    Smoky Burger

Had just gotten done Tubing with River Rat Outpost A and this place was a Godsend! Laying in the sun for a few hours, we worked up an appetite! Walked right up to the window, there wasn't a long line thankfully when we drove up! We ordered 2 Smoky Burgers, one as a meal and one just the burger! For the Smoky Burger meal they allowed a milkshake for the drink - she got a Oreo Milkshake and onion rings (the staff member said she loved the onion rings) The Flurry I ordered was amazing, I didn't think I could finish it all because it was DECENTLY sized I was very surprised. But it was amazing! They also serve soft serve ice cream if that's more your style! This place is located conveniently near River Rat Outpost A. I will note that the bathrooms are also shared with River Rat. Seating is outdoors, there are benches and high top tables. The table style is covered, while some benches have umbrellas. I am 1000% coming back. This will be my new favorite stop before heading home from the Smokey Mountains! This was perfect because we didn't want a fast food chain, but this was supporting local and it was affordable and fast! Try this place out!

There was a pretty long line that looked like an amusement park ride line when we pulled up. There is a sign that says you can order online and skip the line but I did not see what website we could order on to do that so my husband hopped in line. The wait wasn't terrible for how long it originally appeared to be, but that was just to order. Since we had already eaten we only ordered flurries. My husband got a banana Oreo flavored one, while I got Heath. It was very good. I don't know if it is better than some other ice cream places but it was tasty and hit the spot.

My family and I stumbled across this nostalgic burger shop after we floated down the river. It was the perfect stop after we had been in the heat all day, I got a burger with fries and a Reeces shake. It was so refreshing! The fries were super crispy, which was a great surprise. The burger is your average burger, but the patty was very juicy- not dry! I can see the wait time being a bit longer on the weekends, since you stand in line to order. But the food came out super fast! They also asked if I wanted my ice cream first or if I wanted it with my meal. There are seats around the side of the building that are shaded, but everything is outdoors. Plenty of parking spots as well. I can't wait to go back on our next vacation!

A nice treat when in Townsend. We always stop and get an ice cream. Service is fast and friendly. There is always plenty of seating and the area is kept clean.

We stopped here for lunch. I'm not sure what they are doing differently than last year but these burgers were amazing. Last year they were ok. We bought two cheeseburger meals and really enjoyed our food. The burgers were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. The staff are amazing and friendly. It was a nice spring day out so it was wonderful sitting in the warm sun with some delicious food.

The house sausage made to perfection, the benne seed bacon was like something I've NEVER had before, and the pickled shrimp with the comeback sauce was INSANE. Coming from someone that doesn't like cold shrimp, it was out of the water. Literally. The waygu burger was delicious and cooked perfect, although sweet due to the jam, something to keep in mind! Fries were yummy and cooked to perfection as well. Lastly, the filet mignon. Words can't describe how much I enjoyed this meal. It's been a long time since I've walked out absolutely pleased. The port-reduction was sweet and a perfect dipper, the steak was so tender and the béarnaise sauce on top takes it to the next level! Pickled veggies, braised onion, and yummy tender Yukon potatoes. You really can't get any better than this plate right here in my opinion! Aside from the food, our sever was so kind, helpful, and very welcoming. We wish we would have got his name, he sure did elevate the experience overall and I hope to see him again! Our food came quick and we were even offered a tour of our charcuterie board!! we WILL be back!!!!

You're tucked away in the forest with the most peaceful ambiance in the evening! The waiter introduced the menu to us and mentioned that the ingredients were all mostly locally sourced and or grown in their garden when you first turn onto the driveway. So great to know exactly where your food is coming from! For the starter, I shared the crab corn chowder - and the waiter was kind enough to split the soup into two bowls with my partner. This was a perfect starter! Creamy, a little smokey, and not too heavy like your typical chowder. Lacking in the crab department, but it's as you would suspect with anything advertising 'containing crab' at a restaurant. We were also given complimentary corn bread and it was delicious. Such a nice surprise and I definitely preferred having the cornbread over regular bread! The service was a little slow, especially to bring the appetizer and bread out, but I wasn't too bothered since it didn't seem like we were rushed to finish our meal. I ordered the filet mignon (med rare) as my main. The flavors were spot on! My filet was a bit tougher than other filets I've had in the past... it was difficult to cut into. I also wished there was more of the red wine sauce to balance the richness of all the accompanying flavors and textures. All in all, this spot was a special treat tucked away in Townsend and I'm glad I didn't have to drive too far for a well-crafted menu and food scene!

