It's a Burger King. We all know what we're getting here. I hop on over once every few months when those Red Plum coupons come. The reason for that fourth star is my experiences with the staff. Incredibly friendly people. Reading the other reviews, apparently the drive thru is a thing. The drive thru does always seem a bit backed up. I recommend parking and going inside. I'm not sure I've ever experienced a line in there. But the staff, including the manager, are honestly pretty nice every time I go. The staff seems to be entirely Latino, so it's very much a bilingual location. Bonus. Pro-tip: The hours say open until midnight, but that's for the drive thru. The lobby closes at 9p. read more

Last time I will eat at this location. Cashier spoke to me in spanish? I asked for packets of ketchup cause I dont kno how clean their dispenser is or how old it is. But the worst was when a customer walked in jus as she gota phone call and to him to wait a minute. She then proceeded to walk away and answer her call???? I enjoyed the impossible burger. Glad this is a menu option. Now I can eat fast food and not feel as disgusting afterward. Keep this on your menu. Impossible beef does taste like real moo cow beef, plus it would be really great if it was nice and bloody like real beef. The fries weren't crispy enough though. Appears the food prep and cooking staff are so overextended, they don't have time to properly crisp the fries. I would happily wait for better fries, and I bet you would, too. Ask for crispy fries. Well, after my last experience I didn't go here for a few years. My wife wanted to try something there so I figured they had to of improved. Boy was I wrong. It's a worse shit hole then before. The young lady working the drive through would not let me finish a fucking sentence and got shitty with me when I told her to hold on. She interrupted the entire time. When we got our food she got the order wrong. I just took it because I lost my patience with her at this point. We got home and some of the food was wrapped half ass. I don't blame her. I go here for a cheap quick meal. I live right up the street. I've been coming here for years. In fact, this exact Burger King was my very first job when I was a teenager, back when Annie was the manager. She kept the joint in tip top shape and was a joy to work with. I'm not biased, I enjoyed my job! I'll get right into it... This location has big rats roaming around outside. It's not because of the restaurant, it's because of the city. El Cerrito has huge rats that get into houses, in the walls, the ceiling etc. The neighborhoods complain and try to kill them humanely, as if that's possible. I had never seen them inside the Burger King, but they run around the building and in the drive thru when you're ordering etc. they're huge, its gross. Order: They get my order wrong more than they get it right. Simple things. I ask for honey mustard, I get ranch. I ask for buns with no sesame seeds because of an allergic child, I get 2 bottom buns- both still have seeds! Stale nuggets and/or fries. Get home and theres food missing. Today I got home and my $6 chicken burger was inedible- not even my husband could chew through it, I dont understand. Its storming and I wish I could inform them over the phone but the number is no longer in service. I said I dont live far away, like 3 blocks up, but everytime I get home, I have to reheat the food in the microwave- why wont it stay warm like McDonald's, Pizza, and Chinese take out? I'm not even sure I want them to replace it tomorrow. Could this be a rat burger and not a chicken burger that we couldn't chew through? Probably not, but the thought wont leave my head now. Okay so tonight we went to Burger King and I saw sweet Anthony. Maybe it's because I'm old. Maybe it's because I come from a time where manners and respect stood for something. But every time I see Anthony at work he impresses the hell out of me. From the drive thru I can see how he deals with customers at the counter. Always courteous and with a smile on his face. No matter when he sees me he always says hi and asks how I'm doing. Just an absolute gentleman. I love to watch people and their actions. It tells so much about them. Anthony was raised to respect others, to be humble and work hard. I've complimented him and his work ethic before and he reached out the drive thru window to shake my hand while telling me thank you so much for the kind words. I love this young man! I am so proud of the person he is and please know Burger King should appreciate having someone so kind and thoughtful working for them. Anthony if you get to see this - you make me incredibly proud. It's kinda late, almost midnight... Went drive thru since it's the only option, ordered a bacon burger with no cheese. Specifies a couple times, no cheese. There was only one other car in the line, so you can't tell me they were swamped with hella orders. Got up to the window, dude passes over our food (burger and small onion rings), my guy asks, "no cheese?", he replies, "no cheese." We pull out, open the burger... Burger King is A-OK. This is another favourite place for The Mother. We do like the hamburgers here; we like them broiled as opposed to fried. This particular Burger King managed to stay open for business while undergoing a much needed remodelling/renovation/makeover. It is competitive with a lot of the hamburger restaurants. The Mother was all right with the renovation. And she was not too pleased with the concept of the community table. We have a history with the place. We have seen it through many changes of management and ownership. I had to get on their tailbone a couple of times about making sure they were clear in making their customers aware that they were closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Among other things, making sure their employees washed their hands after touching their hair, not before. (I will spare the details, the employee has long since moved on.) We came on a Thanksgiving and there were people in the drive-thru. The Mother did not want to do the drive-thru. The place was closed. It was clearly marked on the door, not on the drive-thru. I took it upon myself to tell people in drive-thru that the place was closed, no employees in the kitchen. We came back the next day, and I yelled at the manager that there was no clear indication that they were closed for Thanksgiving. The holiday schedule was posted on the door and on the drive-thru menu for Christmas. My ideal fast-food menu--a BK Bespoke Whopper and McD Fries. read more

I just left without getting my order because the guy who took the order didn't do it correctly and when I tried to have the person at the window fix it he went onto a diatribe about how HE didn't take the order. Like an oasis. I was starving with not much cash on hand and there you were, my fond memories growing up with you burger king! I'm a vegetarian and what I really love is that there is a kid's meal for vegetarian kids! Fries, mac & cheese, a soda and a toy! It's only $2.40 on top of that! Get a side salad, they never forget the croutons and always give a choice of dressing unlike McDonalds "all side salads come with ranch only BS" and always forgetting the croutons or saying that croutons cost extra cause they don't come with side salads... Workers are friendly, drive thru was adequate, price was good... gave lots of ketchup and napikins and all the utensils I required without having to ask over and over again. A friend told me burger king has veggie burgers. So I ordered one and it was very good! The combo came with low cholesterol French fries and a drink they even gave me the fries with out salt just they way I asked them to. Paid $4.52 for the combo. The lobby is very nice with a lot of up to date seating. The lobby temperature was too cold for me and on my next visit I put my pull over on to stay comfortable. I notice the only other 4 people in the lobby were wearing jackets. Wireless fidelity or wi fi is offered there and worked well on my Kindle 2nd Generation. There was no need to put in a password to get online. The staff was very nice and one of them remembered me from my first visit. For a fast food restaurant I would give it a 5 if were not for the lobby being too cold. The parking lot has real parking spaces that cars can actually fit into and it is large so parking should not be a problem. If they ever set the temperature in a comfortable range they will fill their lobby. The thermostat was at 64 when I was there I believe 70 would be more inviting. read more

Change of ownership. My $3 lunch is now $5 and not as good. The whopper junior went from 1.00 to 1.29! and the onions were harsh and the lettuce was too close to the core. And no more senior discount. I tried the $1 version of the slider last week.. I'm so disappointed I have to leave a review in hopes someone from this location will get it together and hire staff that can accommodate a request. This is now my 4th time coming to this location and no matter what I say.....no matter what I do......no matter who is on duty.......no matter the time of day........they never......ever..........ever.........ever.......get my order right. I always order my man's burger with no onions. A very simple request, and you would think not difficult to accomodate. It is the most frustrating feeling in the world to get home time and time again and find onions in something that you have specifically asked not to be on your burger.
