Truly a hole in the wall hidden gem. The waitress was attentive, even for being alone. The food was amazing. We had the fried pickle spears, a Mexico burger, and morning mist sandwich. After a day of visiting galleries & studios on the 'Arts Trail' we needed a quick repast. With ordering at the counter and food delivery to the table, we found Morning Mist to be efficient & tasty as we shared a veggie omelette with a side of hash browns. I almost didn't stop because their sign said they might take a while but when the locals tell you this is the place to go, you just roll with it. I got nothing better to do anyway! Located in the artist colony near Gatlinburg, it's a perfect stop for wandering in and out of the shops. I ordered the Morning Mist Chicken Sandwich which has grilled chicken, melted cheese, Granny Smith apples and this delicious peach jalapeño jam on it. I must find a jar before we go! This location was recommended to me for a good burger. When I looked it up on yelp the pictures looked delicious. When we arrived it was in a small plaza. Plenty of parking and shopping locations. Folks this place is a hidden gem a hole in the wall. The pictures I saw of the burgers matched what was served. The staff was welcoming and provided great service. If you like some spice to your burger you MUST have the Mexico burger. Very delicious and filling. The burger comes with a side and I went with fries. Very well priced for great meal. We stopped here around 2:30 on Monday while on the craft tour. Great little cafe, and the staff is super friendly! We all ordered the Chicken Salad Sandwich, and it was delicious! Me and my mother came here 45 mins before close for a late lunch/early dinner. We both got the club, me with potato salad and her with fries. The lady that served us was so friendly and the food was amazing. The club literally has a grilled cheese as one of the layers and it tasted so fresh. The service from our server was nice but the chef kept coming out and micromanaging his waiter in front of us. It was weird. They had this caption on their menu that said something about how they "weren't fast food" and how the chef is "very particular about how things were served" so basically "just chill and get ready to enjoy really good food at a leisurely pace". I think this backfired on them because we got our expectations up. An hour and a half later, we were served our food that you could tell would have been really good if it was hot. The fries were soggy and had been waiting around on a plate somewhere before they were served to us, the hamburgers were lukewarm at best and it's too bad because the place could be stellar. The "particularities" of the chef didn't include the most important thing...serving hot food. When we paid and he asked how everything was, we said it was tasty but not very hot. He seemed embarrassed and claimed it was hard to get food out to a party of 7 all at the same time. Food service 101, but I'm no chef. I thought that was strange. It would have been better to eat hot food as each dish came out rather than to have all of our dishes at the same time but cold. Morning Mist Café is a diamond in the rough. So the menu reminds all the customers that their food isn't fast. It's not, its made to order by one cook. So be patient! Be patient, you will not be disappointed. We had a larger group - 8 people and we wanted to sit outside, so we sat between two tables. Our group ordered fried green tomatoes and fried deviled eggs. Both good! The breading on both items were crispy and fresh, not soggy, not store bought, but homemade. The entrees consisted of a grilled cheese with fruit side, a grilled chicken sandwich with fries, two people had burgers and fries, and two people had clubs. My fiancé and I split a club - it was so delicious. Literally the best club I have ever had. Think a grilled cheese sandwich with turkey meets a BLT. Super good, almost wish I didn't split it. But portion control is a real thing for me. We ordered baked beans on the side.  The food was so good. The service was excellent. Just remember that the food is fresh and made to order. Excellent food, excellent staff. Clean and friendly. We were there on grand opening of the new owners so still in timing phase. Wait was a bit long but the food was worth it. Fresh and homemade. My husband's blackened burger looked like something we would grill at home and the french fries actually tasted like fried potatoes. My grilled chicken sandwich with slices of granny smith apples in place of lettuce and tomato was delicious. The pasta salad has an oil dressing rather than smothered in mayo, very good. After 45 minutes of waiting my family of 7 had finally started getting their meals, but it was only 1 or 2 meals at a time at 10 minutes apart. The last 2 meals showed