We enjoyed this bar for years,unfortunately stopped by the other day and was very disappointed. Waited for 45 minutes for two burgers one medium rare one medium both came out well done. Sent them back only to have the replacements come out the same way. Asked to see the manager and was told they were not there. The bartender explained the kitchen was still new and training. I hope they get their act together before season. Not sure if or when we will try it again. read more

I needed a quick place to stop for lunch in between work and this place fit the bill! Staff was very friendly, I ordered a build your own burger with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion and added some chipotle sauce on it as well. For my side I got the veggie of the day (which according to the bartender is the veggie of the decade ) Everything was delicious! They have a full service bar and outdoor seating as well. We've been seasonaly renting in PGI for a few years and now we own a place there so we've been to the Burg'r Bar at least a dozen times if not more. Punta Gorda is not like Ft Lauderdale or Miami.. Its an older crowd that likes things just the way they left it a week ago..they like consistency.. Unfortunately the new owners at Burg'r Bar don't understand that. After having been a patron over the past 3 years I grew very accustomed to what the place was, and it was great. We never had a bad meal there.. maybe occasionally slow service but that was only when it was jammed otherwise the service was always good. I went in a couple weeks ago and was taken back by all the menu changes, and frankly, I don't think the changes were for the better. And I feel like Im not the only one with that opinion because on a Friday at 1:00 the place would normally be hoping, but instead it was practically dead. The service was excellent but I was 1 of only 3 customers so servers were abundant. Food was OK, but not great and the reduced menu didn't offer much options.. Im to understand the new owners were long time die hard patrons. That would have lead me to believe they understood they were buying a vibrant business that didn't need much. Then why all the changes?? Why bother to buy a running business with all the good will the previous owners built over the years and change everything except the name?? Old customers are not going to come back after going for the first time since the ownership change.. they're just not gonna.. The new owners may as well change the name of the business and make a new start.. I really wish them luck but I don't see a good outcome for them. read more

We have been going to the Burg'r Bar since we moved to Punta Gorda 2 years ago. The food was always good, but what we truly loved were the servers and employees. Wanda became family. We went last Tuesday and barely recognized anyone working there. The new burger buns are horrible and looked burned. We figured the regular wait staff might be off because it was a week night, so we returned again tonight (Saturday). We asked for Wanda and was told she no longer works there and we were given the impression that she and the new management were not on the same page. We took a look around at all of the unfamiliar faces and left. The new management and all of their changes has taken a place that used to feel like home and destroyed it with completely different atmosphere. We won't be back. We could live with their choice of changing the buns, but you can't replace the people that worked there for years and made friendships with regular clientele. Very sad that the new management feels these poor choices are improvements. read more

We stopped by for lunch and grabbed a table on one of their two covered patios. Our waitress was very friendly but we did have to stand in the entrance for a few minutes before anyone offered us a table. Multiple employees walked by and just said that someone would be up here shortly. We asked to sit outside and were able to head out and grab a table in the shade. They have great outdoor seating with some fun yard games as well. The menu isn't huge but there are options for everyone. They asked if we wanted a breakfast menu or lunch menu, which is nice. I ordered the Patty Melt with chips and a side of coleslaw. I thought my meal was great and the portions were large. The mushrooms and onions were a great add-on to the patty melt and the chips were delicious. The coleslaw was on the runny side, which I enjoyed. Overall, a solid option for any meal! read more

Phenomenal lunch spot. I ordered the Steak & Shrimp burger lunch special to start stepping out of my usual orders. My first risk did not let me down. It was amazing. Kids meals were good. Wife's Filet Sliders were very good, Mac & Cheese left a little to be desired, but the Wings were also very good. It was our first meal after a very hectic 3 days of traveling and Jim was an excellent server for us accommodating the chatter of my boys. Sitting outside even in early January was beautiful. Was a favorite place until last night. Waited 40 minutes for a table, which was not a problem, had always been worth the wait previously. Hostess was lovely. Seated at a tall top. Waited 15 minutes for the barmaid to address us. Waited 15 more minutes until she came to get our drink order. All of which we could understand, being so busy on a Friday night. Been here a couple times. The food is really good. The menu is very flexible. We have some picky family members but they can always find something they like. It is not a huge place, but the servers are always friendly and accommodating. We took my step dad who has a walker and he was able to easily move around so there is plenty of space for any medical accommodations. read more

We order 5 kids meals, 2 adult burgers, and 2 extra hot dogs! Well, we only got 2 kids' meals and the 2 adult meals. The 2 extra hot dogs came out, no buns, just the hot dogs on a plate. We were told they didn't order the other kids' meals they would rush them. If you have 5 kids at the table, why would you only order 2 meals? The food was sub-par. The staff was great. They don't have much seating for large parties, so we sat outside. Of course, it was chilly and windy, so everything blew away. Their outside patio heaters don't work. Everyone who had to sit outside got very chilly. Make sure to check your receipt we didn't and was overcharged for 2 drinks that were not ordered. I ordered a bison burger on rye with Swiss cheese thousand island dressing and coleslaw. (aka the Rachel but with bison) and sweet potato fries, the wife had the wings with sweet potato fries. Both were delicious. We chose to eat outside on the beautiful day and our waitress came out every few minutes to make sure everything was good. Our waitress went above and beyond her duties for us and was amazing to see someone who loved her work especially in food service. Will always go here when I want a burger. read more

Radio station is good, service was.... Buddha Beer ( seasonal blueberry wheat ) was great. Mahi dip appetizer was so salty, literally all the pickled onions could never save it. Caesar salad was meh, standard. Baked beans were fresh out of a can. Bartender served us from our hightop table and shouted over customers seated at the bar if we were ok. Should have shouted back we needed an ice water as our beer glasses sat empty. Hubby had the Reuben and left half of it on the plate. IF the service was better, another star. Yesterday we went to the Burger Barn for lunch which we often do. Generally for lunch we share a Burger as we are not big lunch eaters. For dinner we each order a full meal. When we received our bill yesterday there was a "plate" charger. We asked the server if this was new and she said yes. At the very least this charger should be on either the menu, a sign or told to the customer who is sharing an order. To my knowledge the Burger Barn is the only restaurant in Punta Gorda who does this. read more

Saw an ad for this place and knew I should try it out. Did some shopping in Punta Gorda and made our way there for lunch. I had the Patty Melt and house made chips. Don't skip the chips. The burger was fabulous but those chips...TH should have gotten his own!!! TH ordered a bison burger made to order. He enjoyed it. His only complaint was that they didn't have green olives as a topping. Is that even worthy of a mention? They have a decent menu with other options for those who don't want a burger. But I would recommend you order a burger at a burger bar & these burgers were delicious! Beer was cold and they had my favorite in an aluminum bottle too. Great, friendly service and didn't have to wait for a table a little before noon on a Thursday. Indoor AND outdoor seating makes this a 5 star place. Known of this place for years. Finally decided to give it a try. It's just OK for me. Nothing special. I had the BBQ bacon cheeseburger on a pretzel bun. Ordered Medium and came out Well done. Just didn't have any flavor to me. Not good for a $14.00 burger. Service was good though, but prob because not many people there. I can see problems with service arising if they got busy. Ambiance was more of a bar vibe. They do have breakfast BTW. read more
