Cute little burger spot in Townsend. Really hate to only give it 3 stars because the service was exceptional, but the burgers were just ok.

The food here is always great! The burgers are amazing, and the sundaes are a great size. Price fits the value of the food. Even when busy, the food also comes out within a reasonable amount of time. The staff is also friendly as well. Every time I come to Cade's Cove, I come here! read more

This is another one of our favorite casual joints when we visit Pigeon Forge area. Located in Townsend Tenn, this burger hole has been open since 1950's and still does it vintage style. It's only open from March till late Oct, early Nov depending the weather. They serve delicious drive-in style burgers using quality meat. There are several choices of burgers and chicken sandwiches. I love their seasoned fries, however not hand cut, and beer battered onion rings. And of coarse one can't walk away without their soft serve ice cream and malts. Conveniently located between the Townsend tubing trail and Cades Cove, Burger Masters is primed to please any appetite after a day outdoors. The classic vibe takes me back to scenes from 80s camping movies. The ice cream and food are both great quality and quantity for the price too. Seating is scattered and slim when it is busy, which is most of the time. The long line gives you time to spectate and eat with your eyes in anticipation of your crucial order. Can't decide? My burger was room temp- like they pre cooked it and it was lying in a pile of pre cooked patties so they can assembly line the burger and didn't even bother to reheat it. Was there for lunch 11ish just after opening. Veggies on burger were fresh and great and so was the bun. Have a good system for volume business and the staff are friendly- just real average food. There are way better burgers in Townsend as well as 20 min up the road. One and done for me- not a repeater. Sad cause I'm a regular visiting the Smokey's. read more

We just got out of the mountains on our motorbikes and were looking for a spot for lunch. We saw the Burgermaster Drive In and pulled over. The place was decorated to the gills for fall and Halloween! The staff was incredibly prompt and very nice. We ordered a grilled cheese, patty melt, coleslaw and cheese fries to share. Our food was out within ten minutes and everything was just as we expected. My only complaint was that the fries were a bit too soggy for my liking, BUT, they use cheese sauce instead of melted cheese, which is almost always a bonus! They also serve milkshakes and ice cream, so I gotta finish this review and go back up to the window and order dessert! read more

Disappointing. Came here on recommendation of friends. All the burgers were frozen Pattie's and cooked to being on the dry side. No special seasoning or flavor. I saw nothing masterful about the Burger Master burger. Frozen onion rings and fries. Acceptable but not anything special. Thought the ice cream would save the day. Wrong again. Vanilla ice cream mixed with cookie dough in my flurry. Threw it out. Ice cream lacked flavor (I know it sounds weird but it is what it is) and the cookie dough was waxy and tasted like plastic. Five Guys or Red Robin have far better burgers and Dairy Queen can beat their ice cream easily. read more

Burger Master has been around for as long as I can remember. It's been remodeled in recent years and is always busy. They are only open from May to November but it's a great stop for some ice cream and a burger. Their shakes are my favorite and they give enough fries to share. You walk up to the window to order and they give you a number. Find a picnic table and the food is ready in 10-15. My only complaint is that the employees couldn't care less about their jobs. They are rude, don't care or offer apologies if they mess up, and act like they truly hate being there. Aside from that, don't expect good service, but it's still worth the food read more

Great place to stop in for a tasty cheeseburger combo after a scenic drive through Cades Cove! French fries were crispy, hot and flavorful and the burger came loaded with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. Would definitely stop here again. Outside walk up counter next to River Rat. I was having a craving for greasy, bar type food and this did not disappoint. I had chicken fingers and onion rings, hubby had a double cheeseburger and fries. All of it hit the spot. I'm not a burger person but his looked so good I had to try it and I would definitely go back for one of my own. Chicken fingers were breaded nicely and crispy. We stopped in today as we left the national park. We had about a 45 minute drive back to our cabin and needed a treat to ride us over until we got home. We walked right up to order and the girl kept saying she couldn't hear me. I am from Texas and have never been accused of being quiet! Anyway I ordered and got my receipt. Someone behind me ordered and she handed him cups. So I stepped back up after him and asked for a cup. She rolled her eyes at me. We went here a couple times during our stay because we loved the burgers and fries! It's a great location by the GSM park entrance/River Rat tubing, so expect it to be more crowded on Fridays and the weekend. The long line moved decently fast and it was worth the wait for us, they give out the little buzzers for when your food is ready which is very nice. They had a seasonal pumpkin milkshake that I enjoyed. It's all outdoor seating and they have plenty of it! I am surprised there are bad reviews, it doesn't advertise itself as a gourmet restaurant, it's a simple burger/fries/milkshake place with some nice outdoor seating, so if that's what you're looking for, then you've found the place. read more

Went to Burger Master on April 30th. They were crowded but not so many people there that it took 55 minutes to get our food after ordering. Heard that this place has changed hands & looked like the only people working were teenage girls. Burgers were only fair but the wait time was ridiculous. Cute roadside burger joint on the river side of Hwy 321. Knew it must be good when the parking lot was filled with cars. They only have outdoor seating & close for winter in early November. We had burgers and fries, food was great! Also had one of the tastiest vanilla shakes I've ever had. We sat outside at picnic tables decorated with pumpkins & fall decorations. Old time hamburger joint! Ordered the rings as it's a splurge! Someone suggested getting a peanut butter shake... well that was unique. It tasted like what is left in the bottom of a peanut butter and hot fudge sundae after you eat it! The burger had a slice of beefsteak tomato like you would grow in the garden. We arrived at noon and waited 45 minutes for cold food. The burgers looked like frozen patties. The only good part was the bun, lettuce, tomato, and pickle on the burgers. They recently renovated the drive in to have more covered seating and streamlined ordering process which was great. The seemingly frozen beef patty was an enormous let down. No flavor compared to the handmade patties of the past. Just charge a little more and put in the extra labor to keep the quality up please. It's the "Burger Master" after all. read more
