like they were printed twice but in different spots. It looked like a bad 3D job, it hurt my eyes to look at it. When asked about it server just said she can read the menu to me, to which i declined because it is quite extensive. I just pulled up the digital version, since they didn't have one menu without the error. That is kind of careless to me, to provide customers with badly printed menus... but I don't know the full story, so I will give them a benefit of doubt because otherwise the service was exceptional both time we visited. Leaving 5 stars but two serious pieces of feedback: 1) burger took over 40 minutes to arrive! Very unusual and not good 2) the regular burger includes tomatoes and pickles, which for some reason are diced, which is worse than the typical burger arrangement of sliced tomato and sliced pickles! Dicing those two results in tomato-pickle detritus falling out of the burger as it's being eaten (see photo), and does nothing positive for the burger. Plus, it obviously takes more work to dice than to slice tomatoes and pickles. I recommend you just slice these ingredients. read more

We decided to walk-in at this place as we see that it was half empty. The moment we were settled in, lots of people were started coming in. We were wrong on what we thought, we probably came on the right time. It's a cute burger place in town. The decoration is pretty neat. I noticed that it is college students favorite joint. We felt old and the same time felt young at heart. My burger is pretty good. I had the garlic rosemary and loved how they did my meat. Though I told how I want it seemed like they have set way of doing it because my friends did not tell the server how they wanted it. The brioche bread was grilled, a plus for that. My smoked salad was a perfect match to my burger. pOne of my friends ordered the frachos out of curiosity. Potato is wider and bigger over the regular fries , all tasted good. We did not imagine a variety of choices for beer and drinks. The place is small but offered huge happiness . I got a root beer float and never been happier on how it was made. Caught in the middle here but giving a benefit of the doubt rating. As we were sitting down we were told 45 minutes for burgers so I appreciate the transparency. Actual time from order to burger in my mouth was over 60 minutes (30 minutes for hot tea). This was my first time here so I don't know if this normal. Full disclosure I only had an 1:15 minutes tops before I absolutely had to leave. If I didn't I might not care so much about the time. The overall ambiance was laid back, and featured warm wood and lighting, and the Jets on TV by the bar. If you eat with your eyes, you would be full the moment you walk in after getting a look at some of the items - and everything just confuses you more about what you want to order. So, me and my friends went on a hiking at Mohonk preserve and the nearest town is New Paltz. As always, there were a lot of cars and people at New Paltz on a Saturday, parking was difficult and the easiest place to find one is near the area of burger box. I was glad that we decided to eat at this joint. Place was clean, not too small, enough tables to get the employees busy and I noticed that costumers are mostly younger people, probably students from a nearby university. It's a nice place to hang out with friends and enjoy either burger, fries, salad, wine and beer. My wife and I decided to share the garlic rosemary burger and smoked Caesar salad, and opted to have root beer float and paradox Pilsner as our drinks. It took sometime before all our orders were served as there are 10 of us in our group. The wait-staff were polite, courteous, pleasant and friendly. I was pleasantly satisfied with taste of my salad and burger even though the wait-staff never asked us our burger option ( rare,medium, well done), I guess they have already preset how they cook the patty. Still, they did a good job on balancing the taste of the meat with the sauce and vegetables. Some of my friends ordered the buffalo frachos, classic fries and parm herb fries (these are all fries), I tried them all and they tasted pretty good. Price is fair. Wide selection of beer and wine. Our 3rd visit on a Saturday. Food as usual was good. Burgers very good. Fries good. The brand of soda they use no so great. Here's the problem. We went on a busy time. Ordered 4 burgers, fries and some chicken appetizers. Waited 1 and half hours for any food to hit the table. The server was nice but overwhelmed and can't speed the kitchen up. Sorry, but that is unacceptable on any level of dining anywhere. If you can't get any food out in a half hour, then you're doing something wrong. Not that many tables to be that behind. Place is understaffed or poorly managed or both. Still will be busy as food trumps all else, but we will not be back for a while as a hour and half is just too long of a wait for a burger and fries. Owner: supply the manager the tools (staff) to properly run the place. Yes, even on a busy weekend! or hire someone who can manage effectively. There were dead bugs on the