We were greeted right away and were able to take a table. Small dining area, with very limited seating. Nice warm cozy vibe including Bob Ross on the tv. The food came out quickly. Hot and fresh. I got the Snoring Bear Breakfast. I chose the Cajun seasoning for the tilapia and it was a lil bland. I probably could have asked for more seasoning, so that's on me. The rest was great. Eggs cooked to perfection. My wife chose the fish platter and she said the fish was delicious. The fries were a lil over seasoned and she had to rub some of the fries off. As for the drinks, cans of Coke, Sprite, etc are $1.99 each. A lil pricey but it is clearly marked on the menu. My only complaint is I ordered a water and was charged 50 cents. It's not listed anywhere on the menu, so I was surprised to see it on my bill. Overall, I would probably stop here again for a quick bite if I'm in the area. Nice little place, and the service is great!

If anything, I hope that this review helps the owners to reconsider some of their offerings. First off, there are multiple cars parked in the parking lot making the average passer buyer think that the restaurant is extremely busy. It does seem like they are known for their Italian food, but they also offered breakfast. First off, I don't like anything special for breakfast. I am very happy with scrambled eggs, a biscuit, bacon I ordered just that, scrambled eggs, a biscuit, and bacon. It was honestly horrendous. Again, I really hate saying this because I know that it's family run and in a small town, but I think they need to reevaluate the breakfast situation. I know that breakfast food is pretty bland, but this was beyond bland and not worth the money. The girl that was seating people that morning was not friendly at all, and we didn't even know that we were supposed to follow her. I definitely hope that their Italian is better than the breakfast, and maybe they should reevaluate the business model. Overall, I do not recommend, we probably would've been better just having breakfast at the campsite.

Parking's an issue if you're arriving when the bistro is open. We were always able to find a space, but sometimes not near the cabin. There are a couple signs for "cabin parking" but they were frequently moved, taken down, or ignored. Something the lodge should really fix. Roomy living space, couch, several more upholstered chairs, dining table. Wood burning fireplace (in season). Smartest TV I've seen in a hotel room. Most every streaming service you could think of, and when one wasn't there, it was a breeze to download and add. Full kitchen, basic plates, glasses, silverware. Paper towels provided. Microwave, oven, toaster, dishwasher, full fridge. A few ice trays. If you plan to do your own cooking, plan to take anything more you need. Roomy bathroom, walk in shower, great water pressure. Bed was wavy when moving, so a little partner disturbance, and wife complained it was not great on her back. Ok, but could use a refresh. Daily service as you need; leave a card with what you'd like checked each morning on the door. Overall an excellent place to stay in Townsend. Enough issues that for the price, we may look around a bit before returning.

We used to come to Dancing Bear several times a year when we lived in TN. This is our first visit…read moresince moving away 10 years ago and I wish that I I had just retained the memories and never come here again. I am writing this review on day one and I am stuck here for the next three days. Being surprised by me experience so far, I started reading these reviews and finally found one with some of the same issues with noise, etc. that we are experiencing, only to find the response by the property trying to dispute that guests experiences. I can't wait to see how they respond to mine. We arrived last night to our "cabin" and I thought there must be a mistake. It looked like I was looking into a duplex storefront of some sort and specifically, I was seeing the side of the business not meant for customers. Unfortunately, this was my "cabin". The original cabins seem to still be here, but these are new additions. Imagine you wanted to slap up some shacks as cheaply and quickly as possible to just cram people in, this is what you would end up with. Here are some amenities to look forward to: You will have a seating area that is basically your kitchen, a bathroom in between and then a bedroom in back where, if you love firm beds, prepare to be amazed. And don't forget, you will get to hear every footstep, syllable and cough of your neighbors on the other side of your paper thin wall! What an opportunity to make new friends! And just for good measure, you can awake to the sounds of housekeeping next door sounding like they are working on a demolition project as well as there constant driving up and down the road in front of your "cabin" on the gravel road. We went to dinner in their award winning restaurant last night. I wonder if the judges are the staff and owners in these competitions? I only mock this because when we dined here before, the food was art. The meals were unforgettable and memories you would discuss for years. I may discuss last nights meal for years, but not for the same reasons. To be fair, my wife had the mussels which she said were amazing. I settled on two shareables, the beef tips and the pork belly with Brussels. The beef tips were edible but if felt like someone was trying to take some beef trimmings and fancy them up to look like a real chef came up with something innovative. The pork belly was ghastly. I have had and made pork belly for years and this was embarrassing. It was 1 inch of un-rendered fat with a shaving of meat attached drowned in a spicy sauce in the hopes you wouldn't notice you were chewing on the same bite ten minutes later. Further, our server was one of those than cannot stop talking. For goodness sake, you may just as well pull up a chair and order something. I was worried this one might just follow us back to our room. This used to be owned by Blackberry Farm, but apparently was sold to some family who has destroyed what was once a true gem. This used to be one of the only places in this region that wasn't a tourist trap. I read the reviews of late here, and I can only think these are from people who never got to experience what this place once was and who would be just as happy at one of the tourist dives in Gatlinburg. I was taking a few days from work but I see no reason whatsoever to not just work remotely for the next three days to try and take my mind off of this nightmare. I gave it the second star only because the rain coming down on the roof last night was a pleasant sound that drowned out some
