I don't think Covid is an excuse to lower the quality of the food they serve, and to be honest lately they really have come down. A simple burger and fries, which by the way is 2 or 3 times the cost of the other places, was an overcooked meat which tasted like cardboard, the bread was stale and the fries.... take a look at the pic and judge by yourselves. Not sure why this place has high reviews. I was craving a "gourmet" burger and found this place on Yelp. The order took quite a while 20 minutes for two burgers, onion rings and fries. I ordered the lamb burger and the lounge burger. Both were hugely disappointing. I was expecting gourmet burgers for the price I'm paying but have to say, Five Guys and In and Out are both way better and cheaper. When I got my burgers, I opened the boxes and was very disappointed by the appearance of both burgers. They looked very hastily and sloppily put together - about as far from the pictures as a burger can be. Taking a closer look at the burgers, the lamb burger was missing the "creamy feta cheese" which was so prominently displayed in the picture, and there was only a small amount of red onions. The lounge burger was no better with very shriveled looking lecture, a small piece of tomato, and after digging very hard I found one lonely pickle slice. I went back to ask what happened, and after the front staff asked the kitchen, it turns out they didn't have any more feta cheese and so just decided to assemble the burger without a pretty critical ingredient. They were very apologetic, and we worked out a compromise where I got some thousand island dressing, cheese, and pickles on the side to make the burgers a bit more appetizing. This is the only reason why this is a 2 star review. Overall, the burgers looked lousy, and the buns were crusty and dry. I understand trying to be health conscious and using what looked like a whole wheat bun, but the texture just wasn't appealing. The lamb and beef patties were both also a bit dry, and the overall flavors for both burgers were pretty disappointing. Service was also mediocre despite the payment system asking for a 20% tip when you pay (before you get your food). I saw about 3-5 people who had already ordered ahead of us come back inside and ask for a cup to get water. When we were placing our order, I asked for a cup to get ice for my Spindrift - which I was in the process of paying for - the cashier gives me an annoyed look. While I was eating, I saw the server who helped us with the missing feta and pickles finally clean the tables while 3-4 others were bunched in a corner goofing around. General cleanliness was not good - the counter and seating areas inside and out on the patio were both pretty dirty. The tables and chairs were dirty, and the soda machine area was also wet and dirty. This is why I got my order to go, until I was forced to go back to the store because the burgers looked so sad. The only reason I'd consider it a 4 star and not 5, is because it's pretty tough to find parking (I'm also not from this area so I don't know the ins and outs) There isn't much seating inside but I like the outdoor seating area, and burgers came out fast. We also wanted lemon for our water and someone was kind enough to cut some fresh for us in the back-- really appreciated that! The fries are great but definitely over priced. However, the quality of beef patty in these burgers is A1!! I ordered the butcher and it was delicious. I like the fact they allow you to customize any burger on their menu. I'm not a huge burger fan, but this place hit the spot and I love the type of bread their bun is made from don't know what it is but it's delicious! As a burger lover, I am trying to try most of the places which has vegan options. This place has vegan options. I ordered large fresh French fries with ancient grain burger(quinoa patty). The burger was not good. I found it very dry. It was also lacking some basic spice salt and paper. The fries were ok not so good. Thankfully I ordered vegan island sauce. We were looking for a good burger for lunch and decided to try the Burger Lounge. We were expecting a little more and when we arrived we were surprised there wasn't more to it. It is on a corner and the inside seating is essentially a narrow counter with stools, maybe enough seating for 6 or 7 people. You order at the counter, they give you your cup for your drinks and you fill it yourself. There were a few small tables outside. Maybe 3 or 4 tables. It is definitely nothing fancy, nothing wrong with that, just be aware. I had the Lounge Burger and a side of fries. It was pretty tasty, but by the time we added fries and a drink to our two burger order, we were basically at $40. They use grass-fed beef in their burgers, but still, $40 for two burgers, fries and drinks is a lot. There are other places to go nearby to sit in a nice restaurant, have a similar burger with fries included, that offer much broader menu and drink options, that cost about the same. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the food wasn't good, nor am I saying I wouldn't return. I am saying that it was a lot more casual than I expected. For a quick takeaway, or a fast bite, it is a good choice. A little pricey, but not terribly so. Lots of locations in Southern CA...perhaps others have a more welcoming environment than the one in La Jolla. read more

We ordered 2 burgers and 1 large fries to-go. Once we got to our car we realized they didnt put the fries in the bag so I went back. They quickly added a bag of fries which was good. Once we got home to eat is when we realized everything that was wrong. The fries were unseasoned and tasted stale. One burger was just a dry patty in extra dry buns. The second burger had only half the toppings and the patty was again extremely dry with dry buns. I felt disgusted with just the single bite I had of my burger and it went straight to the trash. This is my number 1 burger place now!! They have 4-5 choices of burgers including the veggie, turkey and cod options. So not many choices, but they do each of those well. I took the regular beef burger, my boyfriend took the husky (double Patty) and my friend took the veggie one. Ahh, these are so good! We were crazy hungry after an evening at the cove. We all took meals - mine came with fantastic onion rings, the other two with fries. All