So you use some meat I've never heard of, craft fancy bread with yeast found only on some dude's foot in Argentina*, and then ask me to pay up to 400% the price? I'll pass. The burgers here were beautiful, you can not deny that. They were also a little TOO juicy, it was a soggy mess when I finished. It took maybe 10+ minutes to make and I devoured it in maybe 3 minutes. No fries were included, no drink was included, and I was set back nearly $9. You can get a glorious pound hamburger at Fuddrucker's for that much AND you get to make your own salad. This place reminds me of a fancier Habit Burger in terms of quality, juiciness, and taste (all above average), but I rather eat 2 hamburgers from Habit (still cheaper) than be high class here. Lastly, like Habit Burger, their staff is extremely friendly. *Burger Lounge's beef is NOT anything I've never heard of, nor do they use yeast from anyone's feet from Argentina. The "Classic" hamburger was big enough to split in half, we took off the thousand island sauce. It was delicious!! The onion rings were VERY good..well worth the price. Also got the homemade "ding dong" HIGHLY recommended!!!! These are melt in your mouth goodness!!!! The staff here went above and beyond for our group of 7... The Veggie Burger was very tasty; the bun was nice and soft and everything seemed fresh. They even have more healthier options like their new quinoa salad (gonna get that next time)! Mmmmmmmm, onionnn ringssssssssssss. How i miss you so. Ugh, seriously. Just thinking about the deliciousness of the onion rings at Burger Lounge makes me want to get in my car right now and drive my ass back to San Diego. I don't know what it was about them. Maybe there was crack in them?...or maybe i was just starving. Either way, they were perfect. They weren't the kind of onion rings where when you bite into it, the entire onion comes out and you're left holding the fried crust. Nope. These were crispy and soft at the same time and each bite had a perfect ratio of onion to delicious perfectly fried&not too heavy crust. In conclusion: they were bomb. I started piling them onto my burger in hopes that some of the amazingness would rub off on it. And i think it worked. My veggie burger was quite delicious, and i'm not sure what kind of sauce was on it other than their thousand island, but it was reallllly juicy (for a veggie burger, at least). The only thing i would have to complain about was the fact that the veggie patty was reallly soft and fell apart super easily. Although everyone seems to ADORE their veggie patty, i have to say i wasn't really that impressed. If it weren't for the onion rings i added onto my burger, i probably wouldn't have liked it as much. It was a tad too mushy and lacked some texture. I would have liked it a lot more if they used less quinoa and a few more other grains. But, in the end, i loved my burger. My best friend and i couldn't stop eating and we were determined to finish everything on our plates. Also ordered the "half and half" (half fries and half onion rings) to share. Food came out relatively quick. Mmm yum, that's a mighty fine tasty-looking burger ya got there. Big juicy grass-fed beef patty, lettuce, tomato, and homemade thousand island dressing... all sandwiched between fresh baked slightly toasted buns. I was so excited to eat that when I bit into the hot piece of meat, the juices all came out and burned my hand :( The food here is seriously fresh; you can taste all that goodness in every bite. Well this was a small gem of a lounge that sells burgers... Service: FANTASTIC, definitely 5 stars Food: Thank you for not throwing mounds of sugar in the iced tea. The restaurant itself is very narrow and quaint, with minimal seating inside and out. You'd be lucky to snag a table so try to have a buddy save you a seat while you're in line or just order to go and have a romantic picnic by the Cove. The line can get long because the place is always busy, but they give you free fries and onion rings to help distract you from the wait. How thoughtful! OMG the onion rings were amazing. They use Japanese breadcrumbs and it's extra crunchy and flavorful. Bomb dot com! We ended up ordering a large order of their onion rings to share ($4.95). Great marketing scheme guys! The fresh cut fries were crispy and light. Also very good. The beef patty was larger than the buns it came on and it was messy for me to eat, with the grilled onions and sauces dripping and slobbering as they touched my lips. So juicy and the buns were so fluffy and everything tasted so yummmm... I was getting full halfway through and really wished I had shared. It's a LOT of beef. Cute little burger joint. I ate outside and it was pretty warm with the heat lamp and the little umbrella shield. Staff was nice and friendly. I ordered the limited edition wild boar burger with rings and fries. The bun was excellent and I also liked the onion rings and bbq sauce it came with. