So our expectations were not high after reading older reviews and the fact that this is a restaurant in a hotel (Ticonderoga NY), but the dinner choices in the area are limited so since we were staying at the hotel decided to give it a try. The bar and dining room had four wait staff servers, we were immediately greeted and asked where we'd like to sit. Water glasses and menus were brought over immediately. My drink order was brought over promptly and they brewed a fresh pot of coffee for my wife. Our orders were then taken- my wife had a Caesar salad topped with grilled chicken, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. Our food was delivered within 10-15 minutes which was amazing considering previous reviews. Food portions were quite large too, neither of us could finish (we were offered to go boxes). On the whole a very nice surprise to us both! I recommend you give it a try. read more

Zero stars for service. One star for ambience (it's in a Best Western Hotel), near the over-chlorinated pool. But I can't judge the food, so I'm assuming the food is good and bumping this up to 3 stars overall. I checked in on a Friday in July, around 5:00. There were about 7 people in the grill/bar area in all of 3 groups. Everyone was eating or drinking already. I was invited to sit at one of the many open tables, by the hostess, who was also bartending, I think. I grabbed the menu and decided on a burger. Then I waited 20 minutes for her to ask me what I wanted to drink. She stood at the bar, doing bar things, but never took my order. I was the only occupied table on the floor. She didn't seem to be making any drinks. Or maybe there was a waitress somewhere in an undisclosed and unknown location. Nevertheless, I waited in the quietness of a very slow night. Finally I gave up and left for the luncheonette in town, which waited on me immediately. The 50's luncheonette was pretty good. read more

We're staying at the Best Western, so this was convenient...go for inconvenient and eat elsewhere. It took an hour from when we were seated until we were served. Two of us ordered the fish and chips. The fish batter needed a steak knife to get through, and the fish was very fishy (ie old). The other person ordered a bowl of soup, and got what looked like a cup. The soup was ok, but very small. The fries were the only redeeming part of the meal. We made a meal of those. Maybe other stuff here is ok, but NOT THE FISH! read more

Service is decent at best. Food is day to day. Some days it's edible others it's not. Very hot or mis, is it worth the gamble? Was seated at the bar, which the previous customer just left and they didn't even offer to wipe off the bar. Ordered a salad and they didn't even include any dressing even though I order it. Tried out breakfast at the Burgoyne Grille because I was staying at the attached hotel. As soon as we walked in the restaurant a waitress asked us if we wanted eggs and ham. That was before we even found a place to sit. The breakfast buffet had DIY homemade waffles to cereal and hard boiled eggs. For a hotel restaurant, I was pretty impressed. We were seated very quickly. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. Our food came out in good time. I had angel hair pasta with meatballs. The pasta was good. A little light on the amount of sauce but everything tasted great. The portions were huge. The meatballs are a good 3 inches in diameter. Our salads were very fresh with a wide variety of vegetables on them. I gave it a 4 because it was pretty noisy in there. read more

We ate here because we were staying at the Best Western the restaurant was attached to. Our server, although very pleasant was rushing all over the place to cover a good number of tables... eventually the manager chipped in. We waited 30 minutes for our order. It was frustrating for the kids to see people who arrived at the restaurant after us be served before us. As far as the food goes it seems that the sandwich/fried food fare is much better than the more expensive entrees. All our food had been either microwaved or sat under a heating lamp so they could serve it all at the same time. Meatballs were huge, a plus, but very hard and dense. The salmon was overcooked and had been reheated. The kids meals were all ok - the french fries that came with the grilled cheese sandwich were phenomenal and a neighboring table was raving about the burgers which leads me to believe that you'll have better luck with the pub food. We had to ask for drink refills and my husband waited 15 minutes for the check and the cookies that were supposed to come with the kid's' meal ... I eventually just left with the kids because they were getting restless from a long day of travel. Although we'll stay at this hotel again, we will not return to this restaurant. read more

