I'm very fond of this burger spot. While on the pricier side, the location is convenient, the staff is friendly, the burger options are fun, and the menu has good variety overall. I like that they include calorie counts for their menu items, and sides of sauces are free! I went with the Wagyu Smash burger most recently and enjoyed how flavorful it was while still being easy to eat and not too messy. I had it with a side of truffle aioli and splurged with a Bananas Foster shake, which was a fun flavor and well made. I've had their fries and brussel sprouts in the past and those have always been delicious. Portion sizes are just right imo. Food served on metal trays, fries served either in a fryer basket or in this case...the metal mixing bowl? When I walked in this place, I swear I could hear "Little Talks" from Of Monsters and Men playing in my head. The decor of this place definitely lived up to the stereotypes! First time visit and everything was beyond expectations! In house made buns, that will draw you in with the scent alone. I had a hard time choosing which burger I wanted but I ended up with the El Diablo which was just spicy enough with a tiny kick. Their fries are hand cut and I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and it was large enough to share. A friend ordered the fried brussels which were just as amazing as a the fries. I wish there was a side option as the regular order is huge but if you're sharing it's perfect. I look forward to visiting again to try something else. So the "Hopdoddy burger bar" was recommended to me. The fist thing I noticed was the total and complete absence of any burgers on their menu. Yes, it has a section labeled "burgers" but all I saw were a variety of CHEESEburgers. Want creamy goat cheese? They got it. Want pepper Jack cheese? They got it. In fact they have like 8 different types of $12 to $16 CHEESEburgers. Just not a single burger to be seen. Order your food, fill your drink, get seated and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. Lots of drink choices and giant open bar with great alcoholic drink options. Currently they have a $5 vodka lemonade that I regret not getting but the watermelon cucumber juice did not disappoint. Very refreshing on a Texas summer day especially. The nacho fries were layered with flavors! So good! I bet you could ask for a patty to make that a complete meal. The only thing I would have liked to see is fresher avocado and maybe add a side of jalapeños and shredded lettuce. The Thunderbird in a bowl was a game changer for me and the bowls may be what I'll start ordering from there from now on. Food was great as always, however had a rather unpleasant experience with the bartender Giselle. We ordered and had to wait over 15 minutes before our drinks (3 draft beers) came out. It was especially frustrating that our table was seated next to the bar and could see her on her phone for several minutes, and take orders from customers sitting at the bar and make their drinks while our tickets sat at the side. It wasn't until we asked the server who brought our full meal out if there was an issue with the bar that she started to make our drinks (the only tickets that were sitting there uncompleted more than 15 minutes after we ordered and 10 after receiving our full meals). the most frustrating part of this is that when we did receive our drinks Giselle, the bartender slammed them on our table with a dirty look, not saying a word to any of us. I understand that things happen in restaurants, but she was absolutely not busy, had no other tickets other than our tables and still spent 15 minutes standing around not working and only made our drinks because we asked the server to ask. Additionally, I found some of her hygiene practices slightly concerning. I watched her blow her nose into a tissue and leave it on the side of the bar multiple times. She was the only worker in the restaurant with without her hair pulled up, despite serving drinks and food still and was frequently running her hands through her long unkempt hair and touching glasses that customers were drinking out of. This is officially my favorite place to get brussels sprouts. The bowl is shareable and perfect for two people. I opted for the Parmesan brussels sprouts and they were cooked perfectly. What happened to their big, gorgeous burgers? Every once in a while I forget they're not like they used to be and I get suckered back. The beef patties used to be big and juicy. Now they're small, thin, and look to be preformed frozen. The mushrooms on the "mushroom" burger are scarce. (They used to be piled high with delicious mushroom goodness.) I do like how they're not cooked medium well, but the flavor of the medium cook on the patty was lost, which is why I'm thinking they're from frozen. Who knows? It's just what they taste like now. There's got to be a better burger experience in the Vintage Park area. I'm on a mission to find it. One star was earned for their truffle fries. They come out in a huge bowl, and I'd have no problem devouring the entire bowl if I didn't have to share. Their Brussels sprouts are really good too. Crispy and delicate. I was contacted by the regional manager to come back and give a second try. I decided to bring the family and fine in to really give the best review and opportunity I could. I will start with the food. The fries were a night and day difference this time. They came out crispy, well seasoned and fresh. The burgers were much better taking the managers advice to get one 6oz patty vs two 4oz patty. Unfortunately our order was messed up as all my kids are gluten free. I asked for all kids burgers to be bun free and all of them came out with buns. As far as the ambience, it's definitely a casual feel which is fine. However, if the typical servers are being removed, qr ordering from the table or kiosk ordering should be an option in my opinion. I came here again a couple of nights ago. They are very accommodating to my dairy allergy. I tried to sweet potato fries with the chipotle aioli! They were delicious!! Hopdoddy has raised their prices a little since the pandemic started, about $1.....at least for the basic burger. They do have a full bar and cocktails of the month.., so they are way ahead of times when compared to fudds which only has beer and wine. They still have a drink station, but with Pepsi products, which I don't like. I always get their regular tea and add raw sugar. Ok this review is for July 5th, I had contacted the manager that day to rectify the issue and I was supposed to receive a refund. I have given them over a month to correct it but crickets, so here is my review. Of all the hop doddy locations, this is the one I have had the most issues with, from cold food to their serving size getting smaller. I love the hop doddy monthly burgers and I was very excited about the pork belly offering...so I convinced my parents that they wanted hopdoddy for dinner because I really wanted the meal for 4th of July weekend. The order was ready for me, I picked it up, the fries were fresh because I tried them on the trip home and then I got home and anticipated the burger and when I opened it, it was really small...weird, but then I took off the bun and there was no pork belly...I look at the receipt and it's my name but not my order....I was hungry, so I ate it, I checked the other burgers...they were fine and I called the restaurant....so all this in 45 min...talked to a manager and she informed me that they ran out of pork belly....well why was I able to process the order online? She didn't know and said to come back the next day, this was not possible because I was going home ....so she said that she would refund my burger, I was fine with that because I would then order it in Austin...well no refund and no more communication is why this is the review. read more