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile, since I've heard so many raving reviews about it from friends. Finally had a chance to make my way over to the DT La Jolla Location. This location is fairly small, i think it's the smallest Burger Lounge location in the system. It's got a couple of tables outdoors and bar seating in doors with a couple of tables. You often see a long line outdoors during lunch hours. They serve high quality burgers. They would consider themselves as a "casual dining restaurant", which is a level above fast food and a level below a full service restaurant. I ordered the mini lounge burger for 5.95. It was a pretty decent sized burger, and since I wasn't very hungry to begin with, it was very satisfying. I could definitely taste the difference in the quality of beef. The taste of the burger kind of makes me think of this place as a better version of In & Out. I love the burger buns, as it is softer than the typical buns you get at a fast food joint. We couldn't relax because an employee persisted in returning to our table repeatedly to clean up before we were finished dining. She even cleared away my milkshake before I was finished drinking it. I didn't notice this until it was too late because I was chatting with my hubs. I've noticed that this tiny Burger Lounge in La Jolla is constantly busy, but I find it more fun and relaxing to eat next door at Coffee Cup on Wall Street, or to eat at Eureka! in the Westfield UTC mall in La Jolla. The Grass-fed Lounge Burgers were tasty, but we both agreed they were too salty. My husband's ordered his Lounge burger just the way it normally comes, and I ordered my Lounge burger dressed as a Lamb Burger. For me, the burgers at Eureka! in the Westfield UTC mall are much tastier and not as salty. I did get back in line again and ask them to replace the half of my milkshake which the employee had taken away. They did replace it for me, but it was annoying to get back in line and ask for something which shouldn't have been cleared away. They gave me a to-go cup which was about 3/4 full of milkshake as replacement for what they threw away. (In case you haven't ordered a milkshake at Burger Lounge, they are huge and come in 2 containers!) If I return to this location, it will be to try the organic quinoa veggie burger. The main thing that would tempt me back is the excellent coffee chocolate shake. I do appreciate that burger lounge uses 100% fresh single-source American grass-fed beef. I suggest they cut back on the salt on the burgers and fries, and allow customers to enjoy food and conversation without interrupting them repeatedly to clear the tables of customers who are trying to eat and enjoy conversation. I'd also like to add that we were barely seated long enough to finish our food and didn't linger unnecessarily, and I still had almost half of my milkshake left. This location isn't at all comfortable for lingering. The seating is cramped, and customers are staring at you while you eat, while employees are intrusively clearing up while you are still eating! A lounge is a place to sit and relax, but unfortunately, the Burger Lounge in La Jolla isn't relaxing. I'd say that In N Out is more relaxing, as nobody tries to clear your stuff away while you are still eating! In N Out is also cheaper. The paper menu for Burger Lounge claims: "Superlative Guest Service: Our goal is that every guest leave happier than when they arrived." However this didn't work for me! read more

I don't really know what the hype is about this place, besides it being "organic". I got the Lounge Burger, Chocolate Shake, and the 1/2 and 1/2 (half fries half onion rings) and I wasn't impressed. My thoughts on each: The meat: I felt that the meat could have been seasoned more. I thought it was very plain and wasn't too flavorful. It wasn't a very big burger, but it was filling with the fries, onion rings, and the shake. As a whole, the burger was average. 