in all I LOVE these burgers and onion rings. Even their barbeque sauce was interesting! They have ginger beer on tap, which excited me. The ginger beer is more sugar than ginger though, so a little disappointing. I'm not sure what's wrong with this location but the quality has just been lacking the past 2 orders I made here. I previously frequented the 4S location and it was incredibly good and consistent. The La Jolla location gave us under cooked fries the first time and burgers with some sort of hard crust on the edge, didn't taste as fresh as we are used to. The second time (today) we received somewhat sloppy burgers and fries that were slightly undercooked and they skimped us on the onion rings part of the half fries / onion rings. For clarification these were door dash orders but so were all the previous orders in 4S ranch. Tried a range of items: the Paleo burger, the Quinoa vegan burger, and a Lounge burger. All were delicious. Of course had to get fries and onion rings (really salty, but overall good), and a strawberry shake. A shake made with Dreyers ice cream is always a solid choice. The only bummer was when ordering online you could NOT add bacon to the quinoa burger. I understand in theory if someone is ordering a quinoa vegan burger you would "assume" they don't eat meat, but that isn't always the case! I love to add bacon to veggie burgers. It was still good, but I was missing that bacon!! I do think they could find a better bun...kinda stale and not much flavor. I saw in a review that maybe they are coming to Arizona?? Love the burgers here! And the fries and onion rings are really good too. Whenever I'm in the area and feeling like I want a nice big burger, I come here. It's also nice to know that the burger patties come from grass fed beef, and with ingredients that are sustainably sourced. It's also nice to have the option for the burger patty to be medium rare, which is just the way that I like it. I usually get the Quinoa Vegan Burger ($8.95), but the last time I went I wanted to try their burger so I got their Lounge Burger ($8.95 for 1/3 lb) with the patty cooked medium rare. Sometimes I also get a small side of Fries ($3.95) or 1/2 and 1/2 Fries and Onion Rings ($4.95). All their ingredients taste really fresh and clean, so I don't really feel as much guilt with their burgers. I also highly recommend getting the burger cooked medium rare, especially if that's how you usually get your steak. It just makes it so much juicier and flavorful. The fries and onion rings can get pretty oily. When I pull the fries bag out, the entire bottom is just soaked in oil. They are really tasty though, and I love dipping them into their ranch as well. Service has been okay. They get the job done and the process goes by pretty quickly. I haven't talked to too many workers who were very inviting though. I always got that feeling that they were just waiting for their shift to be over and wanting to get on with their day. I asked the girl at the counter how many ounces their burgers are, and she kept making a circle with her hands saying "about this big." I repeated my question again and added, are they 1/4 lb or 1/2 lb or...? Another girl walked over and didn't know either. The first one rolled her eyes and gave her coworker a sideways look as if I'm inconveniencing them, or in the wrong for asking. The other one finally asked a third coworker, and he said 5 oz. I stopped here on a Tuesday afternoon to grab some lunch and it was all good. I was able to order right away, and I got their classic burger without lettuce, onion, tomato. I added bacon and avocado. I also ordered fries and a fountain drink. My total came to $22 which I find to be a lot for the restaurant I was in. I know I am in La Jolla which is expensive, but I think that was a pretty steep price. I was given a number and brought it over to where I was seated and waited for my meal. It took about 5 minutes and then I was able to start eating. My meal was delicious. My burger was cooked perfectly, and the addition of the bacon and avocado was nice. My fries were perfect as well. I did get some BBQ sauce but I was not a huge fan of their BBQ sauce at all. They have some outdoor seating and a few stools against a wall for bar like seating inside. The weather was chilly, so I grabbed a stool at a counter. When they are full, they are pretty tight, and I didn't love how close I was to the stranger who came to sit next to me. Thankfully they left pretty quickly, and I was back to having space again. Overall, everything was okay. My meal was great and filling however I don't think the price tag is worth it. The seating wasn't that great either and those 2 things mean I don't know if I will come back. There are so many amazing places in La Jolla. I came back to LJ this week on vacation and was incredibly disappointed with the lounge burger and turkey burger. Everything tasted like it had been cost reduced to the lowest quality ingredients. Hi, I won't even give it one star. So to start, we were two families together that the cashier decided to split it two receipts and still put us under the same table number. Which it was fine. Came to get our food, we had our daughter wait for more than 30 min and them saying that they don't have the order and after that they said oh, we don't make it anymore and then oh ok, we found the order which was a kids meal. Then the server comes back with only one item from the the whole order saying that was it. And when we explain it to him he came back and brought the rest of the order and was still missing ice cream. At this point we didn't care because all we cared about is us all eating together after our food is been cold waiting on her to get her meal. Now comes the manager yelling at us in of other customers saying that we went inside the restaurant and cursed at his employees. Which we didn't do. And he didn't even give us a chance to talk and ordered us to leave immediately I am sorry, but if this is the treatment that your customers should be treated then this is unacceptable. I was at La Jolla with some friends and we stumbled upon this place. I have to say, hands down one of the best burgers I've had! The fries are also very complimentary to the whole meal (however sold separately). I definitely recommend going here for a quick bite, plenty of outdoor seating.
