The young lady with the bun on her head served us her food and asked if there's anything else she could do for us and when my husband asked about a fork she pointed across the restaurant and told him where he could go get them. It may be priced like a gourmet restaurant but the service is definitely not there. Cashier was friendly but his hat was filthy. The floors were so filmy with whatever product they use to clean that I had a hard time walking in my new tennis shoes, almost slipped twice. But the server was definitely lazy. I have never been to a gourmet restaurant that told me to go across the restaurant and get my own fork when my food is already at my table. It's the small things that make a gourmet restaurant. But this one did not meet up for me today in Lake Mary. And again... $30 for two burgers and ONE fries and two drinks? Oh and customer service... Don't ask me to reach out with a follow up. Not bad at all...here's my thoughts: The Burger: I ordered a double cheeseburger, and added bacon. The burger was cooked to medium, pink inside, which was nice. It was most without being "juicy" or "greasy", and it was tasty. The cheese was typical American cheese, so nothing special there, but there was plenty of it. The bacon was crispy, and the BBQ sauce was good (I don't like mayo). The Fries: On the plus side, they tasted fresh, and were thicker than most restaurant fries. They are "skin-on" fries, if you like that kind. The "regular" size order is huge, enough to share unless you love fries. Having said all this, they weren't exactly crispy. They had a little crunch, but not much, and gave way to cooked, but soft potatoes underneath. I deducted a star because of them. The Price: Ouch! $14 for a burger, fries, and a Coke is steep. I get the concept of high-end beef, but it comes at a cost. $6.60 of my total was for "accessories", which I think was a but much, but when in Rome I guess... I deducted a star for price. Ambiance: The place is clean, the seating is appropriate, and there is decent music playing at a comfortable, yet elevated level. This is a casual, fun atmosphere. I walked in with trepidation, but once inside I was rocking the cool vibe. had researched the menu on-line prior to my arrival, unfortunately the menu board only displayed their basic and might I add short list. What happened to the 'secret' menu etc....Oh well. Let's talk Food: The BurgerFi Cheeseburger was ordinary at best. Any place in my book which doesn't ask how I like my meat cooked is branded 'fast food'. So it instantly joined the likes of McDonalds etc...Ouch! The Prime Brisket Cheeseburger ($9.97 ) was dry and flavorless. The sweet Ms. Linda graciously asked if I would like to comp it or try another one. Unfortunately, that one bite was all I could handle. The B.A.D (breakfast all day) burger was perhaps the most well received. Sweet and savory, topped with a fried egg, yes it was OK. The Texas Style Chili Dog was ordinary too, well at least the dog was. The chili and hot sauce were bursting with bold flavors. The best thing on our table hands down was the Cajun Fries. Thick cut, crispy, and flavorful. Though I wish they were piping hot and not a measly room temperature. The Strawberry Float was a refreshing addition to our average meal. Not being nauseously sweet was a treat in itself. Bottom Line: Sadly, I couldn't help compare BurgerFi to Mcdonalds, Burger King, and Five Guys, even though the claim to focus on "all-natural, grass-fed beef". I did enjoy the ambiance, especially a place where I could totally hang as an adult sipping on cold craft beer or indulge in some refreshing floats when Orlando gets hot. So. Last time we ate at Burger Fi, they failed miserably. But. We are Americans, and we believe in forgiveness and giving folks a second chance. And now we walk into the Lake Mary. FL location. Clean entrance. Nice friendly guy at the counter. Let's see what if anything has changed since our initial miserable experience. Ordered burgers + fries. Easy enough. We're told to take a seat and within 7-8 minutes we will have our order. Fine. Checking our watch to notice the time, we eventually find a clean table, which surprisingly enough is harder than it should be at 8:20 on a Tue night as we sit & wait for our name to be called. A filthy-dirty table smack-dab in the middle of the dining room, directly in front of the counter, is very off-putting. Wonder why no one notices how gross the spilled drinks, smears of ketchup and mustard, trash, and used dirty napkins on the table avoids attention. Ten minutes. Hmmm. But the pleasant counter dude said 7-8 minutes. Patience is required, so we sit. Not busy. Not crowded. Empty tables full of detritus and trash surround us & litter the restaurant. Three employees are talking amongst themselves while they text and giggle. No biggie if we had our food. But it has now been 15 minutes since our genial counter-person told us 7-8 minutes. Grrrr. Please put down the phones and go get our food. Finally a cheerful young girl drops off our order at the 19 minute mark, and proceeds to slink away. Wait! Can we check our order for accuracy & completeness before you disappear? Nope. Too late. No lettuce. No tomato. No raw onion. No mayo. Whoops. Special orders must upset them. Shaking our collective heads, I walk up to the cheerful counter dude who took my order just as he sees me and walks away. Did he really just do that? And so I stand with a tray of food waiting for someone, anyone to notice me & ask if I need something. I am sorely displeased at myself for ignoring my own instructions and going back for more piss-poor service and to be ignored yet again. I do not understand. Other folks rave about how good Burger Fi is. We on the other hand feel like a $3.99 special at Steak-n-Shake beats the hell out of our $36 dinner. Unbelievable. What an idiot I am for giving 2nd chances to places that clearly don't deserve it using my hard-earned money. Don't do it. Go anywhere else. I need to be honest, this location is touch and go as to whether you get great food and great service, but today was an exception...thanks to an employee by the name of Preston. Preston went above and beyond to make sure everyone's food tasted great and that they left feeling valued as a customer. Preston is on a different level than other fast-food employees. He was cheerful and pleasant and knowledgeable of the product. I ordered a Beyond Burger (Plant Based) and it was delicious. I did ask the Manager if they cook it with the regular burgers and it turns out that they do not. It was delicious. The fries today were great also...a little crispy on the outside and nice and fresh and hot on the inside. They actually cut whole potatoes at the restaurant to make their fries. The food is the best quality. Service is prompt, friendly, personal, and accomodating. My wife finds the beef hamburgers the best of any other restaurant. For me, its their quinoa or plant based pattie sandwiches. The custard is good if their machine is working or properly, have any custard in stock, or have the flavor in stock. There is also often a long wait. The potatoes are often greasy and burnt. The atmosphere and environment feels to dark, cold, crude, worn, dingy, and industrial. If we do go there, on rare occasions, as our only restaurant, I call first to make sure they have the veggie or beyond buger in stock. The last time, when we arrived, the cashier told me they no longer had veggie burgers left. So we had to go next door for pizza and extreamly bad service and price instead. We no longer bother with the potatoes or custard. read more