1/2 and 1/2: the seasoning on onion rings and the fries were alright. The thing I liked about them was that they weren't super oily, but they were kind of soft. The shake: it wasn't bad and was actually pretty good. But after having Hodad's chocolate shake, Burger Lounge's shake fails to meet my standards for a great shake. Overall, this place was alright; again, if you're into the whole "grass-fed organic" beef fad, this could potentially be a great place for you to eat at. I will definitely agree that Burger Lounge is definitely a lot healthier because it did seem a lot less oily than other burger places I've been to. If I had not eaten at any other burger places, I think that this place would be pretty good. I did appreciate the firm, yet springiness of the bun and it's ability to hold the beef and fillings in place. The meat was more on the well-done side and didn't have any discernible seasonings. The half fries/half onion rings was a bit misleading. I think I counted about 8 medium-sized onion rings. They put about 3-4 onion rings on the bottom, fries, and then 3-4 onion rings on top. Perhaps this is a petty complaint, but they are kind of cheap on the ketchup. They only give you a TINY condiment cup of it. (At most a tablespoon of ketchup.) Would it be that inconvenient to leave ketchup bottles out or put ketchup pump next to the napkins or soda fountain? Just FYI, this location does not have the "Baby Lounge Burger." read more

Not gonna lie - for all the hype that surrounded Burger Lounge, I expected a nice lounge-ish area with a huge variety of gourmet burgers. Instead, there were only about 5 main options (Regular, Turkey, Vegetarian, Salmon, Chicken Tenders), and the place is SMALL. We went in a group of 6 people, and could only sit at the counters. But okay, enough about the room. I thought that the Turkey Burger I had was a little dry. Maybe turkey burgers are just dry in general? But I could definitely taste the difference between processed turkey meat and organic turkey meat... and Burger Lounge's was definitely organic. Or maybe organic = dry? I'm not sure. I definitely recommend this place if you're super into eating healthy (but why eat a burger in the first place then?), but if you want a nice juicy fat burger... I recommend going somewhere else that's cheaper. The fries were alright for me too. Not only was the food amazing, so was the service! The waiters took the food to our table and offered refills and ketchup and anything we needed every few minutes (which I didn't expect from a burger "lounge") & the prices aren't that bad either. I got full off of one of the smaller burgers and it was so delicious. I also tried their lavender mint lemonade and that had such a great taste, I can't even put it into words. I have been waiting to come here for so long. My BFF and I came here got lost on the way home. Anyways, this is not the point. Food: 3 stars! They don't have many choices for burger, but I really like their grass-fed burger. Juicy and tasty, however, I think I tried some better grass-fed burger before other than this place. We also ordered large fries, and it's enough for 2 people to share. Service: 4.5 stars! I didn't expect burger lounge having great service because I thought they are self-serve restaurant. This part surprised me! The lady gave us a lot of ketchup, and make sure we had great dinning time. But.... she forgot our mayonnaise and mustard! (-.5 star) I still think they have great service! Overall, I would recommend my friends to come here, but I think this burger place is the place that you visit and try it once since everyone knows the store and most of your friends had their burger before. This is a pretty cute place in DTLJ but their food is just average. When it comes to burgers, it has to be really good for me to give it a good rating. Otherwise, I would rather just spend half the money and get a burger at In-n-out. Burgers here did not outshine In-n-out burgers (not that I can make a direct comparison since they're more on the gourmet side here). But, I would still rather go grab a burger at in-n-out. There's a lot of other better burger joints in SD (aka hodads or rockys) so I would probably go there over this if you are looking for a less fast-food sort of vibe for burgers. However, I still do go here often because my friends and I go to UCSD and DTLJ is closer than Ocean Beach or Pacific Beach and we like to enjoy a stroll around DTLJ and what not after grabbing some lunch. read more

Been to almost every San Diego location... While this one is smaller than the others, I never had a problem getting a seat. Love the burgers here (especially the veggie burger). The onion rings are great (if you get the half and half, make sure you have someone to share with!). Considering this place is a burger place, the salads are awesome (and they don't overdress the salads either, which I love). If you have room for dessert, definitely get the salted caramel brownie! They are amazing... Definitely turns a bad day around for me. read more

Other than the price, this place is pretty bomb. I honestly don't remember what I ordered, but it was a pretty typical burger. The best part was the bun.
