A friend of mine came in last week and literally ate the burger on FaceTime as we were talking and I wanted to reach through the phone and take the burger!! But since phones don't work that way yet, I decided to come on over and I'm so glad I did!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's in a busy shopping center with lots of other restaurants, I haven't noticed them before, but parking was easy and going into the restaurant it was nice and clean, and had good music playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I got to the counter, I asked the cashier her preference on the bbq smash or the chili and she said she'd never had the chili one so that was that. I decided to go with the chili bc it was cold outside and seemed like it was befitting the weather. I placed my order and went to grab my drink. A few things to note, customer service was just ok. Nothing great, she was super quiet and went right back to her phone after I ordered. When I went to grab tea, the machine said they were out of sweet, which is fine, I drink unsweetened, but they had no sweeteners available, which left only soda, which I don't drink. Anywho, went to sit down and wait for my food. Didn't have to wait long, and out come the burger! For the burger and fries, I easily give a 5 out 5 stars. It was plated beautifully, with all the toppings out to shine like the stars they are. The burger edges were glistening and the fries were nice and hot and steamy!! As of course, phone always eats first, I was literally drooling ready to dive in, and that I did and damn! It was soooo good!! I think I inhaled half the sandwich in just a few bites while throwing a fry in there every now and then!! I don't know where some of the 3 stars came in for the burger because for me, it isn't average, it was a star!! Could've just been the day on some of those others! Taste wise it was acceptable but at a 3 score and not a 4. The fries here have a slightly crunchy exterior and I felt they were boring to eat. If I returned I would try the rings instead. Ketchup is served in small containers and the counter staff were friendly. I had hoped the food here was better. I was craving a burger tonight, so I went to google maps and just typed "burger," and this place popped up. Parking was a bit confusing because the spots right in front of the door still have signs for a different business, but I parked there with no issue. I ordered a plain double burger combo with Cajun fries. The employee at the counter was really friendly and suggested I go for a double since they do smash burgers, which are thin, and she also recommended the Cajun fries. Honestly, smash burgers might not be for me. Even with two patties, they were as thin as paper. I ended up cutting off the excess and stacking it on top of the patties to make the burger thicker, but I still mostly tasted bread. As for the Cajun fries, they were so heavily seasoned that I actually started choking--definitely too much for me. I ordered the double smash, no modification to the burger and made it a combo with the fries and drink. Now I've been to Trill, Burger Bodega and Burger-Chan numerous times, they all have fantastic burgers and deserve the praise. Well, Burger House can stand right there with them. The bun was a super soft potato bun, the meat was cooked to perfection, the pickles added a bit of tang and the only thing that needs a slight adjustment is the onions. They were caught in the middle of being raw and grilled. I think they need to be either cooked more or just chop them up and put them on raw. The real winner at Burger House is you, if you get the combo, is just $11. I have a theory as to why they were so empty was: 1. No hype man or celeb style chef behind the store 2. No social media or foodie influencer visits 3. Location in the middle of strip center vs being the anchor. The fries were so crispy, I wish I could have a whole bucket of them. They do t have fountain drink options here but they did have my favorite Coke Zero, so I was very pleased with that.
