I think this is my first 10/10 burger. I typically hate burgers. This is amazing. Its a crispy throughout smash patty

SERVICE - located in highland park slightly off of a main road - street parking nearby - retro themed interior decor - lots of indoor seating in tables, booths, or at the counter - order and pay and then find a seat - cashiers were not very friendly or talkative - food served relatively quickly MENU - vegan burgers with two different patty options - average price ($14 per burger) FOOD - heatseeker (7/10): veggie burger patty with American cheese, Serrano pepper slaw, fried pickled jalapeños, pimiento cheese, and garlic aioli sandwiched between a fluffy brioche style bun. This was the monthly special so I had to try it. I liked the variety of textures from the creamy aioli to the crunchy pickles and the soft bread that slightly soaked up some of the sauce flavors. As someone who eats a lot of spicy food, this did not have a strong heat punch. The burger itself was a meaty texture and held together well. My friends who are not vegan said that it was one of the best burgers that they had eaten. WOULD I COME BACK? Yes! This is my second time coming and I've really enjoyed it.

I've heard many great things about this place, but my experience was not so great here. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food as much as I thought I would. The pictures I see on Instagram look way better than the quality of their food. The burger looks so juicy, stacked, and full in their advertised pictures and posts; the texture of their "beefy" patty was not pleasant. My beefy patty was cold, chewy and dry. I would have liked more 2,000 Island sauce (which is delicious) on the side for my burger to help with the dryness. The menu is also a bit confusing and the guy at the register was not helpful at all in explaining the "Burgerlords Cheeseburger." When ordering the Burgerlords cheeseburger, I guess you have the option of "beefy patty" or "veggie patty." It was only when my cousin decided she wanted a "veggie burger" when the guy said "so you would like 3 Burgerlord cheeseburgers?" He did not mention anything about being able to choose your patty. Overall, the situation was very confusing and he did not bother helping us at all even though we clearly looked confused. Aside from the 2 beefy burgerlord cheeseburgers and 1 veggie burgerlord cheeseburger, we ordered the lord of the fries and crispy tofu nuggets. Again, the tofu nuggets had this unpleasant texture of soft melted tofu on your first bite with a slight crunch of the outside burnt crust. The two sauces I tried with the nuggets were ranch and bbq. The ranch was, in my opinion, nothing like ranch - it tasted like mayo. The lord of the fries were my favorite of all I tried. The cheese was melted perfectly on top of the fries and had yummy grilled onions and the 2,000 island sauce on top. I like the vibes the restaurant gave off - old diner vibes surrounded by cute lights and planters. Towards the end of the night, there are lights lit red by the window. There is parking across the street! 2 hour parking or metered parking is available. Plenty of street parking also. Unfortunately, this was not my favorite vegan burger joint!

Super thin smashed patties

Pleasantly surprised to find that the burgers are SMASH burgers, not at all what the pictures show here on Yelp. They were delicious!! The fries were also amazing and came with a side of sauce which I especially loved

Meh. Only one food item on menu: cheeseburger and fries. Decor and ambiance is now sparse. Cheeseburger looked better than it tastes. Patty out of the bun for pictures for no reason, loads of raw onions. Only option was sauce: Thousand Island, ketchup, or mustard. Overall flavor was lacking and just off. Fries were excellent. Service was minimal.

What $23 buys you. Some pretty decent fries and the smallest burger I've ever seen.

Ask the Community - Burgerlords - Highland Park

Is it true the new owners are charging 25 bucks for one veggie burger and have completely changed the menu?

Yes the only thing on the menu besides drinks/shakes is the 25 dollar burger with fries included.

Honest question. Why are they not open on Mondays & Tuesdays?

Hi, we're not open on Mondays & Tuesdays because we use those days for production. Everything is made from scratch here, and with such limited space, we need those extra days to produce all of the food for the week!

Is there a phone number? We had an issue with an online order and I can't find any way to call to inquire/correct it.

I don't know the phone number. i walked in

I noticed when ordering online that you offer gluten-free buns, but your vegan burger patties have bread comes in them and aren't gluten free, correct?

Our original burger patty does contain gluten. We offer an alternative "beefy" patty though that is gluten and nut free.

Do you have wifi at the Highland Park location?

Hi Scott, Unfortunately, we don't have public wifi. We appreciate your interest and hope to see…

Do they offer Impossible patties as an option?

Hi Brooke, We do not offer Impossible, instead we offer our Burgerlords® Vegan (veggie) Patty that is made fresh, in house everyday from real, whole foods such as:…

Do you do protein style lettuce wraps?