window sill. The place is tiny as well. No room to move around. The service is horrible. There was about four employees inside and we were the only customers there and still got our order over an hour late. The only good thing about this place is the food but it wasn't that great to the point where I'd ignore everything else. Definitely need an overhaul done the right way. What delicious burgers this place had! So many different flavors of burgers. Made all quite enjoyable. The place was a tad small so gotta catch them when they aren't crowded. We came in a Sunday afternoon. Most of the staff were nice and pleasant. Had a really good beer for the first time I would def get again. Burgers were not overcooked but meat was also seasoned. I would love to give this a much higher rating due to the food being very tasty but we found a quite long peace of hair in the one of the jalapeño popper burgers and instead of our server apologizing (like any normal place) they preceded to act upset and give attitude. When we were all pretty nice about it. So kinda didn't elevate my experience. All in all I would love to return n hopefully we can be received with hairless food and sweeter staff when problems arise. read more

A box I want to come back to! The burgers here are delicious and pack a punch! The portions are great and the burgers are full of flavor! I appreciated the varieties of meat they had including impossible meat! The restaurant is pretty small on the inside, but we came with a party of 6 and fit comfortable! We've only been here a twice, but just love it. The food is so good! I get excited to eat here, especially after hiking. Great flavors, portions and prices! There are places way more expensive with burgers that don't have much to them. Whats really nice is that here they offer substitutions for the protein, cheese, can make items vegan, and have gluten free buns. Although I'm not a vegan and can have gluten, I can imagine how hard it is to find a place that tries to include food restrictions. There was a good atmosphere, casual and cozy with the fairy/string lights and the industrial lighting. I would say this is a great date spot. Now there definitely is a wait for the food, they are very upfront about it, sometimes it might take even longer. The wait is perfect for conversation, if usually convo is harder and a bit awkward, maybe hold off on coming here until after the first date. There are maybe around 12(?) tables and a couple bar seats. Service is great, the servers are very polite and friendly! Onto the food: The flavors and combinations for some of the burger are just so perfect. For appetizers we got hot honey sage fries, garlic fries, and cauliflower sliders. We were almost full just from the sliders, great sauce (it is sticky so be careful with getting it on your clothes) had the perfect sweet and spicy balance. The coleslaw although honestly was just normal coleslaw, still impressed me. Not too mayo-y or soggy like most places. Hot honey sage fries are my favorite fries now, usually sage overpowers other flavors but it went so well with the hot honey. The garlic and dill were also good but a tiny bit underwhelming to me, however my boyfriend loved them. For burgers we tried the horseradish, peanut butter, conca d'oro, garlic rosemary. The burgers are huge and juicy. I was a bit hesitant on the horseradish but it was just amazing. The horseradish crema went great with the arugula, swiss, and mushrooms. Perfect combination! The conca d'oro was also delicious, you cant go wrong with pizza flavored anything really. The basil aioli really tied it together, I really wanted more of it to dip the garlic fries in. My boyfriend had the garlic rosemary and peanut butter burger. I had a bite of both and again just great food. The garlic rosemary burger made me wish I had a bigger stomach. I wanted to take more bites but i had my own burger to finish. I have had a peanut butter burger at different restaurant and it was okay. Exactly what you'd expect, however it was very heavy and had too thick of a peanut butter. So service was pretty good and stayed on top things, plus did not feel rushed to order as well, since we'll it was hard choosing which fries sounded the best to have hah. The breakfast burger was amazing, usually other places just slap a fried egg on top and call it a day, but here, plenty of tomato bacon jam, and a freaking hash brown as well. The egg was gooey and dripped a huge puddle you dip the burger in and same for jam, which was tangy and savor and not cheap on real bacon bits, plus light on tomato which was a plus, plus two patty and they cooked it to medium exactly like I asked, love the burger and man was it messy but in a good way. Truffle Parmesan fries, first glad they seasoned just right and tasted plenty Parmesan cheese , and only a light truffle aftertaste then a burst of it, plus so glad they don't salt bomb the fries, and a huge amount of fries just for small size too. Never had lavender lemonade, but it was alright definitely worth a try and I will say mid tier among all lemonade varieties out there.
