I'm writing this review in hopes that others avoid the mistake we made. Specifically, avoiding avoiding Over Easy Al's. With the same ownership as Crockett's across the street and a pile of glowing reviews, we walked in expecting to discover our new favorite breakfast spot in Gatlinburg. Instead, we left wondering if we had somehow visited a completely different restaurant than everyone else. Let me start with the positives. The restaurant is beautiful. A tremendous amount of thought, money, and effort clearly went into the design. It's bright, inviting, and visually impressive. The hostess was also warm, friendly, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Unfortunately, that's where things started heading downhill. We began with the fried deviled eggs. Now, this should have been a slam dunk. Fried? Deviled eggs? What's not to love? The answer: the breading. There was so much of it that it overwhelmed everything else. Instead of enhancing the flavor, it buried it. The deviled egg filling barely had a chance to introduce itself before getting tackled by the coating. Then came the Farmer's Garden Omelette, which both my wife and I ordered based on our server Katie's recommendation. What arrived was an omelette that seemed to have a strained relationship with vegetables. The spinach was still essentially raw, and the vegetables felt less like ingredients and more like something someone remembered at the last second. "Oh no, this is supposed to be a vegetable omelette." Tosses vegetables into center. Closes omelette. Problem solved. The result was an omelette where the eggs and vegetables never really came together as a dish. But the biggest disappointment wasn't the food. It was the service. Our server disappeared for extended stretches despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Water glasses sat empty. No tea refills. No check-ins. At one point I started wondering if she'd been recruited into a witness protection program. The only time my iced tea was refilled was when I finally asked for the check. That's generally not the point in the meal when you're hoping service suddenly kicks into gear. What makes this experience so frustrating is the potential. The restaurant looks fantastic. The location is great. The ownership has a proven track record nearby. But on this visit, the food execution and service simply didn't match the reputation. Disappointed. Not the breakfast experience we expected. And in a town overflowing with outstanding breakfast options, that's a tough miss. Two stars. Try another breakfast spot. In Gatlinburg, you have plenty of excellent choices. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch. It was not busy at all, I am assuming it's busy at breakfast. The hours seem to be 7-2. The place was huge and it was rooster themed. We had the rueben and the fried green tomato blt with fries. The fries were good. The blt was mostly bread same with the rueben. Maybe breakfast is better? Same owners who own Crockett's next door own this place. It has a totally different menu, and it all sounds good. My husband & I arrived around noon, so we were in the mood for lunch type food. We opted for the signature Bloody Mary, Rueben with home fries, and Pork Belly tacos. We were pleased with our choices and would order all of them again. A great new breakfast spot in the area! There was no wait around 9am and the staff was friendly. Our waiter, Will, was very attentive and kind. I like that they serve alcoholic beverages and my mimosa was delicious! The South of The Border omelette was huge and tasty! Our favorite foods we tried were the buttermilk pancakes 10/10 and the chocolate banana waffle which was also absolutely delicious! The omelette was okay and I probably wouldn't get it again. I would have liked the cheese to be on top. The home fries were decent, but again nothing special. The menu lacks for a breakfast place. The service was good and server was attentive and friendly. We visited Great Smoky National Park and wanted to grab a bite after. We settled on Over Easy Al's - very large interior, lots of seating, a bar and kitchy egg farm decor. The staff was right on top of things with fast service. The table ordered: corned beef hash - large chunks of bold corned beef was amazing (meat was a 4) but hard as a rock poached eggs, The server provided another poached egg but the yellow part must have fallen out because all I had was the white part. I wasn't going to ask for another. The breakfast sandwich with grits - a solid 4. The chicken salad croissant was ok and the Eggs Benedict was good but also had one poached egg that was absolutely over done. Asked for another one for the eggs Benedict and the second came out better. I think the cooks were in a hurry and didn't take the time to provide the proper way to poach an egg! Our first visit to Over Easy. The restaurant itself was clean and bright. No sticky nasty menus you would expect at a travel location. Service was prompt and courteous. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the stuff French toast with cream cheese pumpkin filling with a side of bacon. Bacon was fairly standard and good. The French toast was a good hefty portion with lots of filling. Chicken and waffles also a good portion. The waffle itself probably couldn't stand on its own as it didn't quite have the vanilla sweetness I would expect. The chicken by itself was crispy and had a good flavor but the hot honey was nearly undetectable. The French toast was extremely sweet and tasted wonderful but I'm a morning sweets person and that's what I expect. Overall I'd give this a solid "will visit again" and a good alternative to its sister restaurant next door Crocketts. We also had a shareable fried deviled eggs that were pretty good. read more

Try this place! You won't regret it! I ate here 2 days in a row and had excellent service both days. The first day I was with my granddaughter. She had the chicken Caesar salad and I had an egg white omelet. She loved her salad and it was so big she could finish it. They were kind enough to make my omelet with egg whites and loaded it with bacon. I also asked for tomato and it didn't quite have enough but it was very good. I ordered the Bellini and it was honestly one of the best I've ever had. The garnish was sugared raspberries and the rim was also sugared, excellent presentation. Day 2 I came alone while the grands were still sleeping specifically to get the avocado toast. I was pretty disappointed. It was basically guacamole and slightly brown. It's not difficult to make avocado toast by cutting a fresh avocado in half and using half of it spread on the toast. I also ordered a pineapple mimosa and it was excellent. Gatlinburg needs a brunch place with quality food and specialty cocktails so I hope this place makes it. I plan to return and try the breakfast margarita! read more

Our party of four was seated in about five minutes, and the servers were very attentive. Food came out fast, which was a pleasant surprise. The menu leans heavily toward breakfast with a few lunch options mixed in. The omelets were excellent, and my teenagers raved about the pancakes. I did order a Bloody Mary that fell a little short of expectations, but everything else more than made up for it. Decided to try this spot out after driving by on the strip. As a long time fan of breakfast camp, I have to say that this place is just as good. The hashbrown balls were good and the queso with them was great, but you dont get many for the money. Deviled eggs were ok. Funnel cake nachos where a favorite, will be getting them again. I'm from Florida in town on vacation and this place caught my eye due to the chicken had shades. The drinks were good and the service was great. I ordered the chicken biscuit and it was banging the eggs and home fries were great as well. My girl ordered was good as well until she bit into her eggs and bit into a piece of hard plastic which was odd. Even though management handle the situation and replaced her eggs they didn't come to apologize for the incident. The food was amazing, I got the 2 egg specialty with bacon and french fries and it was so yummy and definitely bigger portions then i'm used to when it comes to breakfast. My boyfriend got a chicken biscuit with gravy over it with home style fries and 2 eggs. The chicken was crunchy and really good. Our server was ontop of the service and made sure we were all set the whole time as well.