up after everyone else was done. The owner was rude and didn't even apologize or discount our meals. Then had the nerve to think we would walk out without paying. The cook/chef owner is disrespectful and rude to his customers. He has no interest in customer satisfaction. He is unable to serve more than 2 people at a table. We had 7 people in our party and he could only put out 2 meals at a time. 5 of us had finished eating before our last 2 had ever gotten their meals. When we asked about discounting the last 2 meals the waitress had to ask the cook and he came out and said "They got their meal so no." Then came out and waited behind the counter to make sure we paid and didn't skip out on our checks. We definitely are not like the owner. Friendly waitress who was really overwhelmed. The was single handedly serving the entire cafe. We placed our order of 2 salads, a sandwich and a hamburger. It took more than an hour for the food to arrive. When we asked where our food was she checked and came back to tell us 5 more minutes. Meanwhile another table that came in well after us was served. The cook/owner came out to explain that it takes time when they are busy to get food out and the place across the street often has a 1 hour wait for a table. He started arguing with us about it! My family of 7 came in for lunch. It took over 45 minutes for us to start receiving meals. The first 1 came out, 5 minutes later 2 more arrived, then 10 minutes 2 more came and the last 2 weren't delivered until the the other 5 were finished. In fact, the 7th meal came out 10 minutes after the last meal. The chef/owner told us that he was doing us a favor by recooking the chicken tenders that he had burnt in the first place. When we asked for him to reduce or refund one of the meals he said no because we got our meals and the rest of our party hadn't left. I guess if the other 5 had left us waiting to eat he would have done something about it. The owner is rude and doesn't believe in customer service at all. The waitress is his wife and she continued to mouth the words "I'm sorry" while he continued to yell at us and tell us how grumpy the customers have been today! We came into town and saw this darling cafe. We waited 30 mins so it could open and we could try the food. We had a cold brew mocha, so delicious! The menu did state that they are not fast food, understandable..... but from the time we sat down till we got our food it took an hour and 10 minutes. We were the 3rd group of ppl to walk in at 12pm. We ate and left at 1:30. We payed for our food and did not tip because no one checked on us to ask if we were ok. Waitress did not ask if we needed a refill. Our food was room temperature. Before we left i thanked the waitress and said "the food was delicious and worth the wait" she gave me huge attitude and said "must not have been that good since you did not tip" before that i was considering coming back. I was exploring the area and wandered in the Morning Mist Cafe. What a great find! I had the most amazing chicken sandwich with gouda, apples, and a peach-jalapeno jam. (It's been a few days and I am still thinking about it!) Everyone was very friendly, and when an afternoon thunderstorm hit they encouraged us to stay a while. If I could give a zero stars I would. For one it took us 45 mins to an hour to get food. I ordered crispy chicken tenders with cheesy bread and fresh fruit. The chicken was burnt, then the one and only server tried to tell me and my family that it was just the coloring of the breading. The cheesy bread was soggy and didn't even have that much cheese on it. The fruit was the only good thing. My mother ordered a chicken sandwich that was "cooked with apples.. gouda cheese and jalapeño peach jelly" and onion rings. What she got was very different. There was no jalapeño in the jelly. It was just peach jelly. The chicken was gristly and the "apples" were just crunchy apple slices. THEY CHARGED EXTRA FOR VERY SHITTY ONION RINGS. I'd recommend McDonald's over this place. read more

We ate there Saturday while looking at the leaves in Gatlinburg . This place is amazing ! Huge portions and everything is made fresh to order ! I had chicken tenders and frys my husband had cheeseburger and frys with a cup of vegetable soup ! Wow so wonderful !! My husband said BEST burger in Sevier county ! What a find!!! Our party of three ordered the cheeseburger, the blackened burger, the grilled cheese BLT, homemade french fries & the creamy veggie soup. Absolutley delicious; as well as visually stunning food! The place is spotlessly clean, the service was friendly, promp & efficient with a warm ambiance. Large windows allow you to see right into the woods, or you can sit outside on the covered patio located over a babbling brook. It's not fast food, it's fine food!