This has become our "Go-To" local favorite Resturant. Food is always excellent. The staff are very accommodating. Tuesday night Pasta Night and Thursday/Saturday Prime Rib night are our Favorites. All you can eat pasta and many different types of sauces can be cooked to your personal directions. Of course just about anything on the menu is very good. They have a full service Bar. I favor the draft selection and belong to the "Mug Club". With that $15.00 annual investment you get a 20 Oz beer for price of a 16 Oz or get a discount on a glass of wine. Plus for every $10.00 you spend on meal you get a membercard punched. When you get the Card completed you receive a $20.00 gift certificate for the Resturant and another card. Friendly service and excellent food. I really don't understand all the low ratings as well as the chlorine smell review. I am VERY allergic to chlorine and I have yet to smell any traces of pool chlorine. read more

We were staying at the hotel that houses this place , so this restaurant was the natural choice. I had the vegetable lasagna, huge portion, could only eat half. Came out freshly baked with cheese still bubbling. It was quite good. The fresh bread before the meal was also very good. We were told the desserts were all house made by the bartender and this is where the standout was. The carrot cake was among the best I've ever had, amazingly moist with nuts and raisins and a luscious cream cheese frosting. Carrot cake is my favorite cake, and I can be a harsh critic. This was amazing! A bit pricy: $78 for 2 adults, 2 kids, I did have wine and a dessert and everyone else had beverages. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a good restaurant in the hotel. We ate here twice because we had a 2-night stay at the hotel. The food was relatively decent. We went on a Wednesday night and had the 50 cent wings, but I was not impressed with any of the flavors personally; and I love wings. I ended up giving mine to my husband, who ate them because he refuses to let any food go to waste. However, the best thing I had there was their white clam chowder. It was truly the best I have had in my entire life. Unfortunately, however, when we returned the next night, after raving and graving it for the whole day, they had run out. NO more clam chowder! We were sooo disappointed that we nearly left. Of course, whatever we got that night simply paled in comparison. read more

This place is hit or miss. Sometimes I come here and everything is amazing and sometimes I come here and it seems like everything is wrong. Tonight is one of those nights. Bread is hard butter not whipped drink not what I wanted on top of that to strong with cheap vodka when I asked for absolute. I haven't gotten my meal yet but usually the chicken it shrimp Alfredo here is really good so.. We shall see. If anything the best night to come is Wednesday night when it's wing night. Please DO NOT eat here. Came here with my family and the second we walked into the lobby we smelt Florine from the pool which made me feel sick to my stomach. There were 3 other parties in the whole establishment yet it still took them 45 minutes to make the food for my party of 3. I ordered the grilled Atlantic salmon which was a special of the day. The fillet had crispy charred edges which I didn't even attempt to eat. What an embarrassment! I would not recommend this food and poor service to my worst enemy. Renee- RUDEST server ever. Dealt with her two nights in a row. Nasty attitude. Last night she kept reaching over our plates to deliver drinks. A coworker joined us after we had already been seated and given our entrees. We asked her if we could combine two tables so he could sit with us. She just grabbed the tables and flipped them around while my coworker was eating. I then asked her if I could get another glass of wine because we had not seen our server. Her reply was she would get my server for me. Tonight we decided to go down for dinner again. When we arrived I asked for a table for four. She told me she didn't have a table available until 745pm unless I had a reservation. I asked if hotel guest got priority seating and she said "No, the front desk told you at check in to make reservations." I explained that we weren't told that. She said she would check with the front desk to see if I was told. Really, why would I lie?! Someone was behind me and when he got to the podium and spoke with her she said "Thank you for making a reservation" and gave me a look. At that point I was DONE! She was also rude to coworkers. I have a choice of where to spend my money and it won't be here. Hope the owner knows how much money she cost them this week. We had 30 room night in this hotel and I'm sure we will have future room nights. Again, we will not eat here and I would venture to say we won't stay here eitherEverything else has been fine at the hotel. read more
