first stop when we landed was to go to our favorite In-N-Out Burger spot. This location near PB is always busy. The drive-through is always wrapped around the building out onto the street and the parking lot is extra tiny. The burgers were cooked perfectly and delicious as usual same for the fries. My favorite part are the spicy peppers. Like all In-N-Out burgers spots the dining area has plenty of seats, but it's always packed so you just gotta wait to grab a chair or two. Still worth it if you have the time. I like the Animal Style burger but it is not for everyone. Animal Style is a mustard grilled patty (the beef patty is fried with yellow mustard on the griddle) and extra toppings (added pickles, diced grilled onions, instead of raw onions and extra signature spread. They have a ton of different customizations to try too. They do a great job of making the food fresh to order. In-N-Out Burger Came in today and kept it pretty simple at first, got a protein burger no spread, then decided to go a little crazy and added animal fries with no spread basically grilled onions and cheese. This time they kinda skimped me on the cheese and the grilled onions, but I did pull up close to closing so I'm not really gonna ding them for that. Food was still solid. Quick tip though, if you get the cheese fries, eat them immediately. Don't wait. Honestly don't even take pictures maybe one and that's it. Once the cheese cools down it turns into a blob. A round of applause for my first In-N-Out Burger experience, that 100000% was worth the hype! After a full day of theme-parking, I purposely planned a stop at In-N-Out. I quickly learned I was not the only one with the same idea. The original In-N-Out I had planned to visit, closer to the theme park we were visiting, had a wait time of over an hour. As hungry as we were, we took our chances and began driving towards our hotel when I came across this location. The wait was long, but comparable to an hour; the line at this location moved relatively quickly. Our total wait time for the drive-thru was around 30 minutes. What impressed me most about how quickly the line moved at this In-N-Out was the level of customer service provided despite how busy they were, and how late in the day it was. The person who took our order and the person who greeted us with our food at the window were both really helpful. The drive-thru attendant offered us stickers and an In-N-Out paper hat after we expressed that it was our first visit. Were the burgers everything I thought they would be? Yes! I tried to go with a classic order to sample a bit of everything they are known for. My order included a double-double with fries, animal-style (no onions), and a strawberry milkshake. The entire meal was spectacular! The fries were crisp and paired perfectly with the gooey cheese spread. The strawberry milkshake was divine! I rarely eat two-patty burgers, but this one smacked. We are from the Great Plains, so we only have a chance to come to In-N-Out Burger when we are on vacation. Which is just as well, since honestly it's not that great of a place and I would not eat it on a regular basis. The burgers are good, but there are no options for people who don't eat beef. And that's fine, that's their thing, but most burger places do serve some kind of thing that's not a hamburger. Well...they have the fries. And the fries...they are not good. You can see them being made, it all looks fine. And then you get them and they are somehow not hot, and they are dry, and they are unseasoned. There's a reason people order them "animal style" and it's because they aren't very good otherwise. The burgers are good, though, and I am a big fan of the small pickled hot yellow peppers that are available there (for free) by the ketchup dispenser. It's got that cool retro feel, the staff members are nice, and from what I understand it is a good company to work for, and I appreciate business that do that. So I will probably go to one again next time I am on vacation, and hope I will remember to do the "animal style" fries. read more

Not my first time at an In N Out but the first time reviewing them. They have a quality burger at a very affordable price and the customization aspect is a win. I ordered a double patty burger with no sauce but ketchup instead and raw onions plus pickles and banana peppers. Yum! For fries you can ask for extra crispy, they come out so crunchy. This location is on the smaller side so seating took a while to become available and the parking lot is also small so we parked on the street side. I was on my way to the airport for a pick up when I got notification of a flight delay. It was about 11:30 pm and I needed to kill some time. I was trying to remember what was open late in PB when I used to live there and remembered In n Out. This is an odd area of pb just off the freeway. The drive through line was very long so I decided to go in. There were lots of people just hanging out in the parking lot. Luckily, there was no line and I was able to order quickly. I just got fries and a drink. They served me the fries immediately but they were lukewarm at best and flavorless. I didn't feel like complaining so I took them to a table and sat to eat. There were lots of groups of kids being loud and yelling to each other from across the restaurant. Several homeless people came in at various times and filled multiple cups with drinks before they left. The inside trash cans were so full they were starting to overflow. When I left I saw people going through the trash to get cups to take in and fill. I go to In-n-Out maybe once year and this is by far the worst location I've ever been to. read more

Full disclosure: I'm not a fan of In-N-Out Burger. But this doesn't keep me from taking out-of-town guests to one when they ask, which i did with my two eldest grandsons last Sunday here. First, the parking is a mess, and the drive-thru line blocks access to/from most of the spaces. Second, this is a very small In-N-Out with quite limited indoor and outside seating. This place is usually packed, so be ready for a line. I went around 7:30 PM and had no trouble finding parking. There were only a few people ahead of me at the counter, but it still took about 15 minutes to get my food. I ordered the double cheeseburger with onions, and it was phenomenal. The onions were perfectly crispy, and the Smashburger itself was excellent. I also tried the animal fries, which were a big letdown - soggy, cold, undersalted, and lacking flavor. I'd skip them next time. The staff really stood out. One employee checked in to ask how I liked my burger, and another cleared my tray when I went to throw it away. It was easily some of the friendliest service I've experienced. The prices are great, and the burger quality is top-notch. I'll definitely be back, just not for the fries. And don't expect it to be a quick stop. It's worth the wait, but it's not "fast" fast food. read more

Ok, so normally how the drive thru works is that you have to enter from the north side coming from Santa Fe Street, but some dumbasses come through Mission Bay Drive on the south side. When that happens, a security guard and/or the drive thru person outside directs them to the correct way, and maintains a good flow of traffic in and out of the driveway. There's a new security guard here that does nothing with the traffic, walks around aimlessly or hides somewhere. The drive thru person outside virtually does nothing and allowed the driveway to get congested so bad that even the traffic on Damon Avenue couldn't even get through. This place needs to improve on the drive thru line significantly or they're bound to cause an accident. read more

I got a cheeseburger and a side of regular fries. The fries were just ok, they were thinner but not as crispy and fresh as I wanted. They were seasoned well though! The burger was also solid. The cashier asked me if I wanted to add onion, which I did not realize is a full slice of onion. I was really impressed with the pricing - I was expecting it to be way more expensive than it was but the burger was a reasonable size and the fry portion was generous. As usual, I had a delicious 3x1, however they did mess up the toppings on my burger. Instead of getting raw chopped onions and chopped chilies, I got sliced onion and no chilies. However, I'm only giving it a one star review for the absolute bug infestation they had inside the restaurant. Since I haven't seen any other reviews mention this, this must be new, because I've been here before and was surprised to see this new issue. There were flies, ants, and gnat(s) EVERYWHERE. My pictures don't do it justice. I wasn't the only person who noticed this, as I saw other customers clearly concerned as well. Hello, I visited the Pacific Beach drive-thru and was given cold fries. When I asked for fresh ones, I was told to wait in the parking lot. I ended up waiting nearly 15 minutes before having to go back myself to get my order. This delay was especially upsetting because my sick mother with diabetes had taken her insulin and needed to eat within 30 minutes, and my elderly grandfather was also waiting.