Yes as well as a gluten free bun option

Do they use different grill for the meat and vegan patty?

While we don't have a completely separate grill to cook on, our grill is partitioned and they are cooked on completely separate sides, with their own set of utensils.

Does anyone know if they offer any gluten-free buns and/or if the vegan burger is GF?

We now have gluten free buns. Vegan burgers are not gluten free as they contain flour, barley and panko bread crumbs.

So, on our way home from spending the morning in Pasadena, we stopped in for a late lunch. It wasn't too busy when we arrived with a couple available parking spots right in front. The team member at the register was friendly and helpful as he answered our questions. Given our mutual love for pastrami, we decided to begin our experience with both versions -- House and Oinkster with chili fries to share. We were given a number, then got ourselves seated. Our order arrived just a few minutes later. Both pastrami sandwiches were pretty solid -- fresh and tasty. We can't say it's our favorite, compared to others we've had, but well prepared overall. I enjoyed the caramelized onions and red cabbage coleslaw in the Oinkster. The husband is a fan of the small container of horseradish mustard that comes with it. The chili fries were ok. The vibe is old school. The space is clean and bright. There was a constant flow of customers while we dined. It was apparent that most enjoyed having a beer with their meal. The husband on the other hand was admiring the Horchata smoothie. Maybe next time. :)

I recently came back while we were in the Eagle Rock area and decided to stop by for a late lunch. My boyfriend and I shared the Oinkster Pastrami. At $21, I expected a much larger sandwich, but it was a regular size. I made it a combo with fries and a drink for an additional $7.50. The pastrami sandwich was disappointing. The pastrami lacked the saltiness I'm used to and didn't even taste like pastrami. It barely had any Swiss cheese, and the red slaw didn't have much flavor either. The fries were good though and ended up being the best part of the meal. They also didn't have many sugar free drink options, just Diet Coke and unsweetened iced tea. I went with the iced tea. The total came out to a little over $32. If the pastrami sandwich had been good, I wouldn't have minded paying that much, but unfortunately it was just mediocre. I don't see myself coming back, and this is probably why I'd only been here once before.

Still, I decided to give it another chance around 8 PM yesterday since my family was visiting LA and this was their choice. That turned out to be a big mistake. The experience started off poorly at the register. Since I'm not familiar with their menu or promotions, I asked a simple question about a deal my mom mentioned to confirm whether it was valid that day. The cashier immediately snapped and told me to "either speak up or have your driver talk for you." It was unnecessarily rude and caught me completely off guard, especially because I was already speaking clearly imo. When my boyfriend tried to ask the same question, she didn't even answer it. Just repeated a price, which wasn't helpful at all. At that point, we gave up and just ordered. Even then, the ordering process continued to be frustrating. She repeatedly got our order wrong when reading it back, and we had to correct her multiple times. The whole interaction felt rushed and unnecessarily tense. Better customer service training would really go a long way here. Then came the food. I ordered chili cheese fries, and at first, I thought maybe this visit would redeem itself. They tasted decent, which I appreciated because I was hungry. But halfway through, I started getting sharp stomach pains and had to stop eating immediately. I gave the rest to my boyfriend (who thankfully didn't get sick), but I ended up with a pretty bad stomach ache and we had to go home, smh. So the one time I decide to give this place another chance, I get rude service and feel sick afterward. Between the attitude at the register and the food making me feel unwell, this experience was frustrating from start to finish. I do understand why people feel nostalgic about this place since my own family has been coming here for years but unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Parking: Street parking was super easy on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to pull up right in front and park on the street. There is a Super A across the street and ample parking around for free. Ambiance & Food: This reminds me of an old school burger stand. Those were the best burgers and this one did not stop that trend. As I walked up, we were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of what which burger. They did have specials (I will get to that in a second) which we were intrigued, but for the sake of perspective, I ordered the Goldburger and both regular fries and curly fries with a bottle coke. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. I went ahead and dipped the fries in some homemade Aioli and dang, what a combo! Back to those specials, the current special is CHILI, I was intrigued so they gave me a small container of it to try. Man, if I wasn't watching my caloric intake, that would have been the move. It was rich and chunky and not to soggy which some always comes. Give it a try as they said it will be around for sometime. Other than burgers, they do have hot dogs as well. So worth trying both next time. To be perfectly honest, this brought back so much nostalgia for me, I used to go to school in the area and this brought a lot of those memories back. Tasty burgers and a must try for sure if your around! Cheers!
